Jaguars fire Urban Meyer amid mounting controversy, 2-11 record
The Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Urban Meyer with four games remaining in his first season on the job, owner Shad Khan announced Wednesday night. The move comes just days after a report detailed major tension under the watch of the college football legend, and hours after former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo said Meyer kicked him during a practice in August."After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban's tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone," Khan said in a statement. "I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen."In the NFL Network report on Meyer, sources recounted a heated argument between the head coach and veteran wide receiver Marvin Jones, said Meyer suggested to his assistants during a staff meeting that they're losers while he's a winner, and asserted that he'd ordered the unusual benching of standout running back James Robinson.Lambo's revelation brought further controversy to Meyer's already rocky tenure, with the veteran detailing the alleged kicking incident and Meyer's behavior thereafter in an interview with Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times."(The kick) certainly wasn't as hard as he could've done it, but it certainly wasn't a love tap," Lambo said. "Truthfully, I'd register it as a five (out of 10). Which in the workplace, I don't care if it’s football or not, the boss can't strike an employee. And for a second, I couldn't believe it actually happened."Pardon my vulgarity, I said, 'Don't you ever f------ kick me again!' And his response was, 'I'm the head ball coach, I'll kick you whenever the f--- I want.'"The 57-year-old Meyer also apologized to the Jaguars in October after he didn't fly back home with the team following a loss to the Bengals in Cincinnati and then a viral video showed him sitting at an Ohio bar/restaurant while a woman who is not his wife danced in his lap."I apologized again for being a distraction," Meyer said of his talk with the team's leaders. "The coach should not be a distraction."Meyer, who signed a five-year deal with Jacksonville last offseason, makes a quick NFL exit after posting a 2-11 record. The Jaguars are tied for last in the AFC South with a month left in the 2021 campaign, fielding an offense that ranks 30th in total yards and 31st in points scored. One of the most decorated coaches in college football history, Meyer first made a name for himself at Bowling Green and Utah before going on to win two national championships at Florida and one at Ohio State. Extended runs of dominance at the latter two schools in particular helped him post a 187-32 record across 17 seasons as a head coach at the NCAA level. The Jaguars' lead job marked his first NFL experience in any capacity.Khan revealed in his announcement that offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will take over as the interim head coach for the remainder of the year."Trent Baalke continues as our general manager and will work with Darrell to ensure that our team will be inspired and competitive while representing Jacksonville proudly over our final four games of the season," Khan said. "In the spirit of closure and recharging our players, staff, and fan base, I will not comment further until some point following the conclusion of the NFL season."Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Former Jaguars K Lambo said coach Meyer kicked him at practice
Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo says head coach Urban Meyer kicked him during training camp in August."I'm in a lunge position. Left leg forward, right leg back," Lambo said, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud. "Urban Meyer, while I'm in that stretch position, comes up to me and says, 'Hey, dipshit, make your f------ kicks!' And kicks me in the leg."Lambo added, "(The kick) certainly wasn't as hard as he could've done it, but it certainly wasn't a love tap. ... Truthfully, I'd register it as a five (out of 10). Which, in the workplace, I don't care if it's football or not, the boss can't strike an employee. And for a second, I couldn't believe it actually happened. Pardon my vulgarity, I said, 'Don't you ever f------ kick me again!' And his response was, 'I'm the head ball coach, I'll kick you whenever the f--- I want.'"The Jaguars fired Meyer several hours after the Lambo interview was published Wednesday night, ending the coach's tenure after just 13 games. Jacksonville went 2-11 over that stretch, and the interview was the latest in a long line of controversies. The free-agent kicker said Meyer didn't call special teams players by name."It was 'kicker, punter, long snapper.' Or shitbag, dipshit, or whatever the hell it was," said Lambo, who added other players witnessed the kicking incident.Lambo also said Meyer approached him the following day."He sees me, and I'm by myself, and he kind of cornered me and comes up to me and says, 'Are you going to put a smile on that face?'" Lambo said. "I said, 'I'll smile if you'll stop kicking me.'"(Meyer's) response was, 'OK, you don't like me doing this, OK. If you don't like me doing that, fine. But if you ever speak to me like that again, you'll be out of here. You're the first player I've ever let speak to me that way in my career, and if you do it again, you're gone.'"Meyer said Lambo's recollection isn't accurate."Josh's characterization of me and this incident is completely inaccurate, and there are eyewitnesses to refute his account," Meyer said. "(General manager) Trent (Baalke) and I met with him on multiple occasions to encourage his performance, and this was never brought up."Lambo began the regular season with Jacksonville, but the team released him in October after he went 5-for-7 on extra-point attempts and 0-for-3 in field-goal tries. The 31-year-old then spent a week on the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad in November but didn't make the active roster.A recent report indicated tensions had grown within the Jaguars organization following multiple run-ins between Meyer and players and other coaches throughout the 2021 campaign.Jacksonville currently sits last in the AFC South with a 2-11 record. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is taking over as the team's interim head coach following Meyer's departure.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Chiefs-Chargers best bets: Kansas City out for revenge on TNF
Week 15 begins with a game worthy of the primetime spotlight, as the Los Angeles Chargers look to sweep the Kansas City Chiefs in a blockbuster clash, with the winner taking a big step towards winning the AFC West. Here's how we're betting Chiefs-Chargers:C Jackson Cowart: Chiefs -3I've been reticent to buy into the Chiefs, who looked like a mediocre football team for half the season despite oddsmakers still pricing them as an elite one. Well, now they look like what everyone thought they'd be, and it's hard to imagine betting against them at a short number.Kansas City has won six straight games and four straight ATS behind its electric defense, which has allowed a mere 10.8 points per game since the start of November - second-best in the NFL. This unit has turned it around thanks to a surging pass rush that has generated 16 sacks in those six contests, including four in Sunday's 48-9 beatdown of the Raiders. The Chargers will likely be without rookie tackle Rashawn Slater, who has been the club's best lineman outside of All-Pro center Corey Linsley for an otherwise mediocre offensive line. That's a problem for a side that has already lost three of its last four games against teams with a winning record.Alex Moretto: Edwards-Helaire anytime TD (+100)With COVID-19 absences clouding many aspects of this game, one thing we know for certain is Los Angeles can't stop the run. The Chargers are allowing the second-most yards per carry (4.7) and have allowed the third-most rushing touchdowns. Edwards-Helaire managed 100 on the ground in the first meeting, and while he didn't rush for a touchdown, he did catch one.CEH has been the clear lead back since returning from injury and has received 100% of the running back carries inside the 10-yard line over that span. The Chiefs have adopted a more run-heavy approach of late and will continue to do so here since that's the best way to attack this L.A. defense. In a game with a high total, K.C.'s offense will give CEH plenty of opportunities to find paydirt given his usage - outside of garbage time - since returning. He's the clear lead-back in a mouth-watering matchup, but the market isn't pricing him as such.Matt Russell: Chargers +3COVID-19 giveth and taketh on Thursday Night Football. First, the Chargers ruled out offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, pushing the Chiefs to -4. Mere hours later, Kansas City sidelined star defensive lineman Chris Jones for the same reason. How that shakes out on the field might be the difference-maker in the game, but there's no way to know who's getting the best of the trade-off beforehand.I'll revert to my original lean on this contest, which was being happy to get three points with Los Angeles here. We know what the Chargers will do on defense, as they originated the now popular idea of keeping everything in front of them against the Chiefs and forcing Patrick Mahomes to be patient.Blowing out the Raiders twice - when Las Vegas was doing the exact opposite as L.A. defensively - doesn't quite make me believe Kansas City is back. Meanwhile, it's not a coincidence the Chiefs' defense became adequate when Jones came back from injury and moved inside. I'll take the Chargers in a matchup that might be more of a chess match than a shootout, as I think they can win outright at least half the time.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Mayfield, Stefanski among Browns in COVID-19 protocol as outbreak worsens
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was among six players added to the team's COVID-19 list Wednesday, the club announced.Mayfield tested positive and will miss Saturday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders unless he produces two negative tests by then, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The other players added to the COVID-19 reserve Wednesday are Troy Hill, John Johnson III, Malik McDowell, Ifeadi Odenigbo, and practice squad member Nate Meadors. The team also announced earlier Wednesday that head coach Kevin Stefanski tested positive.Stefanski has received his booster shot, and there is still a chance he returns for Saturday's game against the Raiders if he can register two negative tests before then.If Stefanski isn't back by Saturday, special teams coordinator Mike Priefer will serve as head coach while offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt will call plays. Case Keenum is set to start at quarterback for the Week 15 contest unless Mayfield returns. The 39-year-old Stefanski has already contracted COVID-19 once before, missing last season's playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers as a result.Cleveland has added 14 players to the COVID-19 list over the last two days. The NFL placed the Browns in enhanced protocols this week after the team designated eight players, including receiver Jarvis Landry, for the reserve list Tuesday. The Browns will wear masks around the team facility while also conducting meetings virtually.
