The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired wide receiver Allen Robinson in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, sources told Dianna Russini of ESPN.The Steelers will swap 2023 seventh-round picks with the Rams, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Los Angeles will also cover $10.25 million of Robinson's 2023 salary while Pittsburgh will be on the hook for $5 million.Robinson suited up for just 10 games in 2022 - his first year with the Rams - after a foot injury prematurely ended his season. The team reportedly gave him permission to seek a trade. The 29-year-old wideout caught 33 passes for 339 yards with the Rams. Both marks were career lows aside from his 2017 campaign, in which he only played one game. The Rams signed Robinson to a three-year, $46.5-million deal in free agency last offseason. His exit is the latest veteran departure as Los Angeles attempts to start fresh after a 5-12 showing.A second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, Robinson is joining his fourth NFL team in Pittsburgh. He's earned one Pro Bowl nod and accumulated three 1,000-plus-yard campaigns over his career.Robinson brings a veteran presence to a Steelers receiver corps that features Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, and Calvin Austin.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said he considered retiring after he sustained his second concussion of the 2022 season."Having sat down with my family, having sat down with my wife, and having those kinds of conversations, it would be hard for me to walk away from this game," he told reporters Wednesday, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe. He added, "I always dreamed of playing as long as I could to where my son knew exactly what he was watching his dad do."It's my health, it's my body. I feel this is what's best for me and my family. I love the game of football. If I didn't, I would have quit a long time ago."The 25-year-old was forced to miss the final two games of the regular season and the team's postseason contest after suffering a concussion in Week 16. The Dolphins' star passer confirmed that he would've welcomed playing late in the season and in the playoffs had he been cleared, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.Tagovailoa spent 37 days in the league's concussion protocol from late December to January. The Alabama product said that doctors and specialists reassured him that he's not at greater risk of CTE or serious head injuries next season, which played a role in his decision to continue playing, per Wolfe.Tagovailoa posted career highs in his first year under head coach Mike McDaniel. He passed for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns and led the NFL with a 105.5 quarterback rating in his third season. Miami opted to pick up the fifth-year option in Tagovailoa's rookie contract, locking in $23.2 million guaranteed for the 2024 season.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The San Francisco 49ers received inquiries from multiple teams about a potential trade for former No. 3 pick Trey Lance, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.San Francisco has been taking calls rather than making them, Rapoport adds. No trade is reportedly imminent.Lance started the 2022 season as the 49ers' starting quarterback before an ankle injury ended his year. Brock Purdy took over the down the stretch following an injury to backup signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo and played admirably, leading the club to the NFC Championship Game.49ers general manager John Lynch said in March that Purdy is likely in line to be the 2023 starting quarterback. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan later said that Lance could regain the starting job.Purdy underwent elbow surgery this offseason after tearing his UCL in the NFC title game and is expected to miss six-to-eight months. He's "not really sure" if he'll play in 2023 due to his elbow injury, he told Jori Epstein of Yahoo on Friday.Lance, meanwhile, has endured a rocky ride with the 49ers, spending his rookie season sitting behind Garoppolo before an ankle injury ended his second season. He made just four career starts, throwing for five touchdowns and scoring one more with his legs. The 49ers sent a package that included three first-round picks to move up to the No. 3 spot in 2021 to select Lance. They also solidified their quarterback room with the signing of Sam Darnold this offseason following the departure of Garoppolo in free agency.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff confirmed he hasn't spoken with the team about a new contract but is open to negotiating a possible extension."It hasn't been brought to my attention, but yeah, of course, open to anything," Goff said, according to Justin Rogers of The Detroit News."I'm a player; I don't have to make those decisions. And if I did, I would have made that decision a long time ago."Goff has two years remaining on his contract, with cap hits of $30.9 million in 2023 and $31.9 million in 2024, according to Over the Cap. The Lions acquired Goff in 2021 in a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Rams that included Detroit's all-time passing leader Matthew Stafford. The 28-year-old Goff struggled in his first season with the Lions but excelled in 2022. He threw for 4,438 yards with 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions, helping Detroit's offense finish fifth in points per game."We've had good talks, more toward the end of last season or right after the end of last season," Goff said. "Everything has been clear and open."The Lions hold two first-round picks in this month's NFL draft, including the sixth overall pick they acquired in the Stafford trade. Detroit could look to add a young quarterback to the roster to learn behind Goff.Goff has 25,854 passing yards with 155 touchdowns and 77 interceptions in 100 career games.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen acknowledged he needs to play safer and keep his body out of harm's way as he gets older."I've always had the mindset of, I've been a football player first and a quarterback second," Allen said, according to Lorenzo Reyes of USA TODAY. "At some point, that is going to have to switch. When that point is, I don't know. I guess I'll let my body tell me. It sounds crazy, but I'm getting older."Allen had 124 rushing attempts for 762 yards last season, ranking second on the team in both categories. He has over 100 carries in each of his previous four seasons. The 26-year-old Allen has battled injuries over the last two campaigns. In 2021, he suffered a toe injury in Week 14, which landed him in a walking boot following the game. Last season, he dealt with a UCL sprain that lingered into the playoffs."I do want to be the smartest quarterback with the football in my hands," Allen said. "I don't want to put the football in harm's way because I know how detrimental that is to our team with the interceptions and the fumbles."Allen added that he's focusing on getting "a lot of rest, a lot of mental recovery" after a season that was "pretty draining, physically, emotionally, and mentally."The two-time Pro Bowler is entering his sixth season in the NFL. He has 18,397 passing yards and 176 total touchdowns in 77 career games.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The Carolina Panthers continue to evaluate their options with under 10 days remaining before the 2023 NFL Draft.Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer said Tuesday the team has a clearer view of its options as the owner of the No. 1 overall pick, but he added the club's decision-makers haven't reached a consensus as they finalize their draft board."We're still going through the process," Fitterer said during a pre-draft press conference, according to team reporter Augusta Stone. He added there has been "clarity" following pro days, top-30 visits, and other interactions.Carolina climbed to the top of the draft board in a March megadeal with the Chicago Bears, sending wideout D.J. Moore and multiple first-round picks - including the No. 9 selection in this year's draft - to Chicago to secure the first overall pick.Fitterer said the Panthers made the move because they believe strongly in a group of prospects at the top of the draft.Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has emerged as a favorite to be selected at No. 1. The 2021 Heisman Trophy winner reportedly canceled the remainder of his pre-draft visits Monday, prompting speculation he could be the top choice next week.Young completed top-30 visits with the Panthers, Houston Texans, and Las Vegas Raiders.Fitterer said the Panthers haven't told Young he will be their pick. Carolina is set to host quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Will Levis at their facility later Tuesday, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra.Young has faced scrutiny from some evaluators because of his size. But Fitterer said the Panthers are confident the 5-foot-10, 204-pound signal-caller will be able to bulk up and translate his game to the NFL."Well, I'll say this, when Russell Wilson came out, I think he had three balls batted down his senior year; you know, Bryce had two," Fitterer said. "If you're just talking about Bryce, this doesn't seem to be an issue."Though Fitterer didn't fully shut the door on Carolina trading the top selection, he indicated it's an unlikely outcome."As of right now, I don't see us trading the pick," he said. The 2023 NFL Draft begins on April 27.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Last week, we got the first inkling of who the Carolina Panthers were leaning toward with the first overall draft pick. After the Panthers gave up a haul to the Chicago Bears for the right to pick their next franchise quarterback, the market seemed to expect it would be C.J. Stroud, making him the favorite at as high as -300. The odds subsequently flipped toward Bryce Young, but it was still in doubt - that is, until Monday.Player to be drafted 1st overallPLAYERODDS (4/18)ODDS (4/12)ODDS (3/2)ODDS (2/16)Bryce Young-1200-350-150-130C.J. That implies 92.3% certainty that Young's name will be the first called on April 27.We suggested last week that there would be a trickle-down effect if Young's odds moved. In terms of both fan interest and betting, the second and third picks are now the turning point for the rest of the top 10, barring a massive change of heart in Charlotte.Player to be drafted 2nd overallPLAYERODDSWill Anderson+150Will Levis+275C.J. Stroud+350Tyree Wilson+350Bryce Young+900Jalen Carter+2500Anthony Richardson+2500Stroud's prospects of being the first overall pick aren't the only thing to dip. He's also no longer the favorite to go second (which was hinted at when his odds to be the No. 2 pick weren't moving equally to Young's odds to go No. 1).As we thought, pass-rusher Will Anderson (+400 last week) turned out to provide value to get picked second overall. His current odds of +150 are no guarantee, as the Texans are reportedly interested in Tyree Wilson, whose odds have shortened from 10-1 to +350. Trading this pick to a team that likes Stroud more than Houston does would cause another massive shift in these odds.Player to be drafted 3rd overallPLAYERODDSC.J. Stroud+225Anthony Richardson+225Will Anderson+275Tyree Wilson+600Will Levis+900Jalen Carter+2000With Stroud's modest potential fall, Anthony Richardson's probability of going No. 3 takes a hit on the oddsboard. The Cardinals still hold that pick and aren't expected to take a quarterback, but whether the Texans select a passer or not, Arizona could hold a bidding war for any team looking to jump ahead of the Colts, who are dying for a quarterback prospect. If you're holding a ticket for Anderson (+400) to go No. 2, or a ticket on Stroud to go No. 3 (+650), you're sitting with some interesting long shots whose value has increased in just a few days. However, if you haven't made a bet yet, Anderson's odds in each market suggest that he's 66.7% to go either second or third. That would equate to fair odds of -150. As potentially the most polished player atop the draft, betting on Anderson's draft position under 3.5 has some value at any odds better than -150, especially since the path to his selection at No. 2 or No. 3 doesn't require a trade.Matt Russell is the senior betting writer for theScore. The Houston Texans may be receptive to moving the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft."We're open to listening," general manager Nick Caserio said Monday during his pre-draft press conference, according to Fox Sports' Ben Arthur.Houston is among several teams that could be in the market to select one of the top quarterback prospects. The Texans went 3-13-1 in 2022 and secured the second overall pick with a 32-31 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 18, which ultimately gave the Chicago Bears the No. 1 selection. The Carolina Panthers now hold the top choice following a trade with the Bears in March.Caserio didn't rule out the possibility that the Texans could opt against selecting a passer."Anything is possible," Caserio said when asked if there's a chance the Texans won't draft a quarterback.Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis headline a quarterback class that has enamored evaluators throughout the draft process, and the Texans have hinted at selecting one of the young signal-callers."We have a really good, to a couple of good, quarterback prospects at the top of the draft, and we want to add a young quarterback to our team," head coach DeMeco Ryans said earlier in April, according to ESPN's DJ Bien-Amie.Houston has been proactive in providing support for the quarterback position this offseason. The club signed tight end Dalton Schultz and receivers Robert Woods and Noah Brown, acquired Shaq Mason to bolster the offensive line, and rewarded Laremy Tunsil with a contract extension.Caserio also dismissed rumors Monday that he planned to leave the Texans following the draft."I feel almost embarrassed that I have to say anything," he said. "Honestly, I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Wolf of Wall Street.' No, I'm not leaving. There's never been any substantive discussions of the sort."The 47-year-old Caserio has served as Texans general manager since 2021 after spending close to two decades with the New England Patriots.