Saints' Lattimore gets probation, felony gun charge dismissed
New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore pleaded guilty last week to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon, according to court records accessed by Amie Just of NOLA.com, and was sentenced to one year of probation.Lattimore was arrested in March for possessing a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen. He was originally charged with receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony because the property in question was a gun. His bond was set at $5,000. That charge was dismissed. The 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year, Lattimore earned his third Pro Bowl selection in 2020. The former 11th overall pick inked a five-year, $97-million extension with the Saints in September.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. NFL flexes Chiefs-Broncos into SNF for Week 13
The NFL has moved the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos into the Sunday Night Football slot for Week 13, replacing the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, according to ESPN's Field Yates. The Seahawks and Niners will play at 4:25 p.m. ET rather than under the lights.Kansas City and Denver were slated to play at 1 p.m. ET. The AFC West rivals sit at opposite ends of the division standings, though the Chiefs are only two games ahead in the win column.Week 13 will mark the Broncos' second prime-time outing this season, but their first outside of the less prestigious Thursday Night Football package. The Chiefs have already played in prime time four times and have a Thursday Night Football game awaiting them in Week 15.The NFL introduced flex scheduling in 2006 as a way to ensure more intriguing matchups are featured nationally. The league has the power to begin flexing matchups in and out of Sunday Night Football in Week 5.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. NFL Week 12 teasers: Saving room for a feast of options on the table
If you were hoping to tease touchdown favorites down to -1, this coming week is going to disappoint. If you're like me, you prefer to tease short underdogs up over a touchdown, and this week could be a bonanza. All it's going to take is a little patience. Not all teaser legs are created equal. The biggest mistake novice bettors make is teasing through zero because they're wasting valuable price points on a number the game probably won't land on: a tie. So, how can we maximize the six-point move? How can we get what we're paying for at -270 per leg?Let's use the meat of Thursday's Thanksgiving sandwich between the Raiders and Cowboys as an example.SPREADODDSDAL -7-110DAL -6.5-138DAL -6-145DAL -5.5-150DAL -5-163DAL -4.5-167DAL -4-180DAL -3.5-185DAL -3-230DAL -2.5-260DAL -2-270DAL -1.5-275DAL -1-300The alternative spread gives you the Cowboys -2 at -270. Would you rather that, or the -1 that a teaser leg provides at the same price? What about Cowboys -1 at -270 versus the Cowboys' moneyline of -320?The answers are obvious, but we'll need some options to pair with DAL -1, which is why we turn to the teaser basket for the best options to capture as many key numbers as possible.Teaser basketLet's look at the mathematically optimal plays available for Week 12:TEAMSPREADTEASER LEGJaguars+1+7Dolphins+1+7Jets+2.5+8.5Colts+2.5+8.5Broncos+2.5+8.5Rams+1+7Vikings+3+9Seahawks+1+7Sportsbooks don't love leaving games as a pick'em on the point spread. That's what the moneyline is for, which means they'll often make a game a -1.5 spread in order to give you another market to play into. Also, bettors taking the underdog are more likely to just play the moneyline, which leaves the possibility of a game landing on the favorite winning by one point. That's like when the roulette ball lands on double zero; almost all bets lose. There are four games here that currently sit just off PK and seem destined for at least +1.5. That makes them mathematically viable, no matter what you think of the teams involved. If any of those games reach that point, they can join a trio of 2.5-point spreads that are dying to be teased up through +7 and +8.The Jets are never a fun tease, but what about the Texans makes you think they're likely to get blown out? The Colts have a challenge with the Buccaneers' run defense, but getting 8.5 points on Indy at home is appetizing given the Bucs' struggles on the road this season and that they are on a short week. Then there are the Chargers and Broncos, two teams seemingly incapable of separating - and staying separated - from opponents.Lastly, the Vikings at +3 (-110) is good enough on its own, but even though +9 isn't a key number, getting up over +8 with Minnesota seems unlikely to lose.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Nagy denies report he'll be fired after Lions game
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy denied a report that he's been told Thursday's game will be his last with the team."That is not accurate," Nagy said Tuesday, according to Yahoo Sports' Eric Edholm. "I have great communication with ownership, with (chairman) George (McCaskey), (president) Ted (Phillips), and (general manager) Ryan (Pace), and I have not had any discussions (on that)."Mark Konkol of Patch reported Monday that Nagy was informed Chicago would terminate his contract after its contest against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. The report came just hours after NFL reporter Jordan Schultz claimed an "overwhelming number" of Bears players want Nagy gone."Our focus right now is on these players and Detroit," Nagy added. "That's my job as a coach and a leader."Bears fans chanted "Fire Nagy" during Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The same chant broke out while Nagy was attending his son's high school game Saturday, according to Edholm.Nagy joined Chicago in 2018 and made an immediate impact, helping the Bears clinch the NFC North with a 12-4 record. He was named Coach of the Year that season. However, the 43-year-old has since gone 19-23, including a 3-7 mark so far in 2021.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Dalton to start Thanksgiving vs. Lions as Fields nurses rib injury
The Chicago Bears will start Andy Dalton in Thursday's matchup against the Detroit Lions due to Justin Fields' rib injury, head coach Matt Nagy announced Tuesday, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.Dalton stepped in for Fields after the rookie quarterback was injured in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He completed 11 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns, including a 49-yard score that put Chicago ahead with less than two minutes remaining.Fields reportedly underwent further testing on his rib injury Monday, and the turnaround is believed to be too quick for him to play on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Bears have relied on Dalton before, with the veteran opening the season as the starting quarterback before Fields took over. The 34-year-old has thrown for just 262 yards with one touchdown and one interception in his two starts in 2021.Detroit may counter with a backup quarterback of its own for the Thursday meeting. Jared Goff missed Week 11 due to an oblique injury, which led to Tim Boyle getting the start. It remains to be seen whether Goff can return in time for the Thanksgiving contest. The Bears are third in the NFC North at 3-7, while the winless Lions reside at the bottom of the division at 0-9-1.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Texans cutting Lindsay
The Houston Texans are cutting running back Phillip Lindsay, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Lindsay signed a one-year deal with the Texans in March after spending the first three seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos. The 27-year-old was expected to compete with Mark Ingram and David Johnson for a starting role in Houston, but Lindsay has struggled this year, amassing just 130 yards (2.6 per carry) and one touchdown on the ground through 10 appearances. He only had one rushing attempt in Sunday's win against the Tennessee Titans.Houston also traded Ingram to the New Orleans Saints in October, leaving Johnson and Rex Burkhead as the Texans' primary options at running back.In 2018, Lindsay became the first-ever undrafted offensive rookie to earn a Pro Bowl berth. He topped 1,000 rushing yards in back-to-back campaigns and racked up 17 scrimmage touchdowns through his first two years with the Broncos.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Jerry Jones frustrated by unvaccinated Cooper missing time
