The San Francisco Police Department are searching for suspended Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith after a domestic violence incident Saturday, Scott Bair of NBC Sports reports.Police responded to a call where they found the victim with non-life threatening injuries. Smith wasn't at the scene when police arrived but was identified as the aggressor. The linebacker is currently suspended for repeated violations of the NFL's substance abuse program but remains on the Raiders roster.Smith has faced several legal issues since entering the league. The 28-year-old asked a judge in February to reduce his child support payments, arguing that he hasn't received an income since November 2015.Smith will need to be reinstated by the NFL before he can play for the Raiders again.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Dallas Cowboys currently have the luxury of carrying the lowest-paid starting quarterback in Dak Prescott, the NFL 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year.Per league rules, Prescott cannot earn more money until after the 2018 season, but owner Jerry Jones expects to give his starting signal-caller a lucrative extension when the time is right."(Prescott is) going to get his extraordinary contract," Jones said via the Dallas Morning News. "But while we can put the team together and take advantage when he is on this contract right now, we’ve got to be real astute to maximize that advantage."The quarterback is signed through 2019, and until an extension occurs he will count for less than $1 million against the salary cap.Dallas will also be looking to extend running back Ezekiel Elliott at some point, though the team will have an extra year to negotiate since he was a first-round pick.Prescott accumulated 3,324 passing yards and 22 touchdowns in 2017 but threw nine more interceptions than he did during his rookie year.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is "firmly in the mix" to be taken No. 1 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns after dominating the combine, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He would be the first running back taken at the top of the draft since the Cincinnati Bengals took Ki-Jana Carter - also of Penn State - in 1995.Barkley has long been considered the premier prospect at his position but helped force his way into the conversation - which has been dominated by quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen - by producing a great 40-yard dash time and vertical leap.It remains a question of positional value for Cleveland, however. The Browns have been highly criticized for passing on quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz in years past, so taking a player like Barkley, who plays what's perceived as one of the lesser-valued positions, could be a risk.Barkley lit up his final year in college, racking up 1,271 rushing yards, 271 receiving yards, and 21 total touchdowns.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bradley Chubb is the best defensive player available in this year's NFL draft, and he underlined and highlighted that point with his performance Sunday at the combine. The 6-foot-4, 269-pound defensive end hopes to fashion himself into a mix of Khalil Mack and Von Miller, the premier players at his position. He ran the 40 in 4.65 seconds and pushed out 24 reps on the bench press in an attempt to make that goal seem realistic. As put on full display this weekend, Chubb's athleticism and relentless motor should make NFL evaluators question whether he's the best player at any position to come out of college this year.

Hall of Fame wide receiver and NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin presented a passionate defense of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. With free agency on the horizon, there's been speculation that the Cowboys could release Bryant, a course of action that Irvin vehemently disagrees with.During an appearance Thursday on KESN-FM 103.3 FM ESPN, Irvin sounded off and gave the three-time Pro Bowler a strong vote of confidence."I warned you people here in Dallas to stop this s--- right now. ... We did this a couple of years ago with DeMarco Murray," Irvin said. "I tried to warn everybody to stop talking like you're talking. 'You can stick anyone behind that offensive line.' You're doing the same thing ... You can think you can find a receiver that can put up the types of numbers that you know Dez can put up? Stop it. They don't grow on trees like leaves or everybody would be raking them in. We're going to be headed towards another dumb, ignorant season because all of you guys are talking ignorant."Bryant's production has tailed off in recent years after he recorded three consecutive seasons with over 1,200 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns (2012-14). He also led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in 2014.Irvin doesn't seem to mind, however, and believes Bryant is essential to the Cowboys' future successes."Production does not tell the whole story, and numbers certainly don't tell the whole story. What tells the whole story are wins and losses. ... Now we sit here and we say, 'Dez gets upset that he's not getting the ball.' And then we turn around and say, 'Dez can't play. We gotta get rid of Dez. We can go find another receiver.' ... You know the thing everyone is out there looking for? Receivers. As if they were everywhere, and anywhere, just like you thought you can find any running back."Irvin provided a final warning to Cowboys management if the team is seriously considering releasing Bryant."Dez Bryant helps you win football games. All these chumps y'all talking about going to get, they're not football winners. They're football players, but they're not football winners. Stop doing this."- With h/t to Dallas Morning NewsCopyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The NFL draft is an arduous process for prospects, who are evaluated, interviewed, examined, and generally prodded and poked in every manner possible - physically, mentally, and emotionally. One of this year's prominent victims of the overexposure and length of that process is Lamar Jackson, a Heisman-winning quarterback who's spent his time at the combine plagued by chatter about a move to wide receiver.Related: Lamar Jackson right to dismiss any team that asks him to work out as WRBut Jackson isn't the only quarterback receiving unfair treatment from the league and the media as a result of the spotlight.Josh Rosen's character has been called into question throughout his final season at UCLA. Media and teams have questioned his love for football and nudged his fellow Bruins to give their true opinions on their quarterback. But Rosen chipped away at that narrative during a hugely impressive 15-minute press conference Friday.

