Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Last week was about as straightforward as it gets in survivor pools, with 13 of 15 favorites winning - the Buffalo Bills (-1) and Chicago Bears (-3.5) being the only exceptions. You would've had to pull a pretty reckless move to be eliminated; the kind of brashness Ron Burgundy displayed when he jumped into the Kodiak bear pit at the San Diego Zoo.Safest pick: Buffalo BillsHere's a pick you won't regret. The Bills might be a plastic 5-2, but for our purposes, they fit the bill. Sean McDermott's team is coming off an ugly loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that should have many questioning the legitimacy of its record, but if there's one thing the Bills have done with implacable consistency, it's beat worse teams worse than them. All five of Buffalo's wins have come against teams that will be picking high in April's draft - the New York Jets, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans (pre-Ryan Tannehill), and Miami Dolphins. The 1-7 Washington Redskins would slot seamlessly into that list. The Bills' third-ranked defense is a nightmarish matchup for a Redskins offense that ranks 30th in the NFL in yards and points per game and has committed 14 turnovers. Washington head coach Bill Callahan still doesn't know who will start at quarterback this week after Case Keenum missed the second half of last week's contest against the Minnesota Vikings with a concussion.Washington's season has gotten progressively worse this season, with Keenum one of the main culprits. After throwing for five touchdowns and no interceptions in the first two weeks, he's posted four touchdowns and seven turnovers in five starts since. Now he's on the road against Buffalo's defense, which limited Tom Brady to 150 yards and an interception.Should Keenum be deemed unfit to play, Dwayne Haskins would fill in under center. My heart goes out to the Redskins and their fans if that's the case. Early returns suggest Haskins is absolutely not an NFL quarterback. He ran a simplified one-read offense at Ohio State and, surprise surprise, it has resulted in an inability to read defenses at the NFL level. He has four interceptions in 22 career pass attempts - a higher rate than Nathan Peterman. If you're feeling lucky: Philadelphia EaglesAfter beating those lowly Redskins in Week 3, the Chicago Bears have gone 1-3 and find themselves in crisis. Mitch Trubisky posted three touchdowns and an 80.6 completion percentage against Washington but has been an unmitigated disaster since. The offense is a trainwreck and their kicking issues, which appeared to be a thing of the past, have since resurfaced. It's not hyperbole to suggest Chicago's season hung in the balance this past weekend when Eddy Pineiro stepped up with a chance at a 41-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. A successful kick would have weathered the storm, pushed the Bears above .500, and kept them in the NFC playoff race.Pineiro missed because these are the Bears and water is wet. Now, this dejected Chicago team has to travel to Philadelphia for a game against a rejuvenated Eagles squad that was backed into a corner in Week 8 and came out swinging, salvaging its season and halting its tailspin with a signature win in Buffalo. These teams are heading in opposite directions, and it seems there's one way for this game to play out. Carson Wentz will lift the Eagles to 5-4, while Trubisky and the Bears slump to 3-5, effectively eliminating them from playoff contention.Avoid: Seattle SeahawksThe 6-2 Seattle Seahawks host the 2-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend, and on the surface, a straightforward Seattle victory seems to be in the cards. But how good are the Seahawks, really? They've underwhelmed in one-score victories over the Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns, and Atlanta Falcons. They've won by more than seven points just once this season - against the Arizona Cardinals. In their two losses, they were blown out by the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens. I'm not sold on this team, and you shouldn't be either. We'll learn a lot more about them over the second half of the season, and it starts this week against the Buccaneers.Tampa Bay has been as unpredictable a team as any over the past few seasons. This year alone, it lost at home to the Giants but beat the Carolina Panthers and Rams on the road. The Bucs visited New Orleans and went blow-for-blow against the Saints in a one-score loss - the same Saints who won handily in Seattle. They're the grab bag of NFL franchises.Much of that volatility stems from quarterback Jameis Winston, who has as many games with three interceptions as he does with three touchdowns. The only thing consistent about Winston is his inconsistency. At this point, the only conceivable explanation is that he visited the same spa as Paul Rudd and is splitting starts with his enhanced clone. The best option is to avoid this game altogether. Play with fire, and you might get burned.Week 9 safety rankingSafety rankings (SR) are out of 10 based on the author's picksAWAYHOME (SPREAD)WINNER (SR)WashingtonBuffalo (-10)BUF (9)ChicagoPhiladelphia (-5)PHI (8)San FranciscoArizona (+8)SF (7)TennesseeCarolina (-3.5)CAR (7)DetroitOakland (-2)OAK (5)DallasNY Giants (+7)DAL (5)NY JetsMiami (+4.5)NYJ (4)Tampa BaySeattle (-6)SEA (4)ClevelandDenver (+1.5)CLE (4)IndianapolisPittsburgh (+1)IND (3)Green BayLA Chargers (+3)GB (3)MinnesotaKansas City (N/A)MIN (1)HoustonJacksonville (+2.5)JAC (1)*New EnglandBaltimore (+4)NE (1)* Game played in LondonAlex Moretto is a sports betting writer for theScore. The Dallas Cowboys have been in touch with the New York Jets regarding a trade for safety Jamal Adams, who's indicated he's open to a move, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.New York is seeking more than a first-round pick for Adams after the Miami Dolphins landed a first-rounder for second-year safety Minkah Fitzpatrick earlier this season, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB.Dallas has been looking to upgrade the safety position, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones acknowledged to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. But the team isn't the only playoff contender contacting the Jets about Adams, according to FOX's Peter Schrager. The sixth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, Adams earned a Pro Bowl nod last year after notching 115 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one interception in his second NFL season.Nicknamed "The President," Adams has 31 tackles and one interception across seven games this year. He's appeared frustrated at times during the Jets' slow start to the campaign."We're 1-6, man," Adams said Sunday after the Jets lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. "I can't even count how many times. ... It's been three years, man. Frustrating. I just want to win. ... I don't come from losing."The 24-year-old is inching closer to the end of his rookie contract and figures to be in the market for a big-money extension at some point over the next two years.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Miami Dolphins are placing cornerback Xavien Howard on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury during Monday Night Football, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Howard didn't suffer a significant ACL or MCL injury, reports Rapoport, but the Dolphins are choosing to be cautious with their talented defender.Miami made Howard the league's highest-paid cornerback in terms of average annual value this offseason, signing him to a five-year, $76.5-million extension in May.The 26-year-old missed two games earlier this year with a knee ailment. Arguably the team's most talented defender, he intercepted one pass in five games this season after picking off seven in 2018.Currently sitting at 0-7, Miami remains the favorite to land the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New England Patriots are among several teams showing the most interest in Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, a source told The Athletic's Jeff Howe. However, it remains to be seen if the Bengals will lower their reportedly high price tag for Eifert in order to make a deal possible, Howe added.Eifert has put up 192 yards and a score on 23 grabs this season. For his career, the 29-year-old has caught 22 touchdowns in 51 games - including a career-high 13 in his Pro Bowl 2015 campaign - but he hasn't appeared in more than eight contests in any subsequent season due to injuries.New England has been looking for a reliable tight end since Rob Gronkowski's retirement after last season. Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo combined to catch nine passes and a touchdown through six games this year before being sidelined with injuries. New England also re-signed 38-year-old Ben Watson earlier in October, but the veteran produced just four total receptions across the last two weeks. The Patriots have also been tied to young Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard, although Tampa Bay is reportedly only willing to consider a substantial offer.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The Washington Redskins won't trade Trent Williams unless they receive a first-round draft pick or a package that includes a playmaker, reports ESPN's John Keim. The Cleveland Browns have been most heavily linked to Williams, who made seven consecutive Pro Bowls from 2012-18. But the Redskins are asking the Browns for marquee players such as cornerback Denzel Ward, which Cleveland won't consider, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. After refusing to move him for months, the Redskins reportedly opened themselves Monday to the idea of dealing Williams at the deadline. The disgruntled left tackle has held out all season after a summer squabble over the franchise's handling of a medical situation.Williams is signed through the 2020 season and will be 32 years old when his contract expires.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Cincinnati Bengals are benching quarterback Andy Dalton for rookie Ryan Finley, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Finley is reportedly expected to receive his first career start in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens following Cincinnati's Week 9 bye.Dalton has started all but eight games since the Bengals drafted him No. 35 overall in 2011. He's tied for the franchise lead in passing touchdowns and ranks second in career passing yards. The 32-year-old was never among the NFL's elite quarterbacks, but his on-field play slowly regressed in each of the last three seasons. He led Cincinnati to five straight playoff appearances from 2011-15 but failed to win a single playoff game.Dalton is completing 60% of his passes for nine touchdowns and eight interceptions across eight starts for the 0-8 Bengals this year.Finley, meanwhile, will likely be the team's starter for the rest of the season. Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy may not be done answering questions about his decision to kneel this past Sunday.Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro said Tuesday that he would have preferred to kick from a center spot rather than the left hash, according to 670 The Score's Chris Emma. The ball was in the latter spot for the 41-yard, potentially game-winning field goal Pineiro missed as time expired against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday."I'm a professional kicker. I got to adjust to it," he said.Nagy decided to take a knee on the left hash with 43 seconds left in order to run the clock down, rather than running a play and attempting to gain some yards to shorten Pineiro's field-goal attempt."What happens if you take a sack or there's a fumble?" Nagy told reporters postgame. "I'll just be brutally clear: zero thought of throwing the football, zero thought of running the football."On Monday, Nagy still didn't have any regrets."I would do it again a thousand times," Nagy said, according to the Chicago Tribune's Colleen Kane.Pineiro was 12-for-14 on field goals this season before the miss.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New York Jets are open to trading running back Le'Veon Bell before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline, sources told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. The 27-year-old is drawing interest, though New York isn't actively shopping him, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.Bell is just seven games into the four-year, $52.5-million contract he signed with the Jets in free agency this offseason. His deal includes $13.5 million guaranteed in 2020, a potential stumbling block for interested teams. The Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Eagles could all have some level of interest in acquiring Bell, suggests Mehta, who adds the price to do so is unclear.

The 2-6 Denver Broncos appear to be sellers ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. trade deadline, though the price they've set on veteran cornerback Chris Harris is too high for the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver7's Troy Renck reports. The Broncos have been asking for a second-round pick in exchange for Harris, but the Eagles are not willing to pay that price, according to Renck.Denver is reportedly not as motivated to deal the nine-year pro as it was wideout Emmanuel Sanders. The 30-year-old Harris, whose contract expires at the end of the season, said he wants to finish the campaign with the Broncos, Renck added.Harris has amassed 22 tackles, four passes defended, one pick, and one forced fumble through eight games this year. The Eagles have been connected to several cornerbacks, including Harris, in the lead-up to the trade deadline.Philadelphia was unwilling to meet the Jaguars' trade demands for Jalen Ramsey and is reportedly unlikely to pay the "incredibly high" price tag for Detroit Lions corner Darius Slay.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Based on the initial tests on his injured neck, Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco could be out for five-to-six weeks, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Flacco is unlikely to undergo surgery and his career is not in jeopardy, Rapoport added, but being placed on injured reserve remains a possibility.Broncos head coach Vic Fangio announced Monday that Flacco won't play in Week 9 due to a herniated disc in his neck, but said he would need more information before making a decision on the pivot's roster spot.Fourth-year quarterback Brandon Allen, a sixth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, will get his first career start Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Rookie second-rounder Drew Lock remains on injured reserve with a thumb injury.Since being acquired from the Baltimore Ravens this past offseason, the 34-year-old Flacco has completed 65% of his passes for just six touchdowns and five interceptions across eight starts for the 2-6 Broncos.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. A number of top-tier cornerbacks are expected to be available ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, but Darius Slay doesn't appear to be one of them. The Detroit Lions' asking price for the Pro Bowl defender remains "incredibly high," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, who added that it makes a deal unlikely. The Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to Slay in recent days as they attempt to bolster their secondary. However, Garafolo reported that since Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was unwilling to match the Jacksonville Jaguars' asking price for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, he's also unlikely to meet Detroit's demands.Last week, Slay voiced his displeasure with Detroit's trade of safety Quandre Diggs to the Seattle Seahawks while criticizing the NFL as a whole for its lack of loyalty to players. The two-time Pro Bowler added that he "wouldn't personally care" if he is also dealt before the deadline. The 28-year-old Slay has suited up for five contests in 2019, hauling in one interception. Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner was forced to the sidelines and taken to the locker room with a shoulder issue late in Monday night's win over the Miami Dolphins.Head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters after the game that Conner suffered an AC joint injury, and the runner was later seen with his right arm in a sling, according to NFL Network's Mike Giardi.Tomlin added that Conner will be evaluated on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Conner was enjoying his most productive game of the season before the fourth-quarter exit, taking 23 carries for 145 yards and one touchdown.Steelers backup running back Benny Snell, who was drafted in the fourth round this year, also left the prime-time contest with a knee injury. If Conner and Snell both miss time, Jaylen Samuels could be set for a major backfield role. Samuels appears to be nearing a return to action after undergoing a knee scope in early October. He was a full participant in practice throughout this week before ultimately being held out for a second consecutive game.Pittsburgh, now 3-4 after Monday's win, will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon in Week 9.