New England Patriots running back James White is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a hip injury he sustained in Week 3, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates.White was reportedly diagnosed with a subluxation after exiting the Patriots' loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. He rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries over the first three contests of 2021, adding 12 receptions for 94 yards.A multi-year team captain, White has been a reliable pass-catcher throughout his eight-year career with the Patriots. He's logged more career receiving yards (3,278) and receiving touchdowns (25) than rushing yards (1,278) and rushing touchdowns (11).White, who scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl LI, returned to the Patriots on a one-year deal in 2021 after testing free agency for the first time.New England will forge ahead with Damien Harris, J.J. Taylor, Rhamondre Stevenson, and Brandon Bolden at running back.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid doesn't expect Josh Gordon to play against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 after the pass-catcher signed with the team earlier this week."It's going to take a while,'' Reid said, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher. "He's probably not going to play this week. We'll just see how it goes over the next week or two."Gordon, who joined the Chiefs' practice squad Monday, hasn't played in an NFL game since 2019. Kansas City will reportedly elevate him from the practice squad once his conditioning and understanding of the playbook have advanced to an adequate level. The Pro Bowler exploded onto the scene in 2013, leading the league with 1,646 receiving yards. He's since struggled to stay on the field while receiving six suspensions. The Chiefs are hopeful that Gordon's large stature adds another dimension to a receiving group that features the likes of speedy wideout Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman."He's a big receiver," Patrick Mahomes said. "Even if he's covered, he's not covered. You can kind of throw it up there and he can make plays.''The Chiefs' high-powered offense has produced over 395 yards in each of their three games this season, with Travis Kelce (289), Hill (267), and Hardman (107) all totaling 100-plus yards through the air.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick denied turning down Tom Brady's request to bid farewell face-to-face in 2020, calling the claim "not true."ESPN senior writer Seth Wickersham's book, "It's Better to Be Feared," which reveals internal details about the Patriots organization, claims Belichick told his longtime quarterback he wasn't available and insisted on doing the goodbye over the phone. Brady reportedly told a friend the decision showed just how the connection between the two had eroded."No, that's not true," Belichick said Wednesday. "I heard a few things about this book, and it sounds like it's a lot of second-, third-, and fourth-hand comments, but I'm not going to get into that."Wickersham also notes that Belichick's belief that the veteran field general was close to a career decline played into the 2020 split as New England was unwilling to commit to Brady long-term. However, Brady also wanted to join a team where his voice would have more influence on personnel decisions, Wickersham adds. The former Patriots duo was responsible for one of the most dominant dynasties in sports during their 20 years together. With Brady and Belichick, New England won six Super Bowls and made the playoffs 17 times.Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during last year's free agency and continued his winning ways, taking home his seventh Super Bowl in his first season with the club. The 44-year-old signal-caller will face the Patriots on Sunday night in his first return to New England since his departure.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce believes LeBron James would've dominated as an NFL player if he pursued football over basketball.James confirmed this week on ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast with Peyton and Eli Manning that he received offers to play for the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks during the 2011 NBA lockout. The 17-time NBA All-Star "definitely thought about it" and still has the jerseys both teams sent him.Kelce, an Ohio native like James, told TMZ Sports there's no doubt the Los Angeles Lakers star would've been a "problem" in the NFL."I think LeBron is one of the greatest athletes in the world, right? So I think his athleticism, how knowledgeable he is about the game of basketball, that you can tell how he plays," Kelce said. "He gets down to the scheme of things, and that's a lot about being a football player is understanding schemes and going out there and playing free and letting your athleticism show."I think 'Bron would have definitely been a problem on the football field, no doubt about it. Especially with the tight end room. That's the thing, us northeast Ohio guys, man. We're all-around athletes, you know? You can throw us in any sport and we'll have success."Kelce, like many people, would've liked to see James make the transition from the NBA to the NFL."I think that's a question we all want to see, we all want to figure out, right? Whether or not he'd be able to do it," Kelce said. "Like I said, his athleticism - I think there's a few guys in the NBA that could make that transition, but him definitely being one of them."Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he announced on his podcast Wednesday."Everything has been kind of wiry this offseason, but I finally had enough conversations, and I came to a decision that I’m going to go play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," Sherman said.Sherman revealed he also had discussions with the San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks before choosing to join the defending Super Bowl champions. His contract with the Buccaneers is reportedly a one-year deal worth $2.25 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 33-year-old flew to Tampa Bay on Tuesday night to visit the team. Adding Sherman helps elevate a Bucs cornerback group that is dealing with multiple injuries, with Sean Murphy-Bunting suffering a dislocated elbow in Week 1 and Jamel Dean sustaining a knee injury Sunday.Tom Brady, who enjoyed his share of on-field battles with Sherman during the cornerback's time with the Seahawks, helped facilitate the signing."Obviously, with our situations, it didn’t seem likely at any point in time, but he reached out and said (the Bucs) may express interest. And obviously, he wanted to play with me," Sherman added. The veteran cornerback rose to fame as a member of Seattle's "Legion of Boom" defense. Sherman earned three First-Team All-Pro selections and a Super Bowl victory while also recording 32 interceptions over his seven-year tenure with the Seahawks. He spent the last three seasons with the 49ers, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2019 and accumulating four interceptions.Police arrested Sherman in July for trying to forcefully enter his in-laws' residence and initially charged him with burglary domestic violence, which was later downgraded to a misdemeanor of criminal trespass. He also faces several other misdemeanors, but he's pleaded not guilty to all charges.Sherman released a statement after the July incident, stating he was "deeply remorseful" for his actions.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New York Giants are signing 2020 first-round tackle Isaiah Wilson to their practice squad, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.Wilson is attempting a comeback attempt after both the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins dumped him due to off-field issues earlier this year. The Titans spent their 29th overall pick on Wilson in 2020 before trading him to Miami after just one season. Wilson played just three snaps as a rookie prior to being suspended for violating team rules, and he was arrested for DUI.The offensive lineman's time with the Dolphins lasted less than two weeks after he reportedly refused the club's plans to help him get back on track.Wilson worked out for the Giants on Tuesday. He also opened up about his struggles as a rookie while announcing his comeback attempt on Instagram earlier this week.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had effusive praise during his press conference Wednesday for quarterback Tom Brady, whom he'll face off against for the first time Sunday night when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit Gillette Stadium.Belichick acknowledged he has a difficult assignment heading into a chess match with the longtime passer he drafted and coached for 20 years."Tough as any quarterback there is or ever has been, enough said," Belichick said when asked how difficult it would be to defend Brady."His numbers are incredible. He's about to pass the all-time passing record. He's done more than any other player at that position in whatever measurement you want to take, whether it's yards, completions, touchdowns, championships. You name it. ... Doesn't get any tougher than him."Brady and Belichick split after the 2019 campaign, and the signal-caller went on to flourish in Florida, winning the Super Bowl in their one season apart. Belichick called Brady's career "unbelievable" and marveled at his ability to play at an elite level into his mid-40s."Nothing Tom does surprises me. He's a great player. Works hard, takes care of himself. He's talking about playing until 50. If anybody can do it, he probably can," he said.Sunday's game could feature a bit of cat and mouse, as Brady and Belichick have unique institutional knowledge of how the other operates."I think there's a little bit of that with anybody that you play, other coaches, other players. Certainly, Tom has an intimate knowledge of everything that we do here, more so than any other player in the league by far. I'm sure he'll use it to his advantage, I would expect him to," Belichick said.Their separation was reportedly a contentious one, with Belichick turning down Brady's request to say goodbye face-to-face and choosing to speak over the phone instead, according to ESPN's Seth Wickersham. Belichick denied that report and said he's looking forward to the challenge of facing his former players, including tight end Rob Gronkowski, in Week 4's marquee matchup."No that's not true, and I heard a few things about this book, and it sounds like it's a lot of second-, third-, and fourth-hand comments, but I'm not going to get into that. I'm going to focus on this game," Belichick said.