NFL MVP odds: Brady the prohibitive favorite ahead of final 4 weeks
Tom Brady opened this season as a 16-1 shot to win the fourth MVP award of his storied career. With four weeks left, he's the odds-on favorite. That's how impressive of a season it's been for the 44-year-old passer, who enters Week 15 as a -175 favorite to add another trophy to his 22-year collection. The Buccaneers quarterback separated himself from a crowded field with another masterful performance Sunday, and oddsmakers think he's more likely than not to finish the job down the stretch.PLAYERODDSTom Brady-175Aaron Rodgers+500Kyler Murray+1200Matthew Stafford+1400Dak Prescott+1400Patrick Mahomes+1400Justin Herbert+1600Josh Allen+2000Jonathan Taylor+2000Cooper Kupp+5000Lamar Jackson+6500Derek Carr+10000Mac Jones+10000Kirk Cousins+10000Jalen Hurts+10000Joe Burrow+10000Ryan Tannehill+10000Carson Wentz+20000James Conner+20000Teddy Bridgewater+20000Austin Ekeler+25000Justin Jefferson+25000Davante Adams+50000Brady outdueled former MVP favorite Josh Allen in last week's 33-27 overtime win over the Bills. He threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns to help Tampa Bay maintain its 10-3 record, which is tied for the best mark in the NFL. Brady also built upon his league leads in passing yards (4,134), passing touchdowns (36), first downs (208), and QBR (67.7), further cementing his case as the NFL's top passer this season. It's an exhaustive list of accolades for Brady, who additionally set the NFL record for career completions (7,156) on Sunday and notched his 700th career touchdown pass on a 58-yard strike to Breshad Perriman for the walk-off winner. That clinched Brady's fourth game-winning drive this season - tied for third most in the league - which is already more than he's had in any season since 2013 when he finished second in MVP voting behind Peyton Manning. If Brady holds on for his fourth MVP award, he'll move into second all time behind Manning (5) and break a tie with four other players, including reigning MVP winner Aaron Rodgers (3). The Packers quarterback is Brady's biggest threat this year, as he leads the NFL in passer rating (108.8) and quarterback record (10-2) while boasting a stellar 27-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio.Rodgers has especially come on late, averaging 344.3 yards with 10 combined touchdowns and zero interceptions in his last three games to carry Green Bay into a share for the NFL's best record with Tampa Bay. That pace could put him in contention for back-to-back MVP awards, but a nagging toe injury that he aggravated in last week's win could hinder his production down the stretch. If it isn't Rodgers, the rest of the field looks hard-pressed to close the gap on Brady over the final four weeks. Kyler Murray looked like an MVP front-runner early in the year and has the talent to go on a scintillating late-season run, but injuries and the Cardinals' stellar play without him have hindered his case. Matthew Stafford has the statistical profile of a winner - ranking in the top three in nearly every relevant category - but his Rams have fallen short of expectations in too many key spots to feel comfortable backing him at this price.Indeed, if Brady is going to lose the award at this point, he'd have to beat himself. And we've learned time and time again over the last two decades - and especially in the last two seasons - not to bet against the GOAT.C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. TNF player props: Who finds paydirt in this AFC West clash?
It's the penultimate Thursday Night Football game of the season, and we've been rockin' and rollin' with the player props to begin each week. With two games to go, we're sitting at 6-3 (+2.55 units) on yardage props, 4-5 (+3 units) on touchdowns that will definitely happen, and 2-7 (+7.5 units) on long-shot touchdowns.Maybe we're not ready to purchase land on the sun-splashed shores of Los Angeles with our 13 units, but the Chiefs are making the trip inland to Super Bowl LVI's "Stadium Arcadium." With both teams dreaming of February "Californication," we'll get the vibes right with L.A.'s unofficial king of rock, Anthony Kiedis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers."Higher Ground" gameIf oddsmakers "Can't Stop" setting Patrick Mahomes' passing yards totals close to 300 against the Chargers, then we'll keep taking the "Otherside." We continually see L.A. use a two-high safety zone defense against K.C., making Mahomes turn to the run game."By The Way," with Chris Jones out for the Chiefs, the Chargers should be able to run the ball themselves and keep Mahomes on the sidelines. Add in K.C.'s renewed patience on offense, its capable crew of ball carriers, and a banged-up Austin Ekeler, and there's no one to pinpoint here for an over. Instead, we'll fade Mahomes in the passing game.Pick: Mahomes under 289.5 passing yardsA TD that's definitely going to happenAs usual, the tongue-in-cheek definite touchdown bet comes at a price where sportsbooks won't "Give It Away." However, there's a good chance Mahomes tells Clyde Edwards-Helaire to "take me all the way" down the field against L.A.'s soft run defense. As we know, the Chargers are fine with opponents turning to the run game, as Edwards-Helaire had his most productive game of the campaign in their first matchup. The Chiefs' running back scored twice from in close last week, so the goal-line carries are there - and of course, he can also turn a screen pass into six points.Pick: Edwards-Helaire anytime TD (+100)A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it doesIf you're thinking Justin Herbert scoring a touchdown doesn't come with the juicy payout we often see here, "I'm With You." However, with so many scoring options for both sides, everyone occasionally near a football is priced more tightly. There isn't one player taking all the win probability, providing value on a long shot to have "One Hot Minute."We've had some "Scar Tissue" built up due to some failed backings for a quarterback rushing touchdown. But Herbert is certainly capable of using his legs to score from distance, so we'll consider losses on Aaron Rodgers, Taysom Hill, and Derek Carr water "Under The Bridge." Also, with L.A.'s pass-catchers posing a size mismatch for K.C.'s secondary, we could see a pass interference call in the end zone resulting in a sneak opportunity from the 1-yard line.Pick: Justin Herbert anytime TD (+400)Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Chargers' Slater won't play TNF vs. Chiefs
The Los Angeles Chargers won't have their starting left tackle on Thursday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.Rashawn Slater won't be activated from the COVID-19 list in time for Week 15, Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Wednesday, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.Slater landed on the COVID-19 reserve Monday. Trey Pipkins will replace him as Justin Herbert's blind-side protector.Drafted 13th overall this year, Slater has been one of football's most reliable left tackles in 2021. He's the 10th-ranked offensive tackle in the league (minimum 10 appearances), according to PFF.Pipkins hasn't started a game this year and has logged only eight brief appearances. The Chargers enter Week 15 ranked sixth and 15th in pass- and run-blocking, respectively, according to PFF.The team also announced Wednesday that running back Austin Ekeler, safety Derwin James, and cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. are questionable against the Chiefs due to injuries. The 8-5 Chargers sit second in the AFC West, two games behind the Chiefs. NFL upset of the week: Trust Russ vs. Rams
Week 14 will live in infamy for producing a rare Sunday where just one underdog (Falcons +2.5) won, showing that sometimes there just isn't a viable decent-sized upset.Lines get sharper as the NFL season wears on, and teams that were frisky at the start have lost much of their fight. That's why the first three months are when we can profit on underdog plays. But we understand the assignment, as the kids say, so we'll look for a team with late-season momentum to steal an underdog win of better than +150 on the moneyline. The spotWith four games left, don't tell Russell Wilson that the Seattle Seahawks are out of it. Washington Football Team's possession of the final playoff spot is anything but absolute. Whether the Seahawks actually make the playoffs (at +1000) is irrelevant - consecutive wins over the 49ers and Texans means they'll play with belief. The Rams' positive COVID-19 tests early in the week and uncertainty over the remainder of the squad means this game could draw down closer to PK. L.A. is also on a short week coming off an emotional revenge win over the Cardinals.Seahawks' offense vs. Rams' defenseIn their first matchup this season, Wilson broke his hand. While Geno Smith came in and threw a touchdown pass to keep the Seahawks alive, who knows what would have happened if Wilson had gone to work in the fourth quarter? He let everyone know then - and throughout the next month - that he was going to come back early. He did. It went badly. Now, more than eight weeks later, he looks like he's back to his former self. The Rams' strength on defense has been stopping the run, but the Seahawks' irritating desire to run the ball when Wilson is clearly their best scoring option makes it difficult to predict a game plan.Even though it was against a checked-out Texans team, Rashaad Penny blew up for 137 yards last week, so things may be starting to click for him. If Wilson and Tyler Lockett seem to continue to share a brain and DK Metcalf draws attention, I give the Seahawks a chance to beat anyone in the division.Rams' offense vs. Seahawks' defenseJamal Adams' season-ending injury might actually help the Seahawks. While widely regarded as the league's best box safety, Seattle used him more in coverage this season, which is not his strength. The Seahawks' run defense may suffer without him, but does that matter against their final four opponents - the Rams, Bears, Lions, and Cardinals? It probably won't against a pass-first team like the Rams, especially if they're missing Odell Beckham Jr.One reason Adams played outside the box more this season is likely because the Seahawks don't need help in stopping the run. At 3.8 opponent yards per rush, their run defense is second in the league. It's entirely possible that Cooper Kupp runs amok in Seattle's secondary, but there's only so much damage he can do, especially if Jalen Ramsey isn't available and the Seahawks' outside weapons can match that production. With the Rams feeling good after a big win and the Seahawks still hungry, I'll put a little faith in Wilson. He's found form late in the season and can keep the 12s' hopes alive for another week at a decent price (one that could drop with more bad news).Pick: Seahawks moneyline (+180)Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Report: Hopkins set to miss remainder of regular season with knee sprain