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is frustrated that wide receiver Amari Cooper is missing time because he's not vaccinated against COVID-19."Amari Cooper is outstanding. He's one of the highest character guys that you will ever be around in any area. ... But this is a classic case of how it can impact a team," Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan, according to Chase Goodbread of NFL.com. "At the end of the day, this is a team. You cannot win anything individually. ... The point is, it popped us. This did pop us."Cooper tested positive Friday. He missed Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and also won't face the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, as unvaccinated players are required to quarantine for 10 days upon testing positive. Cooper was asymptomatic, Jones said, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. Jones indicated Cooper likely would have been available for the Chiefs game if he'd been vaccinated."If I have a tone, I shouldn't," Jones added, according to Goodbread. "(But) the facts are, it is a 'we' thing when you walk into the locker room. And anybody is being counted on to pull his weight. Everybody expects that. They look around at each other. They understand their rights. They do, we do. Everybody understands our rights and our options as it pertains to those rights."Vaccinated players with no symptoms may return to the team facility after receiving two consecutive negative test results at least 24 hours apart.Jones added there's "something positive" about Cooper being sidelined."He's getting a two-week rest on that (hamstring)," he said.Cooper, the Cowboys' leading receiver in each of the last three seasons, amassed 583 yards and five touchdowns on 44 receptions through the first nine games of the year.Dallas is also unsure about receiver CeeDee Lamb's status for Thursday after he suffered a concussion in the first half against Kansas City.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Giants players frustrated with Jason Garrett
Some offensive players on the New York Giants have grown frustrated with coordinator Jason Garrett and his play-calling throughout the season, reports Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media.Despite a wealth of talent at the skill positions, the Giants rank 25th in the NFL in points per game. They scored only 10 in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football, with their lone touchdown coming on a possession that began at the opponent's 5-yard line. While injuries and a poor offensive line have contributed to their woes, the Giants have routinely struggled to create explosive plays and convert in the red zone under Garrett. They ranked 31st in points last year, Garrett's first season on the job.Giants head coach Joe Judge made Garrett his signature hire in 2020. He tasked the former Dallas Cowboys bench boss with developing quarterback Daniel Jones and orchestrating the offense."I have faith in all the people on our team: players, coaches, everything," Judge said Monday night when asked about his confidence in Garrett, per Rosenblatt. "But look, we'll assess everything as a team and make any move we need to going forward."The Giants fell to 3-7 with their loss to the Buccaneers, digging themselves a larger hole in what was supposed to be a breakthrough campaign for Judge and general manager David Gettleman.Perhaps the greatest disappointment offensively for New York has been the lack of production from Kenny Golladay, who lashed out at Garrett on the sideline earlier this season. The $72-million wide receiver is still looking for his first touchdown as a member of the Giants.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Bucs snap 2-game skid with dominant MNF win over Giants
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tom Brady stepped up in the pocket to scramble, high-stepped a tackler, slid hard for a first down and got up pumping his arm and screaming. That's one way to erase the taste of losing.Brady threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the New York Giants 30-10 on Monday night. The Super Bowl champion Buccaneers (7-3) snapped a two-game skid as Brady avoided dropping three in a row for the first time since 2002.“We’re at a decent point but we can play a lot better than we’ve played,” Brady said. “Hoping our best football is ahead of us.”Brady started 10 for 10 before misfiring on a deep ball to Mike Evans. On the next play, the 44-year-old scrambled 10 yards on third-and-4 to extend Tampa’s drive that ended with Ryan Succop kicking a 25-yard field goal that made it 10-3.“Eleven-yard run. They don’t happen very often so I do remember how far they go," Brady said, unaware it was officially ruled 10 yards.Rob Gronkowski joked that he was open up the seam for a touchdown on the play.“He could've just chucked it up but I saw him running and that was pretty dope," Gronkowski said. “That was pretty impressive.”Daniel Jones threw a TD pass to left tackle Andrew Thomas and the Giants (3-7) stayed close for one half before unraveling.“We have to do a better job of putting our players in position to make plays,” Giants coach Joe Judge said. “We have to make sure we sit down (Tuesday) as a coaching staff and understand how we're going to play this game and give our players a chance to make plays.”Down 17-10, the Giants drove to the Buccaneers 25 on the opening drive of the third quarter before Jones, under pressure from Devin White, threw incomplete on fourth-and-1 after rushing to the line to beat the play clock.Brady then connected with Evans on a 5-yard TD pass to extend the lead to 24-10. Evans set a franchise record with his 72nd touchdown, passing Mike Alstott. He made sure to keep the ball after giving away Brady's 600th TD pass to a fan earlier in the season.“I’m very proud of that accomplishment. Hopefully I can extend it really far,” Evans said. “I’m very proud. A-Train was an unbelievable player. I’m happy to be in the same sentence as him, let alone break his record. It’s a blessing.”Jones threw an interception to 310-pound nose tackle Steve McLendon on New York’s next possession, but Tampa settled for Succop’s 40-yard field goal despite starting at the Giants 37. It was McLendon's first career pick in 12 seasons.Jones was picked by Mike Edwards in the fourth quarter and Succop hit a 30-yarder to cap the scoring.Brady finished 30 of 46 with one interception. He improved to 6-1 against the Giants in the regular season but has lost two Super Bowls to New York, including one that prevented New England from a perfect season. The seven-time Super Bowl champion leads the NFL with 29 TD passes and is second in yards passing with 3,172.Gronkowski was back in Tampa’s lineup after missing five of the previous six games. Brady targeted his buddy eight times, connecting with the four-time All-Pro tight end on six passes for 71 yards.Star running back Saquon Barkley returned for the Giants after missing four games with a sprained ankle but only had 25 yards rushing on six carries.Jones was sacked twice by a ferocious defense that was missing defensive tackle Vita Vea due to a knee injury.Brady came out firing, completing his first five passes, including a 13-yard TD toss to Chris Godwin. The Giants tied it at 10-10 after Evans let a pass bounce off his hands and right to Adoree Jackson, who returned the pick 5 yards to the Buccaneers 10.Jones lofted a 2-yard TD pass to Thomas, who had to jump as he was backing up to haul it in. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Thomas, wearing a brace on his right arm, was back after missing four games. He celebrated his first career reception with the rest of the offensive line circling around him.TURN OFF THE LIGHTSThe Giants have lost 10 straight games in prime time, including contests at Washington and Kansas City this season.RAZZLE-DAZZLEAfter using an offensive lineman as a receiver, the Giants had rookie receiver Kardarius Toney throw a deep pass to Darius Slayton that fell incomplete. Cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting was initially called for pass interference on the play, but the flag was picked up.INJURIESGiants: Toney suffered a quad bruise in the fourth quarter. ... FS Logan Ryan was out because of COVID-19 protocols. ... TE Kyle Rudolph left with an ankle injury in the third quarter.Buccaneers: LG Ali Marpet left in the second quarter with an oblique strain.UP NEXTGiants: Host the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6) on Sunday.Buccaneers: Visit the Indianapolis Colts (6-5) on Sunday.___Follow Rob Maaddi on Twitter at https://twitter.com/robmaaddi and his work can be found at https://apnews.com/search/robmaaddi___More AP NFL coverage: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl and https://twitter.com/AP_NFLCopyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Johnson is also the more explosive option and the one more likely to earn passing-down work.A committee is almost guaranteed, so expectations need to be kept in check - which is why we're not suggesting a bigger bid here. Barkley to return from ankle injury on MNF
