Watch: Bears-Lions halftime show lasts mere seconds before power outage
Country duo Brothers Osborne got through approximately one second of their Thanksgiving Day halftime act during the Detroit Lions-Chicago Bears game before a power outage killed it.The musicians stood in silence for several moments in front of a crowd who waited in confusion below the stage.
Holy Blough! Lions' 3rd-string QB sets Twitter ablaze with strong 1st half
Thanksgiving is a time for food, family, and David Blough. The Detroit Lions' third-string quarterback, making his first career NFL start, shredded the Chicago Bears' defense to the tune of 179 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.He hit Kenny Golladay for a 75-yard touchdown on his first-ever pass attempt and followed that up with an 8-yard toss to Marvin Jones on his next drive.Blough became just the fourth quarterback to throw for at least 130 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter of a game this season, and the football world loved his surprising start.
Lions' Blough to make NFL debut in Week 13 vs. Bears
Detroit Lions undrafted rookie quarterback David Blough will start in his team's Week 13 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Thursday, the team announced Wednesday.Jeff Driskel, who started three games filling in for the injured Matthew Stafford, battled a hamstring injury this week and was listed as questionable prior to the contest. He will serve as Detroit's backup pivot behind Blough.Driskel was given the starting duties following Week 9 after Stafford suffered back injuries. The fourth-year signal-caller has gone 0-3 since Week 10, tossing four touchdowns and four interceptions.Blough went undrafted in 2019 after playing four seasons at Purdue. He signed with the Cleveland Browns in March and appeared in four games during the preseason. The Lions acquired the 24-year-old one week before the regular season in a trade that included the teams swapping conditional draft picks.Thursday's game will mark the first campaign since 2010 where three different quarterbacks have started for Detroit. Stafford, Shaun Hill, and Drew Stanton all started at least one game for the Lions nine seasons ago.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Report: Falcons optimistic Jones will play vs. Saints
The Atlanta Falcons are optimistic that wide receiver Julio Jones will suit up Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints in Week 13, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Jones is battling an AC joint sprain that limited him during last week's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Falcons head coach Dan Quinn previously stated that Jones would be a game-time decision for Thursday's divisional matchup and that his availability would depend on whether his ailing shoulder can take contact.Jones will likely test his shoulder prior to the game to make sure it's strong enough, Rapoport added. The star wideout caught three passes for 79 yards in his first matchup with the Saints this season during Week 10.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Hilton out vs. Titans after injury setback at practice
Indianapolis Colts wideout T.Y. Hilton won't play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans after suffering a setback to his injured calf, general manager Chris Ballard told reporters.Ballard described Hilton's status as week-to-week.Hilton returned from a three-week injury absence in Week 12, where he made three catches for 18 yards against the Houston Texans but dropped a few key third-down targets. After the game, he took the blame for the Colts' loss."I let the team down," Hilton said. "Totally on me."Both the Colts and Titans are one game back of the Texans in the AFC South title race.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Barkley denies playing hurt: 'The great ones figure it out'
Despite accumulating just 88 rushing yards over his last three games, Saquon Barkley insisted he isn't being hampered by the ankle injury that cost him three games earlier this year."Did I look hurt?" Barkley posed to reporters, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. "No. So let's stop making an excuse that I'm hurt. I'm not hurt. Let's stop making an excuse I'm not 100%. Nobody is 100%."The New York Giants running back rushed for 59 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Chicago Bears following a Week 11 bye. One of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL, Barkley is averaging 3.9 yards per carry this season."I can pull up multiple clips where you can look back and see I'm doing the same thing that I did in college or that I did my (rookie) year," Barkley said. "The season is not going the way I'd like it. I'm not going to put blame on anyone else. You have to point fingers at yourself first."I have to be better. I'm going to keep working. I put in my notes today: 'The great ones figure it out.' And I want to be great. I'm going to figure it out."Barkley has a chance to rebound in Week 13 as he matches up against the Green Bay Packers and their 26th-ranked run defense.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Wentz empathizes with Eagles fans: 'When they're frustrated, I'm frustrated'
Carson Wentz understands fans' disappointment regarding the Philadelphia Eagles' subpar campaign. The Eagles fell to 5-6 on the season after a 17-9 home loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12, a game in which the team committed a season-high five turnovers - four of them by Wentz."They have a right to be frustrated," Wentz said, according to ESPN's Tim McManus. "They pay money to sit in those seats. They pay money to cheer us on, and they're so passionate about it. And I'm the same way. So when they're frustrated, I'm frustrated, too."The Eagles have now failed to score more than 10 points in back-to-back home losses.Wentz has completed 62% of his passes for 2,530 yards and 17 touchdowns against six interceptions and eight fumbles through 11 games. The 26-year-old has also been sacked 28 times, putting him on pace to top his career-high in sacks suffered (33 in 2016)."I have so much confidence in my ability to turn this around and do my best and get these things fixed that I don't get too high or too low going through these things," the signal-caller said.Injuries have played a role in the Eagles' below-average offensive performances of late. Their offensive unit lined up in Week 12 without several starters, including linemen Lane Johnson and Brandon Brooks, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, and running back Jordan Howard.Philadelphia will try to snap its two-game losing streak in Sunday's Week 13 matchup against the 2-9 Miami Dolphins.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Thanksgiving Day action report: Bettors fading injured Lions
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. All eyes are on the NFL during Thanksgiving Day, which features three games from Week 13. Where is the sharp money going? What lines are moving the most?We talked to Jay Rood, Bet.Works' chief risk officer and theScore Bet's head trader, to see how sharps and public bettors are playing the Thanksgiving schedule. All lines courtesy of theScore Bet.Chicago Bears (-4.5, 38) at Detroit LionsThis line has been moving toward Chicago all week with the news that the Lions, already without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, could be without backup Jeff Driskel, too. Undrafted rookie David Blough is getting first-team reps and has never thrown a pass for Detroit, which has lost six straight against the spread."As you can imagine, it's mostly Bears," Rood said.Chicago is seeing a 20-to-1 advantage in money on straight bets and a 10-to-1 money edge on parlays, moving the opening line from -2.5 to -4.5. The line may continue to climb, especially if Blough is declared the starter. The total, meanwhile, has moved to 37.5 after sitting at 39 on Tuesday, which was already low thanks to two inept offenses. If Stafford was starting this game, Rood says Detroit would likely be between -1 and -2.5. Without him, books will be pulling for the hapless Lions on Thanksgiving Day - a feeling all too familiar over the years."It's all straight Bears," Rood said. "There's no getting around it."Buffalo Bills at Dallas Cowboys (-7, 46.5)The Cowboys are often a popular play on Thanksgiving, but the Bills are the ones drawing the slight edge this year.Buffalo is pulling roughly 60% of the money in straight bets and parlays with a similar ratio in ticket count at +7 (-120). Moneyline bettors are almost exclusively siding with the road 'dog at +255, though the Bills love affair likely won't last into Thursday."I think we'll see Cowboy money show up," Rood said. "I would expect this game to close a solid -7 flat."These two clubs are known to be solid defensive squads, but Dallas' high-powered offense is coaxing bettors into pushing the total from 44.5 to 46.5 as of late Wednesday. A high-scoring game likely wouldn't favor the Bills, whose games have averaged 33.5 points in ATS wins and 44.7 points in ATS losses.New Orleans Saints (-7, 49) at Atlanta FalconsThe Thanksgiving prime-time game this year is a rematch from three weeks ago when Atlanta pulled off a stunning road upset as a 13.5-point underdog. This line suggests oddsmakers view these teams similarly to then, adjusting for home field. However, bettors aren't expecting a repeat performance from the upstart Falcons. The Saints are bringing in three times as much money as Atlanta in straight bets and five times as much in parlays, with even higher margins in ticket count. Bettors are also teasing the Saints and Cowboys as public-friendly 7-point favorites, and they're even biting on the moneyline at -320."I think it's going to continue to trend this way," Rood said. "We're going to need the Falcons when it's all said and done to play inside a touchdown."C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Cardinals' Johnson: 'It's obviously been hard' taking back seat to Drake
Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson saw his disappointing season hit its lowest point in his team's Week 11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, failing to register either a run attempt or a catch for the first time in his five-year career.Johnson played just eight offensive snaps while Kenyan Drake, acquired from the Miami Dolphins in late October, took over starting duties. Though Johnson said he's spoken with the Cardinals' coaching staff, he hasn't heard anything specific about changes to his role."They haven't told me anything. Just whenever I get in the game, be ready," Johnson said Wednesday, according to Cardinals reporter Darren Urban.Johnson started in Week 10 but managed just 10 combined yards on six touches. Prior to Arizona's Week 11 contest, first-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury declined to name a starting running back, saying rushing duties would be handled "by committee."Drake has had at least 15 touches in each of his three contests since debuting with the Cardinals in Week 9, putting Johnson in an unfamiliar situation."It's obviously been hard," Johnson said, according to team reporter Kyle Odegard. "In the past, I was in the majority of the snaps. It's been rough. I've just got to move past it and make the most of every opportunity."Johnson's health has been an issue this season. The 27-year-old has battled ankle and back injuries since mid-October, ailments that already cost him two games."If you're any football player, they all want to be on the field as much as possible," the former Pro Bowler said. "It's rough, but it's football. There's always adversity. It's really just how you handle it."Johnson has amassed just 302 yards and two touchdowns on 82 carries this season, adding 323 yards and three scores on 31 receptions. He wasn't on the 3-7-1 Cardinals' most recent injury report for their Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Eagles sign kicker Elliott to 5-year extension worth reported $21.8M
The Philadelphia Eagles have rewarded kicker Jake Elliott with a five-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.Elliott's deal, which runs through the 2024 season, is worth around $21.8 million and contains $10.45 million in guaranteed money, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The yearly average and total guarantees both rank third at Elliott's position. The 24-year-old was a fifth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017, but Philadelphia signed him off the AFC North club's practice squad just after the start of that year's regular season.