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season due to a sprained knee, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. However, the Cardinals are hopeful the star wideout will return at some point in the postseason, Schefter adds. It's uncertain if the 29-year-old wideout requires surgery, Schefter adds.Hopkins was absent for the final plays of Arizona's loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that Hopkins would get a second opinion on his injury following an earlier MRI, according to Cardinals staff writer Kevin Parrish Jr.After missing just two games through the first eight seasons of his career, Hopkins has struggled to stay on the field in 2021. He missed three contests earlier this campaign due to a hamstring injury. If he fails to return prior to the postseason, Hopkins' season will end with 42 receptions, 572 yards, and eight touchdowns across 10 games.Meanwhile, running back James Conner is day-to-day with an ankle injury, Kingsbury added. The Cardinals dropped from the No. 1 seed in the conference to No. 3 following Monday's loss.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Roethlisberger focused on making playoffs, not end of Steelers' career
Ben Roethlisberger isn't worried about the end of his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers amid reports that he's playing in his final season with the team.Instead, he's focusing on guiding the Steelers to another playoff run."I'm living right here, right now," Roethlisberger said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "We've got to make a run. We've got to play good football. We've got to play great football. That starts right here with me. I can't get caught looking at the end because I need to focus on right here, this week."Roethlisberger reportedly has told former teammates and some within the organization that he expects 2021 to be his final year with the club. It was also reported that it's unlikely he would continue with a different team. The Steelers have won just one of their last five games. At 6-6-1, Pittsburgh is on the outside of the AFC's playoff picture, but Roethlisberger isn't giving up hope."Sometimes the other team is better, or they make a play and you don't," Roethlisberger said. "Just because you're losing a football game or the season isn't going the way you want it to doesn't mean these guys don't have heart and don't love it and aren't passionate for it. It doesn't mean that."He added: "I just want to see that guys are never going to quit."The Steelers will have their work cut out for them if they want to make the playoffs for a second consecutive season. They finish their campaign with matchups against the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens - opponents with a combined record of 33-19.Roethlisberger has thrown 11 touchdowns to three interceptions over his last five games. He owns a 92.1 passer rating for the year with five game-winning drives.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Giants' Glennon set to make 3rd straight start, Jones still not cleared
The New York Giants are planning for quarterback Mike Glennon to make his third straight start on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Joe Judge announced Wednesday, according to team reporter Dan Salomone.Judge added that regular starter Daniel Jones' status has not changed as he hasn't been cleared for contact. Jones has missed the last two games due to a neck injury. The Giants have lost each of the two games that Glennon started. He's thrown two touchdowns and two interceptions, but he failed to crack 200 passing yards in either contest.Jake Fromm sits behind Glennon on the depth chart. New York is considering giving Fromm some playing time even with Glennon likely to start, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Giants reside in the basement of the NFC East at 4-9, while the Cowboys are in first at 9-4.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Power Rankings - Week 15: One bold prediction for every team
The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. This week, we pick one bold prediction for every team over the final month of the season.1. Green Bay Packers (10-3) Stacy Revere / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 2Back-to-back MVPs for Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers has tossed 17 touchdowns against one interception over his last seven games, and he has Green Bay sitting first in the NFC. Brady might be leading the MVP race, but Rodgers will arguably have a stronger case if he keeps playing flawless football and the Packers finish ahead of the Bucs as the conference's No. 1 seed.2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-3)Previous Rank: 3Gronk leads all tight ends in TDs again: Rob Gronkowski is currently tied at fourth for touchdown receptions among tight ends with six, but the leader - the Buffalo Bills' Dawson Knox - is only two scores ahead. Tampa Bay's easy remaining schedule puts Gronk in a good position to top all tight ends in touchdowns for the fifth time in his career despite missing five games.3. Arizona Cardinals (10-3)Previous Rank: 1James Conner leads NFL in TDs: We all thought the Cardinals were mainly looking for depth when they signed Conner to a one-year deal. It turns out Arizona found a scoring machine. Conner has a realistic shot at finishing the year with the most scrimmage touchdowns in the league, as his 16 scores are only two behind the Indianapolis Colts' Jonathan Taylor.4. New England Patriots (9-4)Previous Rank: 4J.C. Jackson finishes with most INTs: Jackson has been a ball magnet since entering the league. He's added another seven interceptions this year, only trailing Trevon Diggs, who has nine. While Diggs is having a magnificent season, Jackson can pass him. The Patriots cornerback has grabbed four interceptions over the last five games, and if quarterbacks keep throwing his way, he could easily overtake Diggs by the season's end.5. Kansas City Chiefs (9-4) Sean M. Haffey / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 5Secure home-field advantage: Remember when the Chiefs' position as the AFC's top dog appeared to be in jeopardy? That's a distant memory now as Patrick Mahomes has KC tied for the top spot in the conference. With a light closing schedule, the Chiefs will run the table and secure home-field advantage as the No. 1 seed when all the dust settles.6. Los Angeles Rams (9-4)Previous Rank: 6Cooper Kupp breaks the receiving record: Kupp leads the NFL in every major statistical receiving category and might soon join the record books. He's 475 receiving yards shy of Calvin Johnson's single-season record, meaning he needs to average 118.7 yards per game to break the mark. Granted, the extra regular-season game this year makes Kupp's life a bit easier, but it doesn't take anything away from his absurd campaign.7. Dallas Cowboys (9-4)Previous Rank: 7Micah Parsons wins DPOY: It seems like the sky is the limit for Parsons, who's racked up 75 tackles, three forced fumbles, and 12 sacks, including one in six straight games. Don't be surprised if he joins Lawrence Taylor as the only rookie ever to take home the Defensive Player of Year award.8. Los Angeles Chargers (8-5)Previous Rank: 10Justin Herbert ends the season with most yards, TDs: Herbert trails Tom Brady by 312 yards and six touchdowns for the most passing yards and scores in the league. It'll be a steep challenge to pass the iconic quarterback, but the Chargers passer has been electric recently, tossing 1,277 yards and 11 touchdowns over his last four games. Bet on Los Angeles maximizing Herbert's arm in the final stretch to give him the ammunition to unseat Brady.9. Tennessee Titans (9-4)Previous Rank: 11Julio returns to Pro Bowl form: It hasn't been a season to remember for Julio Jones, who has just one 100-yard game and zero touchdowns. One week removed from his activation off injured reserve, Jones is due to become a key player for the Titans in December. Multiple 100-yard games and a few touchdowns are surely on the horizon.10. Indianapolis Colts (7-6) Carmen Mandato / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 12Jonathan Taylor receives MVP votes: Taylor could very well be the most valuable player this season. It's hard to imagine the