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is cleared to return following a four-game absence. The star running back is officially active for Monday night's contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced.Barkley was a limited participant in practice all week, leading the Giants to list him as questionable on the injury report.A false positive COVID-19 test wiped out any chance of Barkley returning in Week 10; it's not clear if he would have been ready to return at that point anyway. The 24-year-old will look to get going against a Buccaneers team that boasts the No. 1 rush defense in the NFL. Barkley has averaged just 3.6 yards per carry over five outings this season.Injuries have impacted three of Barkley's first four NFL seasons. A sprained ankle cost the 2018 No. 2 pick three games in 2019, while a torn ACL wiped out his 2020 campaign in Week 2.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Super Bowl odds update: Chiefs back in title mix after dominant Week 11 win
For a brief moment, it looked like the Chiefs had fallen from the ranks of the NFL's elite. Four weeks later, it's a whole different story.Kansas City (+650) vaulted its way to second place on the Super Bowl oddsboard with Sunday's dominant 19-9 win over the Cowboys, who entered the league averaging the most points and yards per game. Dallas was no match for the Chiefs' much-improved defense, which has been the main reason behind a surprising 4-0 November record. Remember, this team was dealing as high as +1600 at some shops.TEAMODDSTampa Bay Buccaneers+550Kansas City Chiefs+650Buffalo Bills+800Arizona Cardinals+800Los Angeles Rams+800Green Bay Packers+1000Dallas Cowboys+1100New England Patriots+1200Baltimore Ravens+1200Tennessee Titans+1600Los Angeles Chargers+2500Indianapolis Colts+3300Cincinnati Bengals+4000Cleveland Browns+4000San Francisco 49ers+5000Minnesota Vikings+6000Philadelphia Eagles+6500Pittsburgh Steelers+7000New Orleans Saints+8000Denver Broncos+10000Las Vegas Raiders+10000Carolina Panthers+20000Seattle Seahawks+20000Washington Football Team+25000Chicago Bears+50000Miami Dolphins+50000Atlanta Falcons+50000New York Giants+50000Jacksonville Jaguars+100000New York Jets+100000Detroit Lions+100000Houston Texabs+100000Entering this month, Kansas City had the worst defense in the NFL by nearly any statistical measure and had dropped four of its previous six games - allowing 27 points or more in all four losses. Since then, this group has held its last four opponents to an average of 11.8 points, with none of those four teams scoring more than 17 points. The difference has largely been about pressuring the quarterback and making life easier on the back end. In Week 1-7, the Chiefs recorded a combined eight sacks and brought down the QB multiple times in just two games (both wins). Over the past four weeks, Kansas City has recorded a whopping 11 sacks - including five on Sunday - and, unsurprisingly, held all four opponents below 250 passing yards.Perhaps the scariest part is that this offense is still finding its rhythm. This group is just eight days removed from dropping 41 points on the Raiders and it still ranks first in yards per drive (42.7) and third in points (2.7). Yet it hasn't looked anything close to the otherworldly scoring machine we've grown accustomed to over the last three seasons. That could change soon. Kansas City has faced one of the toughest schedules in the NFL so far but doesn't play a team with a current record better than 6-4 in its final six games following a Week 12 bye. It's the perfect opportunity for Patrick Mahomes and Co. to rediscover what has made this team so dangerous. It's still too early to pay this short of a price on a team that has arguably one complete win this entire season. Yet Sunday's victory over the Cowboys was the Chiefs' most impressive victory of the season and validated a stretch of strong play on defense. If they can sustain it against a manageable slate down the stretch, the rest of the league is in trouble.C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. Report: Saints' Hill inks 4-year deal worth $40M-$95M depending on position
The New Orleans Saints signed quarterback Taysom Hill to a unique, hybrid four-year contract extension that could pay him anywhere between $40 million and $95 million depending on the position he plays, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Hill will reportedly receive $40 million for the do-it-all weapon role he currently occupies and up to an additional $55 million if he becomes New Orleans' full-time starting quarterback. He's also guaranteed $22.5 million, added Schefter. The Saints gave Hill a voidable four-year, $140-million extension in March to create short-term salary-cap savings. The signal-caller's deal was set to automatically expire after this year, making him a free agent.New Orleans would have been on the hook for an $8.9-million dead-cap hit in 2022 on his previous extension, per Spotrac. His new contract dodges that dead-money hit.
McCarthy 'hopeful' Lamb can clear concussion protocol to play vs. Raiders
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said he's "hopeful" CeeDee Lamb can get through concussion protocol in time to play in Thursday's meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News.McCarthy added that Lamb attended all the team meetings Monday. The wideout missed the second half of Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with a concussion after slamming the back of his head against the turf.Lamb leads Dallas with 50 receptions for 740 yards and six touchdowns. The Cowboys could be missing their top two receivers if Lamb doesn't play Thursday as Amari Cooper remains on the COVID-19 list and isn't expected to suit up.Dallas enters the matchup atop the NFC East with a 7-3 record.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Reddick: Panthers need to 'throw the friendships out the way'
Haason Reddick delivered a wake-up call to the Carolina Panthers' leadership core Monday in the aftermath of another disheartening loss."We've got to hold everybody accountable," the edge rusher told reporters. "It wasn't good enough. Have to throw the friendships out the way, the buddy-buddy out the way."Carolina fell at home to the Washington Football Team on Sunday, losing for the sixth time in its last eight games. The Panthers began the season 3-0 but are outside of the playoff picture amid their porous stretch."Sometimes guys might see somebody do something wrong and instead of saying something or getting on the person that's doing something wrong, (they) tend to show a blind eye," Reddick said. "Or be like, 'Hey, c'mon now' - that soft tone - instead of a stern, 'Hey! Do your job, get your job done!' type of tone."The 27-year-old added that the same attitude has contributed to the Panthers' penalty problems. Carolina has been flagged a league-high 81 times."It's the same thing," he said. "The veterans, the guys that are doing it right at a high percentage has to step up, speak, and demand that everybody does it the right way. That's basically it. Our guys who are doing it right are guys that's leaders, we got to step up and start demanding."Reddick has flourished with the Panthers on an individual level, as his 10.5 sacks are tied for the third-most in the NFL. The 27-year-old signed a one-year contract with Carolina in the offseason after four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. NFL Week 11 betting takeaways: Who has the best excuses?
