In Part 1 of Peter Jackson's new documentary, "The Beatles: Get Back," George Harrison repeatedly expresses reverence for Eric Clapton's guitar prowess. If Harrison were alive today, this film would be a painfully ironic reminder that a decade later, Clapton would marry Harrison's ex-wife. This game provides its own painful memory for those of us who backed the Cowboys on Thanksgiving or those who hoped our red-hot start to Thursday props would continue. The Cowboys and Saints come off midweek losses only to be featured again on Thursday Night Football.See the over, "Let it Be"After our words of wisdom started 4-0 for our biggest bet, the player usage prop, we went 0-for-3 on Thanksgiving. While we encountered some bad luck, the responsibility to "Get Back" is "I Me Mine."After scouring "Across The Universe" for injury information, the one thing that seems certain is that the Cowboys will run Ezekiel Elliott back out there. Whether it's my belief that he won't make it through the game without a limp, the clear evidence that Tony Pollard is the more dangerous weapon, or the Saints' staunch run defense, if a sportsbook is willing to line Elliott any higher than 40 yards, I can "Dig It" to bet the under.Pick: Ezekiel Elliott under 45.5 rushing yardsA TD that's definitely going to happenFor all the sorrow in the yardage prop category, we did cash nicely with Dalton Schultz last week to make us profitable. This week, if Taysom Hill plays, even if not the nominal starter, I'm hitting this like the guy dropping the hammer on the iron block in "Maggie Mae."Hill has dressed as the emergency quarterback for two weeks after missing a game prior to that. Now, reports indicate he's taking first-team reps in practice as the Saints search for answers on offense after last week's rough effort.Given that Hill can score on the ground or by catching a pass from Trevor Siemian, there's not a "Long and Winding Road" for him to travel to cash for us.Pick: Taysom Hill anytime touchdown (+275)A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it doesWe nailed our long-shot TD prediction last week, with Matt Breida scooting in for a score (+550) to win back almost six games worth of swings and misses. (The intrepid bettor may have tried his hand with Cowboys tight end Sean McKeon, who was mentioned as a prime candidate and did score.)Sometimes, these can come down to just "I've Got a Feeling." But with Lil'Jordan Humphrey getting his snaps cranked up to 47% last week (third-most of all Saints WRs), including many that included a route run in the end zone, there's reason to believe Humphrey might be the big target for Hill or Siemian if the Cowboys' corners are shadowing the Saints' top two pass-catchers. It would be nice if the price was "One After 909," but anything better than +500 is worth a shot.Pick: Lil'Jordan Humphrey anytime touchdown (+850)Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts said he'll be "ready to go" for Sunday's game against the New York Jets despite nursing an ankle sprain, according to ESPN's Tim McManus.Hurts injured his ankle in last week's loss to the New York Giants. Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Monday that he was hopeful his quarterback would be able to suit up versus the Jets."You guys obviously know I'm dealing with a little something, but it's business as usual," Hurts said Wednesday, per McManus. The 23-year-old's showing against the Giants was the low point of his 2021 campaign. He completed under 50% of his passes for 129 yards and three interceptions as the Eagles fell 13-7.Hurts has compiled a 5-7 record this season with 13 passing touchdowns to eight interceptions. He's added another eight scores on the ground.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown is expected to miss at least another two weeks with a nagging ankle injury that's kept him sidelined since Week 6, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday that Brown has been absent longer than the expected timeline of six weeks due to unforeseen circumstances."It was more a different injury than originally thought," Arians said. "A sprain. There's some issues in the heel - that's what he's having problems with."Arians seemed optimistic last week that the 33-year-old could return for Tampa Bay's Week 13 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. While the Buccaneers' offense has remained strong in Brown's absence, the team is 3-2 since his injury. Tampa Bay also lost in Week 3 to the Los Angeles Rams when Brown was sidelined due to COVID-19.Brown has 29 catches for 418 receiving yards and four touchdowns in five games this season.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. For the fifth week in a row, the most popular pick was upset, as the Dallas Cowboys lost as 7.5-point favorites on Thanksgiving - the biggest spread of the week.I've never seen a run quite like this in all my years playing survivor. It was relatively smooth sailing early on, but it's been pure chaos over the past five weeks. We're down to the nitty-gritty now, but the good news is things are looking relatively safer - famous last words - in Week 13:AWAYHOMEPICK (CR)JaguarsRams (-13)LAR (10)ColtsTexans (+9)IND (9)VikingsLions (+7)MIN (8)CardinalsBears (+8)ARI (8)BuccaneersFalcons (+11)TB (8)BroncosChiefs (-10)KC (7)GiantsDolphins (-3.5)MIA (7)49ersSeahawks (+3.5)SF (5)EaglesJets (+6.5)PHI (4)CowboysSaints (+4.5)DAL (3)RavensSteelers (+4)BAL (2)ChargersBengals (-3)CIN (1)WashingtonRaiders (-2.5)WFT (1)PatriotsBills (-2.5)BUF (1)1. Rams (vs. Jaguars)The Los Angeles Rams couldn't have asked for a better time to play the Jacksonville Jaguars - the ultimate get-right team. It's the perfect spot for Los Angeles to unleash all the frustration that's been building up over the last month.2. Colts (at Texans)The Indianapolis Colts took the defending Super Bowl champions to the wire last week and have hardly put a foot wrong during the past month. They've been playing good football for the last nine or so weeks, and that doesn't suddenly stop here against a miserable Houston Texans team Jonathan Taylor might be able to beat on his own. The bye is up next for Indy, so there's no worry of a lookahead here.3. Vikings (at Lions)As great as Dalvin Cook is, the Minnesota Vikings don't miss all that much when Alexander Mattison fills in. The same can't be said about the Detroit Lions without D'Andre Swift, as too much pressure will fall on the shoulders of Jared Goff against Mike Zimmer's complicated and swarming defense. The first meeting in Minnesota was a nail-biter, but the Vikings win by double-digits here.4. Cardinals (at Bears)Kliff Kingsbury still refuses to confirm whether Kyler Murray or DeAndre Hopkins will be back Sunday, but all signs point to the duo returning against the Chicago Bears. That would put this Arizona Cardinals offense at close to full strength - only Chase Edmonds remains out - as the team looks to hold down the top seed in the NFC against a Bears club in a lost season playing for a lame-duck head coach.5. Buccaneers (at Falcons)It took two late pick-6s for the Buccaneers to pull away in the season's first meeting in Tampa. It was much of the same in the game at Raymond James last season, with two very late Bucs touchdown icing what was a close contest. The rematch in Atlanta was much closer, and I think the Falcons can at least make things sweaty here.6. Chiefs (vs. Broncos)If you want to go the route of the Kansas City Chiefs, make sure to monitor practice reports throughout the week. This could get ugly if Drew Lock is forced to start in place of an injured Teddy Bridgewater. If the latter is able to play, the Denver Broncos should be able to keep this within the number, but leaving Arrowhead with a win seems unlikely, especially given Andy Reid's excellent record coming out of the bye.7. Dolphins (vs. Giants)Tua Tagovailoa doesn't get anywhere near the credit or respect he deserves. I expected the Carolina Panthers to dominate a weak Miami Dolphins offensive line last week, but Tua masks a lot of issues on this team. He ranked first among all quarterbacks in completion percentage, second in yards per attempt, and fourth in passer rating during November. He's done all of that behind a shaky line and with two of his best wide receivers sidelined.Given how late we are in the season, there's a strong chance you've already used the six teams listed above. In that case, the Dolphins would be my pick ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. Daniel Jones is unlikely to play, and even if he does, he'll be far from full strength against a blitz-heavy Miami defense. The Dolphins keep rolling here and climb back into the playoff picture.8. Eagles (at Jets)It sounds like Jalen Hurts is good to play, but I just can't get behind him. If the Eagles fall into any negative game scripts, Hurts isn't capable of throwing them out of it. The New York Jets have been a competitive group at home this season and I can't trust Philly right now with the stakes so high.9. 