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts agreed to a five-year extension that keeps the quarterback under contract through the 2028 season, the team announced Monday.Hurts' new five-year deal is worth $255 million and will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The contract also includes just over $179 million in guarantees and a no-trade clause, Rapoport adds. The quarterback reportedly gets $110 million fully guaranteed at signing, which comes in as the third-highest figure in NFL history. It's also the first no-trade clause given to a player in Eagles franchise history, according to Rapoport. The pact features an additional $15 million in incentives, according to Pelissero. With the incentives and about $4.3 million remaining on the final year of his rookie deal, Hurts can earn a maximum of just over $274.3 million on his mammoth extension.Hurts completed his finest campaign as a pro last season, leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance. He set new career highs in wins (14), completion percentage (66.5%), passing yards (3,701), touchdowns (22), and passer rating (101.5). He also pitched in 760 yards and a personal-best 13 scores with his legs.Hurts shattered the Super Bowl record for most rushing yards by a quarterback with 70 in the 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He also tallied 304 passing yards and four total touchdowns, with three coming on the ground.Philadelphia vocalized its support for Hurts throughout the 2022 campaign. Owner Jeffrey Lurie said in February that the 24-year-old had nothing left to prove in terms of being the team's long-term answer at quarterback, while head coach Nick Sirianni compared Hurts' presence to Michael Jordan's after a playoff victory this postseason. The Eagles' second-round selection of the Oklahoma product in 2020 was initially questioned due to Carson Wentz's position in the quarterback room. However, Hurts started four games in his rookie season as Wentz was benched, and the team traded the veteran in the offseason. Hurts took over as full-time starter in 2021 and showed steady improvement before his breakout campaign.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Tampa Bay Buccaneers edge rusher Shaq Barrett expects to be on the field in Week 1 when the 2023 campaign kicks off after he tore his Achilles in Week 8 last season."The absolute latest timeline should still have me ready, back by Week 1," Barrett said on the "No Off Days" podcast. "So even if I do go to late as possible, I should be still here ready to go for Week 1."Barrett finished the 2022 season with 31 total tackles, a forced fumble, three sacks, and six tackles for loss.Despite Barrett missing over half of the season, the Buccaneers still finished tied for seventh in team sacks with 45, but the team struggled to find its footing and stumbled to an 8-9 record. The 30-year-old went undrafted in 2014 and has since compiled 19 forced fumbles and 54.5 sacks, including a league-high 19.5 in 2019, in 115 career games. Barrett's also made two Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls: Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl LV with the Bucs.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. A group led by Josh Harris has agreed in principle to purchase the Washington Commanders franchise for $6.05 billion, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal isn't yet signed or official.Harris, 58, is the primary owner of the New Jersey Devils of the NHL and the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.The purchasing group also includes former NBA star Magic Johnson and billionaire Mitchell Rales.A $6-billion price tag would break the record for the most expensive purchase of a U.S. sports franchise. The Walton family's acquisition of the Denver Broncos for $4.65 billion holds the current record.Incumbent owner Dan Snyder bought the team in 1999 for $750 million. New Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. expects Lamar Jackson will be throwing him passes in the near future, although it isn't a sure thing.Beckham signed a one-year deal worth up to $18 million with Baltimore earlier in April. He was asked Thursday whether Jackson had assured him that he would remain the team's quarterback in 2023."Didn't get any assurances for anything. You know, life's uncertain. I think that we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow," Beckham said. "To me, it was just excited about the possibility of that. My thoughts would be that he would be here."He added: I know that (coach John Harbaugh and general manager Eric DeCosta) want him to be here. At the end of the day, it's going to be up to them."Beckham said that the goal was to come to Baltimore and have the "possibility" to play with Lamar."I'm excited about that opportunity," Beckham added.

Wan'Dale Robinson was still getting to know Will Levis during Kentucky's first summer scrimmage of 2021. Both were transfers - Robinson a wide receiver from Nebraska, and Levis a quarterback from Penn State.Levis' strong arm had made an impression, but since the passer was still working with the second- and third-stringers, Robinson didn't know much else about him.The design called for a play-action shot down the sideline to Robinson, and it required a big arm to get the football over the top. Fast-forward about 15 seconds to sheer magic: The pair connected on a 75-yard touchdown bomb, signaling the start of something special in Lexington."There's nothing like (his arm)," Robinson told me. "In practice, I was like: 'What in the world?' Coach (Mark) Stoops came over and said: 'That's your quarterback.'""We already kind of knew, but when he made that throw and hit Wan'Dale in the bucket, it was over," Liam Coen, Kentucky's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach that season, told me.It didn't take long for Stoops to officially designate the Penn State transfer as his starter. Nor did it take long for Levis to showcase his immense talent, raw athleticism, and untapped potential. Icon Sportswire / Getty ImagesIn his first collegiate start, the Massachusetts native threw for 367 yards and four touchdowns. (His first TD was the same play to Robinson they'd practiced.) After six straight wins, Levis cemented himself as one of the top players in FBS. In 2022, his Heisman candidacy popped as he guided the Wildcats to a 4-0 start, ranked seventh in the country - their highest position since 1977.The back half of the season didn't go as well once the Wildcats hit the heart of the SEC schedule. Some untimely turnovers and poor decisions in a couple of games dropped them to a 7-5 overall finish (3-5 in the SEC). That's contributed to Levis' status as one of the more polarizing prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft.Circumstances were not entirely in Levis' favor last season. Coen had left to join the Los Angeles Rams' staff (although he has returned for the 2023 season); Robinson and Kentucky's two best offensive linemen had graduated to the draft. Maybe most importantly, Levis was battling foot and shoulder injuries for most of the year, which could have led to some of the ball-placement problems that pro scouts have identified."Yes, there are some throws he can work on," Coen said. But he's not worried about Levis' ability at the next level."Remember in the movie 'Rookie of the Year' when Henry Rowengartner's arm was so sped up? Will almost felt like his arm was so explosive, he needed to slow down in order to throw a ball with touch," Coen said. "He's worked on that and learned that it's not anything about slowing your arm down, but when the ball's leaving your hand, it's just having a little touch on it. He's getting better at it."Featuring an explosive right-handed cannon and a physique that looks more Hulk than QB - he measured a chiseled 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds at the NFL combine in March - Levis casually