Gilmore among 8 Patriots sidelined from practice due to flu bug
The New England Patriots have been hit hard by the flu.Eight players, including cornerback Stephon Gilmore, safety Patrick Chung, left tackle Isaiah Wynn, and linebackers Jamie Collins Sr. and Dont'a Hightower, missed Wednesday's practice, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss."We had guys come in, you'd look in their eyes and you could just tell they were out of it," said safety Devin McCourty. "Hopefully a day at home, with meds and rest, helps guys out."Offensive tackle Marcus Cannon was also limited in practice with an illness. He was commended by head coach Bill Belichick for playing through sickness in Sunday's win against the Dallas Cowboys. The reigning Super Bowl champions and current AFC leaders face the Houston Texans on Sunday night.McCourty didn't appear too concerned about how the sidelined players' status would affect the Patriots for the key conference clash."We have a lot of tough guys, but we have to see how it goes throughout the week," he said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Earl Thomas: Ravens' Super Bowl opponent is 'going to be in trouble'
The Baltimore Ravens face the San Francisco 49ers in a much-anticipated Week 13 matchup between two powerhouse teams this season. On Wednesday, Ravens safety Earl Thomas said Sunday's tilt could be a preview of Super Bowl LIV."You think the 49ers are going to the Super Bowl? It could be. Let’s see," Thomas told reporters, including ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "When the Super Bowl comes, whoever we play, they’re going to be in trouble."Baltimore has been included in Super Bowl discussions for much of this season. On Monday after another lights-out performance, quarterback Lamar Jackson dismissed the hype tied to his MVP-caliber campaign, saying his goal is to win a ring. His teammates supported him."I feel like everybody in the huddle has that same vision - all 11 guys see the Super Bowl in our near future, and it starts with Lamar," said wide receiver Willie Snead. The Ravens-49ers game will feature the league's best scoring offenses.Six years ago, both clubs battled for the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLVII. The Joe Flacco-led Ravens were crowned champions after a 34-31 victory over Colin Kaepernick and Co.With different names under center now, the two teams hold a combined 19-3 record through 12 weeks in 2019. Baltimore enters the clash on a seven-game winning streak, while San Francisco has lost just one contest this season.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Lamar on getting Madden's highest QB speed rating ever: It's still low
Lamar Jackson made Madden history Tuesday when EA Sports announced the Baltimore Ravens quarterback would become the fastest player at his position in the iconic video game's history.Yet Jackson isn't satisfied with his all-time speed rating of 96 in the latest roster update, which surpasses Michael Vick's 95 rating from the 2004 edition of the game."It still is low. But it is what it is," Jackson said Wednesday. He added, "I'm focused on winning right now."
Jerry Jones addresses Garrett's future: 'You've got to come in 1st'
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has simple instructions for head coach Jason Garrett during the final stretch of the regular season: win.Following a Week 12 loss to the New England Patriots, Jones' patience appears to be wearing thin with his 6-5 club. Feeling the pressure of the playoff push with the Philadelphia Eagles trailing the Cowboys by just a game in the NFC East, Jones laid it all on the table for his embattled head coach on Wednesday morning."Let me tell you, no one in this country has earned the right to say, 'I'm a Jason Garrett man' more than me. I am his man. And we want the very same thing. And that's for our players to play at their very best and we want his staff to coach at their very best," Jones began in an appearance on "Good Morning Football.""The bottom line is we get graded. I'm in business. I don't have to win the Super Bowl in business every year. I can come in sixth and have a hell of a year. But in this business, you've got to come in first. You've got to come in first. So fundamentally, you've asked for something that's a very narrow window to begin with. I want Jason to get it done."Garrett is in the final year of his contract. Jones has said he won't make an in-season coaching change, but he's yet to suggest the coach will be in Dallas beyond 2019.Rumors have also swirled about Garrett landing with the Giants if he's not retained.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Smith-Schuster clears concussion protocol, still dealing with knee injury
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has cleared the concussion protocol, but he's still recovering from a knee injury, the team announced Wednesday.Smith-Schuster, who missed last week's matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, was absent during Wednesday's practice.Running back James Conner also didn't practice on Wednesday while continuing to heal from a shoulder issue. The third-year back has missed three of Pittsburgh's past four contests.Despite being without Smith-Schuster and Conner, Pittsburgh found a way to beat the Bengals 16-10 in Week 12, jumping into the AFC playoff picture as the sixth seed. The 6-5 Steelers, who will start Devlin Hodges at quarterback instead of Mason Rudolph in Week 13, will play the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in a much-anticipated meeting following the Week 11 game-ending brawl.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bengals' Dalton: 'I wasn't sure if I was going to be starting again'
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton didn't expect head coach Zac Taylor to return to him as the team's starting signal-caller for Week 13 against the New York Jets."I wasn't sure if it was going to happen," Dalton said during a Wednesday press conference."I wasn't sure if I was going to be starting again," he added. But the 32-year-old is pleased after the decision."It feels good. Just as a player that started basically every chance I've had without being hurt, it gives you a different perspective being on the other side," he said prior to what will be his 129th career start."I'm glad to be back out playing. I feel like I can help us win, I'm excited to be going this last five games."Dalton began the season as the Bengals' starting pivot, but he was benched midway through the schedule. He had recorded eight losses in as many games, throwing nine touchdown passes and eight interceptions before fourth-round rookie Ryan Finley replaced him. However, Cincinnati didn't score more than 13 points in any game over Finley's three starts, with the 24-year-old failing to eclipse 200 passing yards in each outing."We just want a win, and that veteran presence he has will certainly be helpful," Taylor said of Dalton, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Dalton isn't concerned about potential backlash if he spoils the 0-11 Bengals' shot at the No. 1 pick in 2020."If this city isn't happy for wins then I don't know what to tell them," he said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Arena Football League ceases operations
The Arena Football League announced Wednesday it is ceasing operations and has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy."We're all disappointed that we couldn't find a way forward and we wanted to thank our fans, our players, coaches, everyone who loved the Arena Football League," commissioner Randall Boe said in a statement."We all love the game and tried very hard to make it successful, but we simply weren't able to raise the capital necessary to grow the league, resolve the substantial legacy liabilities and make it financially viable."A number of NFLers formerly starred in the arena league, including Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, former Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, and current Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy.Former team owners included Jon Bon Jovi and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS.The league featured just six teams in the 2019 season, as the Albany Empire won ArenaBowl XXXII in August.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lock's practice performance will determine if he starts vs. Chargers
Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio has yet to determine a starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.Fangio said he'll increase rookie passer Drew Lock's reps in practice this week, leaving it up to the second-round pick to determine whether he'll make his pro debut."(The team will) see how he does with that and then make a decision prior to the game," Fangio said Wednesday.Lock has been brought along slowly since returning to practice two weeks ago after undergoing thumb surgery in the preseason."Just feel like he's had a couple of good weeks of limited practices. I think he's ready to advance in his reps, and let's see where he's at further," Fangio said.Third-year pro Brandon Allen has started the past three games and has led the team to a 1-2 record in that time. He threw for just 82 yards and an interception in a Week 12 loss to the Buffalo Bills.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Belichick offers high praise for Hopkins: 'I think he defines NFL receiver'
Bill Belichick isn't often quick with the compliments, but he had effusive praise for one of his upcoming opponents. As the New England Patriots prepare to face the Houston Texans on Sunday night, Belichick identified Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins as the top threat."As good as there is. ... He's really never covered because there's always some place you could put the ball where he can catch it and he has the hands to catch it. Very hard guy to stop," Belichick said Wednesday."I think he defines NFL receiver. If you put NFL receiver in the dictionary, put his picture next to it."Hopkins is second in the league with 81 receptions and torched the Indianapolis Colts' secondary for 94 yards and two touchdowns last Thursday night.Unfortunately for Hopkins, he'll likely be matched up with Stephon Gilmore. The All-Pro corner has yet to allow a touchdown this season and held Dallas Cowboys star receiver Amari Cooper without a catch in Week 12.Regardless, Belichick still considers Hopkins dangerous. In a lengthy breakdown of the receiver's strengths and usage, the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach noted that double coverage usually isn't enough to contain Hopkins."He's been doubled his whole life so he knows how to attack it and get open and create separation, even when there are combinations on him," Belichick said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Falcons' Freeman set to return Thursday, Jones questionable
Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said running back Devonta Freeman "looks great" and will return from a foot injury Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints.Freeman has missed the team's previous two contests, and the Falcons' running game is slumping as a result, with Atlanta recording 57 rushing yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past Sunday and 54 yards in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers. While their top rusher is back, the Falcons' leading receiver is questionable for the Thanksgiving game. Quinn said Julio Jones will be a game-time decision, and his availability will come down to whether his ailing shoulder is at full strength and can take contact, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The gambler’s guide to surviving Thanksgiving
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Happy Thanksgiving, America. On Thursday when your family is overrunning your house while eating your food and you're longing for serenity, you'll want to be harboring as little animosity as possible.Being an insufferable, moody shell of a person is generally unavoidable from September to January when you're emotionally and financially invested in the National Football League. But whatever, it's your life, right?Nonetheless, for a couple of days over Thanksgiving week, your home is no longer your sanctuary. You'll be forced to swallow your pride and suffer through mindless pleasantries, like your sister-in-law raving about her son's immeasurable intelligence based off the finger painting he made in day care while she was out getting her nails done for the third time this month. It doesn't even look like a tree, Carol. Take it out of the frame and off your wall."Awesome, kiddo," you mutter. Your tone is hardly convincing. You glance back at the muted television just in time to see Mitchell Trubisky throw his third interception, making Bears -3 officially dead. You lean over to your cousin and joke, "ha, what's another $100, right pal?" Confused, Simon gives you a disapproving look before going back to his conversation.By this point, you've pretty much checked out. You promised to be on your best behavior and are striving to keep your word, but Aunt Sheryl doesn't care that you bet the Rams to win the Super Bowl and now they're not even going to make the playoffs. And Uncle Fred hasn't watched a game of football in 20 years and thinks DeAndre Hopkins is "that smart people university in Baltimore."Who are these people? And why are we sitting at the table when the games are on?Well, you're not alone. You're not the only one struggling during a day of football around people who couldn't possibly understand why you're so upset about the 49ers returning a meaningless fumble for a touchdown with no time left on the clock.