No one is good. That's an obvious exaggeration, but it's a four-word phrase to help any NFL bettor remember this is a week-to-week league. The Buccaneers remain atop my ratings ahead of their Monday Night Football clash with the Giants, but it's in part because they have the best excuses. With Tampa missing key players on both sides of the ball, it's easy to believe in what it can be when back to full strength. Even if the expectation before the cavalry arrives is close to the high 60s, a Super Bowl win from 10 months ago helps the team's credibility.TEAMRATINGRANGEBuccaneers7765-85Bills7150-80Cowboys6945-80Rams6960-75Packers6860-75Cardinals6855-75Ravens6745-75Chiefs6645-80Chargers6650-75Patriots6340-7049ers5950-65Vikings5945-60Browns5955-75Colts5735-60Saints5545-65Bengals5435-70Steelers5240-60Titans5150-65Eagles5130-60Broncos4740-55Seahawks4640-60Washington4540-55Panthers4535-55Raiders4435-55Dolphins3930-55Bears3835-50Giants3730-50Falcons3525-50Jaguars3125-40Lions2620-35Jets2520-35Texans2415-30Running out of excusesThe Bills were always confusing as 7/7.5-point favorites against a live Colts team that gave them all they could handle in last year's playoffs. But a total annihilation was unexpected, and it requires a drop down to 71/100. When things are good for Buffalo, they're really good, so the team's range remains high. But the low-end performances are piling up.Sunday's game in Seattle marked the unofficial end of the Russell Wilson-Pete Carroll era; the Seahawks don't have any excuses for that performance in a game they had to win to keep their season alive. The pieces on the field likely won't add up to fair performance going forward, so we'll get out ahead of their precipitous drop.No excuses necessaryThe Cardinals get another road win with Colt McCoy under center, but last week can't be forgotten. Arizona's average rating goes unchanged with the team entering its bye and Kyler Murray set to return in Week 13.The Cowboys lost - and covered neither the spread nor the teasers - but the fact they weren't blown out in a situation that could have spiraled out of control was impressive. Missing its best wide receivers and pass-rushers, Dallas could have found itself in a rout, but the Cowboys hung in with the Chiefs (whose rating also doesn't change). The market massively downgraded the Ravens after they announced Lamar Jackson's absence - and the move down to a near pick'em against the Bears was almost insufficient. Tyler Huntley was not good, and though Baltimore won, it's clear the low end of the Ravens' range wasn't low enough.Spider-Man memesIn a season with such intense week-to-week fluctuation, there are a few teams that might see a version of themselves in a cross-conference opponent.Other than Baker Mayfield, the Browns were nearly as healthy as they've been all season and faced a professional quarterback in name only. They barely won and now require a ratings drop to the level of the 49ers. San Francisco got a bump after beating the Rams and consolidated that with a win over the Jaguars, but the Browns and 49ers remain equally frustrating overall. The Colts, meanwhile, are taking the mantle from the Vikings - for now - as the team that delivers high-end performances exclusively as an underdog. If these clubs met on a neutral field, it would have to be a pick'em. We'll sit back and watch Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz point at each other in confusion. As we predicted elsewhere, the Titans aren't the same without Derrick Henry. But at least they've banked the wins, even after giving one back Sunday. If the market wants to keep overvaluing this version of the team, we'll continue to bet against it. But that seems unlikely with a trip to face the market-darling Patriots on deck.Back-half moversThe Eagles have played to their peak for arguably four straight weeks; maybe that's just their average. It seems unlikely Philadelphia can go higher, but covering comfortably and often is the best sign that a team might be better than average. It's time to drop the Falcons, Panthers, Bears, and Raiders. The Jets, Jaguars, and Lions don't move because they're already so low - the bar they have to clear is almost on the ground. The Texans win! They faced the same Titans team that lost to the Jets, though, so the excitement will be tempered. Still, the market has Houston at -3 for next week's clash with the Jets. That feels wrong.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. If there's a bad beat to be had, Matt will find it. Find him on Twitter @mrussauthentic.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Mayfield scoffs at home crowd boos: 'Don't really care'
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield isn't worried about the fans who booed him Sunday as he labored through a 13-10 win over the Detroit Lions."Those are probably the same fans that won't be quiet while we're on offense and trying to operate," he told reporters Monday. "So, don't really care."Mayfield heard jeers from the home crowd more than once in the second half. He finished the contest 15 of 29 for 176 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.Rather than stay on the field to celebrate the win, Mayfield took off for the locker room when the game ended and then skipped his postgame press conference."I was frustrated, among other things," he said. "I've never dodged any questions or hid away from that, so it's not about that."The 26-year-old also rejected any notion that he avoided responsibility for his poor outing by not talking to the media after the game."I'd be the first to tell you I played like shit," he said. "So, it's not about accountable and I don't owe you guys any of that. I owe that to my teammates and I talked to them, so that's what matters."Mayfield has endured a rocky season, despite it beginning with championship aspirations following a promising 2020 campaign and an offseason that saw Cleveland upgrade its roster. He's played most of the 2021 season with a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder and has battled recent foot and knee injuries. But both Mayfield and head coach Kevin Stefanski said the quarterback will continue to start as long as he feels healthy enough to do so."If he's ready to go, yes, he'll start," Stefanski said. The Browns will meet the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 12 before their bye. Cleveland sits last in the AFC North at 5-4, but the Browns aren't far off from the 7-3 Ravens for first place in the division.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Report: Packers' Jenkins out for season with torn ACL
Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins will miss the remainder of the campaign after tests confirm he suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.A Pro Bowler at guard last season, Jenkins started eight games at left tackle this year with All-Pro David Bakhtiari still rehabbing from a torn ACL sustained in January.Bakhtiari was activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list on Nov. 10 but has yet to make his return. The Packers hope to get the veteran back on the field sometime in December, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Green Bay will play the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12 before entering its bye week, so Bakhtiari could be in line to make his season debut in Week 14.Yosh Nijman will man the left tackle spot until Bakhtiari is ready to play.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Fields suffers rib injury in loss to Ravens
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields injured his ribs in the third quarter of Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was unable to finish the game.Andy Dalton relieved the rookie and threw a 60-yard touchdown to Darnell Mooney on his second snap, giving Chicago a 7-6 lead. Dalton finished the afternoon with 201 yards and two touchdowns on 11-of-23 passing. The Bears waited until early in the fourth quarter to rule Fields out for the remainder of the contest. He went 4-for-11 for 79 yards with a 62.3 passer rating before exiting.Bears head coach Matt Nagy had no update postgame on the severity of Fields' injury, according to Mark Grote of 670 The Score. The rookie passer, who'll undergo more tests Monday, is believed to have suffered bruised ribs, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's unclear who will be under center for the Bears in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions next Thursday, Nagy added.Fields entered Week 11 with 1,282 yards, four touchdowns, and eight interceptions through the air across nine appearances.Dalton started the first two games of the season before an injury gave way to Fields.Chicago drafted Fields 11th overall after trading up in the first round.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Giants-Buccaneers best bets: Can Tampa bounce back on MNF?
Nearly a month has passed since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last won a football game, and they'll be looking to end that dubious streak against the pesky New York Giants, who have historically given Tom Brady trouble. Here's how we're betting Giants-Bucs:C Jackson Cowart: Brady under 296.5 passing yardsThe Buccaneers are in a rut, and their one-time MVP favorite has been the culprit. Brady had one of the worst halves of his career in last week's loss to Washington, and he's now thrown for fewer than 300 yards in three of his last four starts and five of his nine games overall this season. The best way to attack the Giants' defense isn't through the air but on the ground. New York ranks 30th in run defense DVOA but is 11th against the pass with 249.9 yards allowed per game, and it's held each of the last four opposing quarterbacks to fewer than 300 yards. With the Giants' offense unlikely to put much pressure on the Bucs' vaunted defense, expect Brady and Co. to take a more conservative approach in a clear bounce-back spot, which should mean yet another modest stat line for the 44-year-old passer.Alex Moretto: Over 50I do believe the Giants are live here - Daniel Jones flourishes both as a 'dog and on the road, and he's got close to a full complement of weapons here. That being said, the Bucs have been virtually untouchable at home this season. Offensively, they've had their way in Tampa, while the Giants' defense has struggled when stepping up in class.I expect the Bucs' offense to get theirs, and with Brady angry following back-to-back losses, they'll keep their foot on the gas regardless of the score. Whether or not the Giants keep pace and cover, they can certainly do their part to contribute to the over. After dealing with a rash of injuries all season, everyone but Sterling Shepard is back for the Giants' offense. Saquon Barkley's return couldn't have come at a better time, as the Bucs will be without monster run-stopper Vita Vea. Jones will be able to move this offense up and down the field in a game that could become something of a track meet.Matt Russell: Giants +11.5Can I pass on this game?Full disclosure: I have the Buccaneers in a big survivor contest, so you can understand why I don't care about anything in this game beyond a Bucs win. That said, there's a universe where I have no bias and would be on the Giants getting double digits on the road. The part of me that's hoping for a Tampa Bay outright win is concerned about the combination of Barkley being back and Vea being out of the anchor position in the Bucs' defensive line. Maybe we find a middle here with a 10-point Tampa win.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Lamb suffers concussion in loss to Chiefs
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb didn't play the second half of Sunday's 19-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to a concussion.Lamb slammed the back of his head against the ground late in the second quarter and was evaluated at halftime.