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Find positional rankings, additional analysis, and subscribe to push notifications in the NFL Fantasy News section.Every Monday during the season, theScore's Justin Boone runs down the recommended waiver wire pickups.Ownership percentages are based on Yahoo leagues. FAAB bids are set off a $100 budget. Only players owned in less than 60 percent of leagues are considered.QuarterbacksStreeter Lecka / Getty Images Sport / GettyJimmy Garoppolo, Gardner Minshew, and Jacoby Brissett are around the 60% ownership mark and are the top streamers this week if available.Cam Newton, PanthersNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. TEN41%$9Kyle Allen has been named the Panthers' starter for at least one more week, which is a good thing for Newton and his fantasy owners. At this point, there's no reason to rush the 2015 MVP back, so the team should let him take all the time he needs to ensure we get a fully recovered Newton upon his return. Remember, he was a top-three fantasy quarterback before getting injured last season, so his ceiling is extremely high when healthy. Carolina's schedule also softens considerably starting in Week 11, including two matchups against the floundering Falcons down the stretch.Sam Darnold, JetsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat MIA23%$5Darnold has been horrible over the last two games while facing the Patriots and Jaguars - defenses that capitalized on the Jets' weak offensive line. Fortunately, his upcoming schedule features six straight matchups against bottom-tier pass defenses that lack strong pass rushes. Darnold can be used as a streamer against the Dolphins as long as his bruised left thumb doesn't cause problems, and then we'll reassess where he stands.Other options: Derek Carr vs. DET (26% owned), Mason Rudolph vs. IND (17% owned), Mitch Trubisky at PHI (25% owned), Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. NYJ (5% owned), Daniel Jones vs. DAL (23% owned), Ryan Tannehill at CAR (30% owned), Matt Moore vs. MIN (8% owned)Running backsJoe Sargent / Getty Images Sport / GettyDevin Singletary, Adrian Peterson, and Jamaal Williams are around the 60% ownership mark and should be owned in almost all leagues.Jaylen Samuels, SteelersNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. IND19%$49In a week that lacked a true top option on the waiver wire, a late-game shoulder injury to James Conner on Monday Night Football may turn Samuels into a major pickup worthy of a significant FAAB bid. After the contest, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Conner suffered an AC joint injury and more tests will take place Tuesday to determine the severity. This puts Conner's Week 9 availability in serious doubt and potentially could keep him sidelined for an extended stretch with injured reserve being a possibility. Samuels, who underwent a knee scope a few weeks ago, is close to returning and has proven in the past that he can produce as the team's lead back. With Benny Snell Jr. also leaving this week's game with a knee issue, Samuels might step into a full workload next Sunday, vaulting him into the conversation as an RB2 in fantasy. Even if Conner avoids a long-term ailment, this is the fourth time he's been forced from a recent game due to injury.Kenyan Drake, CardinalsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. SF60%$19Normally we put guys who are around 60% ownership in the paragraph above, but Drake is an exception following a trade to the Cardinals on Monday. Chase Edmonds will miss a few weeks for Arizona with a hamstring injury, and third-stringer D.J. Foster was placed on injured reserve. David Johnson's recovery timeline from back and ankle issues remains a mystery, though head coach Kliff Kingsbury is calling him day-to-day, and reports last week indicated Johnson will be sidelined for the team's Thursday night game in Week 9. Trading for Drake makes it seem like Edmonds and Johnson could be out longer than expected. For now, it appears Drake will step into the starting role in a high-volume offense, something fantasy managers have desperately wanted for a while. Unfortunately, the Cardinals' upcoming schedule features games against the 49ers, Bucs, and 49ers again - three daunting run defenses - before their Week 12 bye. Due to the uncertainty around the team's running back injuries and those tough matchups, Drake will be hard to trust as anything more than an RB3 with upside in fantasy lineups over the next few weeks.Mark Walton, DolphinsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. NYJ29%$14Drake's departure from Miami will lead to even more touches for Walton, who's been getting increased work in recent weeks. Prior to the trade, Walton received 26 touches over his previous two contests, turning them into 133 yards from scrimmage. He then saw 14 touches during a tough test against the Steelers on Monday night. The Jets, his Week 9 opponent, offer a favorable matchup, giving Walton an opportunity to return value. His fantasy playoff schedule is also intriguing, with the Jets, Giants, and Bengals slated for Weeks 14 to 16. The downside to picking him up is that you're rostering a running back on a team trying to lose its games. But volume is king, and Walton is locked in as the Dolphins' starter moving forward. He'll be a low-ceiling and low-floor RB3, with touchdown vulture Kalen Ballage (9% owned) playing a complementary role.Raheem Mostert, 49ersNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat ARI6%$5The 49ers' rushing attack has been dominant in 2019, ranking second in yards per game (181.1) and first in touchdowns (13) largely thanks to Tevin Coleman's four-score performance against the Panthers. Every year we target Kyle Shanahan's running backs, and this season that's led us to Coleman and Matt Breida. However, Breida's injury woes continued on Sunday, allowing Mostert to rack up 60 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Both Breida and Mostert are listed on the injury report heading into the 49ers' Thursday night clash against the Cardinals, so their practice participation will need to be monitored. But Mostert and even fourth-stringer Jeff Wilson Jr. should be owned in case their number is called to serve as Coleman's sidekick. San Francisco is favored by 8.5 points on the road against Arizona, and another run-heavy game script is possible during a blowout.Alexander Mattison, VikingsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat KC24%$5As you can tell by the bid amounts, there aren't many great options at running back this week. At this point in the season, you should be filling bench spots with high-upside backup running backs because they face a fast path to becoming fantasy difference-makers. Runners like Mattison, Tony Pollard, Jaylen Samuels, Gus Edwards, Ryquell Armstead, and Reggie Bonnafon are one injury away from being top-25 fantasy options, so load up as the bye weeks pass.Other options: Tony Pollard at NYG (13% owned), Jaylen Samuels vs. IND 18% owned), Derrius Guice expected to return Week 11 (29% owned), Darrell Henderson on Bye (27% owned), Malcolm Brown on Bye (15% owned), Rashaad Penny vs. TB (31% owned), Ronald Jones at SEA (46% owned), Tra Carson at OAK (0% owned), Peyton Barber at SEA (38% owned), Brian Hill on Bye (0% owned), Gus Edwards vs. NE (4% owned), Rex Burkhead at BAL (12% owned), Chris Thompson at BUF (28% owned), Ryquell Armstead vs. HOU (1% owned), Reggie Bonnafon vs. TEN (4% owned), Giovani Bernard on Bye (6% owned), Jordan Wilkins at PIT (1% owned), Nyheim Hines at PIT (12% owned), Wayne Gallman vs. DAL (12% owned), Ty Montgomery at MIA (2% owned), Boston Scott vs. CHI (0% owned), Justice Hill vs. NE (5% owned), DeAndre Washington vs. DET 1% owned), Jalen Richard vs. DET (3% owned)Wide receiversBoston Globe / Boston Globe / GettyRobby Anderson, Tyrell Williams, DK Metcalf, Kenny Stills, Christian Kirk, and DeSean Jackson are around the 60% ownership mark and should be owned in almost all leagues.Phillip Dorsett/N'Keal Harry, PatriotsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat BAL50%/12%$21/$7Though Dorsett hasn't posted a huge game since his 95 yards on four catches with two touchdowns in Week 1, his fantasy outlook is bright as the Patriots' top outside receiver now that Josh Gordon is on injured reserve and expected to be released. Over his last two games, Dorsett has been on the field for 90% of the Patriots' offensive snaps, catching six passes for 89 yards and a score. We'll be watching