rocket-launched passes during his recent pro day. He also earned academic all-American honors last season."He has a great arm, even by NFL standards," a veteran scout told me."He's a physical quarterback who drives the ball with his legs. I know he's been working on his mechanics too. … They were down in a lot of games. He's playing from behind. … He'll learn how to layer the ball within the confines of an NFL game. We'd have to clean some things up. But I think he knows that too. And that's not a bad thing."He's also faced an onslaught of personal criticisms from pundits like Colin Cowherd, who called him a "meathead" with "no self-awareness" after Levis posted shirtless photos."I don't think everybody really got to see the true him," said Robinson, whom the Giants drafted in the second round last year. "They didn't see the best version of him. He got smarter. Anytime he makes a mistake, he's trying to do it 10 times better. He wanted to be perfect." Stacy Revere / Getty ImagesLevis earned a reputation as a tireless worker within the Kentucky program, and he still has room for growth after only playing two full seasons in college."His practice preparation habits are truly game-like," Coen said."Everything he does in practice - the speed, the tempo, the communication, the level of expectations - all of that. It's consistent every single meeting, every single day. The thing you're never gonna have to do with Will is ask for more. If anything, you have to tone it down a little bit. Wouldn't you as a coach want that?"And what about the brashness that critics perceive as arrogant?"That's just Will," Robinson said. "Once you get to know him, you realize he's a really caring dude. Nothing that he says ever comes from a bad place. At the end of the day, he just wants to be the best. I loved playing with him. Loved having him as my quarterback.""It's getting taken the wrong way," Coen said. "He's so wired, it's ridiculous. I mean, his arm talent is truly through the roof. There's some similar talent (to Josh Allen and Justin Herbert). He's your franchise quarterback."Jordan Schultz is theScore's NFL insider and senior NBA reporter. The 2023 NFL Draft is only two weeks away. Our latest first-round projections feature another change at the top of the draft, and a few of the marquee quarterbacks wait a little longer than expected to hear their names called.Bryce Young, QB, AlabamaThe buzz continues to build for Young to Carolina with the Alabama star overtaking C.J. Stroud as the betting favorite to go No. 1. The only knock on Young is his size, but the 2022 Heisman winner has shown throughout his career that his 5-foot-10, 203-pound frame holds up to contact. Young's tape is filled with endless highlights - the type of talent that will make him an instant fan favorite for the Panthers. Will Anderson Jr., EDGE, AlabamaNobody seems to know what the Texans are going to do at No. 2, and recent smoke about a surprise pick intensified when ESPN's Adam Schefter said he wasn't convinced Houston would take a quarterback. That seems unlikely to us, but let's entertain the possibility. Selecting the best defensive player in the draft and circling back on a quarterback later could be a savvy move if the board falls perfectly.Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas TechThe Texas Tech standout continues to rise up the draft boards. Wilson has ideal size and physical traits for an NFL edge rusher and uses his explosiveness to attack the quarterback. While he needs to work on his performance in the run game, Wilson is the type of defensive difference-maker the Cardinals desperately need.C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio StateThe Texans not taking a quarterback indirectly benefits their AFC South rivals. Instead of the top passers flying off the board early, the Colts are able to sit tight and land Stroud. This would be a dream scenario for Indy.Jalen Carter, DL, GeorgiaCarter's drop doesn't last long with the Seahawks taking the Georgia star at No. 5. While his charges for reckless driving and racing in connection with a fatal crash in January will keep him off some draft boards, Seattle has shown in the past that it's willing to take some chances. There's no question Carter is among the most talented players in this class and could be a menace on the interior for Pete Carroll.Devon Witherspoon, CB, IllinoisThis pick feels like something of a lock after Detroit traded former No. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah to Atlanta. Landing Witherspoon after adding several free agents at cornerback would be a heck of a way to overhaul a major position of need.Anthony Richardson, QB, FloridaDon't be fooled by the Jimmy Garoppolo signing - the Raiders are still in the market for a quarterback. However, the former 49ers passer gives Las Vegas the flexibility to take Richardson and keep him sidelined for the season as he adjusts to the professional game. The former Florida quarterback has all the physical tools to be a star in the league, but he remains a work in progress with fewer than 400 career passes in college.Nolan Smith, EDGE, GeorgiaThe Falcons have quietly done some nice work overhauling the roster this offseason, most recently acquiring Okudah from the Lions. Adding a starter opposite A.J. Terrell at corner should clear the way for Atlanta to address its other glaring need on defense. Smith is an athletic freak who should be drafted much higher than people think.Darnell Wright, RT, TennesseeThe Bears need a massive upgrade on the offensive line to keep Justin Fields healthy this year. Wright certainly checks off the "massive" part; the 6-foot-5, 333-pounder is an absolute mauler at the right tackle position. While he doesn't feature the elite athleticism most teams crave in a top-10 lineman, his physicality more than makes up for it.Lukas Van Ness, EDGE, IowaPhilly can likely be expected to focus on building in the trenches with their first-round picks, regardless of whether there's an immediate need. Van Ness is an versatile rusher whose ability to get after the quarterback both from the edge and on the interior could help him earn a spot in the Eagles' defensive line rotation right away.Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio StateThe 2022 offensive rookie of the year, Garrett Wilson, is on record saying his collegiate teammate Smith-Njigba is better than both Wilson and Chris Olave. That's incredibly high praise for the latest product of the Ohio State receiver factory. Smith-Njigba is an incredibly polished route-runner who should partner with Treylon Burks to give the Titans a talented set of young receivers. Will Levis, QB, KentuckyThe Texans' gamble of passing on a quarterback at No. 2 pays off in this scenario as the last of the consensus top-four passers falls to them at No. 12. Levis needs time to develop, but it's worth taking a swing on a QB with his rare physical tools in this spot.Peter Skoronski, OT, NorthwesternIt feels as though Skoronski is among the safest picks in the draft. The Northwestern star doesn't have the desired length for a top-end tackle but does possess ideal size for the position. His awareness as a lineman is off the charts and he should immediately address the Jets' offensive line issues.Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio StateMaking a change at coordinator was the first step on the Patriots' path back to NFL-caliber offensive football. Step two is addressing their need on the offensive line. Johnson would take care of that as a Day 1 starter and long-term impact player at tackle.Michael Mayer, TE, Notre DameThe best all-around prospect in a very strong tight end class lands in Green Bay. Mayer uses his body as well as anybody in the draft, boxing out defenders to present very clear targets for his quarterback. Jordan Love looks like the new quarterback for the Packers, and a reliable tight end like Mayer should be a huge benefit to him.Christian Gonzalez, CB, OregonGonzalez has a chance to be drafted much earlier, but you won't hear any complaints from the Commanders if the board shakes out like this. Washington would be thrilled to add a defensive back with his natural cover skills at this point in the first round.Broderick Jones, OT, GeorgiaThe Steelers need significant changes to their offensive line, and Jones being available at No. 17 is great value for Pittsburgh. The Georgia standout is far from a finished product but possesses the power and physicality to be a starter from Week 1.Bryan Bresee, DL, ClemsonThe Lions continue to build up the defense with their second of two first-round picks, this time making an important addition up front. Bresee could be the perfect interior complement to 2022 first-rounder Aidan Hutchinson on the edge.Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn StateThe Bucs have needs all over the field, but Porter Jr. should help shore up the secondary immediately. The Penn State star and son of the former Steelers star would be a Week 1 starter for a defensive backfield that ranked 28th in the league last year in passer rating allowed.Jordan Addison, WR, USCFinding a slot receiver to round out an otherwise excellent group of pass-catchers should be a priority for Seattle after making a splash on defense early. Addison would be a perfect fit alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and Carroll's USC connections might make this an even more sensible match.*Miami Dolphins forfeit 1st-round selection (No. 21) as punishment for multiple violations of the NFL's anti-tampering policyBijan Robinson, RB, TexasThe Chargers ignore the "don't take a running back in the first round" maxim and grab the uber-talented Robinson out of Texas. After Austin Ekeler requested a trade if his contract demands aren't met, this pick makes too much sense for Los Angeles.Deonte Banks, CB, MarylandThe Ravens won't have to force a receiver pick after paying up to bring in Odell Beckham Jr. as a free agent. Banks could be the starting cornerback opposite Marlon Humphrey as a rookie.Quentin Johnston, WR, TCUThe Vikings opt for a big target to replace Adam Thielen alongside Justin Jefferson. At 6-foot-3 with a 40.5-inch vertical, the TCU star gives Kirk Cousins a huge catch radius to look for in the red zone.Brian Branch, DB, AlabamaJacksonville's offense is pretty much set. The other side of the ball is a completely different story. Branch is a do-it-all defensive back who could make an impact either as a traditional safety or, as he was so often deployed at Alabama, in a slot corner role.Joe Tippmann, C, WisconsinThe Giants continue building a young, talented offensive line by adding a foundational piece for the future. Tippmann is a tall, athletic center who should bring stability in protecting Daniel Jones.Dalton Kincaid, TE, UtahKincaid is a dynamic tight end. After the free-agency departure of Dalton Schultz, he could be the final piece of the puzzle for the Cowboys' new-look passing attack.Zay Flowers, WR, Boston CollegeOne of the league's best offensive units gets even better with the incredibly quick receiver from Boston College. Flowers has played both outside and in the slot and should shine immediately with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs.Darnell Washington, TE, GeorgiaThe Bengals fill their massive hole at tight end with a massive human being. An incredible athlete for his size, Washington could contribute both as an in-line blocker and as an imposing complement to Cincinnati's already outstanding receiving corps.Myles Murphy, EDGE, ClemsonMurphy is the type of super-athletic edge-rusher that can help fill the void left by the departure of Marcus Davenport. The Clemson star put up 14.5 sacks over his final two collegiate seasons while also posting double-digit tackles for loss.Calijah Kancey, DL, PittKancey's size will limit his effectiveness in the run game, but there's no denying the juice he brings as a pass-rusher. The Eagles can justify doubling down on defensive linemen in the first round for a talent like this. Will McDonald IV, EDGE, Iowa StateThe Chiefs add another talented pass-rusher to the fold with McDonald. Not only does the Cyclones star get to the passer, but he also capitalizes on his opportunities, with 10 forced fumbles in his collegiate career.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New York Giants will start their offseason program without running back Saquon Barkley and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.Barkley won't sign his franchise tender before the Giants' workouts begin Monday, making him ineligible to participate, according to Newsday's Kim Jones.Lawrence won't report to the start of the Giants' offseason program due to his contract situation, sources tell Pat Leonard of The Daily News. The 25-year-old Lawrence was named second-team All-Pro in 2022, finishing the season with 68 tackles and 7.5 sacks. He is set to play next year on the fifth-year option, which is slated at $12.4 million. The Giants placed the franchise tag on Barkley in March after he returned to form last season, totaling 1,650 scrimmage yards and 10 scores. The deadline for the two sides to agree to a long-term extension is July 17. Otherwise, Barkley will have to play on the one-year tag that's worth just over $10 million or sit out the 2023 campaign.Barkley was one of the NFL's most dynamic playmakers as a rookie in 2018, but injuries impeded his production in 2020 and 2021. Billionaire Jeff Bezos won't attempt to purchase the Washington Commanders, a source told ESPN's John Keim.Bezos, the founder of Amazon, reportedly hired investment firm Allen & Co. to evaluate a potential bid for the Commanders.A source close to Bezos indicated in March that current team owners Dan and Tanya Snyder were blocking him from bidding, although multiple sources close to the Snyders apparently denied the allegations.Bezos, who has a net worth of $125 billion, is the owner of the Washington Post, which has published several investigative stories over the past few years regarding Dan Snyder's tenure with the franchise. Two groups have reportedly formally submitted bids of around $6 billion for the Commanders. The first includes Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris, Mitchell Rales, and former NBA star Earvin "Magic" Johnson. The Indianapolis Colts appear unlikely to make a move for Lamar Jackson.Head coach Shane Steichen shot down the possibility of exploring a trade for a quarterback like the Baltimore Ravens star Wednesday."We're focused on the draft, and I'm focused on the players that are in the building right now," Steichen said, according to The Athletic's Zak Keefer.Colts general manager Chris Ballard said last month that the team would consider making a move for Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the former league MVP and are adamant they want to retain him. Jackson said he requested a trade on March 2 due to the team's lack of interest in meeting his value.Indianapolis holds the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and may use the selection on a quarterback. The team reportedly brought in C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, and Hendon Hooker for visits. The Colts' internal options include Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger, and Gardner Minshew, who signed as a free agent this offseason.