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Last week, we pondered what a quarterback was worth to the spread, specifically young quarterbacks either replacing a veteran or being replaced by one.The market seemed to like Justin Fields replacing an injured Andy Dalton. Whoops. The market seemed to not like Jacoby Brissett in for Tua Tagovailoa. Whoops. This week's theme will be less about quarterbacks and more about the "bad-team tax" put on some very average rosters against the early-season dregs of the NFL.Jaguars @ Bengals (-7.5, 46)Thursday's game will be billed as a meeting between the last two top draft choices, but for bettors, the intrigue is about whether we can get to the Bengals as 7.5-point favorites. They were -2.5 in the summer and -6.5 last week, but Cincinnati's road win against the Steelers has pushed it over the key number of -7. My ratings can't get there, though, as I don't think that much of the Bengals' home-field advantage. This should be below -7, and I'll be betting accordingly.Giants @ Saints (-7.5, 43.5)The second game in which a middle-of-the-pack team is elevated above -7 against a winless team. The "Jekyll and Hyde" Saints finally get to play at home in the dome, but that's not reason enough to push them to -8, where this opened. For the second straight week, the Giants were the better team from a yards-per-play standpoint but couldn't convert in the red zone. Sharp bettors will see that and take the points with New York. Money has since come in on the Giants to knock this down to -7.5, and I anticipate it closing at a flat -7.Titans @ Jets (+7.5, 45.5)There's less hope for the Jets. Like the games above, this line has jumped the key number of -7, but unlike the others, it's due to utterly horrific play from the 0-3 team. New York hasn't been competitive this season, so we'll let it show us something - anything - before we back it. If you can stomach laying over a touchdown with the Titans, then more power to you.Texans @ Bills (-16.5, 48)There's jumping -7 and then there's jumping -14, which is where we're at with opponents of the 2021 Texans. My numbers put the Bills at -14, as they were in the summer, but this opened back up at -17.5 on Sunday. Someone out there agrees with my ratings, as it's dipped a point to -16.5. There's not enough of an edge for me to get involved, though.Lions @ Bears (-3, 42.5)Wait, the 0-3 team is supposed to see the line move away from them! Not here.It turns out that unspeakable quarterback play trumps bad team in this one. The Bears were 6-point favorites in lookahead markets last week, but that was when bettors liked the idea of Fields getting the reins. Now Nick Foles is back from the quarterback netherworld as a potential candidate to start, and the market is horrified. This is a case of no good options for the Bears, combined with the Lions showing two-to-three quarters of friskiness in each game, which might be enough to get Detroit its first win Sunday.Washington @ Falcons (+1.5, 48)This one has been a roller coaster. Washington moved from +2.5 in the summer to a -1.5 favorite last week, back to a short underdog on Sunday's re-open, and bet back to a favorite again. This shouldn't come as a surprise, though, as the Falcons' win was far from impressive, and for reasons hard to fathom, Washington has taken enough money to move the line toward it every week so far this season.Cardinals @ Rams (-4.5, 54.5)You snooze, you lose. After the Rams' big win over the Buccaneers, the market opened with L.A. as 6-point favorites over the Cardinals. That felt high, as I have the Rams 3.9 points better in this situation. Sure enough, on Tuesday afternoon, a group somewhere hit the Cardinals to bring it back down to its summer lookahead price of -4.5. Now we wait to see if Cardinals +6 ever comes back.Ravens @ Broncos (-1.5, 44)The summer lookahead line for this game would suggest the Broncos are a prime candidate for inclusion in our weekly round-robin moneyline underdog parlay, with Denver having been a 2.5-point home 'dog. But now they're favored, so there goes that. It's not hard to understand why, but the Broncos' 3-0 record is built on wins over the three bad teams we opened this column with. A second straight dramatic win Sunday makes this a tougher spot for the Ravens.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. If there’s a bad beat to be had, Matt will find it. The Tennessee Titans could be without their two star receivers for Week 4.Julio Jones' status is up in the air as he deals with a leg injury, while A.J. Brown could miss one-to-two weeks with a hamstring injury, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.Jones exited in the second half of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts after hauling in three passes for 47 yards. Brown left early in the first half without making a reception. In the duo's absence, sophomore Nick Westbrook-Ikhine led the receiving corps with four catches for 53 yards and a score in the 25-16 victory. After three games, the Titans rank 21st in passing. The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. This week, we identify the biggest cause for concern on each NFL team three games into the season.1. Los Angeles Rams (3-0) Katelyn Mulcahy / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 2It's not exactly a big cause for concern, but the Rams' special teams don't look as flawless as the rest of the team right now. Granted, the unit was solid against the Bucs, but it allowed long kick returns and suffered a brutal turnover in the previous two games.2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)Previous Rank: 1Tampa Bay's pass rush, one of football's most effective in 2020, has been inconsistent, with the team registering a league-low three sacks despite blitzing opposing quarterbacks an NFL-high 61 times.3. Buffalo Bills (2-1)Previous Rank: 6The Bills' offensive line has struggled in pass protection, ranking 30th in that category after three weeks, according to PFF. Josh Allen, who somehow has managed to be sacked only four times, is being pressured in 31.6% of his dropbacks - the highest rate of his career.4. Cleveland Browns (2-1)Previous Rank: 4It wouldn't be fair to list defense - Cleveland's main cause for concern over the first two weeks - as the main issue after a nine-sack outing versus Chicago. Browns fans should instead hope the offensive line can improve its protection for Baker Mayfield, who's having less pocket time than last season (2.7 to 2.4 seconds) and has already suffered nine sacks.5. Green Bay Packers (2-1) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 10The Packers' defensive unit has struggled to get opponents off the field. Green Bay has allowed a touchdown in all 10 red-zone trips against them thus far, and its opponents have the third-highest average time of offensive drives.6. Arizona Cardinals (3-0)Previous Rank: 5Arizona's defense has struggled stopping the run, allowing 422 yards through three games (5.4 per carry). A large part of it has to do with bad tackling, as the Cardinals currently rank 30th in that category, per PFF.7. Los Angeles Chargers (2-1)Previous Rank: 15The Chargers lead the AFC with 26 penalties, which corresponds to a league-worst 243 yards given up. Los Angeles had two touchdowns called back because of flags in Week 2 and another one in Week 3.8. Las Vegas Raiders (3-0)Previous Rank: 9Raiders fans don't have major concerns amid their first 3-0 start since 2002 but they have played almost 20 extra minutes of football this season (two overtimes in three weeks). While the extra playing time may not have a short-term effect, it'll likely test the team's depth in the long term with an extra regular-season game on the schedule this year.9. Baltimore Ravens (2-1)Previous Rank: 8Baltimore has missed 19 tackles this season and ranks 29th in tackling after three games, according to PFF. Coach John Harbaugh needs to fix the issue because the Ravens have meetings against some of the NFL's toughest running backs coming up.10. Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) David Eulitt / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 3The Chiefs have turned the ball over too many times, but we still believe Patrick Mahomes will fix that. What fans in Kansas City really should be worried about is the team's defense, which has allowed the most points while recording only four sacks.11. San Francisco 49ers (2-1)Previous Rank: 7San Francisco entered the year with questions at cornerback, and those issues have since expanded. The 49ers, who'd already lost starting corner Jason Verrett for the season, saw K'Waun Williams and Josh Norman exit Week 3 with injuries.12. Dallas Cowboys (2-1)Previous Rank: 14The Cowboys' clock management was often criticized during the first month of the season, and coach Mike McCarthy's decision not to call a timeout before halftime versus the Eagles showed that Dallas has a long way to go before fixing that issue.13. Denver Broncos (3-0)Previous Rank: 13Denver's schedule has been a cakewalk - its rivals are 0-9 after three weeks - but the team's remaining opponents won't be as easy.14. Tennessee Titans (2-1)Previous Rank: 11The Titans have more questions than answers at wide receiver, as their top wideouts - Julio Jones and A.J. Brown - are off to rough starts. Jones apparently is already facing workload management while Brown is considered week-to-week after sustaining a hamstring injury in Week 3.15. Carolina Panthers (3-0) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 17How will Carolina fare after suffering significant injuries on both sides of the ball? Star running back Christian McCaffrey will miss multiple games, while rookie corner Jaycee Horn is out for months with a broken foot. Trading for second-year cornerback CJ Henderson was a good move by the Panthers.16. New Orleans Saints (2-1)Previous Rank: 18New Orleans' ceiling on offense is very low with Jameis Winston under center. The Saints have the second-fewest passing yards through the first three weeks.17. Seattle Seahawks (1-2)Previous Rank: 12As mentioned by Seattle cornerback Tre Flowers, the Seahawks' defensive scheme has a lot of issues, especially in the secondary. Seattle has yet to record an interception this year, and it's allowed a 108.4 rating to opposing passers.18. Cincinnati Bengals (2-1)Previous Rank: 26Cincinnati still has to fix its pass protection. Joe Burrow is being pressured at the same rate as he was last season (24.1% of his dropbacks), and he's already been sacked 10 times.19. Miami Dolphins (1-2)Previous Rank: 21Is Tua Tagovailoa the franchise quarterback the Dolphins were hoping for after drafting him fifth overall last year? Tagovailoa has only had a few standout moments in Miami and was recently placed on injured reserve due to a rib injury, an ailment that also sidelined him in 2020.20. New England Patriots (1-2) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 19The lack of offensive explosiveness is the main reason the Patriots rank 26th in scoring thus far. Mac Jones attempted some deep throws in Week 3, but he's only 8-of-23 in passes of at least 15 yards this season.21. Minnesota Vikings (1-2)Previous Rank: 25Expectations were high on Minnesota's defense bouncing back this year after an abysmal 2020 campaign. However, the Vikings rank 20th in points and 28th in yards allowed, and opposing quarterbacks have posted a 119.6 passer rating against them.22. Washington Football Team (1-2)Previous Rank: 20We were expecting Washington's defense to be one of the NFL's top units, but after three weeks, it ranks in the bottom five for total yards and points allowed.23. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-2)Previous Rank: 16Pittsburgh might have more issues along its offensive line than anticipated. The unit has been the biggest issue for the struggling offense, forcing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to get rid of the ball in 2.35 seconds (lowest in the league) and allowing running back Najee Harris to get tackled at the line of scrimmage or behind it on 70% of his carries (highest rate in the NFL).24. Indianapolis Colts (0-3)Previous Rank: 22Indy's pass protection not only is the club's biggest cause for concern but perhaps its main surprise this season. The Colts, who were a top-10 pass-blocking unit in 2020, are currently the second-worst team in that category, according to PFF.25. Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) Mitchell Leff / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 23What's Nick Sirianni's plan this season? The Eagles appeared to have a quarterback-friendly offense in Week 1 but they've fallen apart since. The team handed the ball off only three times in Week 3 and didn't call a single offensive play with motion at the snap. Oh, and Philly has now committed 35 penalties, a record through the first three games of a season.26. Chicago Bears (1-2)Previous Rank: 24Regardless of who's under center, the Bears' offense looks worse week after week under coach Matt Nagy. Chicago has averaged an NFL-low 4.8 yards per pass attempt this year.27. Atlanta Falcons (1-2)Previous Rank: 30The Falcons have always featured one of football's most explosive offenses with Matt Ryan under center, but the former MVP has struggled this season. Ryan has yet to complete a pass of 20-plus yards in 2021 and his percentage of bad throws made is going up, according to Pro Football Reference.28. Houston Texans (1-2)Previous Rank: 27The Texans' scene at quarterback is more uncertain now than it was at the beginning of the season. Injured Tyrod Taylor is out for at least a month, and it's hard to ask much from rookie Davis Mills. Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson's future remains cloudy.29. Detroit Lions (0-3)Previous Rank: 29Detroit just can't stop its opponents when it matters most. The Lions' defense, which currently ranks 31st in scoring, has allowed a touchdown on 87.5% of red-zone trips, the fifth-worst mark in the league.30. New York Giants (0-3) Sarah Stier / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 28Coaching has been a question mark for the Giants, to say the least. New York is one of the NFL's most penalized teams, and Joe Judge has made several bad calls. He also lost a timeout after throwing the challenge flag following a touchdown in Week 1 (TDs are automatically reviewed).31. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3)Previous Rank: 32The high amount of turnovers is the biggest of several issues for Jacksonville. The Jaguars have suffered a league-high nine turnovers, including seven interceptions by rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence.32. New York Jets (0-3)Previous Rank: 31Where do we even start here? The Jets' offense is a complete disaster right now and averages 6.7 points per game. Rookie Zach Wilson has posted a 51.6 passer rating (worst among starters) and tossed seven interceptions while being sacked 15 times.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Drew Brees' time as the NFL's all-time passing leader will almost certainly come to a close Sunday night when Tom Brady returns to face the Patriots in New England. The former New Orleans Saints quarterback sits just 67 yards ahead of Brady, and he's rooting for the record to fall as fast as possible."I'd be all for Brady just launching the first play of the game, just go ahead and get it out of the way," Brees said, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine. "You said he needs, what? Sixty-eight yards? Let's have New England kick it in the end zone, start at the 25 and have him launch one to Mike Evans and let's just be done with it."There's no doubt I think that's gonna get knocked down pretty quick. I can't think of a guy who has invested more into his career and his preparation and kind of what he's meant for the game. It's definitely a special record because it speaks to the longevity that he's been able to experience and the level that he's been able to play at."Brees, who will be in Foxborough to cover the game as an analyst for NBC Sports, added he's "a firm believer that records are meant to be broken."The retired signal-caller took the record from Peyton Manning - who ended his Hall of Fame career with 71,940 yards - during a 2018 home game. Brees extended the all-time mark to 80,358 yards over the next two-and-half campaigns before his retirement this past offseason.Brady has already become the NFL's all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 591, surpassing Brees' 571 and Manning's 539. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers star could also take Brees' record for career completions of 7,141 this season, as he sits at 6,875 heading into Week 4.Brees doesn't expect the seven-time Super Bowl champion will get much of a chance to savor the moment of setting the record."You're so locked into the game. You really can't allow yourself to go there too much," Brees said. "It's really something that you try to get out of the way emotionally prior to the game."Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. In a rookie class headlined by a historically touted crop of quarterbacks, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase entered the season playing catch-up in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year market. Now, the rest of the field is chasing him.The electric wideout is the new favorite to win the award (+380) after torching the Pittsburgh Steelers for two touchdowns a week ago. With that performance, Chase ranks second in the NFL in receiving touchdowns (four) and sixth in yards per target (13.8) while leading all rookie receivers in yards (220) and first downs (eight), helping Cincinnati to a surprising 2-1 record through three weeks. He's setting records along the way, too. Chase is the 10th player in the Super Bowl era with a touchdown catch in each of his first three career games, and the first to take all of them 30-plus yards. He's also the youngest player (21) in NFL history with four receiving scores through his first three contests, breaking a record previously set by Randy Moss. How's that for elite company? The same can't be said for his competition, which might be Chase's biggest advantage in this market.Preseason favorite Trevor Lawrence has seven interceptions and two fumbles thus far, becoming just the fifth quarterback since the merger with multiple interceptions in each of his first three games. Zach Wilson has also thrown an NFL-worst seven picks and has more losses (three) than touchdowns (two). Justin Fields has been a downright disaster through six-plus quarters and Trey Lance has seen the field for all of seven snaps during his team's 2-1 start. The biggest threat is Mac Jones, the fifth quarterback taken in April but the only one with more than 225 passing yards per game. Even his resume comes with concern: he's thrown more interceptions (three) than touchdowns (two) and simply doesn't have the weaponry nor the rushing ability to put up gaudy numbers as a rookie. This is setting up as a year for a skill-position player to win this award, and Chase is the clear front-runner among that group. There's a case to be made for Najee Harris - who's essentially the Steelers' entire offense right now - or even Rondale Moore, who's been a sparkplug for the Arizona Cardinals' dynamic passing attack. But neither has the talent, opportunity, and production of Chase, who's running away with this award after just three weeks. And if he keeps up this pace, nobody will be able to catch him - on the field or in this market.PLAYERODDSJa'Marr Chase+380Mac Jones+450Trey Lance+750Trevor Lawrence+900Najee Harris+1000DeVonta Smith+1600Rondale Moore+1700Jaylen Waddle+2000Kyle Pitts+2000Zach Wilson+2000Elijah Mitchell+2500Javonte Williams+2500Trey Sermon+2500Davis Mills+6000Elijah Moore+6000Pat Freiermuth+6000Amon-Ra St. Brown+10000Anthony Schwartz+10000Jamie Newman+10000Kadarius Toney+10000Michael Carter+10000Terrace Marshall Jr.