closely to see how New England plans to incorporate Mohamed Sanu, but Dorsett has already formed a connection with Tom Brady and should be a startable fantasy asset the rest of the way. Treat him as a WR3 against the Ravens.Meanwhile, Harry has been practicing the last couple of weeks and will be eligible to return to the lineup in Week 9. From a skill standpoint, he can provide a big-body presence on the outside that the team is lacking with Gordon out of the mix. The first-rounder is far from guaranteed a role in the offense though, making him a lottery-ticket stash who could take time to get up to speed.Preston Williams/DeVante Parker, DolphinsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. NYJ13%/27%$5/$5Williams and Parker have become regulars in this space, and they'll remain high-risk, high-reward fantasy streamers in Week 9 against the Jets. Over the last two weeks, Williams has recorded 10 catches for 124 yards, while Parker has tallied 11 grabs for 114 yards and a touchdown. Williams is the preferred starting option between the two, as the rookie's 27 receptions and 356 yards this season outpace Parker's 24 grabs and 343 yards. Consider them both WR4s with some weekly upside but very low floors.Jamison Crowder/Demaryius Thomas, JetsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat MIA50%/6%$5/$3Two variables are working in Crowder and Thomas' favor. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, and teammate Robby Anderson has long been identified as a player of interest who could be dealt. If that happens, Crowder and Thomas would see their targets rise. Even if Anderson stays, the Jets face the lowly Dolphins next Sunday, setting up all of New York's skill position players for success. The team's soft second-half schedule also includes games against the Giants, Redskins, and Bengals, providing more reason to consider a low-cost investment in the Jets' wideouts.Ted Ginn, SaintsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidon Bye7%$3Chasing Ginn requires a slightly longer view as he heads into his bye week. Drew Brees' return resulted in a 42-yard day for the veteran receiver, but his matchups after the week off should pique your interest, with two games against the Falcons and one against the Bucs over the Saints' next four contests. Atlanta and Tampa Bay rank in the top five in fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. The Saints' passing attack is back to full strength with Brees under center, restoring Ginn's big-play ceiling.Other options: Chris Conley vs. HOU (3% owned), Anthony Miller at PHI (11% owned), Auden Tate on Bye (28% owned), Josh Reynolds on Bye (0% owned), Diontae Johnson vs. IND (12% owned), Darius Slayton vs. DAL (4% owned), AJ Brown at CAR (25% owned), Danny Amendola at OAK (9% owned), Cole Beasley vs. WAS (24% owned), Allen Lazard at LAC (15% owned), Mecole Hardman vs. MIN (33% owned), Russell Gage on Bye (0% owned), Hunter Renfrow vs. DET (1% owned), Keelan Cole vs. HOU (0% owned), Taylor Gabriel at PHI (5% owned), Alex Erickson on Bye (7% owned), DeAndre Carter at JAX (1% owned)Tight endsAl Bello / Getty Images Sport / GettyTJ Hockenson and Vance McDonald are around the 60% ownership mark and are the top streamers this week, if available.Chris Herndon, JetsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat MIA28%$9A suspension and then a hamstring injury delayed Herndon's 2019 debut, which has been incredibly frustrating for fantasy managers. But don't lose sight of his value, as his return coincides with the easiest part of the Jets' schedule, and he's one of the only tight ends still available in most leagues who offer weekly top-10 upside. Ryan Griffin, Herndon's replacement, posted a 4-66-2 stat line last week while playing over 95% of the Jets' offensive snaps.Darren Fells, TexansNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat JAX18%$3Fells has notched 49 receiving yards and/or a touchdown in four of his last six contests, and he's clearly enjoying catching passes from Deshaun Watson, one of the league's most dangerous quarterbacks. It's hard to trust Fells as an every-week starter, but if you're one of the unfortunate souls who doesn't own a top-seven or -eight tight end, Fells offers just as much upside as anyone else on the board at that point.Other options: Jonnu Smith at CAR (19% owned), Cameron Brate at SEA (14% owned), Dallas Goedert vs. CHI (20% owned), Jack Doyle at PIT (15% owned), Kyle Rudolph at KC (37% owned), Irv Smith Jr. at KC (2% owned), Noah Fant vs. CLE (13% owned), Mike Gesicki vs. NYJ (3% owned), Tyler Eifert on Bye (9% owned)Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Los Angeles Chargers relieved offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt of his duties on Monday, the team announced.Moving forward, quarterbacks coach Shane Steichen will call the plays for the Chargers, though head coach Anthony Lynn will be heavily involved, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Chargers, a team that entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, have stumbled to a 3-5 start and sit in third place in the AFC West."This is not an easy decision and definitely not one that I take lightly," said Lynn. "You win as a team, and you lose as a team. It’s never about just one person."At the end of the day, however, I simply felt a change was needed at this time. I want to thank Ken for his years of service to the Chargers organization and wish him nothing but the best moving forward."Despite boasting talents like veteran quarterback Philip Rivers and wide receiver Keenan Allen, the Chargers' offense has struggled to live up to its potential.Through eight weeks, the club ranks 23rd in scoring (19.6 points per game) and 28th in rushing (69.5 yards per game). Bad news, NFL. Bill Belichick isn't planning to retire anytime soon. The New England Patriots head coach, 67, who previously said he didn't plan to coach into his 70s, left the door open for himself to continue his career beyond that mark Monday."When I said it (in the 2009 documentary 'A Football Life: Bill Belichick'), maybe I didn't know what 70 felt like," Belichick said during his appearance on WEEI's "Ordway, Merloni, and Fauria" radio show. "So, not really sure if that's an accurate statement today or not. I don't really know. At the time, I didn't feel that way. Now that I'm closer to that age, I don't know."Belichick became just the third coach in NFL history to record 300 career wins with New England's 27-13 victory Sunday over the Cleveland Browns. The six-time Super Bowl winner could conceivably catch Don Shula (347 wins) and George Halas (324) if he coaches into his early 70s.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said Monday he expects quarterback Matt Ryan to return after the team's bye this week, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.In Week 8, Ryan's streak of 154 consecutive starts ended after an ankle injury.Quinn added that Ryan likely would've been ready to go this week if Atlanta had a game. The Falcons fell to 1-7 after a 27-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Backup Matt Schaub threw for 460 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the NFC South team's sixth straight defeat.Despite Atlanta's struggles this season, Ryan has been among the most productive quarterbacks in the league. Entering Week 8, the 34-year-old was second in the league in passing yards (2,170), third in completion percentage (70.9%), and tied for the most passing touchdowns (15).Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Washington Redskins are attempting to shop cornerback Josh Norman ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.Norman is owed nearly $6 million in remaining salary while his thigh and hand injuries have kept him out of practice, which could be an obstacle for potential suitors, added Pelissero. The 1-7 Redskins appear ready to recoup value in the draft for some of their veteran players. In addition to Norman, Washington is reportedly ready to trade left tackle Trent Williams after months of insisting the holdout wouldn't be moved.Norman has one season remaining on the five-year, $75-million contract he signed with the Redskins as a free agent in 2016.The 31-year-old has fallen far from his 2015 first-team All-Pro form. He's ranked 149th out of 182 cornerbacks by Pro Football Focus, and has given up five touchdown passes this season.