49ers (at Seahawks)Elijah Mitchell is running well and Brandon Aiyuk seems to have sorted out his early season issues, but it's fair to wonder what the 49ers' record would be without Deebo Samuel, who's set to miss this game. Over this recent three-game win streak, Samuel has 305 total yards and five touchdowns, and I'm not willing to put my complete trust in Jimmy Garoppolo and this offense without him, no matter how bad the Seattle Seahawks are playing.10. Cowboys (at Saints)The New Orleans Saints are live here with Taysom Hill sparking the offense, and Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, and Ryan Ramczyk all on track to return. CeeDee Lamb is back, and Amari Cooper could be, as well. That'd be a huge boost for the Cowboys, but the volatility of this team makes it tough to rely on.Alex Moretto is theScore's supervising editor of sports betting. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson endured his worst performance of the season during Sunday's 16-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, throwing four interceptions for the first time in his career.Jackson, who is on pace for a career-worst 20 interceptions, had nothing positive to say about his play after reviewing film from the Week 12 matchup."Bad passes, inaccurate, underthrown passes. That's all I seen. Bad reads," Jackson said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "I looked like a rookie."Jackson missed the previous game due to an illness, but the signal-caller said his recent poor health wasn't a factor after practicing all week in full leading into the Browns game."No excuses," he said. "That was just a bad performance. Four interceptions. Hope that never, ever happens again. Not ever."Despite Jackson and the offense struggling as a whole lately, the 8-3 Ravens remain in the driver's seat for the AFC North and in contention for the conference's No. 1 seed.Baltimore will go on the road to play the 5-5-1 Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Browns were our upset pick last week, but the only statement they made on Sunday Night Football was: "We are not very good."NFL teams had won 41 straight games when their opponent threw four interceptions. So Cleveland really had to do something special to lose despite Lamar Jackson's four picks. It's frustrating that such a short-priced underdog could play so poorly when the opponent seemed to be trying to throw away the game. Still, we can find a larger underdog at a consequently better payout this week, hold our noses, and hope another surprising win is on the horizon during a season that's had plenty of them.It surely would be surprising if the Atlanta Falcons beat our top-rated team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at +400. Here's how it could happen more than the 20% of the time it would need to in order to be a valuable bet.The spotThe Falcons peeled themselves off the floor to beat the Jaguars last week for their fifth (really!) win of the season. None of those wins against a list of sub-.500 teams have been impressive, and no one is buying in, but Atlanta is still clinging to a tie for the final NFC wild card.Meanwhile, a dramatic win for the Buccaneers in Indianapolis last week gave them a commanding lead in the NFC South and two wins in seven days after a two-game losing streak. Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette reminded bettors that no lead is safe. The bigger takeaway, however, might be the Bucs struggling again on the road, with their first cover of the year coming on a late long run.Falcons' offense vs. Bucs' defenseThere's no great case to be made for the Falcons' offense, since Matt Ryan is headed for the Infuriating To Watch Hall of Fame - but, as strange as this may sound, the unit is functional as long as Cordarrelle Patterson is healthy for a full game. This will be the fourth time that Ryan has faced Tampa Bay's defense in the last 12 months.GAMEMATT RYAN STATS2020 Week 15356 yards / 3 TD / 0 INT2020 Week 17265 yards / 2 TD / 0 INT2021 Week 2300 yards / 2 TD / 3 INTHere are the scores going into the fourth quarter of each of those games:

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift could miss multiple weeks with a shoulder sprain, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Lions are taking a cautious approach with their star tailback as he deals with an AC joint injury, reports Fowler.Swift suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Lions' 16-14 loss to the Chicago Beats on Thanksgiving. The second-year tailback left the game and didn't return.Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Swift was still feeling sore and it would be hard for him to envision the back being available for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to The Associated Press. The Georgia alum has been one of the brighter spots for the Lions amid a winless season. Swift has accounted for 984 yards from scrimmage - 555 rushing and 429 receiving - to go along with six touchdowns.Jamaal Williams will likely see an increase in snaps with Swift sidelined. He's rushed for 388 yards and two touchdowns to go with 21 receptions for 117 yards. Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson could also be options in the backfield.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry reiterated there's no plan to make a change at quarterback, even with a struggling Baker Mayfield playing through a multitude of injuries."Baker's our quarterback. He's healthy enough to win games," said Berry on Wednesday, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. "If he's ready to go, he's our starter."Cleveland began the season 3-1 before losing five of its next eight games, all but ending the team's hopes of winning the AFC North.Mayfield, who's dealing with a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a knee injury, reinjured the shoulder and was forced to miss Week 7. Backup Case Keenum stepped in and led the Browns to a win over the Denver Broncos. In the five games since returning from his one-game absence, Mayfield has thrown for 939 yards and five touchdowns against three interceptions while completing just 56.1% of his passes.Although Cleveland remains in the hunt for a wild-card spot, the club faces an uphill battle - only teams with winning records remain on their schedule. Some have called for the Browns to replace the limited Mayfield with Keenum for the team's final stretch and allow the young signal-caller to heal. But after Sunday's loss to the division-leading Baltimore Ravens, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Mayfield would remain under center following their Week 13 bye.The 2018 No. 1 overall pick is in line for a contract extension this coming offseason, but Berry doesn't believe that is weighing on Mayfield, whom he lauded for his physical and mental resilience, according to The Chronicle-Telegram's Scott Petrak.