Each writer has been given an imaginary $1,000 bankroll to manage throughout the campaign. If you decide to follow any of the picks, please gamble responsibly.Odds are courtesy of theScore Bet.C Jackson Cowart ($1,063)Season record: 14-11-2, +$63Chicago Bears at Detroit LionsTotal: 39Nobody wants to root for a bad game on Thanksgiving, but everything about this matchup is ugly. The Bears' offense is in disarray - as evidenced by the team playing in five straight unders - while the Lions will either trot out injured backup Jeff Driskel or third-string rookie David Blough. Good luck, Detroit. As if this matchup wasn't juicy enough, consider this: Since 2009, Thursday games with a total of 40 or less have gone 17-3 to the under. A short week means these two bad offenses won't have much time to game plan, which sets this up as a prime under spot.Pick: Under 39 ($75)Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Jacksonville JaguarsTotal: 49If midweek money hadn't pushed the Bears from -2.5 to -3, that line would have been the second-best play on the board. Instead, bet high on a Bucs squad riding nine straight overs - the longest streak by any team since 2012 - against a suspect Jaguars secondary. Tampa Bay can't stop anybody, either, which should make for some nice theater between two bad teams.Pick: Over 49 ($25)Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh SteelersTotal: 40The Browns have gone 5-1 to the under against PFF's top seven defenses this season, including their Week 11 matchup with the Steelers in the infamous "helmet swing" game. Expect a physical rematch against Pittsburgh, which boasts PFF's best defense but can't stay healthy on offense.Pick: Under 40 ($25)Alex Kolodziej ($1,000)Season record: 10-8 ($0)Washington Redskins at Carolina PanthersTotal: 39.5It's been tough to squeeze even double-digit scoring out of the Redskins this season, but you can't really blame them, as they've faced units that currently rank No. 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 11, and 13 in DVOA. Carolina is right inside the top half at No. 15, but a Redskins interim head coach who wants to run the football might have success against the Panthers, who own the league's worst rush defense DVOA. So, this might be the week that sees the Redskins flirt with 20 points, although we don't necessarily need that big of a contribution from them. Carolina should do the heavy lifting in this matchup against a defense that's No. 23 in both adjusted sack rate and explosive pass rate allowed.Pick: Over 39.5 ($40)Thomas Casale ($988)Season record: 8-7-2, -$12Chicago Bears (-3) at Detroit LionsSome people may be wary of backing the Bears on Thanksgiving because of struggling quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. However, Trubisky produced his best game of the year against Detroit's 30th-ranked pass defense three weeks ago, throwing for 173 yards and three scores. The Lions could be down to third-string quarterback David Blough in this matchup, but even if Jeff Driskel plays, does it matter? Driskel is 1-7 straight up as a starter in the NFL.My father once told me to always bet the Lions when they are underdogs on Thanksgiving. A few years later, we had to flee the state because he owed so much money. It turns out that theory is backward - Detroit's gone 0-11 SU and 0-10-1 ATS the last 11 times it has caught points on Turkey Day. Fade the toothless Lions and expect the Bears to win easy.Pick: Bears -3 ($100)Cleveland Browns (-2) at Pittsburgh SteelersDo you think Mike Tomlin and the Steelers want revenge after what took place two weeks ago? Tomlin's in-game decisions can certainly be criticized, but there's no debating that he's a master motivator. Cleveland hasn't swept Pittsburgh since 1988 - when I wasn't even old enough to drive. The last time oddsmakers made Cleveland a favorite in the Steel City was in 1989, and since then, the Browns have gone just 2-25 SU on the road versus the Steelers.Need more? Tomlin is a remarkable 9-2 ATS as an underdog in December ... and Sunday is Dec. 1, so that trend counts. Ride the legend that is Duck Hodges in this one.Pick: Steelers +2 ($100)Alex Moretto ($701)Season record: 11-14-1, -$299Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) at Denver BroncosYou have to feel for Philip Rivers. It's been a lost season for the Chargers in what could be the pivot's last year with the franchise. And Rivers just hasn’t looked the same this season - he's been beaten up behind a makeshift offensive line and he's struggled with turnovers Meanwhile, Denver's defense ranks eighth in yards allowed and 11th in adjusted sack rate, and the unit's only gotten stronger throughout the season. The Broncos should have plenty of success pounding the ball and be able to control the clock against a Chargers run defense that ranks 27th in DVOA. That should open up space downfield for a passing offense that poses all sorts of mismatches with Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant, and Tim Patrick. The Broncos will win outright.Pick: Broncos +2.5 ($70), Broncos ML +130 ($70)Cleveland Browns (-2) at Pittsburgh SteelersTomlin simply won't let his team lose this game. After the chaos at the end of Pittsburgh's first meeting with Cleveland, he'll be out for revenge and might be the best in the business in these situations. Devlin Hodges at quarterback will make a huge difference, and both Juju Smith-Schuster and James Conner are expected to return. NFL Power Rankings - Week 13: What each team should be thankful for
The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, we take a look at what each team should be thankful for.1. Baltimore Ravens (9-2)Sean M. Haffey / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 1Thankful for Ozzie Newsome: The former Ravens general manager should never be allowed to buy his own drinks in Baltimore again after his parting gift of Lamar Jackson.2. San Francisco 49ers (10-1)Previous Rank: 3Thankful for great coaching: San Francisco controls the NFC thanks in large part to its elite staff. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has the 49ers ranked second in scoring offense, while defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has his unit ranked second in scoring defense.3. Seattle Seahawks (9-2)Previous Rank: 2Thankful for Russell Wilson: He may no longer be the league's MVP favorite, but his mere presence makes Seattle a perennial title contender. He's the only quarterback in NFL history to lead his team to a winning record in each of his first eight seasons.4. New Orleans Saints (9-2)Previous Rank: 5Thankful for He Who Can't Be Guarded: Michael Thomas is on pace for 151 receptions, which would break the NFL single-season record, and over 1,800 yards. @CantGuardMike is the only Saints receiver whose numbers didn't dip when Teddy Bridgewater filled in for Drew Brees.5. New England Patriots (10-1)Maddie Meyer / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 4Thankful for Jules: Julian Edelman has fought through shoulder and chest injuries since Week 4 to remain a reliable target for Tom Brady. The ever-dependable slot man has had to come up big given all the turnover within the Patriots' receiving corps.6. Minnesota Vikings (8-3)Previous Rank: 7Thankful for adversity: Minnesota could've overreacted to Stefon Diggs' unhappiness, but the team instead made it the turning point of its season. Since trade rumors involving his name surfaced, the receiver has had games of 167, 142, 143, and 121 yards.7. Kansas City Chiefs (7-4)Previous Rank: 8Thankful for a clean MRI: Kansas City's season flashed before its eyes in Week 7 when Patrick Mahomes dislocated his kneecap. Thankfully, the star quarterback avoided any other damage and only missed two games before returning.8. Green Bay Packers (8-3)Previous Rank: 6Thankful for a reality check: Sometimes a team needs one, and Green Bay got it, courtesy of the 49ers. Now, Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur can put their heads together and figure out how to get their offense rolling again in time for the playoffs.9. Houston Texans (7-4)Previous Rank: 10Thankful for a first-class QB: The Texans should be grateful for Deshaun Watson on Thanksgiving and every other day. By all accounts, he's both one of the best signal-callers and human beings in the NFL.10. Buffalo Bills (8-3)Bryan Bennett / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 12Thankful for that schedule: Bills Mafia doesn't want to talk about it, but Buffalo's eight wins have come against teams with a combined 21-67 record. The Bills have all but clinched a playoff spot because of it.11. Dallas Cowboys (6-5)Previous Rank: 9Thankful for Dak's breakout: Where would the Cowboys be without Dak Prescott? He leads the league in passing yards, ranks third in passing touchdowns, and would be an MVP candidate if Dallas had a more impressive record.12. Tennessee Titans (6-5)Previous Rank: 16Thankful for the QB change: The rise of Ryan Tannehill has been a pleasant surprise for the Titans, who've won four of the five games he's started. He's thrown 10 touchdowns against three interceptions since taking over for Marcus Mariota as Tennessee's quarterback.13. Oakland Raiders (6-5)Previous Rank: 11Thankful for Raider Nation: The Raiders' playoff hopes took a major hit in Week 12, but they've received incredible fan support throughout their farewell season in Oakland, making it one to remember.14. Indianapolis Colts (6-5)Previous Rank: 13Thankful for their O-line: Jacoby Brissett wouldn't be able to hold the ball nearly as long as he typically does if he had anything other than an elite offensive line in front of him.15. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5)Michael Hickey / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 19Thankful for Coach T: Pittsburgh has been beset by injuries to vital pieces like Ben Roethlisberger, James Conner, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, yet Mike Tomlin has the Steelers on track for the playoffs a year after many in the Steel City called for his firing.16. Los Angeles Rams (6-5)Previous Rank: 14Thankful for Week 13: Following their Monday Night Football embarrassment, the Rams should be thankful that Week 12 is in the past. Sean McVay's squad can reset, make necessary alterations, and plan a final playoff push.17. Cleveland Browns (5-6)Previous Rank: 18Thankful for a dismal AFC: The Browns, and in particular embattled head coach Freddie Kitchens, are lucky that this year's AFC wild-card race is one of the worst in recent memory. In most years, they'd be playing for pride by now.18. Philadelphia Eagles (5-6)Previous Rank: 15Thankful for the Cowboys' stumbles: Philadelphia must be stoked that Dallas hasn't pulled away in the NFC East race. Despite their issues and a litany of injuries, the Eagles are just one game back in the division and continue to own realistic hopes for a playoff berth.19. Carolina Panthers (5-6)Previous Rank: 17Thankful for Christian McCaffrey's health: In a year where Cam Newton went down early, the Panthers have had to rely excessively on their versatile running back. McCaffrey has kept Carolina from imploding and has stayed healthy while racking up a league-high 289 touches.20. Chicago Bears (5-6)Stacy Revere / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 20Thankful for the rookie wage scale: Under previous labor agreements, the Bears would probably be stuck with a more expensive Mitchell Trubisky beyond 2020. Thanks to the current collective bargaining agreement, Chicago can decline his fifth-year option and cut ties with him after next season without putting the Bears in a financial bind.21. Los Angeles Chargers (4-7)Previous Rank: 22Thankful for Derwin James' impending return: It's been a rough year for the Bolts, but they do appear set to activate their stud safety off injured reserve. Los Angeles' defense simply hasn't been the same without him.22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7)Previous Rank: 26Thankful for family and friends: Let's be honest, the Buccaneers don't have much going for them. They can finally move on from Jameis Winston after the season, but there's no guarantee they'll pick the right replacement - in fact, given their history, they probably won't.23. New York Jets (4-7)Previous Rank: 27Thankful for a top-10 defense: Jamal Adams and Co. have kept the Jets airborne while the offense has been finding its way. The unit has scored a touchdown in two of New York's last three games and currently ranks first in the league against the run.24. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7)Previous Rank: 21Thankful for rookie contracts: The cheap deals of budding stars Josh Allen and DJ Chark will come in handy next year, as Jacksonville's current roster, which contains many expensive veterans, projects to challenge the 2020 salary cap.25. Arizona Cardinals (3-7-1)Norm Hall / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 24Thankful for Chandler Jones: Since joining the Cardinals in 2016, no player has amassed more sacks than Jones, who has 53.5. He simply doesn't get enough credit and is one of the few bright spots on Arizona's defense.26. Detroit Lions (3-7-1)Previous Rank: 23Thankful for disguised blessings: Matthew Stafford being sidelined is bad for the present, but now the quarterback won't be able to win enough games for the Lions to justify giving Matt Patricia another year as head coach, and that could be a long-term win.27. Atlanta Falcons (3-8)Previous Rank: 25Thankful for Julio Jones: No matter how dire the situation in Atlanta gets, the Falcons will always have No. 11, who's on pace to finish in the top five for receiving for the sixth consecutive campaign.28. Denver Broncos (3-8)Previous Rank: 28Thankful for the upcoming QB draft class: Likely slated for a top-five selection in 2020, the Broncos should have multiple top-tier quarterback prospects to pick from. Perhaps John Elway will finally stop passing on pivots with his top-five picks.29. Miami Dolphins (2-9)Previous Rank: 29Thankful for a sliver of Fitzmagic: Though he likely cost Miami the first overall pick in next year's draft, Ryan Fitzpatrick has kept the Dolphins from being the league's laughingstock. The veteran gunslinger has led them to a pair of wins and has had Miami knocking on the door in other contests.30. New York Giants (2-9)Al Bello / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 30Thankful for winnable games on the horizon: Losers of seven straight, the Giants have little to celebrate. Fortunately for them, they have dates with the Dolphins and Redskins remaining on their schedule.31. Washington Redskins (2-9)Previous Rank: 31Thankful for road trips: The Redskins' next two games will be on the road, and three of their last five are away from home, where attendance has been embarrassingly sparse.32. Cincinnati Bengals (0-11)Previous Rank: 32Thankful for Joe Burrow's emergence: In the wake of the injury to Tua Tagovailoa, Cincinnati should thank its lucky stars that LSU's quarterback has come out of nowhere to become a legitimate option at the top of the draft. Even better is that Burrow hails from Athens, Ohio, which is a three-hour drive from Cincinnati, so he may be excited to land with the Bengals.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Mike Pereira: Pass interference rule 'set up Al Riveron for failure'
Mike Pereira, former NFL head of officiating and current FOX Sports rules analyst, sympathizes with Al Riveron as the senior vice president of officiating faces backlash in regards to the controversial new pass interference rule."It's a significant crisis brought on by this pass interference rule," Pereira said, according to Jarrett Bell of USA Today. "It set up Al Riveron for failure. They're trying to use a different standard for replays versus what is actually the standard on the field. What is gray is even more gray."Riveron rules on all pass interference challenges from New York City."I feel badly for Al," Pereira added. "This (rule) has made his job tougher than my job ever was."In June, the NFL approved instant replay for pass interference. The topic had previously been discussed during the league's annual meetings, but it moved to the forefront after a controversial non-call during last season's NFC Championship Game.Through Week 12, however, only 15 of 77 (19.4%) pass interference reviews have been overturned. It's left coaches feeling uncertain about when to challenge calls."Throw a flag at your own peril," New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said Monday.Payton displayed his frustration after referees overturned a Carolina Panthers incomplete pass on third down in the fourth quarter Sunday and ruled it defensive pass interference against the Saints. Two weeks ago, Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins criticized the officials' decision-making, suggesting someone other than Riveron should call the plays in New York."I'm anxious to see all the challenges, and then a poll of the coaches on what calls should have been overturned," Payton said. "Of course, (Riveron will) have his reasons for why not."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Rams' Weddle awed by Ravens: 'Half of the time, I didn't know who had the ball'
After Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Los Angeles Rams in a 45-6 win on Monday Night Football, longtime safety - and former Raven - Eric Weddle verbalized what the final box score showed."I kid you not," the 13-year veteran said, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. "Half of the time, I didn't know who had the ball."Baltimore finished the night with a season-high 285 rushing yards on 48 carries, outgaining the reigning NFC champions 480-221 in total yards while scoring 40-plus points for a third consecutive game. Mark Ingram led his club with 111 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries, while Jackson posted 95 yards on eight rush attempts."You guys all saw what I was trying to stop out there," Weddle said. "What they're doing on offense - a lot of times, I wouldn't know for a few seconds if he handed it or if he still had it. Imagine the whole defense - you're trying to play your rules and play the guy, and these guys are just coming downhill and doubling and getting extra gaps, and you're trying to figure out what's going on."Baltimore scored a touchdown on all six possessions with Jackson under center and outgained Los Angeles 31-14 on total first downs."(Jackson's) playing outstanding. Their defense is playing outstanding," Weddle said. "We got our faces peeled off. You guys watched it."The 9-2 Ravens have now outscored their opponents 172-46 since Week 9. Averaging 222 passing yards and 210 rushing yards per game, they have a chance to become the first team in NFL history to average 200-200 in yardage over a full season.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. FAAB bids are set off a $100 budget. Only players owned in less than 60% of leagues are considered.QuarterbacksBobby Ellis / Getty Images Sport / GettyNick Foles, JaguarsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. TB33%$3The Jaguars have lost two straight since Foles returned to the lineup, and while he hasn't done much to lift the offense, the end results weren't on him. Foles threw for 296 and 272 yards against a pair of solid defenses in the Colts and Titans. You can feel confident about him improving on those numbers versus the Bucs, who've allowed the second-most passing yards, the second-most passing touchdowns, and, consequently, the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.Sam Darnold, JetsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat CIN39%$3Darnold's struggles against the Dolphins in Week 9 were concerning for his rest-of-season outlook, especially since I had talked up his easy schedule ad nauseam. Fortunately, the sophomore QB has strung together three consecutive top-seven fantasy performances since then and shouldn't have a problem taking on a Bengals team that ranks near the bottom of the league in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA. Matchups with the Ravens and Steelers will likely prevent you from riding Darnold through the fantasy playoffs, but he'll remain a QB1 streamer for the next couple weeks.Other options: Ryan Tannehill at IND (26% owned), Jacoby Brissett vs. TEN (45% owned), Mitch Trubisky at DET (18% owned), Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. PHI (10% owned), Kyle Allen vs. WAS (18% owned), Andy Dalton vs. NYJ (5% owned)Running backsIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyJonathan Williams, Latavius Murray, and Derrius Guice are around the 60% ownership mark and should be owned in almost all leagues.Benny Snell Jr., SteelersNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. CLE5%$39James Conner wasn't able to suit up last Sunday after aggravating his shoulder injury in Week 11. When addressing the situation on his weekly radio show on 93.7 The Fan, the normally optimistic Conner sounded like a player who could miss more time. "I need to be smart. If I’m not, then surgery will need to be done. I had a minor setback versus Cleveland. It's killing me not being out there. The ligaments need to get stronger," he said, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Four Steelers backs saw the field in Conner's absence this week, but Snell led the way, playing on 49% of the snaps and racking up 103 yards from scrimmage on 22 touches. Pittsburgh's rushing attack also has favorable matchups with the Browns, Cardinals, and Bills