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Six weeks ago, Bryce Young was still the favorite to go first overall at a time when the Bears held the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. As expected, the Bears subsequently traded the pick - to the Panthers - and as we sit here on April 12, Young is the favorite to go first overall. Stroud get bet as high as -350 to be the top selection on the assumption that the Panthers wanted the Ohio State product. When it comes to NFL draft betting, sometimes patience - and not panic-betting an odds move - is the best practice.Maybe you've already bet Young at better prices than are currently available and can take a piece of Stroud at +210, thereby being profitable no matter which quarterback is announced first. Otherwise, you're still sitting on the sideline in the first overall pick market - which is OK, by the way. With Young's move to be a significant favorite, we should ask two questions:

Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is joining USC as a senior offensive analyst, the school announced Tuesday. The Cardinals parted ways with Kingsbury in January after four seasons, including a 4-13 record in 2022.USC hired Kingsbury as the program's offensive coordinator in December 2018, but he resigned after a month following interest from NFL teams. The Trojans replaced Kingsbury with Graham Harrell.Kingsbury served as head coach of Texas Tech, his alma mater, from 2013-18, compiling a 35-40 record and a 1-2 mark in bowl games. The Texas native struggled to find success on the NFL sideline. Kingsbury posted a .500 record in his second season in Arizona after going 5-10-1 in 2019 to begin his pro coaching career. The club appeared to turn the corner in 2021, finishing the regular season with 11 victories and earning a playoff berth. However, the Cardinals stopped trending upward, missing the postseason in 2022 following a season-ending injury to quarterback Kyler Murray. Kingsbury's tenure in Arizona concluded with a 28-37-1 overall record. At least six NFL teams have asked the Arizona Cardinals about acquiring their No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 draft, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Cardinals are undecided on whether to trade the coveted selection or keep it, Schefter adds. The Tennessee Titans were previously reported to be exploring a trade up to the third overall pick.Any team trading up to No. 3 would likely select one of the premier quarterback prospects in this year's draft class. That team would also jump ahead of the Indianapolis Colts, who could target a signal-caller with their pick at No. 4.The Carolina Panthers hold the first overall pick after making a trade with the Chicago Bears while the Houston Texans own the second selection. Both teams are strong candidates to select a quarterback. The top signal-callers in this year's draft are Bryce Young, C.J. He began the 2021 campaign with the Cleveland Browns but parted ways with the club midway through the season. The 30-year-old scored five touchdowns in eight regular season appearances with the Rams. He helped them win the Super Bowl, catching 21 passes for 288 yards and two TDs in the postseason. The three-time Pro Bowler visited the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants in December. He was also scheduled to visit the New York Jets this week. Those four teams, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs, were linked to Beckham this offseason.Baltimore's quarterback situation remains in flux after the club placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson in March. Jackson later posted on Twitter that he had requested a trade after the Ravens weren't "interested in meeting" the dual-threat's value.Beckham appears to believe that Jackson will remain in Charm City after posting a photo of his son in a Ravens jersey. The deadline for Jackson and the Ravens to agree to a long-term deal is July 17.Beckham will join a receiver room that includes Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay among others.Beckham took the NFL by storm after being drafted 12th overall in 2014 by the Giants, racking up at least 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. Former Cincinnati Bengals passer Carson Palmer believes no quarterback is better than Joe Burrow - not even reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes."I think Joe is the best quarterback in the league," Palmer said on "The QB Room" podcast. "I know Patrick is phenomenal, but I just think Joe's more consistent. He's more consistent. He's more accountable to run the system and the play that's called and not feel like: 'Well, he didn't win last time and get open for me, so I'm going do it with my feet,' and then before you know it, you're sacked for a 4-yard loss because you tried to make two or three guys miss."Palmer added that Burrow's all-around game puts him on top of his fellow signal-callers."Talk about not having a weakness - mentally strong, physically tough, accurate, can throw it far enough, fast enough, gets the ball out quick, and then he can actually do a lot with his legs," Palmer said.He added: "I think he's as athletic outside the pocket and can do a lot of the same things Patrick Mahomes has done. He hasn't done it and showed it yet - he's played more within his system and style."Burrow has gotten the better of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, posting a 3-1 career record against Mahomes. The Bengals quarterback won his first three starts against the Chiefs, including an AFC title game win to go to Super Bowl LVI in 2022. However, Mahomes avenged the loss with a conference championship victory against Burrow this past season.Burrow threw for 9,086 yards, 69 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions over the last two seasons, leading the Bengals to back-to-back AFC North titles. The former No. 1 pick has posted a 22-10 regular-season record and 5-2 mark in the playoffs since 2021.