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. This week, we identify every team's biggest offseason regret.1. Arizona Cardinals (9-2) Christian Petersen / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 1Signing J.J. Watt brought a spark to the Cardinals, but it was a regrettable move financially. Arizona knew about Watt's injury history, yet it gave him $23 million in guaranteed money. The 32-year-old isn't expected to play again this season due to a shoulder injury, meaning he'll finish his debut campaign in Arizona with one sack over seven appearances.2. Green Bay Packers (9-3)Previous Rank: 3The Packers' front office surely regrets how it handled its relationship with Aaron Rodgers, who's been disappointed by a series of recent personnel decisions. Rodgers returned for one more year, but there are no guarantees this won't be his last dance with the team.3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3)Previous Rank: 2It's hard to question the Bucs' offseason after they brought back every starter from a championship-winning roster, but the one box they forgot to check was depth at inside linebacker. That hasn't been a big problem because Lavonte David and Devin White are always on the field, but White could miss time after suffering a thigh injury in Week 12.4. New England Patriots (8-4)Previous Rank: 4The Patriots had as successful an offseason a team can have. However, one of their few mistakes was giving a four-year, $50-million contract to Jonnu Smith, who has only 25 catches for 259 yards and one touchdown this year.5. Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 7Kansas City was so focused on improving its offensive line that it might have forgotten to look at the wide receiver depth chart. The Chiefs needed a replacement for Sammy Watkins as their No. 3 target, and they thought Mecole Hardman, DeMarcus Robinson, or Byron Pringle would be up to the task. However, they've all underperformed so far.6. Buffalo Bills (7-4)Previous Rank: 11The Bills didn't add a proven tailback after mistakingly thinking Devin Singletary and Zack Moss were the answers for their running game. Having an effective runner not only would've made their offense more dangerous, but it likely would've reduced the number of scary hits Josh Allen has taken.7. Baltimore Ravens (8-3)Previous Rank: 8Baltimore wishes it had extended Lamar Jackson, whose value is only going up in 2021 due to his MVP-caliber campaign. Dak Prescott ($40 million per year) and Josh Allen ($43 million) both landed monster offseason extensions, and Jackson will be in position to demand more money once his time comes.8. Cincinnati Bengals (7-4)Previous Rank: 13Although the Bengals' blocking unit has played better this year compared to last season - especially in the running game - Cincy should regret not bolstering its offensive line even more before the season. Joe Burrow has already been sacked 30 times, 10th most in the league.9. Los Angeles Rams (7-4)Previous Rank: 6Shouldn't the Rams have pursued a proven inside linebacker in the offseason, given the lack of consistency from their young defenders against the run and, especially, in pass coverage?10. Dallas Cowboys (7-4) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 9The Cowboys' offensive line is among the NFL's best, but Dallas' lack of depth up front might hurt the team as the season progresses. In their loss to Kansas City two weeks ago, the Cowboys' blocking unit allowed five sacks while being down two starters.11. Tennessee Titans (8-4)Previous Rank: 5Having a future Hall of Famer on the roster is tempting, but giving up second- and fourth-round picks for Julio Jones is looking awful for the Titans right now. The 32-year-old has yet to catch a touchdown with his new team and was placed on injured reserve only six games into the season.12. San Francisco 49ers (6-5)Previous Rank: 16The lack of depth at wide receiver was a big storyline for the 49ers before the season, and now it's clear why. Deebo Samuel suffered a groin injury last week and is set to miss time, leaving Brandon Aiyuk as San Francisco's only quality starting wideout available.13. Indianapolis Colts (6-6)Previous Rank: 12General manager Chris Ballard sure wishes he'd added a star pass-catcher to the roster. There's a big gap between Michael Pittman - the Colts' only wideout with at least 35 receptions and 350 yards in 2021 - and their second-best wide receiver.14. Los Angeles Chargers (6-5)Previous Rank: 10Los Angeles hasn't had a disruptive pass-rusher other than Joey Bosa for multiple years now, yet the team refused to address that issue in the offseason once again. Bosa, the only Chargers player with more than five sacks last year, is also their only defender with three-plus sacks so far in 2021.15. Minnesota Vikings (5-6) Scott Taetsch / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 14Everyone was stunned after the Vikings gave Brian O'Neill a $92.5-million extension before the season, and rightfully so. Minnesota wouldn't have overpaid him if it weren't for the club's major offensive line issues. And as good as O'Neill is, the Vikings will likely wish they had that money available to spend on other players in the near future.16. Las Vegas Raiders (6-5)Previous Rank: 21We learned one major thing from the Raiders in the offseason: how not to build an offensive line. Las Vegas got rid of its best veteran blockers and replaced them by making several questionable moves, including drafting Alex Leatherwood 17th overall.17. Cleveland Browns (6-6)Previous Rank: 15It's easy to say this now, but the Browns should regret not trading Odell Beckham Jr. before the 2021 campaign. Then, teams were reportedly interested in Beckham, who was never a great fit in Cleveland. Had the Browns dealt the wideout instead of waiving him two months into the season, they would've had more time and assets to fix their wide receiver issues.18. Denver Broncos (6-5)Previous Rank: 20The Broncos' decision to trade for Teddy Bridgewater and pass on a quarterback in the draft was questionable in April. Seven months later, we can call it a mistake. Denver used the ninth overall pick to select cornerback Patrick Surtain II despite Justin Fields and Mac Jones still being on the board. Surtain is a star in the making, but Bridgewater's been far from great, meaning the Broncos still have a question mark at football's most important position.19. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-5-1)Previous Rank: 17The Steelers knew this would likely be Ben Roethlisberger's final season, yet they didn't address their future at quarterback. Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh's 2018 third-round pick, hasn't shown any signs that he's ready to replace Roethlisberger over 10 career starts.20. Miami Dolphins (5-7) Michael Reaves / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 24The Dolphins should've traded Xavien Howard, who doesn't have many more years left in his prime. The offseason was Miami's best opportunity to maximize its return for the 28-year-old after he led the NFL with 10 interceptions in 2020.21. Washington Football Team (5-6)Previous Rank: 22Washington will regret not signing Brandon Scherff to a long-term extension. The All-Pro guard is playing under the franchise tag for the second straight season, suggesting this might be his last year in Washington. Losing Scherff would be a big problem for the team.22. New Orleans Saints (5-6)Previous Rank: 18It's still unclear what led to Michael Thomas not having his ankle surgery earlier in the offseason, but New Orleans would definitely like to go back and fix its issues with the wide receiver. Thomas was initially set to return in October but was later ruled out for the year, leaving the Saints with one of the league's least-talented receiving corps.23. Philadelphia Eagles (5-7)Previous Rank: 19The Eagles have apparently found their offensive identity, but questions remain on the defensive side of the ball. Granted, Philly has played better in recent weeks, but the front office has to be questioning its hiring of defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon after multiple players criticized his scheme.24. Chicago Bears (4-7)Previous Rank: 26Despite last year's playoff berth, the Bears should've fired Matt Nagy after finishing 2020 with an 8-8 record. It's not a coincidence that Justin Fields had arguably his most exciting performance of the season in Week 10 when offensive coordinator Bill Lazor called the plays with Nagy absent due to COVID-19 protocols.25. New York Giants (4-7) Jim McIsaac / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 28Firing offensive coordinator Jason Garrett after Week 11 was the right thing to do, but the Giants made a mistake in insisting on Garrett in 2021 after their offense struggled in 2020.26. Seattle Seahawks (3-8)Previous Rank: 25We're surprised every time Jamal Adams snags an interception, which shouldn't be the case since he's the NFL's highest-paid safety. Adding to the mistake of Adams' four-year deal in August is that the three-time Pro Bowler has yet to record a sack in 2021 after racking up 9.5 last year.27. Carolina Panthers (5-7)Previous Rank: 23If Carolina could go back in time, the team wouldn't have taken a swing at Sam Darnold, who struggled through most of the season before suffering an injury. Trading for Darnold not only cost the Panthers second- and sixth-round picks, but it also led to Carolina drafting cornerback Jaycee Horn No. 8 overall instead of going after a quarterback.28. Atlanta Falcons (5-6)Previous Rank: 27The Falcons were negligent in addressing their pass rush. Atlanta finished in the bottom 10 in sacks last year, yet the team didn't make any big signings in free agency and didn't draft an edge rusher until the fifth round. That explains why the Falcons have a league-low 15 sacks.29. New York Jets (3-8)Previous Rank: 31The Jets spent all camp and began the season with zero NFL experience at quarterback. Considering New York drafted Zach Wilson second overall in April, giving the rookie a veteran passer to act as his mentor and help in his development should've been on the team's to-do list.30. Houston Texans (2-9) Bob Levey / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 29The Texans must regret not having a roster-management plan. Why did they start the season with a handful of veteran running backs who are years removed from their primes? Why did they trade a pick for Anthony Miller just to release the wideout months later? It feels like Houston's rebuild didn't take any steps forward in 2021.31. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9)Previous Rank: 30The Jaguars have had very few signs - if any - that hiring Urban Meyer as head coach was the right call for the franchise. Meanwhile, there are several arguments to be made against the legendary college football coach.32. Detroit Lions (0-10-1)Previous Rank: 32The Lions would've picked someone else other than Anthony Lynn as their offensive coordinator if they had a chance. Lynn recently lost his play-calling duties amid Detroit's struggles, and it'd be shocking if he returns in 2022.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill had his suspension reduced from two games to one after appealing the punishment for his Thanksgiving Day incident, NFL official Michael Signora announced Tuesday.Hill landed in trouble for taking a swing at Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman John Simpson on the field after Dallas' Week 12 game. He'll miss Thursday Night Football versus the New Orleans Saints and is eligible to return against the Washington Football Team in Week 14.

Our winning run was snapped in Week 12 with a 1-2 mark, but we've still posted a winning record in four of the last six weeks entering a busy slate.Cardinals (-8, 45.5) @ Bears, 1 p.m.Few teams have been more consistently incompetent on offense than the Bears, who rank 29th in points per contest (16.3) and are yet to score more than 27 points in a game this season. Lousy quarterback play has been a major reason why, and that isn't likely to change with Justin Fields still uncertain to play Sunday.Andy Dalton helped lead Chicago to a whopping 16 points against the lowly Lions on Thanksgiving Day. But whoever captains this Bears offense will be hard-pressed to find much ground against the Cardinals, who've quietly posted top-five marks in average points allowed (18.4) and yards allowed (317.8).Arizona could welcome back Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins in this one, but expecting either to get this to the over immediately after a lengthy absence is a risky move, especially against a Chicago team with an 8-3 record to the under thus far.Pick: Under 45.5Colts (-9, 45.5) @ Texans, 1 p.m.A week after running roughshod on the Bills in one of the more surprising blowouts of the season, the Colts came back down to earth Sunday in a home loss to the Buccaneers. Offense wasn't the problem, though: Both sides combined for 69 points and nearly 800 yards of offense despite turning the ball over a whopping seven times.Much of that was bad fumble luck for Indy, which should normalize this week in a juicy matchup for Jonathan Taylor and this run-heavy offense. The Texans' defense ranks 25th in rush DVOA and was gashed for 174 yards on the ground the last time these two played in the Colts' 31-3 win back in Week 6.Houston's offense should have a better showing this time around with veteran Tyrod Taylor replacing rookie Davis Mills. Taylor hasn't been all that sharp in his return from injury, but expect him to bounce back against a vulnerable Indianapolis secondary Sunday. And if he doesn't? The Colts own the NFL's best record to the over (8-4) and might push this one over on their own.Pick: Over 45.5Broncos @ Chiefs (-10, 47), 8:20 p.m.Everything about this matchup screams under to me, which isn't something I thought I'd ever say about a game featuring Patrick Mahomes. That's the reality for these Chiefs, who've gone under in five of their last six games behind a surprising defensive resurgence. The difference has been this team's ability to pressure the quarterback. From Weeks 1-7, Kansas City combined for eight sacks and recorded a multi-sack game just twice. In four weeks since, the Chiefs have registered a whopping 11 sacks and held all four opponents below 250 passing yards, with three of those contests finishing comfortably under. The Broncos' defense finally looks to be capitalizing on the high hopes it had entering the season, holding four of its last five opponents to 17 or fewer points after a dominant display last week against the Chargers. Yes, it's always scary fading Mahomes, but it's riskier to bet against these two defenses with the way they've played as of late.Pick: Under 47C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is week-to-week with a neck strain, making Mike Glennon the likely starter Sunday versus the Miami Dolphins, sources told Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.Jones reportedly injured his neck early in last week's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, though he finished the game without any apparent difficulty. He's thrown for 2,428 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2021.Glennon made one relief appearance for Jones earlier this season, throwing a touchdown and two interceptions against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.The Giants are signing quarterback Jake Fromm from the Buffalo Bills' practice squad, according to Pelissero.Jones missed two games last year because of hamstring and ankle injuries.