over the next three weeks. No one will mistake Snell for a game-breaking talent, but the opportunity ahead of him puts him in the low-end RB2 conversation.Rashaad Penny, SeahawksNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. MIN19%$24Entering Sunday, Penny had only seen double-digit touches in one game this season and that was his lone outing with over 60 yards on the year. But with Chris Carson struggling against the Eagles, including putting the ball on the ground two more times, Penny was given 14 carries, which he turned into a season-high 129 yards and a score. His production caused Pete Carroll to admit there's "no reason not to get (Penny) back in there" in Week 13, meaning this could turn into a split backfield. While it's possible that Penny could steal the job if Carson keeps fumbling, the more likely outcome is Carson's RB1 value taking a hit as Penny becomes more involved as an RB3/flex. Either way, Penny needs to be owned in all leagues now, just keep your expectations in check versus Minnesota's shutdown run defense.LeSean McCoy/Darrel Williams, ChiefsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. OAK51%/6%$19/$9Despite being forced from the Chiefs' last game to get evaluated for a head injury, McCoy is not in concussion protocol coming off their bye week. Meanwhile, Damien Williams' status has yet to be updated, putting McCoy and Darrel Williams in position to handle the backfield work if his rib issue keeps him sidelined. In the event Damien is inactive in Week 13, McCoy would be a fringe RB2 with Darrel in the RB3/flex range. Beyond that lies difficult matchups with the Patriots (Week 14) and Broncos (Week 15) - both inside the top 10 at stifling fantasy backs.Bo Scarbrough, LionsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. CHI43%$12In his two appearances with the Lions, Scarbrough played over 50% of the snaps and turned in rushing stat lines of 14-55-1 and 18-98-0. He's not used in the passing game at all, but that kind of volume as a rusher makes him an attractive option on Thanksgiving Day against the Bears, whose run defense has disappeared due to injuries. Looking ahead, Scarbrough's fantasy value could dry up fast against a murderers' row of defensive fronts during the fantasy playoffs, including the Vikings, Buccaneers, and Broncos. At worst, he's a volume-driven RB3/flex with upside if he can find the end zone.Other options: Nyheim Hines vs. TEN (30% owned), Raheem Mostert at BAL (13% owned), Alexander Mattison at SEA (23% owned), Tony Pollard vs. BUF (13% owned), Gus Edwards vs. SF (12% owned), Ryquell Armstead vs. TB (1% owned), Rex Burkhead at HOU (6% owned), Malcolm Brown at ARI (5% owned), Jay Ajayi at MIA (17% owned), Duke Johnson vs. NE (55% owned), Qadree Ollison vs. NO (0% owned), Jalen Richard vs. KC (3% owned), Frank Gore at DAL (30% owned), Wayne Gallman vs. GB (5% owned), Dion Lewis at IND (8% owned), Giovani Bernard vs. NYJ (3% owned), Chase Edmonds vs. LAR (9% owned), Bilal Powell at CIN (0% owned), DeAndre Washington at KC (0% owned)Wide receiversIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyWill Fuller, Deebo Samuel, Dede Westbrook, and Robby Anderson are around the 60% ownership mark and should be owned in almost all leagues.A.J. Brown, TitansNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat IND16%$14Brown is a volatile fantasy weapon, as he's posted five above-average performances with receiving stat lines of 3-100-0, 3-94-2, 6-64-0, 4-81-0, and 4-135-1, mixed with six games of under 30 yards. The bad news is that's likely to continue since he's only seen more than five targets in two games this year. The Titans are built around Derrick Henry, not their passing attack. However, since this is a week filled with speculative upside adds at receiver, Brown tops the list as someone capable of delivering week-winning numbers. Matchups with the Raiders and Texans in Weeks 14 and 15 make the rookie a potential starter early in the fantasy playoffs.Sterling Shepard/Darius Slayton, GiantsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. GB54%/25%$14/$14With Golden Tate in concussion protocol and tight end Evan Engram still sidelined with a foot injury, Shepard and Slayton are in line for increased targets. All three wideouts were thrown to at least seven times Sunday, and Slayton led the team with 67 receiving yards in a challenging test against the Bears' pass defense. New York's schedule softens up significantly with the Eagles, Dolphins, and Redskins during the fantasy playoffs, so consider both Shepard and Slayton fringe WR3 plays during that stretch.Randall Cobb, CowboysNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. BUF30%$9Amari Cooper playing at less than full health is contributing to a rise in targets for Cobb. The veteran slot receiver has gone over 85 yards in each of his last three contests, including against the Patriots last weekend. If Cobb is going to continue producing over the next three weeks, he'll need to do it against the quality pass defenses of the Bills, Bears, and Rams. Even with his ceiling capped, Cobb is still worth adding as a borderline WR3 given his recent surge.N'Keal Harry, Patriots Next UpOwnershipFAAB bidat HOU26%$9The Patriots' receiving corps is a mess behind Julian Edelman. That's not to say they don't have talent, but injuries have made it hard to project this unit moving forward. With Phillip Dorsett (26% owned) and Mohamed Sanu (65% owned) sidelined, Harry and Jakobi Meyers (1% owned) stepped into the starting lineup in Week 12. Though Meyers had more yards, Harry played more snaps and found the end zone. Harry can offer a similar skill set to Josh Gordon's, and his contested catches could come in handy on a team lacking a true red-zone presence. If Sanu is available, he would be the first Patriot wideout in this bunch worth scooping up, with Harry second and Dorsett third. Meyers' playing time will be dictated by injuries.Other options: Auden Tate vs. NYJ (10% owned), Anthony Miller at DET (12% owned), Mecole Hardman vs. OAK (27% owned), James Washington vs. CLE (20% owned), Diontae Johnson vs. CLE (14% owned), Cole Beasley at DAL (29% owned), Chris Conley vs. TB (15% owned), Ted Ginn Jr. at ATL (7% owned), Tre'Quan Smith at ATL (4% owned), Allen Hurns vs. PHI (0% owned), Russell Gage vs. NO (7% owned), Demarcus Robinson vs. OAK (10% owned), Andy Isabella vs. LAR (1% owned), Greg Ward at MIA (0% owned)Tight endsThearon W. Eric Ebron has been placed on injured reserve, establishing Doyle as the Colts' clear top tight end. Mo Alie-Cox will step into a larger role, but Doyle's numbers have nearly doubled across the board when Ebron's been on the shelf. With Ebron out of the picture, Doyle is a TE1 in fantasy moving forward.Ryan Griffin, JetsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat CIN44%$9Griffin was on this list last week and came through with his fifth touchdown of the season Sunday. Over his last seven games, Griffin has put up at least 50 yards and/or a touchdown five times. That run should continue with the Bengals and Dolphins on tap for the next two weeks. He remains a TE1 in fantasy until further notice.Other options: Noah Fant vs. LAC (40% owned), David Njoku at PIT (30% owned), Mike Gesicki vs. PHI (15% owned), Delanie Walker at IND (25% owned), TJ Hockenson vs. CHI (37% owned), Kyle Rudolph at SEA (47% owned), Kaden Smith vs. GB (0% ownedCopyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Super Bowl odds: Ravens the new favorites after MNF statement
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Only one team in NFL history has won three consecutive games in a season by at least 34 points. That club is now the favorite to win the Super Bowl.Fresh off dismantling the Rams on Monday night, the Baltimore Ravens sit atop the oddsboard as 3-1 favorites to win it all, knocking defending champion New England off the top spot for the first time all season. The last time the Ravens didn't win by at least 34 points was in Week 9 when they bullied the Patriots in a 37-20 win. That win gave Baltimore the head-to-head tiebreaker over New England, which could loom large in determining home-field advantage in the AFC. Oddsmakers told theScore that if those two met in the playoffs, the Ravens would be 4-point favorites at home but 1.5-point underdogs in New England.Baltimore is riding a seven-game winning streak - with four wins against teams above .500 - into this week's clash with San Francisco (7-1 to win the Super Bowl). The 49ers blew out Green Bay on Sunday night in similarly dominant fashion.Still, San Francisco can't match what the Ravens have done on their way to the top spot on the board. Baltimore is the first team to win four straight games against winning teams by more than 100 points combined, and its +184 point differential is the best by any team since the eventual Super Bowl champion Saints in 2009.The advanced metrics like the Ravens, too. They're first in weighted DVOA and the only team with a top-five rank on offense (1) and defense (4).This week's dominant win ended any discussion of Russell Wilson being favored over Lamar Jackson for this year's MVP. After throwing five touchdowns in his Monday night debut, the second-year phenom is 1-3 to win the award ahead of Wilson (7-2), with Dak Prescott (20-1) and Christian McCaffrey (25-1) as distant long shots. Here are the updated Super Bowl odds entering Week 13, with a few teams having seen notable movement:Teams listed with odds shorter than 100-1TEAMODDSRavens3-1Patriots7-2Saints4-149ers7-1Chiefs10-1Seahawks12-1Vikings12-1Packers18-1Cowboys25-1Texans40-1Eagles80-1New England Patriots (7-2)We should know better than to doubt the Patriots, who still have just one loss in their last 16 games. Read that again. Unfortunately for them, that loss came to Baltimore, which rightfully leapfrogged Bill Belichick and Co. amid a historic run.Still, the Pats have a one-game lead over the Ravens for home-field advantage in the playoffs, which oddsmakers suggest could be the deciding factor on who makes (and wins) the Super Bowl. New England's defense still looks historically strong, and Belichick will have a plan for Jackson in a rematch. Don't ignore decent odds here.San Francisco 49ers (7-1)Is the market somehow still slow to react to San Francisco? The Niners only moved from 8-1 to 7-1 after Sunday night's dominant win over a public-friendly Packers team? San Francisco looks like the best team in the NFC and has just one loss on the year, which came in overtime against fellow contender Seattle. We'll learn a lot about the Niners over the next two weeks in Baltimore and New Orleans. It may seem counter-intuitive, but buy before those two games - if they win one or both of them, you'll regret passing on 7-1 odds.Minnesota Vikings (14-1)Don't look now, but the Vikings are tied for the NFC North lead after Green Bay's loss. Minnesota also had a week off to prepare for next Monday's showdown against an overvalued Seahawks team. The Vikings' talented roster has hinted at it being a Super Bowl contender all year. Inspired coaching has elevated this team to six wins in its last seven games and an outside shot at a first-round bye. A loss this week could bounce these odds back to 16-1, but an impressive win could threaten 10-1 or shorter.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. NFL Week 13 survivor picks