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy gave quarterback Mitchell Trubisky a vote of confidence on Monday after the young pivot struggled again with late-game turnovers during Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.Nagy said he won't bench Trubisky in favor of backup Chase Daniel despite the 3-4 Bears falling to the bottom of the NFC North."Yes, there is (enough time left for Mitch to improve)," Nagy said, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. "And we understand that we didn't get the win, but we felt there was definitely an improvement. We're going to make sure that we keep our noses to the grind, we stay positive, we stay really positive because that's who we are."Trubisky, the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft, has failed to make the third-year leap many expected. While others in his draft class like Patrick Mahomes (10th overall) and Deshaun Watson (12th overall) are producing MVP-caliber seasons through eight weeks, the Bears' signal-caller ranks toward the bottom in most quarterback statistics.Out of 33 qualifying quarterbacks, Trubisky sits 32nd in yards per attempt (5.6) and 27th in passer rating (81.4) The 25-year-old's five touchdown passes are also the fewest among passers who have started six-plus games.Trubisky threw for 3,222 yards with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2018.Daniel took over for an injured Trubisky in Weeks 4 and 5. Chicago went 1-1 and scored 37 points with the backup leading the offense. The veteran threw three touchdown passes with two interceptions while averaging 7.1 yards per attempt.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could make tight end O.J. Howard available before the trade deadline if they receive a substantial offer, sources told ESPN's Jenna Laine.Howard has reportedly been the source of multiple inquiries, but the Buccaneers have been unwilling to part ways with their former first-round pick. The team reportedly shut down a recent trade approach from the New England Patriots, telling the reigning Super Bowl champions that Howard was not for sale.Howard has seen a diminished role under first-year head coach Bruce Arians. He has just 13 receptions for 176 yards and no touchdowns in 2019, and he's on pace to set career lows in all three categories.Last year, Howard emerged as one of the top young tight ends in the game. The Jacksonville Jaguars currently have no plans to trade veteran quarterback Nick Foles ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.Foles, who signed a four-year, $88-million contract with the Jaguars in March, lasted only 10 plays on opening day before suffering a broken clavicle that sent him to the injured reserve.Sixth-round rookie Gardner Minshew came on in relief and took the league by storm. From his off-field antics to his on-field magic, the team and fans have been engrossed in Minshew Mania ever since. The Washington State product has led the team to a surprising 4-4 start. The Miami Dolphins have traded running back Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a conditional selection in 2020, the team announced Monday.Miami is receiving a sixth-round pick, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter, who adds the pick could become a fifth-rounder.Arizona already used its own 2020 fifth-round selection in this year's supplemental draft, so if the pick does become a fifth-rounder, it appears the Dolphins would reacquire the one they sent to the Cardinals for quarterback Josh Rosen in April, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Drake never asked to be dealt but his representatives didn't return the Dolphins' calls when they tried to re-sign the 25-year-old to a contract extension last month, the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports. The move is the latest in Miami's 2019 talent migration, following two blockbuster trades in September that led to safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil departing for greener pastures.Second-year pro Mark Walton, who had already supplanted Drake as the starting running back in Miami, will now have a more concrete role as the team's feature back. Kalen Ballage will also receive more playing time. The Cardinals, meanwhile, fill what recently became a gaping hole in their offense.David Johnson, the team's pricey bell-cow back, has been dealing with various ailments over the past few weeks. Backup Chase Edmonds, who filled in admirably during Week 7, sustained a hamstring injury in Week 8.Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters postgame that there is "definitely concern" that Edmonds will join Johnson on the shelf for the Cardinals' Week 9 contest Thursday, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.Drake could see significant work in the backfield against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers if both backs are ruled out, Schefter adds. The Alabama product isn't enjoying a strong season thus far, posting just 174 yards on the ground and no touchdowns on 3.7 yards per carry through six games. The New York Jets traded defensive end Leonard Williams to the New York Giants for a third-round pick in 2020 and a fifth-rounder in 2021, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.The fifth-round selection will evolve into a fourth-round pick if Williams inks an extension with the Giants before the start of the league year in March, Schefter reports.Williams was previously rumored to be on the trade block, with the Jets seemingly uninterested in bringing the up-and-down lineman back at the end of his expiring contract.Williams was drafted sixth overall in 2015 out of USC. He had seven sacks in 2016 but equaled that total over the next two years combined. He had no sacks in seven outings with the Jets this season while his production in the running game also declined.Though the Giants have slipped out of the NFC playoff race, they could see Williams as a long-term fit. The defensive line has been a major concern for the G-Men since they traded the likes of Damon Harrison Sr. last year and Olivier Vernon in the offseason. The Jets are believed to be in sell mode following their 1-6 start, and they could also jettison standout receiver Robby Anderson before the Tuesday trade deadline.Leonard, who's still only 25 years old, will get to face the Jets as a member of the Giants on Nov. 10.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Sunday Rundown recaps the most important developments from the day's action and examines the significance of those events moving forward.Bears deserved to loseThe Bears, who've experienced more kicking-related heartbreak than any other NFL team in recent seasons, decided a 41-yard field-goal attempt on a windy afternoon in Chicago gave them their best shot to win.Trailing the Chargers by a point, the Bears found themselves with a first down on L.A.'s 21-yard line, 43 seconds on the clock, and a timeout in their pocket. As fans in the stadium screamed for the team to grind out a few more yards with David Montgomery, who emerged as a workhorse with 27 carries for 135 yards on the day, the Bears decided to take a knee and let time run down. The decision not to try and make things easier for first-year kicker Eddy Pineiro, who missed a 33-yard attempt earlier in the afternoon, was baffling. It was borderline coaching malpractice.Pineiro's 41-yard attempt curled left - he said after the game that it got caught in the wind - as time, and effectively Chicago's playoff hopes, expired."What happens if you take a sack or there's a fumble?" Matt Nagy told reporters postgame. If he truly has less trust in his offense's ability to gain a few yards and not fumble the ball away than he does in his kicker, the Bears might as well wave the white flag on their season.A solution for ChicagoWe've thoroughly covered Mitchell Trubisky's shortcomings around these parts in recent weeks, so here's a potential solution: The Bears should trade for Marcus Mariota. The Titans have moved on to Ryan Tannehill and would surely love to recoup an asset for Mariota before he departs in free agency next spring. Mariota's college head coach, Mark Helfrich, is now employed as the Bears' offensive coordinator, so it likely wouldn't take long for Mariota to get up to speed on the team's scheme. (With four different offensive coordinators and five different play-callers in his five NFL seasons, Mariota's surely gotten the hang of picking up a new playbook.)The Bears are built to win now on defense. They've surrounded Trubisky with weapons, but he's not getting them the ball. The time to try something else isn't next season, it's now.Patriots' offense might be an issueIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyThe Patriots are a perfect 8-0 at the halfway point of the season, putting yet another Super Bowl title well within reach. Ho-hum for the dynasty that just refuses to fall apart. But