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Taysom Hill revealed Tuesday he's dealing with a partially torn plantar fascia, but the New Orleans Saints utility man said he's healthy enough to play, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett.Hill dressed for Thanksgiving a week ago but didn't take a snap in the Saints' blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Sean Payton said Hill was confined to an emergency role as the backup quarterback for Trevor Siemian because of a foot injury. The Saints are reportedly giving Hill reps with the starters at practice leading up to Week 13. Payton has been coy about his quarterback plans versus the Dallas Cowboys and said Tuesday "we'll see" who starts on Thursday Night Football. The Saints have lost four straight games started by Siemian, who took over after Jameis Winston went down with a season-ending knee injury.Hill, who often lines up across the formation and plays a variety of roles in the offense, has thrown just four passes since Winston's injury. He started four games at quarterback last year while filling in for an injured Drew Brees and went 3-1.New Orleans recently signed Hill to a four-year extension with a fluid salary that changes based on whether he plays quarterback in the future.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. There was good news and bad news in the teaser basket last week. Early on, the Cowboys - along with various forces - conspired to blow up our Thanksgiving teasers. But since it was a Thursday game, there was more than enough time to line up the other teaser legs, virtually all of which won.Not all teaser legs are created equal. The biggest mistake novice bettors make is teasing through zero because they're wasting valuable price points on a number the game probably won't land on: a tie. So, how can we maximize the six-point move? How can we get what we're paying for at -270 per leg?Let's take the NFL's last winless team, and its game Sunday against the Vikings, as an example:SPREADODDSMIN -7-110MIN -6.5-125MIN -6-138MIN -5.5-145MIN -5-150MIN -4.5-163MIN -4-175MIN -3.5-180MIN -3-225MIN -2.5-250MIN -2-265MIN -1.5-270MIN -1-280The alternative spread gives you the Vikings -1 at -280. Would you rather that, or the -1.5 that a teaser leg provides at the same price? What about Vikings -1 at -270 versus the Vikings' moneyline of -300?The answers are obvious, but we'll need some options to pair with MIN -1, which is why we turn to the teaser basket for the best options to capture as many key numbers as possible.Teaser basketLet's look at the mathematically optimal plays available for Week 13:TEAMSPREADTEASER LEGCardinals-7.5-1.5Chargers+3+9Vikings-7-1Giants+3+9Eagles-6.5-0.5Washington+2.5+8.5Patriots+3+9Another week, another seven days of wondering if Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins will play. As usual, this line indicates they likely will, but do you want to tease the Cardinals down under the key number of -3 without that certainty?Even if we're paying for a half-point that captures +9, which isn't a key number at all, I don't know how you can deny that the Chargers and Giants aren't valuable teaser legs. More good news: You can wait to see if, by chance, these continue to climb and get to +4. It's not likely, but you never know.Jalen Hurts' ankle uncertainty means that including the Eagles with a request to just win is troublesome at a -270 price. If Hurts is out, Gardner Minshew becomes the guy to run an offense tailored for Hurts' specific skill set.Washington comes off its third straight win, but momentum is a very fickle thing in the NFL. I don't think I can pull the trigger on this team at +2.5 in Las Vegas, but getting all the key numbers with +8.5 is worth inclusion in a two-to-three-leg teaser.Lastly, I think we're all hoping for a great game with the Monday Night Football showdown between the Patriots and Bills. Should we get that, we'll likely be closing out a teaser in an exciting yet easy fashion to finish Week 13.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin doesn't plan to play music at practice, despite the wishes of wide receiver Chase Claypool."Claypool plays wideout and I'll let him do that. I'll formulate the practice approach and I think that division of labor is appropriate," Tomlin said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, after Claypool suggested Monday that playing music would help improve the Steelers' practices.Tomlin isn't the only Steeler who isn't on board with Claypool's idea."I hope he was kidding, because as soon as he said it I was literally about to rip the speaker out," defensive tackle Cam Heyward said Tuesday, according to Mike Prisuta of 102.5 FM WDVE. "That is not what we need right now. It's Xs & Os and it's execution."Heyward added: "There's not gonna be anything played during practice."The Steelers haven't won any of their last three games. They've suffered two straight losses, including a 41-10 defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 that dropped the team into the AFC North basement with a 5-5-1 record.Tomlin is planning his own changes to get his team back into the win column."We're open to some schematic changes," he said, according to Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper. "We're open to some personnel changes, obviously. They won't be drastic in nature. Probably more subtle in nature, but hopefully significant. Significant in a positive way."Pittsburgh hosts the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Robert Griffin III is opening up about his time with the Washington Football Team in a new book. The former quarterback announced Tuesday that he co-authored a book titled "Surviving Washington," which will be released next summer. It's described as an "explosive tell-all" that details "the shocking mismanagement and toxic culture within the most dysfunctional professional football team in America."In his announcement, Griffin said the book will shed light on the knee injury he suffered in a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks and the "medical mismanagement" he received from the team, among other topics.

The 23-year-old is among the best backup running backs in the league, and there's a good chance he gets multiple starts while Minnesota allows Cook to heal.Mattison was the RB6 and RB7, respectively, in the two games in which he saw extensive volume this season, and he posted over 150 yards from scrimmage in each contest.Jamaal Williams, LionsNext UpRosteredFABvs. MIN39%$24Lions head coach Dan Campbell strongly suggested that D'Andre Swift wouldn't be available for this week's game against the Vikings due to a shoulder sprain. That would put Jamaal Williams in the lead back role against a team that just gave up 168 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown to Elijah Mitchell.Williams doesn't have Swift's elite skills, but he's a well-rounded back capable of handling a three-down role. He can be started as an RB2 in fantasy lineups this week.Dontrell Hilliard/D'Onta Foreman, TitansNext UpRosteredFABon Bye29%/46%$19/$19The Titans' backfield duo had a surprising amount of success against the Patriots' defense, with Hilliard turning in 133 yards from scrimmage and a score on 13 touches, while Foreman compiled 112 yards on 20 touches. Both players were on the field for around 50% of Tennessee's snaps, and each fumbled once. The Titans are on a bye, but this should give fantasy managers hope that the offense can still generate rushing production even in Derrick Henry's absence.Though Jeremy McNichols will likely return for Tennessee's next context, Hilliard and Foreman deserve another shot. The Jaguars, the Titans' next opponent, should provide a positive game script, making Hilliard and Foreman intriguing RB3s with RB2 upside.Matt Breida, BillsNext UpRosteredFABvs. NE23%$19Breida went from third on the Bills' depth chart to the pretty