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.A friendly piece of advice this week: stay away from the Thursday games. The last thing your family needs is for you to be filled with resentment and ruin Thanksgiving because Josh Allen sent you crashing out of your survivor pool. The cranberry sauce is bitter enough without you adding to it.And, for us Canadians who already celebrated Thanksgiving, trusting in a Jason Garrett-coached team will make your commute even more miserable than it usually is.Wherever you are in the world, life is stressful enough without hanging the hopes of your survivor pool entry on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13.If you're one of the few still standing, there are much better options at your disposal this week. The Cowboys haven't won a Thanksgiving Day game against a team not named the Washington Redskins since 2013. Since then, they've suffered losses of 19 or more points to the Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and Philadelphia Eagles. To make matters worse, Dallas is 0-4 this season against teams with winning records and gets set to host the 8-3 Buffalo Bills. Here are some more trusted alternatives.Safest picks1. Carolina Panthers (vs. Washington Redskins)The Panthers are headed in a troubling direction. There are questions about whether Ron Rivera will last beyond this season, as well as a number of uncertainties surrounding the future at the quarterback position. Carolina has lost three in a row and is set to miss the playoffs once again. The franchise is at a crossroads.Fortunately, the Redskins have reached the point of complete, utter anarchy. There likely isn't a worse-run franchise in football, and to define it as turmoil would be only scraping the surface. For Carolina to reach Washington's level of incompetence, it would have to let go of Kyle Allen and Cam Newton, sign Trevor Siemian, and draft Steven Montez in the first round to compete for the starting job.Dwayne Haskins is probably the worst starting quarterback in the NFL, and you're sorely mistaken if you think he's going to go on the road and find any semblance of success against a respectable secondary. He managed just 156 yards at home in Week 12 against a miserable Detroit Lions pass defense.Under Rivera, Carolina is 14-0 straight-up when laying at least a touchdown at home. Basically, the Panthers take care of business at Bank of America Stadium when they're expected to, and, as far as survivor pools go, there's no better stat you could want.2. Kansas City Chiefs (vs. Oakland Raiders)It feels as though the Chiefs are about to go on a run. Patrick Mahomes is fully healthy and head coach Andy Reid had the opportunity to work out the kinks with his team over the bye week. They're gearing up for a playoff push. While the Chiefs were getting healthy during Week 12, the Raiders were getting trounced by a score of 34-3 by the New York Jets and seeing their playoff hopes suffer a serious setback as a result. Perhaps Oakland's biggest issue has been its inability to win on the road. The Raiders are 1-4 away from home, with three losses of 18 or more points. They're not just losing as the visitors, they're getting blown out. That failure, along with the Raiders' 28th-ranked pass defense, is a recipe for disaster as Oakland heads to Arrowhead to face the high-flying Chiefs. If that's not enough, Andy Reid is 17-3 in regular-season games following a bye.3. Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Miami Dolphins)If this is your preferred choice then you should at least wait until we get a more firm idea of whether Alshon Jeffrey, Nelson Agholor, and/or Lane Johnson will return this week. Carson Wentz has looked about as bad over the last couple of weeks as a quarterback can, but it's hard to place the blame squarely on him. The offensive line is banged up and his starting wide receivers have been J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Greg Ward, the latter being a converted quarterback. What's encouraging is that the defense is coming on strong, allowing a combined 34 points to the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks over the last two weeks. In fact, the Eagles' defense hasn't allowed a team to score 20 points since their Week 7 loss in Dallas. If the unit can keep this up and Philadelphia gets a couple of pieces back on offense, it shouldn't have a problem with the Dolphins in a must-win game.4. New York Jets (vs. Cincinnati Bengals)I firmly believe in the resurgence of the Jets. This is the team we were supposed to see this season. These are Sam Darnold's Jets. It was fair to remain hesitant after wins over the lowly New York Giants and Redskins, but their beatdown of the Raiders was a statement. Even if you are still a Jets cynic, they've proven capable of beating up on bad teams, and look who's on tap in Week 13: the Bengals. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is Andy Dalton's return as the starting quarterback (I bet that's never been said before as a positive for the Bengals). Ryan Finley was painful to watch, and while Dalton has his share of shortcomings, including a lack of pocket awareness and an inability to protect the football, he does like to sling it around. The Bengals are playing carefree football, which could cause them to open up the playbook a bit for Dalton, who is competing for a job next season.Week 13 confidence rankingConfidence rankings (CR) are out of 10 based on the author's picksAWAYHOME (SPREAD)WINNER (CR)WashingtonCarolina (-10)CAR (9)OaklandKansas City (-9.5)KC (8)PhiladelphiaMiami (+9.5)PHI (7)N.Y. Hilton uncertain about Week 13 availability due to ailing calf
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton offered an uncertain outlook for Week 13 after admitting on Tuesday that he experienced tightness in his calf in a game five days ago."I didn't have my explosiveness," Hilton told reporters, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.Hilton returned in Week 12 to face the Houston Texans following a three-game absence due to a calf injury, but he was ineffective. He dropped two passes against the Texans and played only 25 out of 67 offensive snaps. The three-time Pro Bowler said he spent his weekend in the training room, and he hopes to play Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans.Indianapolis has lost three of its last four games to slip out of a playoff position. Eagles' Brooks suspects new contract provoked anxiety attack
Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Brandon Brooks believes the expectations that came from his recent contract extension contributed to the anxiety attack he suffered Sunday.Brooks, who became the NFL's top-paid guard earlier this month after inking a four-year, $56.5-million deal, exited Sunday's contest versus the Seattle Seahawks with what the team initially called an illness. He later acknowledged that he couldn't continue in the game because of his anxiety."I tried to talk myself down about it," he said Tuesday, according to John McMullen of 93.7 ESPN FM. "Like, 'Hey, if you're playing great, just keep doing what you're doing, no issue.' But in talking to my therapist about it, I think also, by talking about it consciously, I think it started to set in my head, like, 'Hey, you got to show everybody you're worth the money.'"The 30-year-old told reporters "the show goes on," indicating that he plans to play in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Week 13 over/under bets: Tasty under in Detroit
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. Each week of the NFL season, we'll highlight some of the best bets on the over/under. Last week featured an easy under in Chicago and an even easier over in New Orleans, though a bad beat in Atlanta killed our chances for a perfect week. Still, we're carrying a 22-14 overall record into the next round of games, with some delectable options on the table. Here are our best bets on totals for Week 13.(Trends are from Sports Database unless otherwise noted.)Chicago Bears at Detroit LionsTotal: 39If you were hoping to avoid wagering on the Thanksgiving slate, you may have to reconsider, because this feels like one of the best bets of the year.We went under on the Bears in Week 12, and we could have buttered our bread with any Bears under in the last five weeks as Mitchell Trubisky and the offense continue to implode. Chicago now has the fourth-worst offense in football, per PFF, but its defense is more than capable of causing nightmares for the Lions, who could be starting third-stringer David Blough at quarterback on Thursday. Wait, who?Totals of 40 or below are 14-3 (82.4%) to the under this year, so trust oddsmakers when they hint at a low-scoring affair. Here's an even better stat: Since 2009, Thursday games with a total of 40 or less have gone 17-3 (85%) to the under, and road teams have averaged a mere 9.1 points in those 20 games. A short week means less time to game plan, which especially hurts two ill-prepared offenses. Bet your stuffing on another under here.Pick: UnderTampa Bay Buccaneers at Jacksonville JaguarsTotal: 49We went under on Tampa Bay last week, but the Falcons' improved defense was no match for the streaking Buccaneers, who've now gone over in nine straight games. It's the longest run since the 2012 Patriots, and it's got a good shot to reach 10 against a Jaguars defense that allowed the Titans to drop 42 points in Week 12.Jacksonville is 3-1-1 to the over since trading away star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and has allowed 26, 33, and 42 points in three consecutive losses. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has scored at least 23 points in all but one game during its lengthy over streak while allowing at least 27 points in all but one.The Buccaneers' defense has been impressive against the run but brutal at tackling in the second level, which could spell trouble against Leonard Fournette, who ranks fourth in the NFL in yards after contact (723). This total should be in the 50s, so take the over and hope Jameis Winston doesn't fumble it away.Pick: OverCleveland Browns at Pittsburgh SteelersTotal: 40The Steelers have become one of the hottest under bets in football. That's a testament to their elite defense and their putrid offense, which ranks 30th in the league, per PFF. Pittsburgh is 5-1 to the under in its last six games, which included a 21-7 loss to the Browns in the infamous "helmet swing" game.A physical rematch should favor the under and it won't feature Mason Rudolph in a revenge spot. Instead, former fourth-stringer Devlin Hodges will get the start and look to inject some life into a decrepit Steelers offense that's still missing James Conner and possibly JuJu Smith-Schuster.Cleveland lit up Miami last week but is 5-1 to the under when facing PFF's top four defenses, averaging 14.7 points in those games. The Browns' defense has graded well since reintroducing star cornerback Denzel Ward, who will likely erase Hodges' top target on Sunday. Everything is pointing under in another profitable 40-or-below spot.Pick: UnderC Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Hodges to start over Rudolph in Steelers' rematch with Browns