Impending free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is viewed as a potential starter by "at least a handful of teams" around the league that expressed interest in him last week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.Bridgewater produced a solid two-year beginning to his career before suffering a devastating knee injury in August 2016. He missed all of the 2016 season and threw just two passes in 2017. The Minnesota Vikings moved on first to Sam Bradford and then to Case Keenum, who are both also free agents. It's previously been unclear if teams would pursue Bridgewater as a starter, a backup, or a player to bring in to fight for the No. 1 job. Concerns regarding his long-term health remain despite his near-miraculous return to the field this past campaign.Bridgewater will likely take a short, prove-it deal in order to rebuild his financial value, and it appears teams will give him a chance to regain his standing as a potential franchise passer.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Green Bay Packers will appeal an arbitrator's decision to award Martellus Bennett his signing bonus after the tight end was released with a "failure to disclose injury" designation, team president Mark Murphy said in a Q-and-A with fans Saturday. The Packers began to recoup a portion of Bennett's $6.3-million signing bonus in November, but an arbitrator ruled he deserved to keep the money.Murphy was asked if the Packers have an option to appeal the ruling."I really can’t get into the details, but we think the decision was flawed and plan to appeal," Murphy wrote. "The appeals go to a panel of three arbitrators."Bennett caught 24 passes for 233 yards through seven games with the Packers in 2017 after signing a three-year contract. After being released, the New England Patriots claimed him off waivers and Bennett discovered he had a torn rotator cuff and labrum. Bennett claimed the Packers lied when they said he didn't disclose the injury, resulting in the legal battle.Murphy told ESPN's Rob Demovsky that the Packers lost the case in part because the Patriots claimed Bennett, so they picked up the entire contract despite the "failure to disclose injury" designation.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bradley Chubb is setting his expectations high. The highly touted pass-rusher out of N.C. Jarvis Landry is not being shy about his dislike for possibly playing under the franchise tag in 2018.After the Miami Dolphins receiver was reportedly granted permission to seek a trade, Landry released a 10-minute video Saturday morning detailing why he doesn't want to play under the $16-million tag without any guarantees past 2018."The team decides to exercise the franchise tag. I'm considering not playing on it," said Landry. "The franchise tag is not a good deal for me. In my case, I've played four years. Then you get another year of basically not signing me to a long-term deal. In that year anything can happen. Look at guys like Ryan Shazier who may not have an opportunity to play again."He's fighting a battle to just walk again. I'm at the point where taking care of my family is the most important thing for me. I put my body on the line for years. I've sacrificed my time and my life to make sure that I have this opportunity."Landry led the NFL in receptions in 2017, his third straight season with at least 94 catches. He may have been the most coveted receiver if he hit the free-agent market. If Landry cannot secure a trade, he has until July 16 to sign a long-term deal with the Dolphins before facing the decision to play under the tag or sit the season out.The entire 10-minute video can be viewed below:

Free agency is football's version of March Madness, so it wouldn't be complete without a Final Four.Kirk Cousins is providing the drama this year as he has reportedly narrowed his search for a new destination down to four teams: The Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and New York Jets.Without knowing where each team is on the list, let's take a look at what these four suitors can pitch to Cousins in an effort to convince him to join their club.VikingsClosest team to a Super BowlIf Cousins' true priority is to go to the best team, the Vikings should be his pick.Minnesota was one game away from reaching the Super Bowl last season with a quarterback who many thought was in over his head and without its star rookie running back. Cousins would have a tremendous receiving corps to grow with in Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, and Kyle Rudolph, all of whom are younger than the former Washington Redskins passer.Cousins wouldn't have the weight of an organization on his shoulder, as the Vikings' elite defense has been established as the team's identity. He would be well-supported by a coaching staff that welcomes John DeFilippo as offensive coordinator following his successful run as Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach.Related - Cousins: I'll prioritize winning over money if I hit free agencyThe biggest knock on the Vikings' pursuit of Cousins is money. Head coach Mike Zimmer expressed concern about overspending for a quarterback and losing cap space to retain the stout defense.BroncosVeteran team in a weak conferenceThe Vikings likely have the best team, but the Broncos may have the best chance to get to the Super Bowl.Playing in the AFC - where at least one team has made the playoffs without ten wins in each of the past three seasons - the Broncos are likely just a quarterback away from being in contention for a first-round bye.Related - Report: Broncos 'all-in' on pursuing CousinsPeyton Manning showed that John Elway is a tough man to say no to. The veteran receiver duo of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders is likely the most proven set of pass-catchers in the NFL. The defense is still one of the league's best with top-level stars Von Miller and Chris Harris Jr. on the roster. The pieces for a championship team are almost all there, and now they just need a quarterback to complete the puzzle.CardinalsStable, low-pressure organizationCousins isn't necessarily well-suited for the NFL media machine, as he has often delivered awkward lines that have been ridiculed endlessly. In Arizona, the starting quarterback has been entering warmups in ridiculous costumes for the last five seasons without much more than a few chuckles in response. The Cardinals media market isn't nearly as feisty as Washington's and the organizational structure would be a major upgrade.Related: Johnson pitches to Kirk Cousins, says Cardinals are his best optionGeneral manager Steve Keim has worked with the Bidwell family, the team's owners, to build a competitive squad with elite personnel such as David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Patrick Peterson. Under new head coach Steve Wilks, Cousins has the chance to be the face of the franchise as the club transitions from the Bruce Arians era.The Cardinals may not have the best chance to win right away and they'll need to clear some cap space to afford Cousins, but the culture of the club and the area it's located may convince the 29-year-old to come to the desert.JetsMoney, fame, powerJoining the Jets would go against a lot of what Cousins seems to be standing for, but if he really wants to prove the doubters wrong by betting on himself, the Big Apple may be his choice. The Jets have the most cap room of the four suitors, by quite a bit, and can easily offer Cousins enough to make him the NFL's highest-paid player. The available endorsements for a successful star athlete in New York would make the move even more lucrative.Related - Report: Jets will pay 'whatever it takes' to land CousinsAlong with the chance to become the new King of New York as Eli Manning fades from the spotlight, joining the Jets on a mega deal would also put major pressure on Cousins to make the team a playoff contender right away. He would have to face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots twice a year while fending off the vicious New York media and fanbase without an overly-talented offense. If Cousins has that type of Baker Mayfield belief in himself, signing a huge contract with expectations of being the next Joe Namath could be the move to go with. However, having made just under $44 million over the last two seasons, Cousins may not need all the money he can get.(Photos courtesy: Getty Images)Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Josh Allen is trying to make himself seem as alluring as possible to NFL general managers across the board, but he's going to be completely honest in his self-evaluation.Allen, who featured at quarterback for Wyoming, rejected the idea submitted by performance coach Ryan Flaherty that the prospect can throw the ball 90 yards downfield."That’s a pretty bold statement from Ryan Flaherty,†Allen said Friday via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "He's not too far off, but 90’s a tough task. I don’t hope on throwing that. We’ll keep my arm a little under that."Allen has emerged as one of the most polarizing players in the 2018 NFL Draft, with his proponents pointing to his professional-level arm strength. However, his detractors noted he completed 56 percent of his passes in two years as a starter against underwhelming competition, and wonder how his inaccuracy will translate versus better defenders. The quarterback, though, remains confident he'll shine throughout the combine."Obviously, I’m going to come out and throw tomorrow and hopefully I get to have a good showing at pro day; I plan on it," Allen said. Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider revealed Friday the team doesn't plan to use the franchise tag on defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. The 2013 Defensive Rookie of the Year was considered a candidate to receive the tag after being acquired from the New York Jets in September. However, when asked if the Seahawks would use the tag on Richardson on Friday ahead of the March 6 deadline, Schneider provided a bleak response."Not at this point," Schneider said Friday via ESPN's Brady Henderson. "We have time, but we have more people that we have to talk to this weekend. We're not done with all our meetings."Schneider did note the Seahawks would still like to re-sign Richardson ahead of the 2018 season. It won't be an easy summer for Schneider and his staff, with several core players scheduled to become free agents, including Richardson and Jimmy Graham.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lamar Jackson rejected the notion that he was asked to line up at wide receiver during the NFL scouting combine, as he aims to be selected in the first round as a quarterback. It was reported by NFL Network's Peter Schrager that numerous teams have asked Jackson to work out at wide receiver, despite the fact that he never recorded a catch during his collegiate career."No teams asked me to play wide receiver. I don't even know where that came from. I'm strictly quarterback," Jackson told reporters Friday.Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016 and was named the ACC Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017 during his tenure at Louisville.During his media availability, Jackson revealed that he will throw at the combine, but won't run the 40-yard dash."The film speaks for itself with that, showing off my speed," Jackson said via Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report. The quarterback is highly sought-after with a host of teams meeting with him throughout the combine.