Colts where they are now without the back's incredible production. Still, he's likely a long shot for the MVP award, which is frequently a quarterback-centered accolade. However, it's not hard to imagine he'll receive multiple votes after running laps around the league's other top backs in 2021.11. Buffalo Bills (7-6)Previous Rank: 8Win four straight to take division: Clinging to a wild-card spot at the moment, the Bills desperately need to regroup if they want to reach the postseason. Assuming Josh Allen doesn't miss time, they should be able win four straight games to end the campaign. Buffalo has a favorable schedule with matchups against the Panthers, Falcons, and Jets. A crucial rematch against the Patriots also looms in Week 16, but expect the Bills to be hungry to avenge an earlier loss to the current division leaders.12. San Francisco 49ers (7-6)Previous Rank: 14George Kittle tops 1,000 receiving yards: Kittle has been a monster over the last two weeks, racking up 332 yards and three touchdowns on 22 receptions. San Francisco will need to keep him heavily involved in the game plan to have a real chance of making the postseason, and that will help the star tight end, who currently has 757 yards, top the 1,000-yard mark despite him missing three games.13. Baltimore Ravens (8-5)Previous Rank: 9Miss the postseason: The Ravens have put on a tremendous effort in spite of all their injuries. Unfortunately, they look to be losing steam down the stretch. With Lamar Jackson dealing with an ankle sprain and a tough four-game stretch that includes contests against the Packers, Rams, Bengals, and Steelers, the Ravens might not have enough gas in the tank to drag themselves to the playoffs.14. Cincinnati Bengals (7-6)Previous Rank: 13First postseason appearance since 2015: Cincinnati hasn't earned a playoff invite in any of its last five seasons. That streak ends in 2021, as the offensive trio of Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Joe Mixon make a final charge in the coming weeks. Although they've lost two in a row, the Bengals arguably appear to be the most stable team out of their AFC North rivals.15. Cleveland Browns (7-6) John McCoy / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 16Baker pulled due to poor play, nagging injuries: The Browns' offense has struggled mightily in 2021. They rank 19th in scoring while Baker Mayfield's development has stagnated due to poor play and countless injuries. Both the offense and Mayfield need a strong push to make the playoffs. But at some point, Cleveland will make the call to replace a struggling and less than 100% Mayfield with Case Keenum.16. Minnesota Vikings (6-7)Previous Rank: 22Set record for one-possession games: Vikings games have been must-watch TV this season, with 12 of their 13 contests being decided by eight or fewer points. The all-time single-season record for one-possession games by a team is 14, which means Minnesota needs two more against its remaining opponents - the Bears, Rams, and Packers - to at least tie that mark.17. Miami Dolphins (6-7)Previous Rank: 17Tua goes 3-1 down the stretch: Tagovailoa has looked exceptional over his last three starts, completing 80% of his passes for five touchdowns and one interception. Expect him to carry that momentum, win three of his final four games, and make it difficult for the Dolphins to think about moving him in the offseason.18. Philadelphia Eagles (6-7)Previous Rank: 21Gardner Minshew gets another shot: Minshew turned heads while replacing the injured Jalen Hurts two weeks ago. While that probably wasn't enough to create a quarterback controversy, Hurts' recent struggles have left many wondering whether he's the right guy in Philly. Don't be surprised if Minshew gets another shot under center this year.19. Denver Broncos (7-6)Previous Rank: 19Javonte Williams leads all rookies in rushing: At the moment, only Elijah Mitchell and Najee Harris are ahead of Williams in rookie rushing yards. There are just 130 yards separating Williams and Harris, who leads all rookies, though that gap will shrink over the next four games. While Harris has relied on volume, Williams has been incredibly efficient.20. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6-1) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 15T.J. Watt breaks single-season sack record: Watt leads the league with 16 sacks yet he's only appeared in 11 games this season. There's still a shot - albeit a long one - Watt can snap Michael Strahan's single-season record of 22.5 sacks. He'll need 6.5 over the next four games, which seems doable. The Steelers pass-rusher has already notched two or more sacks five times this season. It'll likely come down to the wire, but Watt will edge Strahan.21. New Orleans Saints (6-7)Previous Rank: 24Alvin Kamara tops 1,000 rushing yards: Kamara racked up 120 rushing yards Sunday, leaving him only 350 shy of the 1,000-yard mark despite him missing four games this year. The Saints will need to keep him heavily involved in the running game as they fight for a playoff spot, which will help the four-time Pro Bowler finally eclipse 1,000 yards on the ground in a season for the first time.22. Washington Football Team (6-7)Previous Rank: 18Antonio Gibson eclipses 1,500 scrimmage yards: The last Washington player to record at least 1,500 total yards in a season was Alfred Morris in 2012. This year, Gibson has amassed 1,057 yards, meaning he'll enter Week 15 needing to average 110.8 per game in the final four weeks to reach that mark. While that's not a given by any means, Gibson won't face any of the NFL's top defenses in the final contests of the year.23. Seattle Seahawks (5-8)Previous Rank: 23Run the table, make the playoffs: It's possible that a 9-8 team will occupy the No. 7 seed in the NFC, which means Seattle has to win its remaining four games to have a chance. Say Russell Wilson catches fire next week and the Seahawks beat the Rams. That'd leave the Bears, Lions, and Cardinals, who could be resting their starters, as Seattle's remaining opponents. Don't rule the Seahawks out yet.24. Las Vegas Raiders (6-7)Previous Rank: 20Finish with a top-10 pick: The Raiders have two paths ahead of them - one takes them to the postseason, the other ends with a top-10 selection. It looks like the latter is more likely. Las Vegas currently holds the 14th pick, though clubs with a 6-7 record like the Raiders range from 9-14 in the draft order at the moment. With credible opponents on the horizon, a poor end to the 2021 campaign may hurt at the moment, but it could pay dividends later for the Raiders.25. Atlanta Falcons (6-7) Don Juan Moore / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 26Find a way to make the playoffs: Atlanta is one of five 6-7 teams in the NFC postseason hunt. Granted, the Falcons haven't played like a playoff team. But their final four opponents - 49ers, Bills, Lions, and Saints - have also had ups and downs in 2021. We're counting on Matt Ryan's experience and Cordarrelle Patterson's resurgence to make a difference for Atlanta.26. Carolina Panthers (5-8)Previous Rank: 27P.J. Walker becomes the permanent starter: Cam Newton's return to Carolina provided a spark, but it hasn't solved the team's issues - it's been quite the opposite, actually. Walker's been far from great this year, but the fact coach Matt Rhule has put him under center over Newton for specific in-game situations suggests a permanent move might happen anytime.27. Chicago Bears (4-9)Previous Rank: 28Robert Quinn leads NFC in sacks: Bears fans are finally seeing something from Quinn, who had just two sacks last year but is currently tied with Nick Bosa for the most in the NFC (14) despite missing one game. Count on Quinn to win this race, as Chicago faces three of the league's worst pass-blocking lines over the final games of the season, according to PFF.28. New York Giants (4-9)Previous Rank: 25Finish with two top-10 picks: The Giants are on track to own a top-10 draft pick in 2022 for the fourth time in five years. But they're also in a great position to have an extra selection in the top 10, as New York owns the Bears' first-round pick next year (currently No. 5 overall).29. New York Jets (3-10)Previous Rank: 29Zach Wilson leads the league in INTs: Wilson has made a frequent habit of throwing to the opposing team in his rookie year. The No. 2 overall pick has recorded 11 interceptions this season, just three short of the league lead. However, his 3.9% interception rate is the NFL's second highest. At this pace, Wilson will take home the unwanted prize of ending the year as the league’s leader in interceptions.30. Detroit Lions (1-11-1) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 30The first overall pick goes elsewhere: With a tough remaining schedule ahead, the Lions have a league-high 57.4% chance of getting the first overall pick in 2022. However, those numbers don't take into account that the Packers might rest their main players in Detroit's regular-season finale, and that's exactly the game that will send next year's top selection away from Ford Field.31. Houston Texans (2-11)Previous Rank: 32Nico Collins breaks out: The Texans haven't provided much reason for excitement in 2021, but there are ample opportunities for young contributors to build momentum heading into next season. Collins is a great example. After recording a season-high 69 receiving yards Sunday, the rookie wideout signaled the start of his breakout moment. Look for him to become the Texans' top target in the final portion of the campaign.32. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11)Previous Rank: 31Urban Meyer resigns: Owner Shad Khan recently said he won't make an "impulsive" decision on Meyer's future. Instead, Meyer will resign before the end of the season. It's been a campaign filled with controversy for the first-time NFL head coach, and it's probably best for both him and the team to go their separate ways sooner rather than later.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Week 15 O/U best bets: Bengals, Broncos due for offensive explosion