The Pittsburgh Steelers will start Devlin Hodges at quarterback over Mason Rudolph in their Week 13 rematch with the Cleveland Browns.Hodges relieved an ineffective Rudolph against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 and led Pittsburgh to a come-from-behind win."The decision is clear for us," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday. Tomlin added, "I thought he provided us a spark in-game. I'm hopeful that he's capable of continuing to provide that spark as we step into this stadium."Hodges, an undrafted rookie from Samford, started one game earlier this season. He guided the Steelers to a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 13, completing 15 of 20 passes for 132 yards with one touchdown and one interception on Sunday Night Football."He has not killed us," Tomlin said when asked why he's going with Hodges for the pivotal AFC North tilt.Rudolph has started every other game since Ben Roethlisberger landed on injured reserve after Week 2. In nine appearances this year, the Oklahoma State product has thrown 12 touchdowns against nine interceptions.Four of Rudolph's picks came two weeks ago against the Browns in a game Cleveland won 21-7 on Thursday Night Football. Rudolph was bashed over the head with his own helmet while brawling with Browns lineman Myles Garrett at the end of that contest."He hadn't protected the ball very recently like he did in the early portions of his participation," Tomlin said while explaining the quarterback switch. "I got a lot of patience for young guys but one thing that we need to do is take care of the ball."Rudolph was fined for his role in the Week 11 melee, while Garrett was suspended for at least the rest of this season.Tomlin stopped short of declaring Hodges the starting quarterback beyond Week 13.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Cowboys' next coach odds: Urban Meyer tops list
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Jason Garrett's days as Dallas Cowboys head coach finally appear to be numbered. The much-maligned coach was panned for opting for a field goal in the red zone while down seven points late in Sunday's game, a loss to New England that dropped the Cowboys' record to 6-5. Afterward, owner Jerry Jones - often Garrett's biggest supporter - was sharp in his criticism of the coaching staff, saying he "shouldn't be this frustrated" with a team this talented. The loss was Garrett's fourth in as many tries this year against teams that currently own winning records, sparking the age-old debate about whether the 10th-year coach is holding back the Cowboys' loaded roster.Garrett is 5-1 to lose his job before Week 1 of the 2020 season, and his odds to coach the Redskins next year (5-1) are only slightly longer than those to coach the Cowboys (3-1). And with a hot seat comes a short list.Oddsmakers released a list of potential replacements late Sunday - some realistic, some ridiculous, including Jerry Jones himself. Outside of the top few names, it's mostly a list of B-list college coaches and NFL retreads, but a few names stand out as intriguing options should Garrett be kicked to the curb. Here are the top betting options to replace Garrett, with a few noteworthy selections from the board:COACHODDSUrban Meyer3-1Josh McDaniels4-1Lincoln Riley5-1Robert Saleh5-1Sean Payton6-1Jim Harbaugh12-1Ken Norton Jr.16-1Kris Richard16-1Mike Leach20-1Dan Campbell25-1Chris Petersen25-1Tom Herman33-1Mike Munchak33-1Jim Schwartz33-1Gus Bradley33-1Nick Saban40-1Todd Haley40-1Dabo Swinney50-1Mike Gundy50-1Chip Kelly66-1Lane Kiffin66-1James Franklin80-1Gary Patterson80-1Bob Stoops100-1Tony Romo150-1Peyton Manning150-1Bill Cowher250-1Jimmy Johnson500-1Barry Switzer500-1Jerry Jones500-1FavoritesUrban Meyer (3-1)Urban Meyer's name carries the most weight on this list of anyone outside of Nick Saban, and the Cowboys won three Super Bowls in the 1990s under former title-winning college coaches in Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. Is Meyer the guy? He's -120 to coach somewhere in 2020, and he's the favorite for nearly every job opening in college or the NFL. But don't forget his unceremonious exit at Ohio State, which included a three-game suspension for mishandling domestic abuse allegations involving an assistant coach.Given the cloud surrounding Ezekiel Elliott just two years ago, the Cowboys may shy away from throwing their money at Meyer. The coach also may not take it, having retired in 2018 because of stress-related health concerns. The Dallas job isn't exactly stress free, and neither is laying short odds on a hire this volatile.Lincoln Riley (5-1)Meyer's the bigger name, but Riley is arguably the hottest coaching candidate in the college ranks and was generating buzz as a potential fit for the Cowboys even before this weekend. He wouldn't leave Oklahoma unless the job was too good to pass up (that's a no to Washington). With Dak Prescott, elite skill-position talent, an All-Pro offensive line, and a well-stocked defense, this could be that job.Robert Saleh (5-1)Saleh has the shortest odds of any NFL coordinator outside of Josh McDaniels, who's already flamed out as a head coach before and seems destined to replace Bill Belichick in New England. Jones likes offense, but installing the 49ers' defensive coordinator would make the most of Dallas' talented yet inconsistent defense - and it could restore some discipline and accountability for one of the league's most penalized teams.Sean Payton (6-1)The Cowboys have been flirting with Payton since he led the Saints to a Super Bowl in 2009-10, but the former Dallas assistant coach signed an extension this offseason that ties him to New Orleans through 2024. Stranger things have happened, but it would likely be too expensive for Jones to pry Payton out of the Big Easy.Kris Richard (16-1)Perhaps the quietest contender on this list, the Cowboys' charismatic assistant should be considered among the front-runners given his familiarity in the building and appeal as one of the NFL's bright young defensive minds. He helped shape Seattle's Legion of Boom and had an outsized role in guiding last year's stout defense.Long shotsDan Campbell (25-1)The Saints' assistant head coach grew up as a Cowboys fan in Central Texas and spent three years with the team as a veteran leader at tight end, so the interest is surely there if the 'Boys come calling. Don't count him out at 25-1.Gary Patterson (80-1)Patterson is tied for the longest odds of any current coach, but he's revered as a top mind and leader in college and has spent two decades as a pillar in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He'd be a strong backyard hire and is an intriguing play at 80-1.Tony Romo (150-1)It's probably a pipe dream, but who doesn't want to see Romo on the sidelines for his old team, dialing up every play call? The hire would be lauded among Cowboy fans and maybe even the media, too, which is no small feat for a job this grand. If Garrett could turn his status as Cowboys quarterback into a head coaching job, why can't Romo?Kellen Moore (off the board)Inexplicably, Moore isn't listed on the board, even though he probably deserves more credit for the Cowboys' wins this year than Garrett does. The 31-year-old offensive coordinator has helped reinvent Dallas' offense and turn Prescott into a legitimate MVP contender, and his Cowboys-quarterback-turned-coordinator background is right up Jones' alley. The biggest knock on Moore is his age and inexperience. But the Cowboys would be wise to lock him up before the buzz gets out of control, or else they may risk losing the hot-shot coordinator to another team.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. McVay: Rams won't let MNF stinker linger
Sean McVay expects the Los Angeles Rams to bounce back quickly from their embarrassing 45-6 loss on Monday Night Football to the Baltimore Ravens."Give them credit, they did a good job," he said of the opposition. "But we're not gonna let this bleed into next week. This is humbling, nobody's gonna shy away from (it), we've got to do a lot better collectively as a team. You give the Ravens their credit, but what you can't do is you can't allow the Ravens to beat us twice as we move forward into our preparation in the upcoming week."Los Angeles was dominated by Baltimore in all three phases of the game, halting any momentum the team had generated from winning three of its previous four contests. The Rams dropped to 6-5 with the defeat, putting them in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time under McVay, whose first two seasons as head coach included minimal adversity."I trust that we have the right guys in that locker room, guys that are mentally tough, that understand that whatever we did tonight has nothing to do with what we're gonna do moving forward unless we allow it to," he said.Though they've labored through most of the season, the defending NFC champions hadn't lost by more than two possessions before running into Lamar Jackson's Ravens.McVay claimed responsibility for the 39-point blowout on home soil, but the 33-year-old said he won't agonize over it for too long."Can't wait to look at this tape, fix it, and then we get ready for the Arizona Cardinals next week," he said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lamar dazzles with 5 TD passes as Ravens embarrass Rams on MNF