+10000Penei Sewell+10000Rashawn Slater+10000C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. The Detroit Lions released linebacker Jamie Collins on Tuesday, the team announced.Detroit began fielding trade calls for the former Pro Bowl defender last week, but the team wasn't able to finalize a deal. With trade talks ongoing, Collins was held out of last week's practices and didn't play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.Collins, who led the Lions with 101 tackles in 2020, amassed 10 tackles and one quarterback hit while starting Detroit's first two games this season. The 31-year-old can still provide depth for a relatively low price to any front seven looking for a defender with plenty of NFL experience. The Southern Miss product will make $8.8 million from the Lions this year, according to ESPN's Field Yates.Collins, a former second-round pick, started his career with the New England Patriots, where he enjoyed two different stints (2013-16, 2019), and he also played for the Cleveland Browns (2016-18).Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. We kept our winning ways alive with another 2-1 week on NFL total plays, and we're 7-4 on the season heading into Week 4:Texans @ Bills (-16.5, 48), 1 p.m. ETIs this Bills offense a must-bet every week now? After a lousy showing in Week 1, Buffalo has scored a combined 78 points through two weeks against the Dolphins and Washington - which each ranked in the top five in points allowed per drive in 2020 and profiled as elite units coming into this season. The key has been pass protection. The Steelers got to Josh Allen in Week 1, sacking him three times and forcing two fumbles in one of his worst performances in years. Miami and Washington both thrive on high pressure rates, yet Allen was sacked just once in those two games combined. The Texans rarely blitz and are tied for the fifth-fewest pressures (20) through three weeks, which means the Bills could pass this total on their own.Games like this historically play out as over affairs, too. Since 1994, there have been 16 contests with a total of 48 and a favorite of at least 15.5 points. Those games went 14-2 to the over, with seven teams scoring 40 points or more on their own. When the margin is this lopsided because of an elite offense on one side, play the over.Pick: Over 48Panthers @ Cowboys (-5, 50.5), 1 p.m.This ought to be the last time a Panthers game features a total above 50 this season because this team has the ideal profile of an under cash cow.Carolina allowed a combined 30 points through three games and has surrendered an NFL-best 191 yards per contest. The results are surprising - and perhaps a bit inflated by weak competition - but this is still a unit loaded with former first-round picks and breakout stars. On the other side, the Panthers' offense looked listless without star back Christian McCaffrey, and they'll struggle without him against an improved Cowboys front. Don't be swayed by Dallas' scoring explosion on Monday night; both of these offenses will meet their match in this one.Pick: Under 50.5Colts @ Dolphins (-1.5, 43), 1 p.m.Will Carson Wentz play in this game? And, perhaps more importantly, should he? The Colts quarterback played last week on two sprained ankles, and it showed. His completion percentage (51.4%) was the fifth-worst of his career, and it marked only the second game in his career with at least 37 attempts and fewer than 200 yards. He also finished without a rushing attempt for only the second time in 71 starts, which is perhaps the biggest indication that Wentz isn't right. The Dolphins' defense - which leads the NFL in quarterback hits (19) and ranks second in blitzes (49) - will surely test that limited mobility behind Indianapolis' depleted O-line.It's not like Miami will take this total over with its offense, either. The Fins have scored the third-fewest points in the league (15 per game), and Jacoby Brissett showed last week why he's a longtime veteran backup - for better and for worse. Defense will win this game, one way or the other.Pick: Under 43C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. We took a buffet approach to last week's picks and nailed all our top selections while hopefully successfully convincing you to avoid the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lost to the rival Cincinnati Bengals. Now I'm not going to sit here and pat myself on the back considering all the big favorites won, but I'll give you fair warning that this week won't be as straightforward - unless you play it safe with the Buffalo Bills.AWAYHOMEPICK (CR)TexansBills (-16.5)BUF (10)JaguarsBengals (-7.5)CIN (8)SteelersPackers (-6.5)GB (6)ChiefsEagles (+6.5)KC (5)PanthersCowboys (-5)DAL (5)TitansJets (+7.5)TEN (4)GiantsSaints (-8)NO (4)CardinalsRams (-6)LAR (3)BuccaneersPatriots (+6.5)TB (3)RaidersChargers (-3.5)LAC (2)BrownsVikings (+2)MIN (1)ColtsDolphins (-1.5)MIA (1)LionsBears (-3)CHI (1)WashingtonAtlanta (+1.5)WFT (1)Seahawks49ers (-3)SEA (1)RavensBroncos (-1.5)BAL (1)Pick: Buffalo BillsEvery week there are a few picks I'm usually deciding between, diving deeper into the research to make sure I take the right one. That's far from the case this week, as the Bills are the undisputed top option on the board. If you're in several pools, or have at least a few entries in the same one, the Bengals could be worth one entry just to mix things up and go the contrarian route. Urban Meyer's Jaguars showed a pulse last week, but I have no faith in the coach's ability to prepare his team for a road game on a short week. But it's tough to look away from the Bills here, and I wouldn't blame you for loading up.I had Buffalo on upset watch against Washington because apparently, I know nothing at all. The upset was never on the cards. The Bills scored early and often while playing suffocating defense en route to a 43-21 win - a score that somehow flattered Washington. This Bills defense is stifling, and while Taylor Heinicke isn't very good, he's a better option than Texans starter Davis Mills. Mills wasn't terrible in his first career start but really struggled to move the offense. Outside of a lone touchdown drive in the two-minute drill, Houston punted on six of its eight drives while turning the ball over on downs on their final drive. The Texans managed just 3.9 yards per play - only the Bears fared worse in Week 3.Buffalo ranks third in yards per play allowed on defense, fourth in points per play, second in opponent completion percentage, fourth in red zone touchdown percentage, and fourth in takeaways per game. Mills should do well to get Houston to double digits in this contest. There will be no issues racking up the points for a Bills offense that looked back to its 2020 form in Week 3, with Josh Allen solving whatever problems plagued him. Houston's allowed two 300-yard passers already, and to worse quarterbacks in Sam Darnold and Trevor Lawrence. The only reason Baker Mayfield didn't get there was because the Browns ran it at will. However, Mayfield completed 19 of 21 passes. The Bills are the biggest favorite of the season thus far, and for good reason. They're the week's only truly safe pick, much more so than the teams listed below, and I'll tell you exactly why.Avoid: Tennessee Titans Quinn Harris / Getty Images Sport / GettyWe've seen very little from the Jets to inspire confidence in an upset, but to their credit, they've faced by far the hardest schedule of opponent defenses. This week they get a Titans defense that ranks near the bottom of the league in points per play (29th) and yards per play (26th) and isn't generating a ton of pressure. We'll see an improved version of Zach Wilson at home here, while the Jets also showed great improvement defending the run last week. I'm not saying it's happening, but I need to at least see Wilson face a bad defense first before I'm willing to bet against it.Avoid: New Orleans Saints Sarah Stier / Getty Images Sport / GettyThis is a game I'm staying far away from. Jameis Winston's struggles as a favorite are well-documented, while he's excelled as an underdog. The same is true of Daniel Jones, who's also been a vastly better quarterback away from New York. He's just 4-11 at home with a 14:16 touchdown-to-interception ratio. That ratio improves to 23:6 on the road, while his QB rating jumps from 77.2 to 93.1. Saquon Barkley is also getting back to himself, and while the Giants could be