clear starter in a matter of a couple of weeks.Zack Moss was a healthy scratch on Thanksgiving, and it paved the way for Breida to amass 55 yards and a touchdown while serving as the lead back. Most of Devin Singletary's work came when the game was out of reach for the Saints. This is still the Bills' backfield, which means multiple running backs will be involved and Josh Allen is a threat to steal goal-line touches. Buffalo's schedule also does Breida no favors, with matchups against the Patriots, Buccaneers, and Panthers over the next three weeks.Regardless, Breida needs to be rostered everywhere to see if he can continue to produce as a fantasy RB3 with an RB2 ceiling.Ameer Abdullah/Chuba Hubbard, PanthersNext UpRosteredFABon Bye0%/37%$14/$14Christian McCaffrey is out for the year after suffering an ankle injury Sunday, but things are different in the Panthers' running back room this time around. While Hubbard stepped into a dominant role during McCaffrey's last injury stint, Abdullah saw more snaps recently as the complementary option. That'll likely lead to a committee with both backs splitting time in a rushing attack capped by Cam Newton's goal-line prowess. They should both be solid RB3/flex options in their Week 14 contest versus the Falcons, but be wary of playing them in the fantasy playoffs when they go up against three tough run defenses in the Bills, Bucs, and Saints.High-upside backups like Sony Michel (27% rostered), Ronald Jones (19% rostered), and Khalil Herbert (19% rostered) should be rostered in most leagues.Flex options (if healthy): Jordan Howard at NYJ (16% rostered)Risky flex options: Tevin Coleman vs. PHI (18% rostered), Ty Johnson vs. PHI (41% rostered), Rex Burkhead vs. IND (8% rostered), Boston Scott at NYJ (19% rostered), DeeJay Dallas vs. SF (10% rostered)Dart-throw flex options: Brandon Bolden at BUF (24% rostered), Phillip Lindsay vs. NYG (12% rostered), Jaret Patterson at LV (1% rostered)Other backups to roster: Devontae Booker at MIA (35% rostered), Jeff Wilson at SEA (46% rostered), Latavius Murray at PIT (34% rostered), Samaje Perine vs. LAC (5% rostered), Carlos Hyde at LAR (10% rostered), Eno Benjamin at CHI (3% rostered), Kenneth Gainwell at NYJ (12% rostered), Kene Nwagnwu (0% rostered)Wide receivers Jayne Kamin-Oncea / Getty Images Sport / GettyVan Jefferson, RamsNext UpRosteredFABvs. JAX49%$24DeSean Jackson's departure helped thrust Jefferson into a significant role in the Rams' pass offense. He's averaging 7.2 targets per contest over the previous five games with stat lines of 4-43-1, 3-88-0, 3-41-0, 3-54-0, and 3-93-1 - the last numbers being his best and most recent performance Sunday. His comfort in the offense is evident, and it wouldn't be shocking if he outproduces Odell Beckham Jr. for the rest of the season. The playoff race is officially heating up in the AFC, as all four divisions are within two games at the top with just six weeks remaining in the regular season. Three of those division leaders are clinging to a one-game lead (or smaller), which makes for some volatile betting opportunities in those markets. We've got you covered with a breakdown of all four divisions in the AFC, starting with the most curious one of all from a betting perspective:AFC EastTEAMODDSBuffalo Bills-140New England Patriots+115Miami Dolphins+10000New York Jets+100000So, let me get this straight: the Patriots (8-4) have a better record than the Bills (7-4) through 12 weeks, boast a higher point differential, are riding an NFL-best six-game win streak heading into this week's matchup, and yet Buffalo is the favorite to win the division? It's fine to have faith in the Bills to play like the team we expected to see entering the year - and briefly did see, albeit against lesser competition. At some point, though, you've got to price what you see on the field, and the Patriots have been the better team for nearly two months now. That's before considering the loss of Tre'Davious White, who was arguably Buffalo's best defender before his season-ending injury last week.Conversely, New England owns the stingiest defense in the league and has averaged 35.2 points per game during its win streak as rookie Mac Jones gets more comfortable within this offense. The Patriots also project to have one of the easier schedules in the league over the next six weeks, while the Bills will finally face the winning teams they've evaded for much of the year. No matter how you slice it, New England ought to be favored.Value: Patriots +115AFC WestTEAMODDSKansas City Chiefs-225Los Angeles Chargers+350Denver Broncos+800Las Vegas Raiders+1200It was only a month ago that the Chiefs appeared dead in the water after two blowout losses in prime time sandwiched around an uninspiring win in Washington. Sure enough, they rose from the ashes and ripped off a four-game win streak, which was enough for oddsmakers to price them as overwhelming favorites to win their sixth consecutive division title. Are we sure we haven't anointed them too quickly, though? After all, the other teams in this division are just one game back of Kansas City, which faces those three challengers in succession over the next three weeks. The Chiefs' defense appears up for the task, but we're yet to see Patrick Mahomes and Co. show the kind of consistent success that would justify betting such a short price.Instead, I'm eyeing a long-shot bet on the Broncos, who own the best scoring margin in the division and have held four of their last five opponents to 17 or fewer points. If Teddy Bridgewater can remain competent under center, this physical run game and swarming defense can match up with Kansas City in two meetings and reward bettors with a late-season run.Value: Broncos +800AFC NorthTEAMODDSBaltimore Ravens-175Cincinnati Bengals+200Cleveland Browns+900Pittsburgh Steelers+3000It hasn't always looked pretty, but somehow the Ravens keep winning. They became the first team since 2013 to win a game in which their starting quarterback threw four interceptions with Sunday's 15-10 win over the Browns - preserving their slim one-game lead atop the division. This is essentially a two-team race with the way Cleveland and Pittsburgh have played as of late. Can the Bengals make things interesting? They've quietly posted a better scoring margin (plus-83) than Baltimore (plus-23), though much of that has come against a cupcake schedule to this point. The division will be decided in heavyweight fashion, as four of the five hardest remaining schedules by record belong to these AFC North teams. That's good news for Baltimore, which is 13-8 straight-up in the last three seasons against teams with a winning record - the best mark by any of these four clubs. The Ravens' experience and dynamic playmakers on both sides of the ball should be enough to hold serve in the division and potentially secure the AFC's top seed.Value: Ravens -175AFC SouthTEAMODDSTennessee Titans-2500Indianapolis Colts+1000Jacksonville Jaguars+100000Houston Texans+100000Let's face it: you aren't betting the Titans at these odds with six weeks to play of this wacky NFL season. So, the better question is whether you think the Colts are worth a shot at 10-1, or if this division is a stay-away altogether. The answer likely isn't a satisfying one. Truthfully, Indianapolis might be the better team right now, as injuries have piled up for this Tennessee offense that looks like a shell of what it once was. The Colts are barely a week removed from a blowout win over the Bills, which felt like a statement at the time, and they've won six of their last nine with three one-score losses. That said, Tennessee owns not only a two-game lead but also the head-to-head tiebreaker, and it faces the easiest remaining schedule by opponent record with just one contest against a team with a winning record. The damage is likely already done for Indy's division chances, even if it feels like the "right" play here.Value: NoneC Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is so confident he'd win a race against Usain Bolt he's willing to offer up his Super Bowl ring. After challenging Bolt to a race earlier this year, Hill called out the sprinting legend again in an interview with TMZ Sports and agreed to wager his Super Bowl LIV ring against one of Bolt's Olympic gold medals."Right now, it's getting kind of personal. I'm not worried about no money, you know? You feel me?" Hill said. "Like right now, it's about my ego right now. Because I feel like he just tried me."Bolt, who retired from track and field in 2017, told TMZ Sports in August that Hill was "probably scared" to bet his Super Bowl ring. However, Hill sounds serious about making a race happen."Usain Bolt, like I say: You got my number, you got my Instagram, you got all that information. Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is expected to miss at least the next two games with a shoulder injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team is hopeful Cook will return for their Week 15 matchup against the Chicago Bears, Schefter adds. The Vikings' next two games involve a divisional matchup against the Detroit Lions on Sunday before taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers the following Thursday.Head coach Mike Zimmer denied earlier reports Monday that Cook tore his labrum, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin. Zimmer declined to specify the exact injury but called the running back day-to-day.Cook was carted off in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers and was set to undergo an MRI on Monday.Alexander Mattison will lead Minnesota's backfield while Cook is sidelined. He's made two starts this season and has racked up 464 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.Cook has been one of the league's most dominant running backs in recent years, earning Pro Bowl nods in each of his last two seasons. Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Jack Conklin ruptured his patellar tendon and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced.Conklin suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Cameras showed his knee buckling as he tried to walk to the sideline with trainers. Conklin was carted to the locker room from the sideline before being ruled out.The 27-year-old is one of the NFL's premier right tackles. He signed a three-year deal with the Browns last year and earned his second career first-team All-Pro nod after starting 15 games for the team in 2020.Conklin wasn't able to replicate that success this season. We're running out of weeks where adjusting ratings is necessary. Eventually, teams are what they are. As we discuss each week, overreacting to one game is a fool's errand, but there are still a few teams who we have no clue what to make of, even after three months of football. The Buccaneers' comeback win over the Colts keeps them atop the ratings - our tool for betting games each week.TEAMRATINGRANGEBuccaneers7665-85Bills7150-80Packers7060-75Cardinals6855-75Cowboys6745-80Ravens6745-75Chiefs6645-80Patriots6540-70Rams6460-70Chargers6450-7549ers6250-70Colts5735-65Browns5750-65Vikings5645-60Bengals5535-70Titans5150-65Eagles4830-55Broncos4740-55Seahawks4740-60Saints4640-60Steelers4640-55Washington4540-55Raiders4435-55Dolphins4330-55Giants3930-50Bears3635-45Falcons3625-45Panthers3535-50Jaguars3125-35Lions2620-35Jets2520-30Texans2415-25ContendersThe Packers could be without every offensive lineman known to mankind, and it wouldn't matter. We talk about the tight range they play within when different pieces are missing, but when this team is at full strength, they can beat anyone on the strength of Aaron Rodgers' arm. That shouldn't be a secret. Their ATS record doesn't lie, even if there were some weird covers early on.The Rams are all in, and I'm getting closer to being all out on them this season. There are reports that Matthew Stafford is dealing with significant injury issues, and missing Robert Woods is a bigger deal than most people realize. Maybe consistently acquiring big-name players that other teams don't mind losing isn't the best strategy for roster building?Having borderline incompetent coaching isn't a great strategy either. The Cowboys drop because Mike McCarthy is a problem, even while acknowledging that they were missing Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. It's also notable that Dan Quinn's strategy played right into Derek Carr's hands. Jerry Jones admitted Ezekiel Elliott was compromised, and yet, Dallas kept running him out there, even after seeing Tony Pollard make the case that he's the fastest man alive with his 100-yard kickoff return touchdown. The Patriots move up a little after beating up on the short-handed Titans, even though the number of rushing yards they gave up was a little concerning. But them being in the contender section is the biggest news ahead of their huge Monday Night Football showdown next week against the Bills. The Spider-Man memesThe Vikings, Browns, 49ers, and Colts all attempted to win with the run game Sunday, and each had varying degrees of success in games that came down to the final play. We could copy-and-paste that sentence every week, but each team has a chance to contend as the weather gets colder. The Vikings drop a little with Dalvin Cook injured, and the Browns do as well because their offense is a mess right now. If the Cleveland attack was close to average, the team would have won in Baltimore. The 49ers won and the Colts lost, but I actually have them both moving up, as Indy showed it could compete with our No. 1.If you've paid any attention to the AFC West in the last decade, you knew to bet on the Broncos at home against the Chargers on Sunday. That's just what happens to Los Angeles in that spot, so we won't crush them for a loss that we should have seen coming, but we will drop them a couple of points. Next week's road game against the Bengals provides them an opportunity for another "zig" that would be appropriate in this NFL season.Needing helpThe Saints need to get healthy to get back above average. The Steelers got healthier but couldn't get a punt block - as they did in L.A. - to turn around this week's blowout. It's becoming clear that Pittsburgh can beat the Seahawks, Bears, Broncos, and (almost) Lions - but it takes more than a few bounces for them to keep pace with anyone better than that group. We got a little high on the Eagles last week, didn't we? While we never liked them as 3.5-point road favorites, there was reason to back Philadelphia. We'll bring them back down to a more reasonable average expectation now.The Panthers need a quarterback, but Cam Newton isn't it, and there are no more quarterbacks on the street that can come in to save the day. It was nice to fade the market overreaction to Newton taking the starting job, but we might not get a third chance after Carolina's bye week. Finally, we congratulate the Jets on a win, which was nice for those of us that bet on the premise the Texans can't be favored over anyone, so all's right with the world there.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy won't be on the sideline Thursday against the New Orleans Saints after entering COVID-19 protocols, the team announced Monday, according to Jane Slater of NFL Network."I feel good. Just a little bit of a scratchy throat," said McCarthy, who tested positive, according to ESPN's Ed Werner. "I thought it was a little carryover from the game. ... I guess it hasn't hit me yet."The 58-year-old coach said in June that Dallas' entire coaching staff was fully vaccinated, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. The Cowboys already had 11 players and coaches on the COVID-19 reserve entering Sunday, including star wide receiver Amari Cooper, who's missed two straight games after testing positive.