Jonathan Taylor's historic 5-TD day powers Colts past Bills
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor scored five touchdowns in a 41-15 rout of the Buffalo Bills, owners of the league's top-ranked defense. With his gigantic showing Sunday, Taylor became the first player in Colts franchise history to score five scrimmage touchdowns in a game, according to StatMuse.Taylor opened the game with three touchdowns before halftime and found the end zone twice more in the third quarter to put a stamp on the blowout victory. The 22-year-old finished the day with 185 rushing yards and 204 total yards from scrimmage. It marked his eighth consecutive game with at least 100 yards from scrimmage and a rushing touchdown, tying Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson for the league record, per NFL Research. The string of impressive performances also made Taylor the first player to exceed 1,000 rushing yards this season. He currently sits at 1,122 yards after Sunday's win and is on pace for 1,734 rushing yards over 17 games. The Colts have relied heavily on Taylor during their three-game win streak. The big win over Buffalo moves Indianapolis to 6-5.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Kyler Murray out vs. Seahawks
The Arizona Cardinals will be without Kyler Murray for a third straight game.Arizona ruled Murray inactive for Sunday's meeting with the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury.DeAndre Hopkins, whom the Cardinals ruled out Friday, will also miss his third straight contest due to a hamstring ailment. While Hopkins failed to practice the entire week, Murray participated in a limited capacity in every session before being deemed a game-time decision.Colt McCoy is set to start at quarterback once again with Murray out. The Cardinals are 1-1 with the veteran passer under center. He's thrown for 356 yards with one touchdown and one interception this season.Hopkins and Murray will have time to get back to 100% as Arizona has a bye week following its bout against the Seahawks.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lamar out vs. Bears due to illness
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson won't play in Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears due to a non-COVID-19 illness, the team announced.Tyler Huntley will start against the Bears, while Trace McSorley will act as the backup.Jackson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he returned for Friday's session and wasn't initially given a health designation. However, the quarterback's status was thrown into doubt after the Ravens downgraded him to questionable Saturday.Several other Ravens players were affected by a cold that swept through the team's facility last week, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Jackson has dealt with illnesses several times this season but hadn't missed a start prior to this week. He sat out a practice in Weeks 3 and 6 after becoming sick. The 24-year-old missed one game last year after testing positive for COVID-19 and was sidelined during training camp due to a second bout of the virus.Baltimore will also be without leading receiver Marquise Brown, who's dealing with a thigh injury.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lions' Goff inactive vs. Browns while nursing oblique injury
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is inactive Sunday against the Cleveland Browns due to an oblique injury.Goff was previously listed as doubtful with the ailment.Tim Boyle will start in place of Goff, whose availability for Thanksgiving Day versus the Chicago Bears is also in jeopardy, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Goff injured his oblique in Week 10 when the Lions tied the Pittsburgh Steelers to avoid their ninth straight loss to begin the campaign. The 27-year-old has thrown for 2,109 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions this season.Boyle is in his first year with Detroit after spending three campaigns with the Green Bay Packers. The Lions activated him from injured reserve after he missed the first half of the season with a broken thumb.Boyle threw four passes throughout his Packers tenure, completing three of them for 15 yards.David Blough will back up Boyle with Goff on the shelf.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Rodgers likely needs to play through toe injury for rest of season
Aaron Rodgers won't be at full strength as the Green Bay Packers look to make a Super Bowl run.The MVP quarterback will likely need to play through his current toe injury for the rest of the season, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL NetworkRodgers has refused to say how he suffered the injury. He appeared on the injury report ahead of last week's win over the Seattle Seahawks after Green Bay activated him from the COVID-19 list. The 37-year-old didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and was limited to just 15 reps Friday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The Packers hope Rodgers' injury will improve over their Week 13 bye, but there is concern about his lack of practice time moving forward, added Pelissero.Rodgers has thrown for 2,186 yards and 17 touchdowns against four interceptions in nine appearances this season. Report: McCoy on track to start Week 11 over injured Murray
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy is on track to start Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks as Kyler Murray continues to battle an ankle injury, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Cardinals will likely wait until pregame warmups to officially determine Murray's status, Schefter adds.McCoy has replaced Murray over the last two weeks, posting a 1-1 record. The 35-year-old completed 71.7% of his passes while tossing one touchdown and one interception over those games. Arizona has averaged 20.5 points per contest with him under center.Murray, who was among the leading MVP candidates before suffering the injury, said Wednesday he's "pretty close" to returning. The third-year signal-caller has racked up 2,276 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding three scores on the ground.Arizona also won't have star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins due to a hamstring injury.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Steelers-Chargers best bets: How we're betting Sunday Night Football
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers look for redemption in a Week 11 game that could go a long way in deciding the AFC wild-card race. Here's how we're betting Steelers-Chargers:C Jackson Cowart: Chargers -5The only people surprised by the Steelers' embarrassing 16-16 tie with the Lions a week ago are those who still view them as a good team. Spoiler alert: they aren't.Pittsburgh is 3-6 ATS and ranks near the bottom of the league in DVOA rating, PFF team grade, and net yards per play (-0.62). It also has posted a negative point differential (-8) on the season despite playing one of the easiest schedules in the NFL to this point. The Chargers have lost three of their last four games - all coming against teams with positive scoring margins - but are still a top-half team by nearly any metric despite facing the toughest schedule in the league, per Football Outsiders. This team has shown elite upside when Justin Herbert is cooking and should get back on track in arguably its easiest matchup since Week 1.Alex Moretto: Over 47.5Nothing about a Pittsburgh game shouts points, but I expect to see them here. Herbert has been underwhelming more often than not over the last four games, but this is a good spot for him to get on track against a Steelers defense without T.J. Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Joe Haden. That's going to offer Herbert extra time in the pocket to expose a suddenly thin secondary. While I expect Los Angeles to move the ball efficiently, the same will be true of the Steelers. The Chargers have struggled defensively, especially on the ground where they've surrendered a league-worst 4.8 yards per rush and 155.1 yards per game. To make matters worse, they're now dealing with a cluster of injuries on the defensive line as Linval Joseph, Christian Covington, and Jerry Tillery are all set to miss the game.Last week, I didn't think Mason Rudolph would be a downgrade at all compared to 2021 Ben Roethlisberger, but I was proven very wrong. Rudolph was a nightmare and actually has this team excited to get Ben back. Chase Claypool is also set to return here. Get your Steelers and Chargers players in your fantasy lineups this week for what will be an exciting finale to Sunday's slate.Matt Russell: Chargers -5This is an opportunity to take advantage of uncertainty. With all the lineup confusion this week, the line has teetered anywhere from -4 to -6.5.It seems like the Chargers are going to avoid the worst-case scenario after Joey Bosa hit the COVID list early in the week, as he will likely be available. Herbert will have more than enough time here - thanks to awesome rookie Rashawn Slater - to pick apart an injured Steelers secondary. This line may stay under -6 because of Roethlisberger's return, which is only a blessing, as anything under -7 is worth a play on the Chargers.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lamar questionable vs. Bears with illness, Brown out with thigh injury