thin at wide receiver here, I still have no confidence in this struggling Saints offense.Avoid: Los Angeles Rams Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyThe Cardinals managed to sleepwalk their way through a win over the Jaguars and still covered the spread. This offense has a strong claim as the NFL's best, and they're catching the Rams in something of a letdown spot over last week's win versus the Super Bowl champions. A healthy Kyler Murray is enough to keep the Cardinals in every game, but when you factor in the weapons he's been armed with and an opportunistic defense behind him, this team boasts a ton of upset potential.Avoid: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Maddie Meyer / Getty Images Sport / GettyIt's possible the Bucs' beatdown last week was the product of looking ahead to this game for Tom Brady, or them just not matching up well with the Rams. But the same can be said of the Patriots last week, and you know Bill Belichick's had this game circled on the calendar since April. This is his Super Bowl, and I don't feel great about being on the other side of a Belichick masterclass.Alex Moretto is theScore's supervising editor of sports betting. The Indianapolis Colts and running back Marlon Mack have agreed to mutually seek a trade, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Mack is fully healthy after suffering a torn Achilles last season, Pelissero notes. The Colts opted to hold the 25-year-old out against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines have received the majority of the snaps in the Colts' backfield this season, with Mack carrying the ball just five times for 16 yards.Indianapolis signed the 2017 fourth-round pick to a one-year contract worth $2 million in March. He's spent all five seasons of his career with the Colts. The South Florida alum appeared in 14 games during the 2019 campaign, rushing for 1,091 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 4.4 yards per carry. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be getting some much-needed help at cornerback.Veteran corner Richard Sherman is heading to Tampa Bay to visit with the team, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport report. The three-time All-Pro and former Super Bowl champion is a sought-after free agent, especially for teams with trouble in the secondary like the Bucs.Tampa has averaged 29 points against per game and owns the league's worst pass defense, giving up 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns through the air. Starting corner Sean Murphy-Bunting dislocated his elbow in the season opener and Jamel Dean suffered a knee injury Sunday.Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has been recruiting Sherman to aid the team's defense, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The Buccaneers dropped to 2-1 after a loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.Sherman, 33, was named a Pro Bowler as recently as 2019, but he was limited to five games in 2020 due to a calf injury.Sherman was arrested in July for attempting to force his way into his in-laws' residence. He was initially arrested for burglary domestic violence, which was later downgraded to a misdemeanor of criminal trespass. He also faces several other misdemeanor charges. The 10-year veteran spent the past three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers after starring with the Seattle Seahawks for his first seven years.Sherman was in talks with the 49ers and Seahawks this offseason about a potential return, and he was also rumored to have drawn interest from the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. After a wild week in which the top two Super Bowl favorites both lost, the top of the oddsboard remains mostly unchanged from the beginning of the season. Yet a few teams made their case as dark-horse contenders, while others fell out of the race following an uninspiring start. Here are the current Super Bowl odds at theScore Bet and a few teams whose fate changed in oddsmakers' minds after Week 3:TEAMODDSKansas City Chiefs+500Tampa Bay Buccaneers+600Los Angeles Rams+900Buffalo Bills+1000Green Bay Packers+1200Baltimore Ravens+1300Cleveland Browns+1300San Francisco 49ers+1300Tennessee Titans+2400Los Angeles Chargers+2600Seattle Seahawks+2700Denver Broncos+2800Arizona Cardinals+3000Dallas Cowboys+3000New Orleans Saints+3000Minnesota Vikings+3700Las Vegas Raiders+4000New England Patriots+5000Carolina Panthers+5500Indianapolis Colts+5500Miami Dolphins+5500Washington Football Team+6000Philadelphia Eagles+7000Pittsburgh Steelers+7000Chicago Bears+10000Cincinnati Bengals+12000Atlanta Falcons+15000New York Giants+28000Detroit Lions+50000Houston Texans+50000Jacksonville Jaguars+50000New York Jets+50000Trending upGreen Bay Packers (+1200)The Packers opened the season at 12-1, so perhaps this is less of a team "trending up" and more of a return to what many expected entering the year. Still, after a worrying Week 1 loss to the Saints and a late surge against the struggling Lions, Green Bay fell to eighth in the Super Bowl market with 16-1 odds a week ago. That changed with Sunday's win over the 49ers, who settled just behind the Packers in this week's revised board. Things should get easier from here on for Aaron Rodgers and Co., who face three teams with losing records over the next four weeks.Los Angeles Chargers (+2600)How about a win over the Super Bowl favorites to boost your title stock? The Chargers entered this week in a pivotal spot after blowing last week's loss to the Cowboys in the final seconds - and they nearly blew this one, too, surrendering 17 unanswered points across the second and third quarters.Instead, Justin Herbert rallied his side to a game-winning touchdown with 32 seconds left, moving the Chargers' odds from 40-1 to 26-1 and potentially exorcising their late-game demons along the way.Minnesota Vikings (+3700)The Vikings could easily be 3-0 after botching winnable games through the first two weeks. They didn't let up in Week 3, blanking the Seahawks in the second half of a 30-17 win that wasn't as close as the final score suggests. Is it enough to believe in Minnesota again? This group entered the year as a 40-1 title long shot before slipping to 60-1 a week ago, so this price suggests that we haven't learned much about this team after an inconsistent three weeks. We may not get clarity until November when the Vikings face the Ravens, Chargers, Packers, and 49ers in consecutive weeks.Trending downNew England Patriots (+5000)Is Mac Jones ready to lead this team on a Super Bowl run? That's the question hanging over Patriots futures bettors after the rookie quarterback recorded three interceptions against the Saints, which dropped this team's title price from 30-1 to 50-1.New England's defense also regressed after two strong weeks to open the year, and it'll face its toughest test of the season on Sunday against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. This team's odds will likely be on the move after that contest - one way or the other.Pittsburgh Steelers (+7000)It might be time for Ben Roethlisberger to finally hang up the cleats. The Steelers quarterback threw for 318 yards and a touchdown on a whopping 58 attempts but tossed two bad interceptions to Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson, swinging Sunday's 24-10 loss to Pittsburgh's division rival.Oddsmakers are finally throwing in the towel, moving this group from 40-1 to 70-1 - the single-biggest move of the week among teams shorter than 100-1. The schedule doesn't let up for the Steelers, who are already battling a rash of injuries to key stars.Chicago Bears (+10000)So much for the Justin Fields experiment turning the Bears' season around. Chicago's first-round pick was even worse than his predecessor, finishing Sunday's blowout loss to the Browns with six completions for 68 yards. Cleveland also sacked Fields nine times. The Bears' odds tumbled from 60-1 to 100-1 as a result, and an 0-3 hole in the NFC North looks nearly insurmountable if neither Fields nor Andy Dalton can spark this offense. Upcoming matchups against the Lions and Raiders should help matters.C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. This week marks what will likely be the biggest spectacle in NFL regular-season history. After 20 years together and one year apart, Tom Brady returns to Foxborough on Sunday night to face the New England Patriots for the first time. The Patriots won six championships with Brady under center before allowing him to depart New England. After winning yet another Super Bowl last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady gets to stick his new gaudy ring in Bill Belichick's face.Tampa Bay's visit to Gillette Stadium will be appointment viewing after Brady and Belichick's much-publicized divorce in spring 2020, and the world at large is likely to tune in.It will be no surprise if the Buccaneers and Patriots' clash on Sunday Night Football surpasses these games as the most-watched prime-time regular-season telecast in NFL history:GameYearTotal viewersContextPatriots-Colts200733.8MUndefeated teamsCowboys-49ers199532.1MLast 2 Super Bowl winnersCowboys-Saints201031.9MThanksgivingCowboys-Raiders201331.7MThanksgivingCowboys-Dolphins201130.9MThanksgivingPatriots-Packers201430.9MWeek 13Cowboys-Washington201830.4MThanksgivingCowboys-Seahawks201430MWeek 6Patriots-Cowboys201929.4MWeek 12Patriots-Cowboys200729.1MUndefeated teamsThis year's Buccaneers-Dallas Cowboys season opener drew 24.8 million viewers. The Brady-Belichick Bowl figures to blow that total out of the water.Nothing grabs the attention of football fans quite like "America's Team," Thanksgiving football, and the Brady-Belichick Patriots. Sunday Night Football is a ratings bonanza in