Beckham positive for COVID, Rams reportedly close training facility
A day after beating the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams' Odell Beckham Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced Tuesday. The Rams have closed their training facility and entered the NFL's intensive protocols, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.Los Angeles defeated its NFC West rival Arizona 30-23 in Monday Night Football action.Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Tyler Higbee were added to the COVID-19 list ahead of the matchup. However, Los Angeles later activated Higbee due to a false positive, head coach Sean McVay said, according to the Los Angeles Times' Gary Klein.Defensive backs Jordan Fuller, Tyler Hall, Terrell Burgess, and Juju Hughes, as well as tight end Brycen Hopkins, tackle Alaric Jackson, nose tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day, and defensive end Jonah Williams, were all also added to the Rams' COVID-19 list."The scary thing about all this to me is every single person is vaccinated that we're talking about," McVay told reporters, including ESPN's Lindsey Thiry. "That's the thing that's the most concerning about all of this, is that everybody has done exactly what they could."Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. NFL Week 15 teasers: Backing playoff contenders to keep things close
Week 14 was a clean sweep. We've shown that teasers can be profitable when done correctly, whether it's through our six teaser legs or having the Bengals join the fray midweek - when they moved to +1.5/+2 and could be teased through the key +7 number. While less flashy than moneyline underdogs or a gaudy ATS record, we can still find success with teasers in the season's final quarter because we want the base point spread to be as accurate as possible. The more accurate a game line, the closer the score is to its spread, making a teaser leg more likely to cash. As always, we'll try to focus on matchups with a tighter range of outcomes for the most profit. Not all teaser legs are created equal. The biggest mistake novice bettors make is teasing through zero because they're wasting valuable price points on a number the game probably won't land on: A tie. So how can we maximize the six-point move? How can we get what we're paying for at -270 per leg?Let's use the Seahawks' visit to the Rams on Sunday as an example:SPREADODDSRams -7-110Rams -6.5-138Rams -6-145Rams -5.5-157Rams -5-163Rams -4.5-167Rams -4-180Rams -3.5-190Rams -3-240Rams -2.5-270Rams -2-280Rams -1.5-285Rams -1-300The alternative spread gives you the Rams -2.5 at -270. Would you rather have that or the -1 that a teaser leg provides at the same price? What about Rams -1 at -270 versus the moneyline of -320?The answers are obvious, but if you like Los Angeles to win outright, you need some options to pair with Rams -1. We can turn to the teaser basket for the best options to capture as many key numbers as possible.Teaser basketLet's look at the mathematically optimal plays available for Week 15:TEAMSPREADTEASER LEGChargers+4+10Browns-6PKPatriots+2+8Dolphins-8.5-2.5Steelers+2+8Washington+5+1149ers-8.5-2.5Bengals+1.5+7.5Rams-7-1While not a traditional Wong teaser leg, getting double digits in Thursday night's showdown for the AFC West gathers up all of the one-score options. It even keeps Chargers +10 for a push if there's a late field goal to stretch it to two scores. The Browns can drop down to PK, which is somewhat scary given how little even Cleveland seems to trust Baker Mayfield. Taking the Dolphins and 49ers down to -2.5 is mathematically viable, but I think both teams are a little overvalued in the current line.As you likely know by now, my favorite teaser leg is taking a tightly lined game and teasing it up over a full touchdown. You can rely on the Patriots, Steelers, and Bengals to play to the final gun, and they're all certainly live to win outright, so that's where I would start.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Jerry Jones: 'Probably fair' to call Dak's recent dip a slump
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday it's "probably fair" to describe Dak Prescott's recent drop-off as a slump, despite his coaches suggesting otherwise."I don't want to say that - slump - but that's probably fair," Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. "But it's such a multifaceted evaluation that I would say that our offense is definitely away from where we were playing five and six games ago from the standpoint of production. What the opposing defenses have to do with it needs to be considered."Prescott raced out to a hot start in 2021, but he's thrown eight touchdowns and six interceptions since returning from a calf injury that cost him a game in late October. He threw two picks to the Washington Football Team in Week 14, including one that was returned for a touchdown and gave Washington hopes of a late comeback. After averaging 34.2 points per game over their first six contests of the season, Prescott and the Cowboys have put up 25.8 points over their last six."I don't think Dak is in a slump," McCarthy said Monday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "I think everything has not gone the way we would like to go are things we can improve on."Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said he wasn't keen on the "description of slumps" when asked about Prescott's dip.Jones also said Prescott is healthy, cooling any speculation that an injury could be leading to the signal-caller's inefficiencies.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Browns place Landry, 7 others on COVID-19 list
The Cleveland Browns placed eight players on the COVID-19 reserve Tuesday, including standout wide receiver Jarvis Landry.Four of the eight listed players are starters, while seven of the eight are on the offensive side of the ball:
Chiefs' Jones enters COVID-19 protocols
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced Tuesday that defensive end Chris Jones is in COVID-19 protocols, according to Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star.Jones' participation in Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers is now in doubt. The 27-year-old has 12 tackles, seven sacks, and one forced fumble for the Chiefs this season, including a season-high 3.5 sacks in a 19-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 21.In the Chiefs' most recent win - a 48-9 blowout of the Las Vegas Raiders - Jones tallied one assisted tackle and 0.5 sacks.Reid also noted L'Jarius Sneed won't practice Tuesday but is returning to Kansas City after the cornerback missed the Raiders game due to the death of his brother."I think it will be good for him to be around his teammates," Reid said, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Jags owner doesn't want to make 'impulsive' Meyer decision
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan isn't going to make a spur-of-the-moment decision on Urban Meyer amid reports of tension between the head coach and members of the organization."I want to do the right thing for the team. I want to do the right thing for the city," Khan said Monday, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "That, to me, is way more important than just acting helter-skelter on emotion. I think we have a history of really looking at the facts and then really doing the right thing."Khan pointed to his track record of being patient with previous head coaches, though he added the situation surrounding Meyer is different than those in the past. The owner's comments come after a report emerged Saturday claiming the head coach had multiple run-ins with players and staff. These incidents apparently included a dispute with wide receiver Marvin Jones, which reportedly resulted in him briefly leaving the facility, and Meyer calling his assistant coaches losers.Meyer denied the report after the Jaguars' 20-0 loss to the Tennessee Titans while also threatening to fire anyone caught leaking information to the media. The ordeal is just the latest in what's been a turbulent season for the first-time NFL coach. Meyer also faced questions earlier this campaign when a video of him at a bar with a woman who wasn't his wife went viral.Khan explained that he won't be "impulsive" when it comes to making a call on Meyer's future."I learned that a long time ago with anything that's this important. You don't want to be impulsive," Khan said. "You want to look at exactly what I know first-hand or people are telling me and then collect that and do the right thing."The Jaguars suffered their fifth straight loss to fall to 2-11 on Sunday. The offense has noticeably struggled, while No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence has thrown more interceptions (14) than touchdowns (9).Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. 37 positive COVID-19 tests across NFL marks new single-day high
There were 37 positive COVID-19 test results across the NFL on Monday, the highest number among players since the pandemic began.Thirty-six players were placed on the COVID-19 reserve Monday and another positive test came in after the transaction wire was released, per Mark Maske of The Washington Post.