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce admitted that the team's Super Bowl LVII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs "played a factor" in his return for a 13th season."I do think that when you go that far and get that close and it doesn't happen, I think your emotions and energy get going, and you want to do that," Kelce said Friday on "The Rich Eisen Show.""I do think losing the Super Bowl does play a factor, but I think ultimately, I still want to play football," he added. His brother, Travis Kelce, won family bragging rights after the Chiefs' 38-35 win over the Eagles. The Eagles orchestrated a spectacular 2022 campaign and didn't suffer a loss until the middle of November. Philadelphia concluded the regular season with a 14-3 mark and captured the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed. The 35-year-old Kelce earned his fifth first-team All-Pro and sixth Pro Bowl nod last season. He allowed only one sack and no quarterback hits over the last two seasons, according to PFF.Kelce signed a one-year, $14.25-million contract to remain the league's highest-paid center in March. The New York Jets bolstered their defensive line Thursday, announcing they have signed veteran lineman Quinton Jefferson.Jefferson set career highs with 5.5 sacks and six tackles for loss with the Seattle Seahawks last season. He also racked up 29 tackles in 17 games. The Seahawks released him this offseason to save $4.48 million in cap space. The 30-year-old had one of his best games of the 2022 campaign against the Jets in Week 17, amassing 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hits to help Seattle beat New York.Jefferson said he's excited about New York's defense ahead of the 2023 season, adding that the potential arrival of quarterback Aaron Rodgers will have a major impact on both sides of the ball."It is a great opportunity to showcase my skill set and to get back into a defense that has an attacking front," Jefferson told Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. "I think the sky is the limit with that group. I think we are about to take over the division."He added: "Then when you add in Aaron Rodgers and that type of offense with him leading it, you already know that that is a defensive dream."A fifth-round pick in 2016, Jefferson spent his first four NFL seasons with the Seahawks before one-year stints with the Buffalo Bills (2020) and Las Vegas Raiders (2021). He rejoined Seattle last season on a two-year contract. The Jets, who lost linemen Sheldon Rankins and Nathan Shepherd in free agency, reportedly also showed interest in Calais Campbell before he signed with the Atlanta Falcons last week. They roster defensive linemen Quinnen Williams and John Franklin-Myers, among others.New York missed the playoffs for the 12th straight season last year despite boasting a top-five defense. Dallas Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks doesn't envision himself competing for targets now that he's teammates with CeeDee Lamb."CeeDee, you're talking about a guy that's been electric since the moment that he stepped into this league. Tyreek Hill can't wait to play his revenge game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver said he'll make his former team pay when they face off at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023."Chiefs Kingdom, when the Miami Dolphins come to Arrowhead Stadium this year, guess what we (are) going to do?" I'm gonna be y'all's worst enemy that day."You better change the signals. I know every signal you all got," he added. The NFL is expected to announce its 2023 schedule in May.The Chiefs traded Hill, their top wide receiver for years, to the Dolphins during the 2022 offseason as part of a blockbuster move. The seven-time Pro Bowler then became football's highest-paid pass-catcher, signing a four-year deal worth $120 million in Miami. The two teams didn't play each other last season. The 29-year-old added that he plans to hang up his cleats after the 2025 campaign."I'm going to finish out this contract with the Dolphins, and then I'm gonna call it quits," he said, according to uSTADIUM.Hill had an immediate impact on the Dolphins, leading the club with 119 catches and 1,710 yards to go along with seven touchdowns. Miami earned its first playoff berth since 2016.Meanwhile, Kansas City did just fine without its former No. 1 wideout, posting a 14-3 record en route to winning the second Super Bowl title of the Patrick Mahomes era in February."I was watching the Super Bowl, and I was just really happy for my guys," Hill said. "Even though I'm not part of it, I still feel like I'm part of it."He added: "Watching Pat and (Travis) Kelce win, watching coach (Andy) Reid get another Super Bowl ring to add to his amazing head coaching career. Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said the franchise is open to the possibility of selecting a quarterback in this month's draft."It depends on the board, it really does," DeCosta said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "I mean, I'd have to say yes because we have quarterbacks in our top 31."DeCosta's comments come after Lamar Jackson revealed last week that he requested to be traded last month. The GM declined to discuss Wednesday whether the Ravens have been in contact with the former MVP since his post.Only Anthony Brown is under contract with Baltimore as Jackson received the non-exclusive franchise tag and Tyler Huntley is a restricted free agent. The 2023 NFL Draft is expected to feature a few talented passers, including Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis. Baltimore owns the No. 22 overall pick. However, in addition to the headliners, DeCosta believes there's even more talent at the position."I would say there's probably more than four guys that can be significant quarterbacks in this league in this draft class," he said.Despite the uncertainty under center, it's believed the Ravens will likely select a wideout or a cornerback with their first-rounder, per Hensley.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler wants to play where he can feel appreciated."When it comes down to what's going on with the whole trade and all that stuff, really, look, we're trying to find a long-term partner," Ekeler said Tuesday on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, per NFL.com's Nick Shook. "That's what we want. We want someone who wants to sign us for a few years and sees us not just in the immediate future, but a couple years out.He added, "I guess the worst-case scenario right now out of all of it, I'll come back and I'll have to play for the Chargers for a year and bet on myself and then be a free agent next year."Ekeler requested a trade in March, believing he is underpaid. L.A. granted the dual-threat tailback permission to speak with other teams after discussions about an extension broke down.He is entering the final season of a four-year, $24.5-million contract signed in March 2020 and will earn $6.25 million in base salary, according to Spotrac. The dynamic halfback said he "kind of got punched in the face" when the Chargers expressed a lack of interest in negotiating a long-term deal. Ekeler still wants to be a Charger despite feeling disrespected. He also said he doesn't hold any ill will toward the club.Ekeler has racked up 7,175 scrimmage yards and 63 total touchdowns since joining L.A. as an undrafted free agent in 2017. The Nebraska native led the league in total touchdowns in each of the past two seasons with 20 in 2021 and 18 in 2022.With less than a month before the NFL draft, Ekeler is one of several veteran running backs on the market despite being under contract. Ezekiel Elliott, Leonard Fournette, and Kareem Hunt are among the current free-agent options at the position.Ekeler wouldn't rule out the possibility of finding a resolution to remain with the Chargers. "Who knows how it's going to play out?" he said.