this is a much different team than the last few that have ended the season raising the Lombardi Trophy. In some ways, it's a positive difference. The defense, as we've seen on a weekly basis, is historically elite. It's truly incredible to watch. The offense, on the other hand, is more of a negative difference.Nobody will want to talk about this with the Patriots having steamrolled through the first two months of their schedule, and maybe the defense is so good that it won't end up mattering in the playoffs, but you're lying to yourself if you're entirely comfortable with what we've seen offensively.New England is averaging 7.3 yards per pass attempt (19th), 3.2 yards per rush (T-last), and 5.2 yards per play overall (T23rd) over a not-so-small eight-game sample against a cupcake schedule. We're not about to tell you Tom Brady is washed up, but he's certainly no longer among the league's top three or four quarterbacks. The loss of longtime No. 1 target Rob Gronkowski is having the expected crushing impact on the passing game, and a wild lack of continuity at receiver, outside of Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett, certainly isn't helping. The offensive line isn't the same, due in part to injuries, and Sony Michel isn't exactly creating plays for himself in the running game to make up for the Patriots' blocking deficiencies.Again, this may not end up mattering. Football is a team game, and New England's defense is certainly doing its part to carry the load. But before the Patriots finally head into a challenging stretch of their schedule, and eventually the playoffs, it's at least worth noting that the offense is nothing like it used to be.Eagles change everything with a winThe Eagles entered this week in desperation mode. Having stumbled to a 3-4 record, a road win over the red-hot Bills was an absolute necessity to save a season that had quickly begun to slip away. Not only did Philly get the job done, keeping its hopes alive in the NFC East, but getting back to .500 in such convincing fashion could significantly change the course of the team's season.Parting with future assets at Tuesday's trade deadline would've been a tough sell had the Eagles put together another stinker and dropped to 3-5. It sounds silly to suggest one win could change a club's outlook so dramatically, but it's much easier to justify making short-term moves at 4-4 coming off an impressive win. That's how small the margin of error is in the NFL.Howie Roseman has long been one of the NFL's best, and most aggressive, general managers. Knowing that Philadelphia's secondary issues remain, and will continue to be exposed against half-competent passing attacks, he could take the deadline as an opportunity to get creative. The Eagles should trade for Broncos cornerback Chris Harris, and they shouldn't stop there. They should get themselves two defensive backs and really go for this thing. The rest of the roster still has "contender" written all over it.Andy Reid appreciation weekThearon W. Henderson / Getty Images Sport / GettyThe absence of Patrick Mahomes saw the Chiefs enter Sunday night's game at Arrowhead as a fairly sizeable underdog. Despite the home-field advantage, nobody really gave Kansas City much of a chance to beat Green Bay without its star quarterback. It's a fair assumption, really. The Packers are one of the best teams in the league, led by a Hall of Fame quarterback, and Matt Moore has been a career backup for a reason. But the Andy Reid factor changes things. The creativity of Reid's offensive system continued to shine through with Moore forced into action against a strong Packers defense, as the unit was constantly making plays to keep pace with Aaron Rodgers throughout the night. Moore finished the game 24-for-36 for 267 yards and two touchdowns. It didn't lead to a win in the end, but that's not really the point. Kansas City hanging with Green Bay despite the absence of Mahomes shows just how strong of a foundation Reid has established with his offense. It's almost unfair that such a phenomenal system has one of the most talented passers in league history to light up opposing defenses. Reid and Mahomes are going to do some great, great things for a long time.Jets descending to new lowsThis was supposed to be a year of rebirth for the Jets. They hired a new head coach, overhauled the front office, spent a fortune in free agency, and even redesigned their uniforms.Instead, the 2019 edition of Gang Green somehow looks worse than a 2018 unit that finished 4-12 and got the head coach and GM fired.Adam Gase has been a disaster and is already covered in the looming stench of one-and-done. Prized free-agent addition Le'Veon Bell, whom Gase reportedly didn't even want, has one touchdown on the season and just five catches over his last three games combined - less than his per-game average over five seasons with the Steelers. Most worryingly, sophomore quarterback Sam Darnold, now over a bout of mono, is simply not developing. As the Jaguars broke out costumes and songs to troll Darnold for his recent "seeing ghosts" admission, he indeed looked like he doesn't trust what's in front of his eyes. The former No. 3 overall pick was thoroughly outplayed by sixth-round rookie Gardner Minshew, throwing three interceptions and getting sacked eight times in a loss to Jacksonville. At least the new uniforms are nice. How long does Kitchens last?Jason Miller / Getty Images Sport / GettyAfter adding some superstar talent to an already impressive roster that really began to emerge late in 2018, the Browns were the darlings of the offseason. Who would've thought this is where they'd be at the end of October? Now 2-5 following Sunday's loss to the Patriots, a game where Cleveland turned the ball over on three consecutive snaps, it's fair to call this team the disappointment of the league. And it's not particularly close. When an organization takes such a monumental step back in its once-promising development, despite having such an impressive roster in place, it's only fair that the finger is pointed at the coaching staff. Handing the keys to Freddie Kitchens was a questionable decision at the time, and it looks even worse now. Cleveland is the latest in a long line of teams to find out that success as a coordinator doesn't necessarily translate to a lead job.The question now, as frustration continues to mount, is whether Kitchens even makes it through this season. It may seem rash to pull the plug on a coach so quickly, but the Browns can't afford to waste this much talent.Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks would be the obvious interim candidate in the event the Browns choose to make an in-season change, and a Kitchens departure would finally give offensive play-calling duties to coordinator Todd Monken. Such changes wouldn't provide a guaranteed fix, but it's worth a shot and becomes an increasingly appealing option for as long as this disaster continues.Bring back CamRemember all the debates about the Panthers sticking with Kyle Allen? Yeah, forget that.We detailed a few weeks back why it seemed possible that Allen could end up keeping the job even after Cam Newton makes his return from injury. But make no mistake, that wasn't to say we were on board with the idea. Not then, and certainly not now.The Panthers have yet to be faced with that decision, as Newton is still working his way back from a foot injury, but this has to be the former MVP's job when he's ready. A disastrous performance from Allen in a 51-13 loss to the 49ers showed exactly why the Panthers can't afford to bench the face of their franchise for a young, and still very much unproven, passer.Carolina's winning streak with Allen under center was extremely impressive. He was playing better than anyone could've reasonably expected and, naturally, he got a ton of credit for leading the way. But that run of success was always about much more than the quarterback. This is a good team on both sides of the ball and, as much as people will rush to declare that the new thing is the better thing, the ceiling is unquestionably higher with a healthy Newton running the show. Here's hoping Ron Rivera and the rest of his staff see it that way, too.Foles should be shoppedIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyNick Foles' tenure as the Jaguars' starting passer lasted all of 11 snaps. Perhaps that should be all we ever see of Foles in teal.Gardner Minshew has been a revelation since taking over after Foles' broken clavicle in Week 1. Following a college career that started at Northwest Mississippi Community College and ended with gaudy numbers in Washington State's pass-friendly