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears after being added to the injury report Saturday due to a non-COVID-19 illness.Jackson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he seemed set to play in Week 11 after returning for Friday's session and not initially receiving a health designation for the game.Jackson is traveling with the team to Chicago, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.Baltimore also downgraded wide receiver Marquise Brown to out Saturday due to a thigh injury. Brown leads the Ravens with 719 yards and six touchdown catches.Tyler Huntley would likely get the start If Jackson can't play, with Trace McSorley moving from the practice squad to act as backup.Baltimore is in a highly competitive race for the AFC North crown, with two games separating all four teams. The 6-3 Ravens lead the division ahead of the 5-3 Pittsburgh Steelers, 5-4 Cincinnati Bengals, and 5-5 Cleveland Browns.Jackson is in the midst of another MVP-caliber campaign. The 24-year-old has thrown for 2,447 yards and 14 touchdowns against eight interceptions while adding 639 yards and two scores on the ground.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Chiefs' Edwards-Helaire activated from IR, questionable to play vs. Cowboys
The Kansas City Chiefs activated running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced Saturday. However, the 22-year-old might not be ready to return as he was listed as questionable with a knee injury.Edwards-Helaire missed the last five contests after suffering an MCL sprain in Week 5.The Chiefs designated the running back to return from IR prior to Week 10 but opted not to activate him ahead of a blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders.Edwards-Helaire has produced 304 rushing yards and two receiving touchdowns in five appearances this season.Darrel Williams stepped up in Edwards-Helaire's absence. He racked up 101 receiving yards, 43 rushing yards, and one touchdown catch against the Raiders.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. NFL Week 11 player props: Finding value down the board to stay hot
Even I couldn't believe how well the Week 10 player props did. In the throws of the usual Sunday mayhem, I looked at the boxscore for Browns-Patriots and saw Kendrick Bourne had caught a 48-yard pass, which would have lost our play on Mac Jones' longest completion being under 36.5 yards. Except that Brian Hoyer threw the completion! What a pleasant surprise from a game not worth watching past halftime. With that, we finished the day 8-2 and sit at an outstanding 63-39-1 on the season.Baker Mayfield under 26.5 pass attemptsThe Browns are favored by double digits, and the number is climbing. Cleveland blows out teams when the defense causes havoc in an opponent's backfield and the offense runs effectively to allow deep passes for Mayfield. The Browns don't want a high-volume passing approach, and the Lions won't induce that.Latavius Murray anytime TD (+140)The Ravens cut Le'veon Bell this week, which would seem to make room on the roster for Latavius Murray's return after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. Murray recorded four touchdowns in six games before missing time, and no one on the Ravens has grabbed the short-yardage rushing reigns. While he won't get a ton of carries, he'll be back in there at the goal line against the Bears' shoddy run defense.D'Onta Foreman over 58.5 rushing yardsThe first of a rare two-in-one game for our weekly prop plays. We'll start with a Texan draftee who's in line for a bigger role this week for Tennessee.Foreman was a rookie in 2017 with Houston the last time he got his shot. He averaged six yards per carry in the game before being carted off with a leg injury. Foreman wasn't the same after returning, and he eventually missed the entire 2019 season. Following 22 carries last campaign, the former Texas Longhorn is once again ready for the workload this Sunday against his former team.David Johnson over 35.5 rushing + receiving yardsAdmittedly, this is a deep pull, but the Texans are now three weeks removed from trading Mark Ingram, and the touches are up for grabs in their backfield. After Houston turned the ball over four times in Miami, look for Tyrod Taylor to keep it conservative and include Johnson in the passing game, as well as in a handful of read-option carries. All it takes is one decent gain by a player who could be getting an increase in snaps after the bye week.Jack Doyle (+600), Mo Alie-Cox anytime TD (+500)Let's split one unit evenly between the Colts' two primary tight ends. In last season's wild-card game, Indianapolis' tight ends combined for 14 receptions, 136 yards, and a touchdown. With a clear matchup advantage and some potentially sketchy weather in Orchard Park, expect the Colts to work the short middle of the field and the play-action pass in the red zone. We'll net at least two units on this gambit if one of these two tight ends can score, and who knows, maybe both do?Myles Gaskin over 22.5 receiving yardsWe've used this angle to great success in the past as the Jets continue to be terrible at defending running backs in the passing game. Opposing running backs average 7.5 receptions and 71.4 yards per contest against New York this season. Myles Gaskin has averaged five targets per game when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa starts, so look for him to get a couple of extra looks versus the Jets.Cam Newton under 199.5 passing yardsI know this number seems low, but doesn't that confirm the likelihood of Cam Newton coming off the couch and succeeding instantly as a starting NFL quarterback?Ron Rivera should have a pretty good idea of what throws he'd like to force Newton to make, and he's more than aware of Christian McCaffrey's ability out of the backfield. Newton will struggle in his first full game of action.Jeff Wilson Jr. over 79.5 rushing yardsI know this number seems high, but Wilson will be the featured running back with Elijah Mitchell doubtful to play. Wilson recorded 10 carries as the second option last week. Anytime you can pinpoint a specific 49ers runner to get the most carries, you take your chances on their over.Joe Burrow over 267.5 passing yardsThis is the same handicap that we had for the "Patrick Mahomes over" last week. Joe Burrow can go over his total in a highly competitive game or in a blowout. Why run it back again? I don't trust the Raiders coaching staff to make any discernible changes defensively, and they don't have the depth to do so anyway.Cedric Wilson over 34.5 receiving yardsWith Amari Cooper out, the initial thought is the volume will be shifted to CeeDee Lamb. Maybe it will be, but his 80.5 yards total is clearly adjusted for that. With Michael Gallup returning from injury, the first instinct is to assume he'll replace some of Cooper's volume, but his 54.5 yards total also indicates that. So we'll play the receiver that has a low total but should see an increase in volume in three-receiver sets.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Roethlisberger passes COVID-19 protocol, expected to play vs. Chargers
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be activated to the team's 53-man roster after passing the NFL's COVID-19 protocols, the club's director of communications Burt Lauten announced Saturday.Roethlisberger is expected to start Sunday night for a road game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He'll fly separately from the team's charter plane Saturday afternoon.Mason Rudolph started in Big Ben's place in Week 10, leading the Steelers to a 16-16 draw against the winless Detroit Lions.Roethlisberger has completed 65.6% of his passes for 1,986 yards with 10 touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 90.0 passer rating over eight games this season.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Week 11 O/U best bets: Bills to exploit Colts' suspect secondary