itself: It's been the United States' most-watched prime-time television series every year since 2011, and it often features the highest-rated non-playoff game each season. The NFL didn't keep ratings data before 1987, but the 2007 matchup between the Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts is generally regarded as the most-watched regular-season game in league history. At the time, that November contest pitting Brady against Peyton Manning in a battle of two unbeaten teams was labeled the biggest regular-season game ever.It drew 33.8 million viewers, and the Los Angeles Times reported it was seen by an average of 22.5% of homes across the 56 largest media markets in the U.S.Since then, the regular-season games that have come closest to drawing that many viewers are three Thanksgiving broadcasts featuring the Cowboys and a 2014 contest between Brady's Patriots and the Green Bay Packers that was billed as a potential Super Bowl preview (30.9 million). But none of those affairs - including the mountainous Brady-Manning matchup of '07 - featured the compelling storylines that this game will.Brady vs. Belichick IBrady and Belichick dominated the league together for 20 years, enjoying an unprecedented level of success. But as head coach and de facto general manager of the Patriots, Belichick has had a penchant for cutting ties with veteran stalwarts before they begin to decline. The Brady-Belichick Patriots won the Super Bowl as recently as 2018, but the team signed Brady to a one-year, $23-million contract ahead of the 2019 season - a deal that could void at the end of the campaign and allow him to hit free agency for the first time in his career. That season, he threw a pick-6 to cement a wild-card loss to the Tennessee Titans. It would be his last throw for the Patriots.Brady and Belichick couldn't agree to a new deal that spring. So, on March 16, Brady met with Patriots owner Robert Kraft for an emotional goodbye. Brady announced the next day that he would become a free agent, and he signed with the Buccaneers on March 20. Shortly thereafter, longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski came out of retirement to join him in Tampa. After winning the Super Bowl in his first year away from the "Patriot Way," Brady returns to Foxborough as Belichick's opponent. And a Week 4 slot means the huge matchup won't be dulled by injuries or a disappointing record on either side.Past vs. Future?Brady isn't only going head-to-head with the mastermind head coach; he's also taking on rookie passer Mac Jones, who's expected to succeed him as the Patriots' franchise quarterback.Jones has held his own through his first three pro starts. He's the only rookie quarterback to win a game this season, and his debut holds up well to Brady's first three NFL starts in 2001. Brady completed 57.4% of his passes for 618 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in two wins and a loss. Jones has a 67.5% completion percentage for 737 yards, two touchdowns, three picks, and a lone victory.Jones is coming off a three-interception performance and must now face the Buccaneers' vaunted front seven. The new-look Patriots will be heavy underdogs, and Jones may be hard-pressed to avoid a second consecutive loss - something the Brady-Belichick Patriots endured just 15 times (49-15, .765 winning percentage after a loss) during their dynastic run.Brady is also coming off a loss. In 19 games with the Buccaneers, he's suffered back-to-back defeats once.Making historyThere's one more storyline to make a momentous game that much more compelling: Brady is expected to break the NFL's all-time passing record Sunday night against the Patriots.Entering the season with 79,204 career passing yards, Brady needed 1,155 yards to break Drew Brees' record. After throwing the ball around the yard against the Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and Los Angeles Rams, the 44-year-old now needs just 68 yards to break the record at Gillette Stadium. There will likely be an emotional ceremony feting Brady ahead of Sunday's game, much like the one Manning received when he returned to Indianapolis as a member of the Denver Broncos. And, should he reach the mark, the NFL will pause the proceedings to once again celebrate Brady for breaking one of the league's most prestigious records. When Brees broke the passing record in 2018, the game was stopped, officials presented him with a document acknowledging the achievement, and the game ball was eventually handed over to Hall of Fame president David Baker. Sunday's celebration could be even bigger.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Tom Brady is a legend in New England, but the quarterback isn't anticipating a hero's welcome from Patriots fans in his first return to face Bill Belichick and Co. on Sunday."I wouldn't expect a homecoming. I think they're there to root for their team, and their team is the Patriots," Brady said on his "Let's Go" podcast with Jim Gray."And I think if they know anything about me, they're going to know that I'm going out there to try to win the football game," he added. "So I think they'll respect that about me. I certainly respect that they're there to pull for their team and that's the way sports goes."After the game comes and goes, things will happen as they will. I'm not sure how things unfold - other than how I want them to unfold, which is us to go play a great game of football and try to get a really tough win in a really great football environment."The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Patriots face off in prime time in Week 4, with the former coming off a loss to the Los Angeles Rams and the latter looking to rebound after falling to the New Orleans Saints.Brady not only will get the chance to beat his former team with the entire football world watching, but he'll almost certainly move ahead of Drew Brees for the No. 1 spot on the NFL's all-time passing list. The Bucs star sits 67 yards behind Brees' record mark of 80,358 yards.Belichick also commented on Brady's return, lauding his former player's impact while saying he believed the two had a good relationship. Brady's trainer and business partner, Alex Guerrero, made waves last week when he said Belichick never stopped treating the quarterback "like that 20-year-old kid that he drafted."The head coach also pushed back on the idea that New England didn't want to keep Brady, who left the AFC East club as a free agent last offseason after 20 seasons and six championships and went on to win his seventh career Super Bowl title.Though Brady isn't expecting an honorary return to New England, he does believe the two teams will put on a show."One thing I learned from the Patriots, Belichick would say, 'Listen, if you love football, then 8:30 on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium is the place to be.' So I'll be there," Brady said. "My teammates will be there. We'll be ready and prepared. It's going to be a great night of football."Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown is considered week-to-week after suffering a hamstring strain in Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Brown produced a career season in 2020, racking up 70 catches for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games. However, the third-year wideout has struggled to maintain that form, with just seven catches for 92 yards and one score this season. He failed to register a catch before exiting the game versus the Colts.Brown admitted it has "been a rough couple of weeks" in an Instagram post Monday, but vowed to turn his season around. If the 24-year-old is forced to miss time, Julio Jones will lead the Titans' passing attack. Meanwhile, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Chester Rogers, who both caught touchdowns in Week 3, are likely set for expanded roles.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd said it was clear the Pittsburgh Steelers let up near the end of the Bengals' convincing 24-10 win over their rivals."The last plays of the game for them, they gave up," Boyd said, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. "You could see it. They had three drops in a row."The Steelers appeared uninspired while attempting to trim the late deficit, turning the ball over on downs twice during the final minutes. Najee Harris and Chase Claypool dropped all three of Ben Roethlisberger's final passes during the club's last drive. And during the previous possession, Roethlisberger opted to throw a short pass to Harris despite facing a fourth-and-10 deep in Bengals territory, which resulted in a one-yard loss.Boyd believes the Steelers seemingly waving the white flag gives more confidence to a young and emerging Bengals squad, letting the team "know how good we are.""They portrayed to the whole nation on TV what they were about and how they gave up," he said. "So, we got to take advantage."The victory pushed the Bengals into a three-way tie for the AFC North lead at 2-1, while the Steelers sunk to 1-2 following their second straight loss. Pittsburgh has now lost seven of its last nine games dating back to last season.