scheme, few draftniks saw Minshew as a special prospect or more than a career backup.Instead, the mustachioed Minshew has emerged not just as a folk hero, but as a legitimately dangerous NFL arm. The Jaguars are a surprising .500 club and Minshew's 1,976 yards passing, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions are the reasons for it. A playoff berth is probably unrealistic for this team, but the future is suddenly bright.Foles will be cleared to return from injured reserve next month, but will he have a job to return to? If not, might the Jaguars look to trade him?The $88-million contract Foles signed in March will make him difficult to move. He'll earn nearly $31 million this year and almost $16 million next year, but with few guarantees beyond 2020, the financial risk for any team looking to acquire the former Super Bowl MVP is palatable. If the Jaguars are willing to eat the money they've already paid Foles this year, they could perhaps flip him for a Day 2 draft pick and use that asset to build around Minshew. And which team could trade for Foles? How about the Broncos, who can't be happy with the returns on their Joe Flacco experiment.Rookie Bosa making case for DPOYThe incomparable Lawrence Taylor is the only player in NFL history to win Defensive Player of the Year as a rookie. Nick Bosa might be next. The second overall pick has been the best player on the undefeated 49ers and he just keeps getting better. The younger brother of the Chargers' Joey recorded three sacks Sunday, bringing his total on the year to seven.Bosa also embarrassed Kyle Allen on a second-half interception, bursting through the line to snatch a lobbed swing pass and take it back almost 50 yards.Bosa was criticized by some for sitting out most of his junior season at Ohio State to ensure he entered the NFL at peak health. Perhaps he should serve as an example for future top prospects.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell short against the Tennessee Titans 27-23 in Week 8 after Jameis Winston threw his second interception during a late-game comeback attempt.Coming off a five-interception performance in Week 7, Winston turned the ball over three times against the Titans. However, head coach Bruce Arians backed his quarterback after Tampa Bay's third straight loss."Jameis did not throw one damn interception that was his fault," Arians said, according to Rick Stroud of Tampa Bay Times. Matt Nagy said Sunday he doesn't regret cutting off the Chicago Bears' final drive against the Los Angeles Chargers to attempt an unsuccessful 41-yard field goal. The Bears were marching down the field, trailing 17-16 with 43 seconds left, when Nagy called a quarterback kneel. He let the clock trickle down to four seconds before taking his final timeout and sending in Eddy Pineiro, who booted the try wide of the uprights."What happens if you take a sack or there's a fumble?" Nagy told reporters postgame. "I'll just be brutally clear: zero thought of throwing the football, zero thought of running the football."Chicago rushed for 162 yards versus the Chargers, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. It was one of the Bears' most productive games of the season on the ground, but Nagy had no desire to run again after Mitchell Trubisky's 11-yard scramble set up the 41-yard field-goal attempt."When they know you're running the football, you lose three or four yards," the second-year head coach said.Instead, he settled for a minimal loss on the quarterback kneel, and the Bears fell to 3-4 after the missed field goal."We've lost three in a row, we've got to rally the troops," Nagy said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. The networks just can't quit the Pittsburgh Steelers in prime time. For the fourth time in eight weeks, Mike Tomlin's rag-tag group will take center stage, this time as massive favorites over the hapless Miami Dolphins. The last time these two played was in the 2017 wild-card round, when the Steelers won big to snap a three-game skid against the spread vs. Miami. Can these Dolphins - with virtually no resemblance of that playoff team - flip the script nearly three years later? Here's everything you need to know about Monday's prime-time matchup from a betting perspective.Line movementThe Steelers opened as 15-point favorites - their biggest spread since facing the winless Dolphins in 2007 - before bettors pushed the line down to -14.5 as of Saturday. The total sits at 43, a half-point higher than it opened.Betting trendsPittsburgh's season is teetering on the brink due to severe attrition at quarterback, but bettors have still profited with four straight covers. Still, two of those came by half a point, and only one as a favorite.Monday's chalk spot is a rare one for the 2-4 Steelers. In the last 20 years, teams with a losing record are 8-15 ATS as double-digit favorites, and only one was giving more points. Tomlin is also 8-13 ATS giving more than 10 points and 3-6 ATS giving 14 or more. After failing to cover their first two games by a combined 66 points, the Dolphins have been respectable to the number over their last four. They lost two games ATS by a combined six points and covered each of their last two, nearly beating the Bills outright last week before a late push from Buffalo at home.Even with more competitive results, the Dolphins' offense is still floundering under rotating starters Josh Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick, helping Miami to four unders in the last five games. The Steelers have also gone under in all three prime-time games this year. The X-factorFor as bad as the Dolphins have been this year, the Steelers' offense has been nearly as bad, ranking 22nd in DVOA and 29th in Pro Football Focus grades. Miami's secondary held its last two opponents below 200 yards passing and 62% completion percentage, and it could have similar success against Mason Rudolph in his first game back from a nasty concussion suffered in Week 5.In PFF's passing grades, Rudolph ranks 36th out of 42 quarterbacks with at least 30 dropbacks - even worse than backup Devlin Hodges (33th) and opposing starter Fitzpatrick (22nd). The Steelers are 3-1 ATS but 1-3 straight up when Rudolph takes the field.PickThe Dolphins are historically bad - there's no way around it. But they're also historically undervalued in this spot against a Steelers team that has just two wins on the season. Miami seems to be turning a corner as a competent football team, which should be enough to keep it close Monday. If you're squeamish on betting the Fins, the under looks tasty, too. Pittsburgh's elite pass rush and run defense is masking its so-so secondary this year, and the Dolphins' unit is improving ahead of what could be a get-right spot vs. a reeling Rudolph.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco questioned his team's late-game play-calling after Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Broncos' defense kept the Colts' offense in check for most of the contest. But with the AFC West club leading 13-12 entering the fourth quarter, its offense relied heavily on runs and short passes to try and secure the win. After the game, Flacco said he believes the conservative approach ultimately led to the loss."I just look at it like, we're now a 2-6 football team and we're afraid to go for it in a two-minute drill, you know?" said Flacco, according to Ryan Koenigsberg of DNVR Broncos. "Like, who cares if you give the ball back to the guys with 1:40 left? They obviously got the field goal anyway. Once again, we're a 2-6 football team and it just feels like we're kind of afraid to lose the game."It's third-and-5 at the end of the game, who cares if they have a timeout there at the end or not? Getting in field-goal range isn't that tough. You're just putting your defense in these bad situations and I just felt like, 'What do we have to lose, why can't we be aggressive in some of these situations?' That's kind of how I feel about a lot of the game today."

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold said he was "seeing ghosts" against the New England Patriots, and his opponents in Week 8, the Jacksonville Jaguars, won't let him live it down. After a multi-week absence due to mono, Darnold looked solid in the Jets' Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys but collapsed against the Patriots last week. The sophomore pivot managed just 86 yards on 11-for-32 passing with four interceptions and a fumble during the 33-0 loss.Darnold was heard on the sideline saying he was "seeing ghosts" during the defeat, and the Jaguars have taken note. First, defensive back D.J. Hayden took a jab at the Jets signal-caller.