We went 2-1 on our total plays for the second week in a row last week and the third time in the last four. Can we pull off the perfect sweep in Week 11?Washington @ Panthers (-3.5, 43), 1 p.m. ETCarolina was a garbage-time field goal away from an 8-2 record to the under after Sunday's 34-10 win over the Cardinals. That shouldn't come as a surprise, as we've been riding the Panthers as under cash cows all season long. The catalyst is this team's stellar defense, which ranks No. 1 in yards allowed per drive (23.31) and No. 2 in points allowed per drive (1.56) despite lousy field position on a majority of opposing drives. That's the fault of an enigmatic offense that cracked 30 points last week for the first time all season.Washington's 29-point effort in Week 10 was its best since early October after scoring just one touchdown in each of its prior three games. If you're worried about Cam Newton's resurgence, betting under Washington's team total might be the safer call, but the full-game total should fall well below this mark, too.Pick: Under 43Lions @ Browns (-12, 42.5), 1 p.m.Which of these offenses do you trust to crack 25 points? Surely it's not the Browns, who have been held to 17 or fewer points in five of their last seven games. The Lions haven't been much better, scoring fewer than 20 points in eight consecutive contests after managing 16 points through five quarters in Pittsburgh a week ago.The situation is Cleveland is particularly worrisome after last week's 7-point showing against the Patriots, who knocked Baker Mayfield out of the game with a knee injury. He's day-to-day and will likely play in this one, but can he finish it? He's been sacked 13 times across his last four starts and has missed snaps in three of those four contests. The Browns' defense has been torched on occasion this year, but it's still held three of its last four opponents to 16 points or less. Barring a pair of defensive touchdowns or a Nick Chubb takeover, this should finish comfortably under.Pick: Under 42.5Colts @ Bills (-7, 50), 1 p.m.In the right matchup, the Colts' defense is among the best in the league. In the wrong one, it's a liability. Indianapolis ranks No. 2 in rush defense DVOA but is just No. 23 against the pass, which is a dangerous split against MVP favorite Josh Allen and the Bills' elite aerial attack.Buffalo bounced back in a big way last week with a 45-point effort against the Jets, who surrendered 366 yards through the air in a game that was never close. This contest should be more competitive, but the Colts' shoddy secondary is no match for the NFL's most prolific offense on a per-drive basis.Keep an eye on Stefon Diggs, who enters Week 11 ranked seventh in receiving yards (750), sixth in first downs (38), and fifth in receptions of 40-plus yards (4). If he can get behind Indy's last line of defense once or twice on Sunday, it'll help push this game over in a hurry.Pick: Over 50C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. Seahawks' Carson to undergo season-ending neck surgery
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll announced Friday that running back Chris Carson will undergo season-ending neck surgery, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson.Carson is opting to have the surgery now so that he can return to the field next season, Carroll said. The 27-year-old rushed for three touchdowns and 232 yards with a 4.3 yards-per-carry average in four contests this year.Carson remains on Seattle's injured reserve after missing four games in the hope of playing later in the campaign. He recently returned to practice but will now turn his focus toward a comeback in 2022.Seattle will officially hand over the keys to their rushing attack to a stable of tailbacks. Alex Collins leads the team with 345 rushing yards and has managed two touchdowns and 4.1 yards per carry.Carroll is anticipating a bigger role for Rashaad Penny moving forward."We're anxious to see him get going," Carroll said, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. Cooper on COVID-19 list, reportedly out at least 2 games
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper will miss at least two games after testing positive for COVID-19 as an unvaccinated player, sources told ESPN's Todd Archer. The Cowboys placed Cooper on the COVID-19 list Friday, ruling him out of Sunday's clash with the Kansas City Chiefs. He'll also have to sit out the Thanksgiving Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders next Thursday, as unvaccinated players are required to quarantine for 10 days upon testing positive.Cooper will have a chance to return the following Thursday against the New Orleans Saints but will have to clear protocols first.CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Cedrick Wilson will lead the Cowboys' passing offense into their battle with Patrick Mahomes and the high-flying Chiefs. Noah Brown and Malik Turner should see expanded roles.Cooper is second on the team to Lamb in catches (53), receiving yards (583), and receiving touchdowns (five) after nine games this season. The 7-2 Cowboys sit atop the NFC East after winning seven of their last eight contests, while the 6-4 Chiefs lead the AFC West following three straight victories.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Saints' Kamara to miss 2nd straight game due to knee injury
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a knee injury, the team announced Friday. He missed the Saints' 23-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 10 as well.New Orleans will also be without starting offensive tackles Ryan Ramczyk and Terron Armstead on Sunday.Kamara was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice but didn't take part in subsequent sessions later in the week.Running back Mark Ingram will be featured once again with Kamara sidelined. The 31-year-old veteran rushed for 47 yards on 14 carries last weekend and became the Saints' all-time leading rusher. Dwayne Washington will serve as Ingram's backup.New Orleans could be limited by its options in the backfield due to injury. Along with Kamara, receiver Ty Montgomery is also out with a hand injury and quarterback Taysom Hill is listed as questionable. The Saints will try to end their two-game losing skid against an Eagles defense that is allowing 117 rushing yards per game, ranking 20th in the NFL.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Broncos, Patrick finalizing 3-year, $34.5M extension
The Denver Broncos and wide receiver Tim Patrick are finalizing a three-year contract extension, sources told Mike Klis of 9News.The deal carries a maximum value of $34.5 million and includes $18.5 million guaranteed, reports NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Patrick, who ranks second on the Broncos in receiving with 523 yards, was due to become a free agent at the end of the season. The 27-year-old enjoyed a breakout 2020 campaign, posting 742 yards and six touchdowns.Undrafted out of Utah in 2017, Patrick has developed into one of the most well-rounded receivers in the NFL. He boasts one of the best drop rates in the league, has made his fair share of highlight-reel grabs, and is particularly effective against man coverage. The Broncos now have four of their top targets - Patrick, Jerry Jeudy, K.J. Hamler, and Noah Fant - tied to the team for at least two more seasons. Their leading receiver, Courtland Sutton, is on an expiring contract.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bears' Mack to undergo season-ending foot surgery
Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack will have season-ending foot surgery and be placed on injured reserve, the team confirmed Friday.Mack missed Chicago's previous two games before its Week 10 bye. Head coach Matt Nagy said Monday he was hopeful the pass-rusher could return for Sunday's contest against the Baltimore Ravens. The 30-year-old suffered the foot injury in Week 3 but played through the ailment in four more appearances. He'll finish this season with six sacks and 19 total tackles."With him, it's been the last several weeks just trying to get right," Nagy said Friday. "I think we did everything as far as trying to attack it the right way with him, and I know he's put a lot of time and energy in trying to get back and see where things are at. But this is where we're at."The Bears lost their two games without Mack, dropping their record to 3-6 and likely ending any hopes of making the playoffs. With Mack done for the year, Chicago will continue to rely heavily on Robert Quinn, who leads the team with 6.5 sacks.Cassius Marsh, Trevis Gipson, and Caleb Johnson should see expanded roles in Mack's absence. The NFC North club also signed linebacker Bruce Irvin on Friday to bolster its pass-rushing unit.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Steelers rule out Watt, Haden for SNF vs. Chargers