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Sunday saw things tighten in the ratings. Well, except for the Jets. The Buccaneers and Chiefs require a small downgrade following losses, while the Lions, and to a lesser extent the Jaguars, showed some life. The Garoppolo hate has gone too far49ers fans, and seemingly society as a whole, were calling for Trey Lance to get the keys to San Francisco's offense, presuming Jimmy Garoppolo is what's holding them back. However, these demands are willfully ignoring the play of other NFL rookie quarterbacks. All of Chicagoland and beyond was calling for Justin Fields last week. Well, be careful what you wish for. They were warned that Fields wasn't ready, and after six completions Sunday, we know it to be true. With Trevor Lawrence struggling, Mac Jones inconsistent, and Zach Wilson consistently overwhelmed, Lance running a complicated offensive scheme for more than a handful of plays seems like baseless hope at the moment. While certainly not perfect, Garoppolo can't be blamed for an offensive line that folded against a weakened Packers front seven, running backs that were uncertain of where the holes were, a leaky secondary, or, most important for their rating going forward, an overly conservative head coach. The Packers don't move from their rating of 65 thanks to Aaron Rodgers' connection with Davante Adams. The 49ers dip to 67/100 until the defense can find some chill and not commit crucial pass interference penalties.Meanwhile, against my better judgment after watching Fields versus the Bengals, I didn't adjust the Bears far enough downward ahead of his start in Cleveland. They drop into the mid-30s until Andy Dalton returns.Moral victories (not for the Jets)The Jaguars held some hope for a win, or at least a cover, against the Cardinals. While it was dashed in the fourth quarter, at least there was hope, so I can bump them up from the back end of their range from 30 to 33.I'll do the same with the Lions after they had the Ravens beat until the referees ignored a delay of game and Justin Tucker ignored what we thought we knew about science. Then there are the Jets. Yikes. The passing game cranked out 2.98 yards per attempt in Denver, along with two more interceptions to go with four last week. At least the schedule now gets easier for Wilson in October, after facing two quality defenses on the road. Still, the Jets' floor keeps falling, and I have to push them below 25 for the first time. At this point, the idea of New York getting anywhere near 50/100 is laughable. No runaway candidatesThe Buccaneers got worked over by the Rams for a second straight season. Is this just a bad matchup for Tampa Bay? Maybe, but the Bucs' three data points also include close games in the fourth quarter at home to the Cowboys and Falcons. There's no reason to panic, but they can't be given credit as an 80/100 team when they probably should be 0-3 against the spread.I'm dropping the Bucs to 76, in line with the Chiefs, who get a second downgrade after turning the ball over four times against the Chargers and failing to cover the spread yet again. That's 0-3 ATS on the season. The Chiefs continue to be the worst bet in sports but people don't seem to grasp that, which actually makes them the best betting opportunity. The Ravens kept a portion of survivor entries alive, but I'll maintain their 73 rating, while the Bills brushed aside the world's most overrated defense and jump into third in my ratings at 75 after a brief dip into the low 70s.The middle classThe Chargers' win showed there's potential to jump into a higher tier, but anyone who's seen the Bolts play in the last ... forever ... knows consistency is what they're searching for, so we'll hold off. We've already moved the Steelers down a fair amount, but the next stop is under 50 after another home loss to a mid-tier team in the Bengals. The Saints beat the Patriots somewhat comfortably, but it's not enough for us to make any drastic changes given the underwhelming box score. The same goes for the Seahawks and Vikings after their matchup.Lastly, we were right to not move the Dolphins' rating despite them turning to Jacoby Brissett and losing in overtime. Fins bettors were rewarded by cashing on the inflated line that had the Raiders favored by over a field goal.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Zach Wilson insisted Sunday that his confidence hasn't wavered despite failing to get the New York Jets in the end zone for a second consecutive week."It's tough, but it's making us stronger," the rookie quarterback said after the Jets were blanked 26-0 by the Denver Broncos. "I feel like it's making me stronger. This is hard. I didn't experience this in college. And the crazy thing is, I knew it was going to be like this."Wilson committed his sixth and seventh interceptions of the year and threw for only 160 yards versus the Broncos, marking his lowest output in three contests. He tossed four picks a week ago versus the New England Patriots and threw his only two touchdown passes during the season opener against the Carolina Panthers.Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wilson had his best week of practice in Week 3, but it didn't matter against the Broncos. In addition to the poor passing display, Wilson took five sacks and absorbed several other hits."He's got to learn - this is the NFL, you've got to get the ball out," said offensive lineman Greg Van Roten. "You can't hold on to it and try to make a play and throw it deep downfield. And we've got to protect him better, it starts with us up front."The Jets, who have been outscored 51-6 over their last two games, will look for their first victory in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton is considered week-to-week after missing Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns with a knee injury, head coach Matt Nagy announced Monday, according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.Dalton, who began the 2021 season as Chicago's starter, suffered a bone bruise against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Nagy has made it clear the veteran passer will return to the starting role once he's healthy again.Justin Fields replaced Dalton versus the Browns, but the rookie signal-caller struggled in his first NFL start, tossing just 68 yards on 6-for-20 passing while being sacked nine times.Fields also sustained a hand injury late in Sunday's contest. The first-round pick said postgame his hand was fine, and X-rays on Monday came back negative. It remains unclear who will be under center for the 1-2 Bears in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions, and Nagy added Monday that Nick Foles could start."They're all three under consideration right now," Nagy said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "We know where Nick's at health-wise, but we just want to keep an eye on Justin and Andy."Foles, who posted a 2-7 record as a starter for Chicago last year, dropped on the team's quarterback depth chart after it added Dalton and Fields in the offseason.Nagy's attempt to fix its struggling offense - which currently ranks 31st in scoring - could go beyond the quarterback position."Everything is on the table," said Nagy, who added he may consider giving up play-calling duties, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.Nagy became Chicago's play-caller prior to the regular season after previously handing the title to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor midway through the 2020 campaign.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was released from hospital Monday after he felt ill at the end of the team's Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the club announced Monday, according to The Athletic's Nate Taylor.Reid is expected to return to work later Monday or Tuesday morning. The 63-year-old was treated for dehydration, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano."Head coach Andy Reid felt ill at the conclusion of the game," the Chiefs said in a statement Sunday night. "He was evaluated by our medical staff in the locker room, and a precaution, was transported to the University of Kansas Health System for further evaluation. Coach is doing well, currently resting and in stable condition."Reid coached the duration of the Chiefs' 30-24 loss but conceded media postgame duties to special teams coordinator Dave Toub."He just wasn't feeling well after the game," said Toub, according to Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star. "He did talk to the team, and it was a good talk. Pretty much, 'You have to quit the turnovers.'"

The Carolina Panthers traded for Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback CJ Henderson, the team announced Monday. The Panthers are sending tight end Dan Arnold and a third-round pick in exchange for the 2020 first-round cornerback and a fifth-rounder.The Jaguars spent a top-10 pick on Henderson in last year's draft but he fell out of favor under new head coach Urban Meyer. He was reportedly believed to be on the trading block during the offseason and was deemed inactive for Week 3 after dealing with an illness and groin injury.Meanwhile, the cornerback-needy Panthers fill a major hole with Henderson following the injury to 2021 top pick Jaycee Horn. The rookie corner is set for a lengthy absence after breaking his foot in last Thursday's contest against the Houston Texans. The acquisition of Arnold will give the Jaguars a solid tight end at the top of their depth chart. The 26-year-old has recorded seven receptions for 84 yards this season. Panthers rookie tight end Tommy Tremble is likely set to receive a bigger workload with Arnold's departure. The third-round pick impressed last Thursday, scoring his first career touchdown on a carry while also adding a 30-yard reception.Henderson has recorded one interception and six pass breakups over 10 career starts.