The Miami Dolphins announced Sunday that running back Kenyan Drake won't travel with the team for Monday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.Drake had previously been placed on the trade block, and talks for a move are progressing, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans are apparently among the teams interested in acquiring Drake. The 25-year-old has struggled this season, running for 174 yards on 47 carries (3.7 yards per attempt) and zero touchdowns. However, Drake had more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage along with nine total touchdowns in 2018.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Teams around the league have contacted the Houston Texans to inquire about the availability of star receiver DeAndre Hopkins ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports. However, Hopkins is reportedly not on the trade block, and it would take "an awful lot" to acquire him, added Glazer. The 4-3 Texans - who sit in second in the AFC South - remain firmly in the playoff hunt, so it would be shocking if the team opted to trade away Deshaun Watson's top target.Hopkins set career highs in catches (115) and yards (1,572) in 2018. He also caught 11 touchdowns. But the 27-year-old's production has declined somewhat this season. Through seven games, Hopkins has racked up 49 grabs for 508 yards and three scores.Houston has been highly active in the trade market this season. The AFC South club parted with its first-round pick in the next two drafts for left tackle Laremy Tunsil, acquired running back Duke Johnson for a fourth-rounder, and most recently picked up cornerback Gareon Conley for a third. The Texans fired general manager Brian Gaine in June. Front-office responsibilities have since been shared between head coach Bill O'Brien and senior vice president of football administration Chris Olsen, who was given the interim GM title.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Cleveland Browns have lost four of their first six games after an offseason of splashy moves, and the team will look to make more deals, specifically to improve at offensive tackle, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Offensive-line play has been an issue for the Browns this season, as they have allowed Baker Mayfield to be sacked 16 times so far.Starting left tackle Greg Robinson, who was acquired this past summer, has been benched for Week 8's tilt versus the undefeated New England Patriots. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by Justin McCray, whose natural position is guard.Sources believe that Robinson's move to the bench foreshadows a move the Browns will make to get an upgrade at left tackle, added Schefter. The team has been connected to disgruntled Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams, as well as Giants tackle Nate Solder ahead of the deadline.Williams will not be traded this season, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Arizona Cardinals have rejected multiple significant offers for cornerback Patrick Peterson, including one that would include a first-round pick, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.Trade rumors followed Peterson last season, but after retracting his request to be dealt, he said in the summer that he hoped to be a "Cardinal for life."The three-time All-Pro was later suspended for six games to start the 2019 season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. The 29-year-old Peterson has spent his entire eight-year career with Arizona. Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark is considered week-to-week with the neck injury that will keep him out of Sunday night's Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Chiefs are apparently hopeful the injury won't sideline their prized offseason acquisition long term. Clark has gotten off to a slow start with his new team, managing just three sacks over seven games while playing through the neck ailment. The veteran, who was acquired from the Seattle Seahawks before the draft, inked a five-year, $105-million contract with Kansas City. Clark posted a career-high 14 sacks in 16 games during 2018.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The Los Angeles Rams might not be done shuffling their defensive backfield.Los Angeles could be open to moving cornerback Aqib Talib ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter, who adds the veteran is a "prime candidate to be traded" in order to free up money to extend other players, potentially including new Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey.Talib, a 12-year veteran, turned down the option to be traded last week, Schefter reports. The Rams dealt Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens and acquired Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 15. Ramsey is in the fourth year of his rookie deal, with just a fifth-year option for 2020 remaining.L.A. traded for Talib and Peters in 2018, and the duo helped the Rams reach Super Bowl LIII. Talib is in the final year of his contract, which pays him $8 million for the 2019 campaign. The Rams placed Talib on injured reserve Oct. 14 with fractured ribs. He's eligible to return later this season.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will return to action against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8 after missing five games with a thumb injury, sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini and Ed Werder.Brees was given a six-to-eight week recovery timetable after undergoing surgery for the injury he suffered in Week 2. However, the 40-year-old was confident he could return before that."As far as the timetable for getting back, though, they say six-to-eight weeks. I think I can beat that," Brees told WWL Radio in September.Despite his return, the NFL's all-time leading passer said his thumb is not 100%, and that doctors say the injury will need a full three months to heal completely, according to Russini, who added that the quarterback could opt to wear a splint on his hand.Additionally, Brees has said he needs to play this week to get himself back up to speed. The decision was made alongside the medical staff with head coach Sean Payton's blessing, Russini reported. The NFL's highest-paid backup, Teddy Bridgewater, led the Saints to a 5-0 record in Brees' absence, most recently securing a 36-25 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 7 with All-Pro running back Alvin Kamara also sidelined. As the primary quarterback, Bridgewater threw for 1,370 passing yards to go along with nine touchdowns and two picks while completing 67.7% of his throws for a sparkling passer rating of 100.9.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. With Kerryon Johnson heading to injured reserve, it's possible the Lions will need to rely even more on Stafford's arm moving forward. That shouldn't be a problem against the Giants, who are a defense to target in fantasy. Excluding two matchups against rookie passers, New York is giving up 336 passing yards per contest, surrendering multiple touchdown passes to each of the five veteran quarterbacks it's faced in 2019. Stafford is a strong QB1 play this week.Boone's projection: 312 passing yards, 3 passing TDsOther QBs to start

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already been ruled out for Week 8 after dislocating his right kneecap in Week 7, and while he has a chance to play next week, he's most likely to return in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.Mahomes avoided a major injury because of naturally loose ligaments in his knee, sources told Rapoport, who added that no ligaments were torn and only one was compromised.Mahomes returned to practice just days after the injury, which occurred on Oct. 17, and he was only ruled out for Kansas City's Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers on Friday after participating in practice. The 5-2 Chiefs will have backup Matt Moore under center against the Packers.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Alvin Kamara's ankle injury will keep him out of the New Orleans Saints' lineup for a second straight game as the star running back won't play Sunday versus the Arizona Cardinals, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Kamara missed last week's win in Chicago against the Bears but is expected to be back for the Nov. 10 contest against the Atlanta Falcons following the team's Week 9 bye.Latavius Murray will likely see plenty of action in Kamara's absence, as the veteran rusher piled up 119 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears. While Kamara won't be in the lineup Sunday, quarterback Drew Brees is expected to play after missing five games with a thumb injury.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Atlanta Falcons have ruled out quarterback Matt Ryan from Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury, the Falcons announced, according to Will McFadden of the team's official site. With Ryan sidelined, Matt Schaub will get the start. It will be the 38-year-old's first start since he played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2015.The Falcons moved quarterback Danny Etling to the active roster to back up Schaub.Ryan's injury ends a streak of 154 consecutive starts for the 2016 NFL MVP.The 1-6 Falcons have been one of the biggest disappointments in the league this season. However, Ryan has arguably rarely been the issue for Atlanta, which has struggled mightily on defense. The quarterback is second in the league in passing yards (2,170), third in completion percentage (70.9%), and is tied for the most passing touchdowns (15) with Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. The NFL season enters Week 8 with some big matchups on the slate. Where is the sharp money going? Which lines are moving the most? Here, we'll track the games drawing the most interest from bettors. We talked to Jay Rood, Bet.Works' chief risk officer and theScore Bet's head trader, to see how sharps and public bettors are playing the Week 8 schedule. All lines courtesy of theScore Bet.Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills (-1, 43)The Eagles entered the year as Super Bowl contenders, but a 3-4 record straight-up and 2-5 against the spread has them in danger of missing the playoffs altogether. Still, bettors are gobbling up Philly as a road underdog at Buffalo, pushing the line to +1 as of Saturday."This is the biggest lopsided game for us right now," Rood said. "We have a tremendous amount of money on Philadelphia."The money is five-to-one in favor of the Eagles but the ticket count is three-to-one on the Bills. Rood says it isn't wiseguys who are betting big but rather a couple of individuals with "pretty good-sized bets" on the visitors. Still, he expects the public to come in heavy on Buffalo before kickoff."It could easily go back to +1.5 or even +2.5 depending on how much public Bills money comes through," Rood said. "We're sort of the lone wolf on the low side here."Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers (-6, 41.5)The 49ers are one of two undefeated teams remaining through eight weeks, and bettors are buying it. San Francisco is 4-2 ATS this year behind a dominant defense, which will face the red-hot Kyle Allen and the visiting Panthers, who haven't lost ATS since Sept. 12 and had the bye week to prepare. However, that extra time off isn't swaying the public, who are betting the 49ers at a three-to-one clip in parlay activity and two-to-one in straight bets - pushing the line from -5.5 to -6 as of Saturday."It looks like this game is gonna be heavy toward the Niners with the early indicator from the parlays coming in," Rood said.Green Bay Packers (-4, 48) at Kansas City ChiefsThis line has bounced all over with speculation that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may suit up a week after dislocating his kneecap. With Mahomes ruled out Sunday, the line has settled at Packers -4, meaning Andy Reid will be a home underdog for the first time in almost five years.Even without Mahomes, sharps played the Chiefs at +4.5 and +4 to drive the line down to +3.5 before it moved back up to +4."Pretty good two-way (action) on this game even with Mahomes out," Rood said. "If it had been announced that Mahomes was playing, we would have moved the game down to at least a pick, for sure, and more public money would have come in on KC."The Packers are 5-2 ATS this year and will face backup quarterback Matt Moore, who's 0-5-1 ATS in his last six games with at least 20 passing attempts.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore.