LOS ANGELES (AP) Lamar Jackson added another argument to his Most Valuable Player case in his “Monday Night Football” debut, leading the fearsome Baltimore Ravens to another blowout win.Jackson matched his career high with five touchdown passes and ran for 95 yards in another splendid all-around performance, and the Ravens routed the Los Angeles Rams 45-6 on Monday night for their seventh consecutive victory.Mark Ingram rushed for 111 yards and a TD and caught a scoring pass while the Ravens (9-2) became the fourth team in the 21st century to score touchdowns on its first six drives in a game. With Jackson operating almost flawlessly at the controls, Baltimore embarrassed a previously solid Rams defense by racking up 480 yards with its evolving brand of high-octane football. The Ravens’ 22-year-old quarterback went 15 for 20 for 169 yards while constantly making smart decisions with his arm and his feet. He hit Willie Snead with his fifth TD pass with 14:43 to play and took the rest of the night off.Snead and Marquise Brown had two TD catches apiece for the Ravens, whose winning streak is their longest since they won seven straight to close the 2000 season on the way to their first Super Bowl title. At 9-2, the Ravens have matched their best start since 2012, which ended in their second Super Bowl championship. Baltimore has outscored its last three opponents 135-26.Jared Goff passed for 212 yards with two interceptions and Todd Gurley rushed for just 22 for the defending NFC champion Rams (6-5), who took the worst loss of their three seasons under coach Sean McVay.Los Angeles hadn’t lost by more than 21 points in its first 43 games under McVay, whose once-prolific offense had another embarrassing performance with just 111 yards in the first three quarters before finishing with 221. The Rams failed to score a touchdown for the second time in three games. In the Coliseum’s first Monday night game since the Rams’ epic 54-51 win over Kansas City last November, the Rams gave up one more point than they had allowed in their previous four games combined. The Rams also were among the NFL’s best offensive teams for the previous two seasons, but they’ve lost that status this year while Baltimore has ascended to dominance. The Ravens scored on their opening drive for the seventh time already this season when Jackson lofted an easy TD pass to Brown, who spent a year playing community college ball in nearby Santa Clarita. Brown got his second TD from 18 yards out on Baltimore’s second drive, and Ingram capped a 75-yard march with an 11-yard TD run on the third.Baltimore got the ball back with only 1:55 left in the first half, but that was plenty for Jackson, who went 9 for 9 in the first half. He hit Snead with a 7-yard TD pass with 12 seconds left, and Rams fans booed their team off the field down 28-6.Baltimore opened the second half with another 75-yard drive capped by Ingram’s TD catch. The Ravens held the ball for all but 59 seconds of the third quarter, and Snead made his second TD catch early in the fourth. The Ravens finally had to punt in the fourth quarter, ending a streak of 18 consecutive drives without a punt.LA REUNIONBaltimore cornerback Marcus Peters made an interception in the fourth quarter to cap his first meeting with the Rams since they traded him to the Ravens last month. Peters shook hands with dozens of former teammates throughout the night, but he also engaged in some demonstrative trash talking with Robert Woods on the field, and he celebrated his pick with relish.INJUREDRavens: C Matt Skura was taken off the field on a cart in the first quarter with a knee injury. Report: NFL told Cowboys refs erred calling tripping penalties vs. Patriots
The NFL informed the Dallas Cowboys that two tripping penalties during Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots shouldn't have been called, a source told ESPN's Todd Archer.A tripping call on center Travis Frederick cost the Cowboys a conversion on third-and-1 while they were driving for a potential go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James has been designated to return from injured reserve and is likely to play Sunday against the Denver Broncos in Week 13, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.James has missed all 11 games this season after suffering a stress fracture in his foot during training camp in August. The 23-year-old was back on the practice field Monday:
Broncos to consider activating, starting rookie Lock in Week 13
The Denver Broncos could play - and potentially start - rookie quarterback Drew Lock in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers."It's possible, yeah ... As far as this week goes, all options are on the table," head coach Vic Fangio said Monday, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN. "... We're just going to make a decision in the next couple days."Lock, a second-round pick out of Missouri, has spent the first 12 weeks of his NFL career on injured reserve. The 23-year-old, who sprained his thumb in the preseason, began practicing Nov. 12."Just (want to) see some more practice ... just to make sure he's OK physically, which he is, and that he's prepared mentally and emotionally to play," Fangio said. With Joe Flacco out for the season, the Broncos have started former sixth-round pick Brandon Allen for the last three games. He's shown little promise and went 10-for-25 for 82 yards with an interception in a 20-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.Last week, Fangio said it was "not vitally important" for Lock to see the field during his rookie year despite Denver trading up in the draft to nab the QB at 42nd overall. Broncos general manager John Elway said after picking him that Lock was the No. 1 quarterback on his draft board.Denver has been in quarterback flux since Peyton Manning retired following Super Bowl 50.The 3-8 Broncos will host the Chargers in a divisional clash Sunday.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bengals reinstall Andy Dalton as starting QB
The winless Cincinnati Bengals are going back to Andy Dalton as their starting quarterback in Week 13 against the New York Jets, the team announced Monday."We just want a win, and that veteran presence he has will certainly be helpful," first-year head coach Zac Taylor told reporters, including NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Dalton sat for three games while the Bengals started rookie Ryan Finley, a fourth-round pick out of NC State. Finley failed to eclipse 200 yards passing in all three starts, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, and was sacked 11 times. In eight games prior to his benching, Dalton threw for 2,252 yards with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. He had taken 29 sacks, the most of any quarterback up to that point in the season.Dalton was miffed upon learning of his demotion, which took place on the same day as the NFL trade deadline. At the time, he complained it was too late for him and his agent to explore trade possibilities to a team in need of a quarterback."We've been on the same page," Taylor said of his relationship with Dalton, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. "Andy's handled it as well as any veteran hoped you would."The 0-11 Bengals are the only team in the league without a win.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. MNF player props: Best bets for Ravens-Rams
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Week 12 of the NFL season wraps up Monday night when the Baltimore Ravens head west to take on the Los Angeles Rams. Here are the best player props for the prime-time tilt, beginning with someone who bettors should be buying low on.Jared Goff over 250.5 passing yardsThere have been times this season when Goff looked awful. The Rams' offensive line has been ravaged by injuries and it's clear the fourth-year quarterback is struggling to deal with constant pressure in the pocket. We've seen Goff have rough games against the San Francisco 49ers (No. 1 in adjusted sack rate), Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 2), Carolina Panthers (No. 3), and Cleveland Browns (No. 5). All four of those contests featured the Rams as the visitors, and the signal-caller's problems away from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum are well-documented.Now, Goff and Co. have a chance to move the ball Monday at home against a Ravens front seven that is No. 24 in adjusted sack rate. The quarterback has averaged an earth-shattering 397.8 passing yards per contest with seven total touchdowns against four interceptions in four games this year against teams that rank in the bottom 10 in that department.I think we'll see the good Goff show up Monday night.Mark Ingram under 53.5 rushing yardsRavens quarterback Lamar Jackson will likely still have success running the ball on the edges, but I don't love the matchup for Ingram. The Rams are No. 3 in the league in rush defense DVOA and have allowed three yards or fewer per carry to running backs in four of their last five games. They're also pacing the NFL in explosive rush rate allowed, so Ingram will need a high volume to get over the total. Unfortunately, the veteran has experienced a slight dip in usage of late.Ingram is averaging 12.4 carries per game in his last five contests compared to 14.8 in the opening five. He's gotten more than 13 carries just once during those last five games after eclipsing that number in three of his first five. It's no coincidence that he went over 53 yards on the ground just once from Weeks 6 to 11.Gerald Everett longest reception over 12.5 yardsThe Ravens are the No. 3 pass defense DVOA in the NFL but are prone to giving up big plays, as suggested by their No. 18 ranking in explosive pass rate allowed. They've managed to surrender fewer than 40 yards to opposing tight ends in each of the last six, but most of the damage comes from a single pass.Baltimore has allowed a catch of at least 13 yards to an opposing tight end in all but one game this season. There could be a splash play in this one for Everett, who's had a long of 13 or more in five of his last seven outings.Alex Kolodziej is a betting writer for theScore. We better show up (in Kansas City) or they're going to beat us by 50."The Raiders traveled across the country to face the lowly New York Jets, looking for a win that would've catapulted them into a tie for first place in the AFC West. Instead, they were on the wrong end of a 34-3 domination."We didn't show up and we got our asses kicked," defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins said. The Raiders entered Sunday's matchup on a three-game winning streak, sparking talk in Oakland about making the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They accomplished nothing versus the Jets, though, with all three phases struggling to generate any sort of momentum."As frustrating as (this loss) is, let's be honest, these six games that we've won, no one thought we could do that with who we have," Carr said. "We're still a good football team, but it is what it is. We're still building that foundation."The Raiders will take a 6-5 record into their pivotal matchup with the Chiefs, who sport a 7-4 mark.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc.