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without T.J. Watt and Joe Haden for Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, per the team's injury report.Watt won't play due to hip and knee injuries while Haden is dealing with a foot issue. Starting guard Kevin Dotson was also ruled out with an ankle issue.Additionally, Ben Roethlisberger and Minkah Fitzpatrick remain on the COVID-19 list. Roethlisberger - who missed Week 10 - could be cleared if he records two negative tests prior to the prime-time game, but Fitzpatrick isn't expected to play after reportedly testing positive this week.Watt has gotten off to another hot start in 2021, recording 12.5 sacks in eight games. He'll likely be replaced by Taco Charlton on the edge, while Alex Highsmith holds the spot opposite him.The Steelers' defense is allowing 20.8 points per game this season, ranking eighth in the NFL. They've also accumulated 26 sacks, but Watt has been responsible for nearly half of those.Meanwhile, Chase Claypool is set to return after missing Week 10 with a toe injury. The wideout was a full participant in practice Friday and did not receive an injury designation, according to DK Pittsburgh Sports' Christopher Carter.Pittsburgh is second in the AFC North with a 5-3-1 record after tying the Lions last Sunday.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Week 11 best bets: Ravens to bounce back after puzzling loss
We were half a point away from a 2-1 record on our NFL picks against the spread in Week 10. Here are our best bets in Week 11:Washington @ Panthers (-3.5, 43), 1 p.m.The Panthers finally looked like the best version of themselves in last week's 34-10 win over the Cardinals. And while it may be a coincidence that it was Cam Newton's first game back with his old team, it's easy to see how he immediately energized this otherwise lethargic offense in his handful of snaps.Newton will get the reins after a full week of practice with the team, and he's surrounded by the talent to succeed in his first start since 2020. Christian McCaffrey is starting to look like himself again after averaging 7.3 yards per carry last week, and the Panthers' entire receiving corps is healthy for Week 11.The same can't be said for Washington, which will be without star edge rusher Chase Young and likely won't have a fully healthy Terry McLaurin, who is nursing a shoulder injury he suffered last week. Carolina's defense ranks No. 1 in yards allowed per drive (23.31) and No. 2 in points allowed per drive (1.56), so that unit should have no issue halting a wounded Washington attack.Pick: Panthers -3.5Lions @ Browns (-12, 43.5), 1 p.m.One of these teams needs to put up at least 22 points for this game to hit the over, which is much easier said than done. The Browns have been held below that mark in five of their last seven games - including last Sunday's seven-point effort - while the Lions haven't scored 20 points in eight straight.Quarterback injuries further complicate these teams' scoring potential in Week 11. Baker Mayfield left last week's contest with a knee injury - the third time this year he's left a game early - but will start for Cleveland. The same can't be said for Detroit starter Jared Goff, who didn't practice this week and is trending in the wrong direction ahead of Sunday. If he misses this contest, the Lions will turn to journeyman QB Tim Boyle. He's never made an NFL start since going undrafted in 2018 and has missed the entire season thus far after breaking his thumb in the preseason. How are we getting to 44 points in this one?Pick: Under 43.5Ravens (-5, 44.5) @ Bears, 1 p.m.It may seem foolish to back the Ravens as road favorites after they lost in this spot a week ago, but a muggy Thursday game in Miami is hardly a standard by which to judge one of the AFC's most dangerous teams. And there's no better buy-low spot than this one for Baltimore.Don't read too much into a team getting tripped up on a short week. Since 2016, teams that lose as a Thursday favorite are 14-6-1 ATS in their following contest, winning 11 of those games by double digits. The Ravens are also 5-2 ATS following a loss since the start of last season, outscoring their opponents by 5.4 points per game across those seven contests. The matchup here also favors Baltimore as the Bears have struggled to defend the run and are among the league's worst on offense when facing pressure. That's not a strong recipe for success against the Ravens, who are the league's most prolific rushing team and rank in the top three in pressure rate (28.5%) and blitz rate (33.2%).Pick: Ravens -5C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. Hopkins to miss 3rd straight game with hamstring injury
Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins will miss his third straight game Sunday due to a hamstring injury, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday, according to team reporter Darren Urban.Kingsbury added that he expects Hopkins to return following the team's Week 12 bye.Meanwhile, Kyler Murray will be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury. Kingsbury stressed that Murray must be able to protect himself from re-injuring his ankle in order to play, per Urban.Murray and Hopkins have both missed the team's last two games. The Cardinals split the two-game stretch without their stars, beating the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9 before falling to the Carolina Panthers last Sunday.Hopkins had been a model of durability prior to the 2021 season. The 29-year-old only missed two games from 2013-20.Arizona is leading the NFC West with an 8-2 record.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Panthers officially name Newton starting QB vs. Washington
Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule announced Friday that Cam Newton will start at quarterback versus the Washington Football Team in Week 11."Cam will take the first play," Rhule told reporters, via Joe Person of The Athletic. The Panthers were expected to roll with Newton after sprinkling him into the game plan in a Week 10 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Carolina signed Newton after Sam Darnold went down with a shoulder injury, reuniting the Panthers with the charismatic signal-caller they drafted first overall in 2011.Rhule noted that P.J. Walker, who started against the Cardinals, will "probably" see the field against Washington as well. The Panthers haven't won at home since Week 2 when they defeated the New Orleans Saints. Newton has called on Panthers fans to provide an electric atmosphere for his first game at Bank of America Stadium since Sept. 12, 2019.Newton spent his first nine seasons in Carolina, winning one MVP and taking the Panthers to Super Bowl 50.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Eagles, Goedert strike 4-year extension worth reported $57M
The Philadelphia Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert agreed to a four-year extension that runs through the 2025 campaign, the team announced Friday. The deal is worth $57 million and contains $35 million guaranteed, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.Goedert appeared to be Philadelphia's tight end of the future for some time, and the midseason Zach Ertz trade seemingly solidified that likelihood. The 2018 second-round pick ranks eighth in receiving among tight ends this season with 429 yards and is on track for a top-10 finish in that category for the second time in four years. He's also one of the better blockers at his position in the NFL."There are not a lot of guys like that, that are really exceptional at being able to create mismatches in the pass game and also get their job done in the run game," head coach Nick Sirianni said.Goedert is in concussion protocol after taking a hit in Week 10, but he's expected to be cleared for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.Goedert marks the third notable extension the Eagles have finalized since September following deals with offensive tackle Jordan Mailata and defensive end Josh Sweat.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Browns activate Chubb off COVID-19 list ahead of bout vs. Lions
The Cleveland Browns activated running backs Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton off the COVID-19 list ahead of their Week 11 meeting with the Detroit Lions, the club announced.Head coach Kevin Stefanski said after Friday's practice that Chubb is good to go for Sunday's game, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic.Chubb missed the Browns' 45-7 defeat to the New England Patriots last week due to a positive COVID-19 test. D'Ernest Johnson received the start, rushing for 99 yards on 19 carries.Chubb currently ranks third in the league in rushing with 721 yards. His 6.0 yards per attempt is also tied for the best mark in the NFL (min. 100 carries). The 25-year-old has been part of a Browns rushing attack that is averaging 154.1 yards per game this season.Cleveland enters Week 11 with a 5-5 record and will look to get back on track against the Lions after losing two of its last three.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc.