Since drafting Russell Wilson in 2012, the Seattle Seahawks have not had a losing season. They've missed the playoffs just once, but they're 3-7 heading into Monday night's game at the Washington Football Team. Wilson has missed time with an injury for the first time in his career, but Seattle's problems seem to run much deeper. What's going on?The obvious place to begin is the quarterback's broken finger. Wilson was sidelined for three games, plus the second half of a loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He clearly wasn't the same in his two starts after rushing back from an injury that was expected to keep him out for six-to-eight weeks. But Wilson also hasn't performed consistently well since his red-hot, MVP-caliber start to the 2020 season. As The Athletic's Mike Sando noted, the Seahawks' offense averaged minus-2.9 expected points added per game in Wilson's last 17 starts, which is the equivalent of a full season. The defense, meanwhile, posted an EPA of 0.5, which is right around the league average, and the special teams have an EPA of 2.9, which is excellent. This remains true even after the Seahawks made multiple moves to appease Wilson, whose frustration with the organization became a dominant offseason storyline. Seattle signed tight end Gerald Everett in free agency, traded for right guard Gabe Jackson, and replaced offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer with Shane Waldron (whose affiliation with Rams coach Sean McVay, it was hoped, would bring a dash of modernity to the attack). The results haven't been there. The Seahawks have scored 30 points just once when Wilson has started. They're also last in third-down conversions (32.4%) despite being third-best in DVOA on second down. The difficulties set in when Seattle faces a third down and long (7 yards or more), which is when the Seahawks rank 31st in DVOA.Collectively, Seattle's offensive line hasn't been terrible, ranking 10th in ESPN's pass-block win rate metric. Individually, however, five different linemen have surrendered at least 13 pressures, per PFF, and 36-year-old left tackle Duane Brown has earned a PFF grade of just 70.5 - the lowest since his rookie year. Steph Chambers / Getty ImagesWilson has been sacked 20 times, though that's largely the result of his tendency to hold the rock too long in an attempt to play hero ball, a longstanding feast-or-famine feature of his game.Drilling down further, Seattle's biggest issue ironically might be traced back to Waldron, whose McVay-inspired scheme has required considerable adjustments to account for Wilson's skill set. McVay's Rams offenses, which utilized Waldron as the pass-game coordinator from 2018-20, were heavily predicated on play-action, working from under center, and attacking the middle of the field with in-breaking routes - three things Wilson is not adept at doing. In his four seasons with McVay, Jared Goff used play-action 29.1% of the time in 2017, 35.8% in 2018, 32.8% in 2019, and 34% in 2020, according to PFF. Goff also attempted passes from under center 37.9% of the time in 2018, 35.1% in 2019, and 35.7% in 2020, per Pro Football Reference. In 2020, the Rams ranked 30th in the league in shotgun usage, per Sports Info Solutions. That doesn't resemble Wilson's profile this season. He's used play-action on just 27.3% of his dropbacks, per PFF, and he's thrown passes from under center at a 21.5% rate - slightly higher than his career mark of 20.9%. The Ringer's Steven Ruiz dug deeper into Wilson's reluctance to attack the middle of the field and observed that his preference for working out of the shotgun is a mismatch for Waldron's outside-zone running scheme, which works best with the QB under center.Wilson has a better career passer rating when under center than when in shotgun (111.4 to 99.5). His adjusted yards per attempt is also higher (9.49 to 7.91) when he's under center, per Pro Football Reference. And his big-time throw percentage (a PFF metric that quantifies pass location and timing into tight-window throws) is tied for fourth in the league (6.9%), even while his turnover-worthy throw percentage (1.7%) is third-best. That's a strong indication that Wilson can consistently deliver good throws. Steph Chambers / Getty ImagesIn addition, the Seahawks rank 20th in early-down pass rate, according to Ben Baldwin's database, and they rank second in dropback EPA on those early downs. This suggests they could be more aggressive on first and second down to avoid putting themselves into so many third and long situations. It also hasn't helped that the team's top draft choice in 2021, wideout D'Wayne Eskridge, missed seven games with a concussion and has played just 16 snaps the last two weeks. The Seahawks still have a chance to play their way out of trouble. Only the winless Detroit Lions have a worse record in the NFC, but with a victory Monday night, Seattle can pull within a game of the conference's final playoff spot. And the team's remaining schedule is 12th-easiest based on opponents' DVOA, per Football Outsiders. But if things don't improve, the Seahawks will have some serious questions to ponder in the offseason. They're currently fifth in the draft order, but their first-round pick belongs to the New York Jets (who somehow convinced Seattle to send them two first-rounders for Jamal Adams, a talented box safety notoriously lacking in cover skills).Would the Seahawks choose to move Wilson, who turns 33 today, to amass draft assets to jump-start a rebuild? Quality quarterbacks remain one of the scarcest commodities in sports, and Wilson is still very much a quality quarterback. But after all the noise he made last offseason, Wilson may want out, and this time, Seattle may decide its best option is to pull that trigger.Dom Cosentino is a senior features writer at theScore.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New Orleans Saints seem ready to make a change at quarterback amid their four-game skid.Taysom Hill will take first-team reps at practice this week over Trevor Siemian in preparation for Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.New Orleans named Siemian the starter after Jameis Winston suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 8. However, Siemian has struggled under center, losing all four of his starts while completing just 57.6% of his throws.Hill, who started four games as Drew Brees' replacement last year, has attempted just eight passes in 2021 and missed four games due to a concussion. The 31-year-old is also currently dealing with a foot injury, reports Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com.Last week, Hill reportedly inked a four-year extension that will pay him $40 million for the do-it-all weapon role he currently occupies but could be worth up to an additional $55 million if he eventually becomes New Orleans' full-time starting quarterback.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey will miss the rest of the 2021 season after being placed on injured reserve for a second time due to an ankle injury, the team announced Monday.McCaffrey was spotted in a walking boot after Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins and a subsequent MRI revealed an injury severe enough to warrant putting him on IR again, which automatically ends a player's season. The Pro Bowler missed most of the 2020 campaign due to multiple injuries after signing a four-year, $64-million contract that April.McCaffrey hurt his hamstring in Week 3 of this season and missed the next five games while on IR. He returned in Week 9 and racked up 241 rushing yards, 180 receiving yards, and one touchdown catch over his next four appearances. The loss of McCaffrey is a significant blow for the Panthers, who remain on the edge of playoff contention with a 5-7 record following back-to-back losses.Chuba Hubbard should start in place of McCaffrey for the remainder of the year. Cam Newton's return to the Carolina Panthers hasn't gone as planned through two starts, but he still has the faith of head coach Matt Rhule.Newton was benched for P.J. Walker in the fourth quarter of Sunday's blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins after going 5-for-21 for 92 yards and two interceptions. However, Rhule confirmed Monday that the 2015 MVP will be under center against the Atlanta Falcons after the team's Week 13 bye."I would absolutely anticipate starting Cam Newton," Rhule said, according to David Newton of ESPN.The head coach added that Walker, who threw for 87 yards and a pick against Miami, could still see the field in the divisional matchup. Rhule said postgame that Walker replaced Newton due to a superior grasp of the team's two-minute offense. While Newton was sacked just once by the Dolphins, he spent most of the game throwing under duress and was hit often."(The) quarterback is only as good as the people around him, but he does have to make those people better," said Rhule, according to team reporter Joe Person.Carolina is now 0-2 with Newton as its starter and 5-7 overall. The former No. 1 overall pick put together a far stronger performance in a close loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 11, throwing two touchdowns and rushing for another.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Just weeks after Odell Beckham Sr. shared a video showing Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield missing throws directed at his son, Odell Beckham Jr., another player's father is voicing their displeasure with the signal-caller.Running back Kareem Hunt's father, Kareem Hunt Sr., took to Facebook to voice his opinion on the Browns passer. "What we see (is) he's limping, he's scared to throw the ball, and they know he's hurt," he wrote in the post.Kareem Sr. played down any comparison of his actions to those of Odell Sr.The rant came during the Browns' 16-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Mayfield, who's dealing with foot, shoulder, and knee issues, completed 18 of 37 pass attempts for 247 yards and a touchdown. He missed some important throws as Cleveland converted just four of 13 third-down opportunities. The defeat marked the third consecutive contest in which the Browns didn't score more than 10 points. However, head coach Kevin Stefanski said he has no plans to bench Mayfield following the team's upcoming bye week."Let me ask you a question, Why would we do that? We're not doing that," he said, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com."It's frustrating. It is very frustrating," Stefanski added.