Russell Wilson could soon get the opportunity to achieve one of his childhood dreams. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback hinted Friday that he might receive an at-bat in a live spring training game with the New York Yankees."It looks like I'm going to get a chance to get an at-bat, potentially," Wilson told reporters, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. "You guys are going to have to pay attention."Wilson is not in the Yankees' starting lineup for Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves, but is on the list of available position players, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has been supportive of Wilson appearing in a game, but said he would need to speak with Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in order to receive clearance. Carroll said he believes Wilson being in camp is an "awesome" experience, but opted not to give a straight answer when asked about the possibility of Wilson playing in a game."He's not doing a great job of going with pitches away from him," Carroll said Thursday. "We are hoping he will start putting the ball into right field a little bit more, you know. We want him to go with the pitch. Aside from that, the curveball is still giving him a problem, like it always did, you know, back in the day. So we will see what happens."Wilson arrived in camp earlier this week and has spent most of his time mingling with players. He did partake in some fielding drills and batting practice with Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, and Giancarlo Stanton.

Editor's note (5:00 pm ET): This feature was written prior to Lamar Jackson denying reports that teams asked him to be tradedQuarterbacks are NFL royalty. No other position comes close in terms of responsibility, stardom, and financial rewards at the professional level.Elite quarterbacks are revered, great ones are fought to the death over, and even just good ones can potentially sign for NFL-record money, as is the case for Kirk Cousins. So why, NFL teams, do you think Lamar Jackson should eschew this most rewarding of paths to move to wide receiver, a position he has little to no experience in?For Jackson, the insulting request should be met with a polite but firm, "thanks, but no thanks."While Jackson is a Heisman-winning quarterback, the NFL draft is all about the projection of skill sets rather than focusing on statistical production, which can be inflated or deflated by supporting casts, scheme, and level of opponents. The former Louisville standout shouldn't remain under center simply because he won the Heisman, or because he threw for over 7,000 yards and 57 touchdowns in the last two seasons. He should stay because the NFL is built around game-breaking players. You want the ball in the hands of rare talents as much as possible, and Jackson is a level of athlete you don't see come along often.

Former Pro Bowl offensive tackle Branden Albert was arrested Wednesday in Atlanta after an altercation with a police officer at a jewelry store, and some crazy details of the incident emerged Friday.Albert attempted to access a part of the shop where customers are not allowed and "punched a jewelry cabinet which left a very large hole" when confronted by the owner, according to TMZ Sports. The store's security guard - an off-duty police officer - approached Albert, who said he would "kill" the owner and then pushed the cop and tried to leave. The officer then used his taser and knocked Albert to the ground, but the 6-foot-5, 314-pounder apparently pulled out the prongs, got back up, and tackled the cop during a subsequent chase.Albert was arrested for damage to property and obstruction of law enforcement and remains in jail as of Friday morning. The officer suffered minor injuries.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

One of the most highly regarded centers in this year's NFL draft appears to have escaped serious injury, as Billy Price announced Friday that he suffered an "incomplete pec tear" during Thursday's bench-press evaluation, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.Price added that he is "definitely happy it is something minor," and that he expects to be ready for training camp, according to Schefter.A two-time All-American at Ohio State, Price has been widely considered to be a player worthy of selection in the first two rounds of April's draft, so the news on his injury is positive for teams looking to land his services.Price took home the Remington Trophy as a senior last season as college football's top center.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Derrius Guice believes he's an elite option in this year's class of running backs at the NFL combine, and he's not afraid to let teams know how he feels. The former LSU running back put his confidence on display during media interviews Thursday, declaring that every team that passes him over in April's draft will rue that decision, according to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle."If you don't draft me, I'm going to give your defense hell," Guice said. "As a runner between the tackles, in my opinion, there's no one better than me in that area. Point blank."When asked who his best on-field NFL comparison was, Guice didn't hesitate to mention one of the league's most imposing forces: Marshawn Lynch."Beastmode, Skittle Man," Guice said. "I see anger, man. I see somebody who refuses to go down. When I run, I really think about him every time. And when I go back and watch him, I'm like, 'Man, I really run like this dude.' It's crazy."Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Dion Lewis' phone will apparently be ringing non-stop come March 14.The New England Patriots running back is expected to be pursued by as many as seven teams when free agency kicks off, with the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and Houston Texans among them, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.Lewis had a career year in 2017, transforming from primarily a third-down back to a featured bell cow for New England. He rushed for 896 yards on 180 carries (5 yards per tote) and six touchdowns, appearing in 16 regular-season games for the first time in his career.Injuries have limited Lewis in the past, but the 27-year-old hits the open market with little tread on his tires, having just 329 career rushes.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. As things currently stand, Jarvis Landry is headed toward signing his franchise tag with the Miami Dolphins as early as next week, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports. The Dolphins identified Landry as their franchise player on Feb. 20 and reportedly allowed the wideout to seek out a trade Thursday.Perhaps Landry didn't find the interest he believed he'd receive on the open market. Should he sign the tag with the Dolphins, he's expected to earn more than $15.6 million.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