Rams' Ramsey, Higbee miss MNF after hitting COVID-19 list
The Los Angeles Rams placed cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Tyler Higbee on the COVID-19 reserve Monday, the team announced. Both players missed the Monday Night Football contest against the Arizona Cardinals as a result of their placement on the reserve group.Los Angeles now has five players on the COVID-19 list, including running back Darrell Henderson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.Ramsey tested positive while Higbee initially received a positive result but then tested negative twice, Schefter added. The latter can be activated Tuesday if he tests negative again.Head coach Sean McVay said in August that only one player on the Rams' active roster was unvaccinated before the season, per Cameron DaSilva of USA Today.Losing Ramsey is a big blow for the Rams. The four-time Pro Bowler has racked up 59 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and three interceptions this season while allowing a 69.2 passer rating when targeted.Higbee ranks third on the team in receptions behind only wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods - the latter of whom recently suffered a season-ending injury. Report: Las Vegas to host 2024 Super Bowl
Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, will be announced as the host of Super Bowl LVIII in 2024, pending final approval from the owners, sources told Vincent Bonsignore of The Las Vegas Review-Journal.An official announcement is expected to take place at the NFL owners' meetings Wednesday. The 2024 Super Bowl was originally set to take place in New Orleans, but the city was forced to relinquish the event due to a conflict with Mardi Gras celebrations.Las Vegas proved to NFL owners it could accommodate the Super Bowl by crafting a multi-level plan, Bonsignore adds.Allegiant Stadium holds 65,000 seats, which falls short of the NFL's requirement of 70,000 for the championship game. However, more seating could possibly be added, or the league could make amendments, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. The Raiders moved from Oakland to Las Vegas ahead of the 2020 campaign. The city is also slated to host the 2022 NFL Draft and Pro Bowl.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Josh Allen day-to-day with foot sprain, has chance to play in Week 15
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Josh Allen is day-to-day with a foot sprain and has a chance to play in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic.Allen sported a walking boot following the Bills' overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Trainers looked at his foot during the game, though he managed to finish the contest. Allen said postgame he isn't overly concerned about the injury. The Bills quarterback threw for 308 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the loss.Allen has completed 65.8% of his passes for 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions this season. The Bills are in the midst of the AFC's playoff race at 7-6 but have lost two straight games.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Harbaugh plans to start Lamar vs. Packers: 'If he can go, he'll go'
Lamar Jackson's availability for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers remains unconfirmed due to an ankle injury, but Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh plans to have his star quarterback under center in Week 15."We're going to see where we're at with the situation," Harbaugh said Monday. "The plans are right now, in my mind, for Lamar to be out there, so we'll see how it goes this week. If he can go, he'll go. If not, Tyler (Huntley) will be the quarterback."Harbaugh added he doesn't know whether Jackson will practice Wednesday, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.Jackson sprained his right ankle during a 24-22 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. He limped off the field after taking a hit and was carted to the locker room in the second quarter. The former NFL MVP attempted only four passes before exiting.Huntley replaced Jackson and almost led the Ravens to a late comeback over Cleveland. He finished his relief appearance with 270 yards and one touchdown on 27-for-38 passing. He also added 45 yards on the ground.Jackson was an MVP candidate through the first half of the season but has struggled to replicate his earlier performances lately. The 24-year-old, who missed one game due to an illness, has tossed only three touchdowns against six interceptions in his last three full appearances.Huntley made his first career start as Jackson's replacement in Week 11, helping Baltimore edge out the Chicago Bears. The Ravens are 8-5 this season and sit first in the AFC North.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Browns' Hunt unlikely to play vs. Raiders
Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt is considered week-to-week with an ankle injury, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. He is unlikely to play Saturday against the Las Vegas Raiders, Stefanski said.Hunt was injured while attempting to make a catch on third down in the first quarter of the Browns' 24-22 win over the Ravens. He left the game and did not return. The former Pro Bowler reportedly could have returned to the contest if necessary, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Hunt left the game with 5 rushing yards on two carries to go along with two receptions for 13 yards. With Hunt expected to be sidelined in Week 15, the Browns will likely rely on Nick Chubb and D'Ernest Johnson in the backfield.Hunt missed time earlier this season when he was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a calf injury in Week 6.He's rushed for 386 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. He has also hauled in 22 receptions for 174 yards.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Ravens' title odds tumble after loss, Lamar injury
The Ravens' season started with a rash of injuries. It could end that way, too.Star quarterback Lamar Jackson was carted to the locker room early in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Browns with what is likely a sprained ankle, and his timetable is still uncertain. Oddsmakers are already pessimistic about the Ravens' chances without him - pricing them as 30-1 long shots just a week after they were dealing as 15-1 contenders.TEAMODDSTampa Bay Buccaneers+500Kansas City Chiefs+550New England Patriots+600Green Bay Packers+700Arizona Cardinals+750Dallas Cowboys+1200Los Angeles Rams+1200Buffalo Bills+1500Tennessee Titans+1800Los Angeles Chargers+2100Indianapolis Colts+3000Baltimore Ravens+3000San Francisco 49ers+3300Cleveland Browns+3500Cincinnati Bengals+4000Minnesota Vikings+8000Philadelphia Eagles+10000Washington Football Team+10000Denver Broncos+12000Las Vegas Raiders+15000New Orleans Saints+15000Pittsburgh Steelers+15000Seattle Seahawks+20000Miami Dolphins+25000Atlanta Falcons+50000Chicago Bears+100000New York Giants+100000Carolina Panthers+100000Baltimore was already struggling to keep pace atop the AFC North, even before losing its former MVP quarterback. Sunday's defeat was the Ravens' second straight to a division rival after last week's ugly 20-19 loss to the Steelers, and they're just one game ahead of the Bengals for the division lead. The issue, surprisingly, has been on offense, which would only be exacerbated if Jackson's absence is lengthy. Sunday's 22-point effort was Baltimore's best since Week 9, and the team has averaged just 16.6 points per game in five games since. That's the eighth-lowest mark in the league over that time and marks the worst five-game stretch for the Ravens since 2015, which was their only losing season (5-11) in 13 years under John Harbaugh. They'll need a miracle to avoid a similar fate down the stretch if Jackson can't go. Tyler Huntley performed admirably in relief, but he completed just one pass of 15 yards or more in the final nine minutes and airmailed multiple shots downfield in the final stretch of the game. He also isn't the weapon that Jackson is on the ground, obviously, which is crucial given how thin the Ravens' backfield is after a litany of preseason injuries.Even if Jackson can return in the next few weeks, Baltimore's secondary is on its last legs after losing Marlon Humphrey a week ago and Marcus Peters before the season. That could pose a significant issue in the final weeks of the campaign, as the Ravens face three of the NFL's top 10 passing offenses in the final three weeks.Baltimore is still a slim favorite to win the AFC North (+165), with the Browns (+175) and Bengals (+275) breathing down their neck. The team's ability to deliver on those odds likely depends on how much time Jackson misses, if any at all. There could be value on this group if he returns soon and the offense rediscovers its magic from past seasons. If not, the Ravens' season will be over sooner than anyone expected.C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. Cowboys' Parsons: 'I don't really think the NFL is hard'