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. One of the most anticipated games of the year takes place on Oct. 3 when Tom Brady returns to Foxborough, leading the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the New England Patriots. Not even 24 hours after Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick discussed the dynamics of Brady's departure and impending return.Belichick was asked when his mindset changed about Brady, after saying in the past there was no other quarterback he'd rather have."It never changed," Belichick said on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show," according to Hayden Bird of the Boston Globe."Tom and I had I feel like a good relationship and a lot of production obviously while we were together. I enjoyed coaching Tom. He was a great player for us."Together, Belichick and Brady led a Patriots dynasty that resulted in six Super Bowl wins. However, following the 2019 season, Brady left New England and signed with the Buccaneers in free agency.Questions have lingered about whether the Patriots - and Belichick, in particular - tried hard enough to keep their franchise quarterback."We weren't as good an option as Tampa," Belichick responded. "So I mean you'd have to ask him about all of that, but it wasn't a question of not wanting him. That's for sure."Brady returns to his old stomping grounds on Sunday Night Football.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Tre Flowers blamed the Seattle Seahawks' system for their defensive issues, which hit another level Sunday in their 30-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings."It's a schematic thing, I feel like," the cornerback said, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. "I've got my own questions to ask."Seattle allowed Kirk Cousins to shred its secondary to the tune of 323 yards and three touchdowns. Flowers said Seahawks defenders were confused about how to defend certain routes.Cousins' banner day came a week after Ryan Tannehill put up 347 yards on Seattle's secondary and led the Tennessee Titans back from a 15-point deficit. Carson Wentz threw for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Seahawks in the season opener.Head coach Pete Carroll said the team "threw everything" at the Vikings schematically Sunday. He admitted he'll consider potential changes to help spark the struggling secondary.Flowers indicated that a revision to his role could be the first step in restoring the pass defense."Sadly, y'all want me to be (Richard) Sherman," he said, per The Athletic's Gregg Bell. The 26-year-old asserted his confidence in the defense's ability to turn the tide, pointing to the number of games left on the schedule."Concerning? No, not all," he said. "It's a 17-game season. It's a long way. We are going to fix whatever it is and get back to work."Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. New York Giants owner John Mara heard the home crowd booing him Sunday during a halftime ceremony honoring Eli Manning."Of course I heard it," Mara said before the third quarter kicked off, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. "Listen, I would have booed, too. We're 0-2 and down at the half."The Giants wound up losing for the third time in as many weeks, falling 17-14 to the previously winless Atlanta Falcons. Mara's club entered the season with heightened expectations following a busy offseason.Giants fans gave tight end Evan Engram, who had two catches for 21 yards and a fumble in his season debut, the same treatment. Engram led NFL tight ends in drops last season and couldn't corral Daniel Jones' pass that was tipped before it reached him in the fourth quarter."I don't think that was deserved," Jones said of the frosty reaction Engram received. "There was one tipped ball and I could have thrown it better there at the end. I'm not sure I really understood that. He played hard all game."The Giants have started three of the last five seasons with a trifecta of losses.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. When the Eagles and Cowboys meet Monday, the winner will become the first NFC East team to have a record above .500 since Washington was 1-0 last campaign. It's been a long wait, but there's plenty at stake in this early season clash between rivals, with first place in the division up for grabs. Here's how we'll be betting Eagles-Cowboys:Under 51.5This total is one of the highest of the week, and while both offenses have shown flashes this year, I'm not sure I'm buying it. The Eagles and Cowboys combined for 31 points a week ago, and each held their opponents to 17 points with four combined interceptions and fumbles. Even their peak offensive showings in Week 1 would have combined for 51 points - a half-point short of Monday's total. Does that sound like a safe over pairing to you?I'm still skeptical of Jalen Hurts, who came back down to earth as a passer last week after his breakout Week 1 performance against a shoddy Falcons defense. Dallas' defense frustrated Justin Herbert in Week 2 and has the athleticism to contain Hurts as a rusher, while the Eagles' secondary has held up through two weeks and has historically played Dak Prescott well. We'll see points Monday, but this total is too high.- C Jackson CowartCowboys -3.5This essentially boils down to me trusting the Cowboys' offense a lot more than the Eagles'. Philadelphia beat up a terrible Falcons team in Week 1 but really couldn't capitalize against a 49ers squad who was gashed by the Lions last week. Hurts has had his moments, but I still don't trust this unit as a whole to manage the sort of efficiency it needs to keep pace with Dallas. The Cowboys put in a strong showing defensively against the Chargers - a win looking even better now than it did a week ago. The defense isn't the most talented, but there's a lot to like about how it's playing right now, and it won't have to be great to cover this number.Dallas is fully equipped to chip away and move the ball on this zone-heavy Eagles defense, either grinding out drives on the ground or picking apart the soft spots through the air. The Cowboys have averaged 435 yards of offense through two weeks and will do their thing again Monday night, pulling away from an Eagles team who's outperformed their talent so far.- Alex MorettoCowboys -3.5Gunslinger Andy Dalton. That's not a phrase you read very often. Dalton went off on the Eagles' defense last season to the tune of 377 yards and three touchdowns. His next best victory in 2020? It was 209 yards and two touchdowns against the Nick Mullens edition of the 49ers.Truthfully, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore shredded the Eagles' defense last season more so than Dalton did. It was particularly surprising given the offensive line injuries the Cowboys accumulated. Now Dallas' offensive line is considerably more healthy with Tyron Smith back protecting Prescott. Meanwhile, Philadelphia's defense has looked excellent through two weeks under new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, but Brandon Graham's season-ending injury is thinning out the defensive pass-rush rotation. In a game with a high total, I've got the Cowboys rated as 5.5-point favorites, so I'll lay the -3.5 Monday night.- Matt RussellCopyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker made history Sunday after nailing an NFL-record 66-yard field goal at the buzzer to beat the Detroit Lions, 19-17.Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh didn't have much to say right after the last-second win other than to remind everyone that Tucker is the greatest kicker of all time."Hey, he's the best kicker in history," Harbaugh said postgame, according to Ryan Mink of baltimoreravens.com. "For him to come through like that is just historic."Off his foot, my first thought was ... that's got a chance," the coach added. "It got a little supernatural push right there."Trailing by one point and with no timeouts left, the Ravens started their final drive with 1:04 remaining in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Lamar Jackson set up Tucker's game-winning heroics after converting a fourth-and-19 with a 36-yard completion to Sammy Watkins to place the ball at Detroit's 48-yard line.Tucker, who missed a 49-yard field-goal attempt in the first quarter Sunday, said after the contest that he came up short on 65-yard kicks during pregame warmups."Things like that just don't happen," Harbaugh said, according to reporter Sarah Ellison. "Sometimes the way God works is he makes it clear to us that there can be no other reason for things that happen."This is the second time Tucker handed the Lions a loss in Detroit with a game-winning 60-plus-yard field goal. He also did it during his sophomore NFL campaign in 2013."It's like déjà vu all over again. I love Detroit. I'm thinking about getting a place here," Tucker said. The four-time Pro Bowler is the only kicker in NFL history to record multiple go-ahead field goals of at least 60 yards in the final minute.Arizona Cardinals kicker Matt Prater previously held the record for longest field goal made after converting a 64-yard attempt for the Denver Broncos in 2013.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Houston Texans have been reluctant to trade quarterback Deshaun Watson for anything less than a king's ransom, but they may be coming around to the idea.Houston's stance on moving Watson has started to soften, reports Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.Watson, who requested a trade in January, has no intention of playing for the Texans again, Glazer reports.Teams have reached out to the Texans about the star signal-caller, but Houston has yet to earnestly entertain trade offers. The Texans have reportedly been asking for a six-piece package of players and draft picks, including three first-round selections. Watson is currently facing 22 lawsuits alleging sexual assault and inappropriate behavior. Ten women have also filed criminal complaints against him.The Miami Dolphins, who placed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on their injury report Saturday due to a rib injury, reportedly emerged as front-runners in trade discussions with the Texans prior to the beginning of the regular season.Watson, 25, has yet to play in 2021.