Micah Parsons has been an instant star for the Dallas Cowboys in his first season, making the leap from college to the NFL look simple.Even though the rookie's been tasked with playing both off-ball linebacker and pass-rusher, Parsons believes the learning curve in the pros is overhyped."I don't really think the NFL is hard," Parsons told Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. "I think they got some really great players around here. But I just think it's a bunch of players that work really hard, and I think it rubs off whenever you play guys like La'el (Collins in practice)."When I'm going against La'el and I'm challenging him every down, saying, 'What could I do there? How can I make this better?' Or I'm going against Zack (Martin), and I'm just getting those opportunities, it really just makes those guys (on other teams) not look as good."Parsons has all but locked up Defensive Rookie of the Year after racking up 12 sacks, 75 total tackles, and three forced fumbles in 13 games. The 22-year-old's recent play has been so spectacular that he's also receiving Defensive Player of the Year buzz. He had two sacks in Sunday's win against the Washington Football Team to make it five straight games with at least one sack.Parsons' positional flexibility has been invaluable to Dallas, especially earlier in the season when defensive ends Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence were sidelined due to injury. While some are calling for Parsons to play exclusively on the edge because he's displayed elite pass-rushing traits, the first-round pick just wants to be on the field as much as possible."I view myself as one of the most versatile players in the NFL," Parsons said. "I mean, I'm a guy that can do it all, but I want to do it all. I just want every opportunity I can get. I always say you gotta take advantage of the opportunities, and I just feel like any chance I can get to be on the field is just a great opportunity for me to display my talents. I don't really believe in wasting opportunities, so I'm a guy that just wants to be out there."And everyone takes it too serious, but I used to play football for free, so I'm just having fun within the game."Parsons will continue his chase for the rookie sack record, which Jevon Kearse set at 14.5 in 1999. Next up for the Cowboys are the New York Giants in Week 15.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Rodgers: Toe feels worse after SNF, surgery remains last resort
The Green Bay Packers' win over the Chicago Bears came at a cost, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed he aggravated his fractured pinky toe."It feels worse," Rodgers said, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "I don't know what kind of setback that I had tonight but we'll look at it tomorrow. Definitely took a step back tonight."Rodgers suffered the injury while working out away from the team after testing positive for COVID-19 in November. He opted to rest during Green Bay's bye last week instead of undergoing surgery. The injury reportedly could hinder the quarterback for the rest of the season without surgery. Rodgers was told a procedure wouldn't require him to miss time.Rodgers will undergo tests Monday but remains adamant he'd rather not go under the knife."That would be last resort, for sure," Rodgers said. "But I've got to see what kind of setback it was."Rodgers continued to state his case for back-to-back MVP awards with a four-touchdown, 341-yard performance against his team's division rival.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. 10 takeaways from NFL Week 14
Sunday Rundown recaps the most important developments from the day's action and examines the significance of them moving forward.Lamar joins Ravens' extensive injury list Jason Miller / Getty Images Sport / GettyEvery team is dealing with injuries at this time of year, but no side has had it worse on that front in 2021 than the Baltimore Ravens, according to an ESPN analysis. And now QB Lamar Jackson is hurt, tooIn the second quarter of Sunday's loss at the Cleveland Browns, Jackson suffered what head coach John Harbaugh described as a right ankle sprain. Harbaugh also told reporters that Jackson could undergo more tests on Monday, depending on how he responds. So there's no telling how bad this is or how long Jackson might remain sidelined. The Ravens were already without three running backs, their fullback, their top two corners, a safety, and their left tackle, among many others. Baltimore's used bubble gum and duct tape to hold things together and scratch out five fourth-quarter comebacks, and the Ravens are somehow still atop the AFC North since the Cincinnati Bengals can't seem to sustain success for more than a week or two.But Baltimore also just lost its second in a row and fell to 1-3 within the division, with games against the Green Bay Packers (home), the Bengals (away), and Los Angeles Rams (home) up next. Jackson hasn't been a scintillating passer this year, but he's taken the Ravens this far, and his game is dependent on his ability to run. If he's out for a while, it's going to be a big problem. It sure seems like Urban Meyer has checked outWhat a weekend for Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer, huh?First, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Saturday that Meyer's being an autocratic jabroni toward his players and assistant coaches. Then Jay Glazer said on Fox's pregame show that Meyer denied having gotten into it with wideout Marvin Jones while admitting he can be hard on his assistants. Notably, that's not a denial of Pelissero's report, which included the juicy tidbit that Meyer had called his assistants "losers" to their faces and asked about their resumés. (Never mind that Meyer's the one who had hired those assistants, to begin with.)Then the Tennessee Titans shut out the Jags, dropping them to 2-11. This about sums up what happened:

Washington's McLaurin, Heinicke injured in loss vs. Cowboys
The Washington Football Team finished Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys without two key starters on the field due to ailments. The team ruled wide receiver Terry McLaurin out in the third quarter with a concussion and sidelined quarterback Taylor Heinicke in the fourth quarter due to a knee injury.McLaurin failed to register a catch before exiting, with Washington down big to its division rivals. The 26-year-old is the focal point of the NFC East club's passing attack, entering Week 14 with team highs in catches (61), receiving yards (801), and receiving touchdowns (five).Running back J.D. McKissic, who was inactive against Dallas, is second with 43 catches for 397 yards. If McLaurin misses time past this game, Adam Humphries and DeAndre Carter will likely take on expanded roles.Heinicke threw for just 122 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 11-of-25 passing before being sidelined as Washington trailed 27-8. Kyle Allen entered the game under center, completing four of nine pass attempts for 53 yards. The team expects the passer to undergo an MRI on his knee Monday but thinks he'll be able to start in Week 15, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Rams-Cardinals best bets: Can Arizona complete season sweep?
If the Arizona Cardinals win on Monday, they'd move three games clear in the NFC West and have the tiebreaker over the chasing Los Angeles Rams. This is essentially a must-win for Sean McVay's team to keep their division hopes alive. Here's how we're betting Rams-Cardinals:C Jackson Cowart: Stafford longest completion over 37.5 yardsIt's been a rough stretch as of late for Stafford, who's thrown five interceptions in the last four weeks amid a 1-3 stretch for the Rams. What hasn't faltered is Los Angeles' deep passing game, which will surely be an emphasis against a division rival.Entering Week 14, Stafford ranks second in the league in yards per completion (12.4) and in the top three for intended air yards (3,790) and completed air yards (1,989). He's uncorked a pass of at least 40 yards in two straight games and eight of his 12 games this season - and he recorded a completion of at least 30 yards in three of those other four games. This line seems to be shaded against Stafford because of his overall struggles, not because of his issues downfield. With another week of chemistry with Odell Beckham and a continued connection with star receiver Cooper Kupp, expect one of those two - or tertiary threat Van Jefferson - to haul in a deep pass on Monday.Alex Moretto: Under 51.5This definitely won't be a fun under to watch given the star power of these offenses, and the game could absolutely turn into a track meet under the right circumstances - and the total reflects that. However, it doesn't reflect the talent of the defenses, and there's a case to be made that they are the best two units in the NFL.The scores haven't flattered the Rams over the last four weeks, but that's largely been a product of short fields and turnovers - not the defense. In the last four games, the Rams have allowed just 4.4 yards per play, bringing their season total down to 5.1 (fourth-best in the league). Meanwhile, the Cardinals have allowed just 4.7 yards per play over their last six games, dropping their season total to 5.2 (sixth-best).I expect both teams to try and establish themselves here via the ground game with so much at stake. They'll look to control possession, keep the opposing offense on the sidelines, and keep their defenses fresh. With a run-heavy approach and both teams playing particularly well defensively, this rematch is going to look a lot different than the season's first meeting in L.A.Matt Russell: Rams +2.5I'm hoping to get +3 as time passes on Monday, especially since sportsbooks will have a fair amount of parlay liability tied to the Cardinals at such a short price after just about every favorite covered on Sunday. This has been one of those weeks where season-long losers get rejuvenated. While they will be a popular play, the line did come off of Cardinals -3, as it was deemed too much of an adjustment following their September matchup with the Rams. While the Cardinals won that game handily and have the better record, oddsmakers still have these teams rated evenly. The Cardinals won't be the beneficiaries of the turnovers that were provided last week, so if I see the Rams +3 back on the menu Monday, I'll play it.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Meyer denies report of Jaguars tension, threatens to fire source of leaks
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer denied a recent report of tension between himself and the organization on Sunday and threatened to fire the source if the leak was internal."Starting leaking some information or nonsense? That's garbage," Meyer said following Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB. "If there is a source, then that source is unemployed. I mean, within seconds."A report emerged Saturday claiming the first-year NFL coach had multiple run-ins with players and staff. Wide receiver Marvin Jones reportedly left the facility for a brief period due to Meyer's criticism and had to be convinced by assistants to return; assistant coaches were also apparently called losers by the head coach.Meyer said postgame Sunday that he and Jones are on good terms following a conversation, according to team reporter Ashlyn Sullivan. He also denied calling his assistant coaches losers but admitted he's demanding and honest with them, per Sullivan.Meyer's first year with the Jaguars has been filled with controversy and disappointing results. The Jaguars fell to 2-11 after a 20-0 loss to the Titans on Sunday. He also came under fire for his usage of running back James Robinson prior to the contest. Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is on pace to return from his broken foot by the beginning of the postseason, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.Henry, who broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in Week 8, could potentially be ready for Week 18 if the Titans are in a must-win situation, according to Rapoport.Henry led the NFL in rushing and was in the thick of the MVP discussion when he suffered the injury against the Indianapolis Colts. The Titans' rushing attack has regressed in his absence, with inefficiency and ball insecurity hindering the offense over the last four games.Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel said in November that his star runner "absolutely" had a chance to make it back to the lineup this season. The NFL's premier power back rumbled for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns through the first eight weeks. Gardner Minshew got the start and impressed in a win over the New York Jets, completing 20 of 25 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. While Minshew's performance wasn't enough to create a quarterback controversy in Philadelphia, it could lead to trade interest in the young signal-caller in the offseason, adds Rapoport.Minshew, who was acquired from the Jacksonville Jaguars in August for a sixth-round pick, is under contract for one more season. The Eagles reportedly already received calls for their backup this year. The Carolina Panthers inquired about a move for Minshew prior to the trade deadline and before adding Cam Newton and Matt Barkley.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Report: Lions facing possible roster shortage ahead of Broncos game
The Detroit Lions are facing a potential roster crunch ahead of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Detroit placed six players on the COVID-19 reserve this week. The team also encountered a flu outbreak that affected 12 other players and six coaches over the last few days, Schefter reports.A total of 22 players - including several offensive and defensive linemen - were held out of practice Thursday, according to Dave Birkett of Detroit Free Press.Running back Jamaal Williams, who was expected to start over injured D'Andre Swift, practiced Friday before being placed on the COVID-19 list after a positive test. The Lions are reportedly worried that any person around Williams may have contracted the virus or will be deemed a close contact.Detroit will continue to test its players Sunday morning before potentially adding more players to the reserve.Additionally, the Lions have discussed potential measures in case more players are sidelined, including delaying the game to Monday night, per Schefter. The kickoff between Denver and Detroit is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bears-Packers best bets: More Lambeau misery in store for Chicago?
The Chicago Bears have lost five straight against the Green Bay Packers and five in a row at Lambeau, last winning there in 2015. Can Justin Fields help end this miserable run? Here's how we're betting Bears-Packers:C Jackson Cowart: Bears over 1.5 touchdowns (+110)I'm as skeptical of the Bears' offense as the next guy behind their revolving door at QB, but this price is a gross overreaction to Chicago's scoring woes and leaves plenty of value on the table. In Fields' nine games this year with a majority of the snaps, the Bears have scored at least two touchdowns in seven of them and at least 20 points in five, including in each of his last two full-game appearances. Chicago had one of its worst showings of the season the last time it faced the Packers and still managed a pair of scores in that one, too.Green Bay's defense has had its moments of brilliance this year, but it's still surrendered at least two touchdowns in nine of 12 games - which includes a combined seven TDs allowed over the last two weeks. The Packers may not get torched in this matchup, but don't expect them to shut the door completely on Fields and Co.Alex Moretto: Bears +12You're paying quite a premium if you lay the points with the Packers here, and are getting a nice discount taking them with the Bears. Chicago is getting 12 points a week after getting seven against the Cardinals, and even when you account for home-field advantage, that's simply too big a jump. The Bears didn't cover against Arizona, losing by 11, but that works to our benefit here. Andy Dalton was wildly irresponsible in the loss, throwing three interceptions directly leading to Cardinals touchdown drives of 28, 15, and 12 yards. Fields will be back under center for this one, and while he's no stranger to turning the ball over, his running ability is the perfect fit for this bad-weather game. In cold, wet, and windy conditions we're going to see a lot more running from both teams, helping the Bears stay within a big number. We're also getting a better price on Chicago because the Packers are coming off their bye, which bettors are being asked to pay up for despite it being a spot that's actually negatively impacted teams over the last few years. Add in the return of Allen Robinson, and this is a really nice spot to back the Bears to keep it within single digits. I'd play this all the way down to +10.Matt Russell: Bears +12It may sound strange, but while Dalton gives the Bears a better chance to win a tightly lined game, I believe Fields has a better chance of preventing the Bears from getting blown out.During the Mitch Trubisky era, this game was often lined in the single digits. I have this edition of the NFL's oldest rivalry at around 10 points, so there's a value element to this game. On the field, the Packers have continued to get it done as the NFL's best team against the spread, but that widely known fact is what's provided the extra points we're getting. Fields can keep a few drives alive with his playmaking ability, and the Bears should be locked in after being told all about how Aaron Rodgers owns them.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc.