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has shopped quarterback Mac Jones for a potential trade, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.Florio listed the Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Commanders as possible destinations. The Patriots hold the 14th overall selection in the upcoming draft, and have $12.9 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap. Jones is signed through the 2024 season with a fifth-year option for 2025. He has a $4.2-million cap hit next season, according to Spotrac.Jones threw for 2,997 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, finishing with a 6-8 record in 14 starts last season. The 2021 first-round pick missed three games due to an ankle injury, and the Patriots went 2-1 in those three contests with quarterbacks Bailey Zappe and Brian Hoyer leading the charge.Jones' play last season was a step back from his rookie campaign in which he led New England to a 10-7 record and a playoff spot. The 24-year-old's drop-off in play could be related to the infrastructure that surrounded Jones in 2022. His offensive coordinator in 2021, Josh McDaniels, left to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, leaving Matt Patricia as the offensive play-caller.New England's offensive weapons did not help Jones last season, as Jakobi Meyers was the only pass catcher to eclipse 800 receiving yards.Jones was the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is 16-15 in 31 career starts, throwing for 6,798 yards with 36 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Top NFL draft prospect Jalen Carter is declining to visit any team selecting outside the top 10 in the 2023 NFL Draft, his agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter."I'm confident Jalen will go in the top 10," Rosenhaus said. "He's a good person, a family man, loves football, and is a generational talent."The defensive tackle is considered one of the top prospects in this year's draft after posting a dominant career at Georgia. However, off-field issues have affected his draft stock. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and racing in connection with a Jan. 15 crash that killed a Georgia teammate and staff member hours after the Bulldogs celebrated their second straight national championship with a parade and ceremony.Carter was sentenced to 12 months of probation, a $1,000 fine, and 80 hours of community service. His attorney, Kim Stephens, said Carter did not cause a car wreck, adding that his client had not been drinking alcohol and was not under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances, according to ESPN.Carter weighed 323 pounds at Georgia's pro day in March, nine pounds heavier than he was at the NFL combine in February. He was a limited participant at the pro day, opting to do only position drills.A report from Vic Tafur of The Athletic recently indicated that the Las Vegas Raiders had already crossed Carter off their draft board. Las Vegas has the No. 7 pick. Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels denied the report, saying his team is doing its due diligence on Carter, per Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.Carter, who's expected to attend this year's draft in Kansas City on April 27, is visiting the Chicago Bears on Monday. He previously met with the Philadelphia Eagles. Chicago and Philadelphia own the No. 9 and No. 10 picks in 2023, respectively. The Detroit Lions selected Carter sixth overall in theScore's latest mock draft.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Tennessee Titans are exploring a trade for the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, reports NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah. The No. 3 selection currently belongs to the Arizona Cardinals. Tennessee owns the 11th overall choice. Jeremiah added that the Las Vegas Raiders, who have the seventh pick, could also potentially move up."This is just people around the league who said do not sleep on ... the Tennessee Titans," Jeremiah said on "Move the Sticks." "The two teams to keep an eye on with the trade-ups were the Raiders and the Titans."A move into the top three would allow the Titans to select a premier quarterback prospect. The Carolina Panthers (No. 1 overall) and Houston Texans (No. 2) are also expected to draft a signal-caller.C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis are the top quarterback prospects in 2023.The Cardinals signed Kyler Murray to a five-year extension last season and aren't expected to pursue a quarterback. Acquiring more assets by trading the No. 3 pick would make sense for an Arizona roster with holes on both sides of the ball.Tennessee has had Ryan Tannehill under center over the last four seasons. However, the 34-year-old, whose contract has a $36.6-million cap hit in 2023, is in the last year of his deal. The Titans drafted quarterback Malik Willis in the third round last year, but Willis struggled as a rookie, failing to throw a touchdown in three starts. Tennessee went 1-4 in 2022 with Willis and veteran journeyman Joshua Dobbs at quarterback after Tannehill went down with an injury in the final stretch of the season. The team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018.The Titans hired new general manager Ran Carthon in January. Carthon was with the San Francisco 49ers when they traded up from 12th to third overall to draft quarterback Trey Lance in 2021.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly believes the Buffalo Bills can provide quarterback Josh Allen with better backfield help."Josh can't do everything by himself, and I hope they find a way to get a star running back," Kelly told News 10 NBC's Jackson Roberts this week. The Bills have not had a 1,000-yard rusher since Allen entered the league as the No. 7 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Running back Devin Singletary's 870 yards in 2021 are the most any player has had for Buffalo with Allen at the helm, and Singletary signed with the Houston Texans in free agency."I always thought Singletary was pretty good, I just didn't think (Buffalo) used him enough," Kelly added.Despite the lack of a star running mate, Allen has been great on the ground. The 26-year-old has eclipsed 420 yards and six touchdowns every year, including back-to-back seasons with over 760 yards."When you've got a guy as good as Josh Allen, you tend to probably get a little greedy," Kelly said. "You want to use him more than you probably should, but (offensive coordinator) Ken Dorsey is doing a great job."Buffalo's projected backfield is expected to feature a combination of former New England Patriots runner Damien Harris, who arrived via free agency, and James Cook, the team's second-round pick in last year's draft."I just hope that I would get that running game going to take some of the pressure off him," said Kelly. The Bills could still add to their running back room before the season starts. Free agents like Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette are unsigned, and they could use one of their six draft picks to select a back.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan believes that his team has finally found the winning formula."The vibe I get is that, you know, I think we've cracked the code," Khan recently told team reporter John Oehser. He added, "We've got a great head coach, we got a great general manager, and we have a great quarterback. And that's the trifecta for success in the NFL."In their first year under head coach Doug Pederson last season, the Trevor Lawrence-led Jaguars posted a 9-8 record en route to winning the AFC South and reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 campaign. Jacksonville staged the third-largest comeback in NFL postseason history to edge the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round before suffering a divisional-round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It was only the team's second playoff appearance since Khan bought the franchise in 2012. The Jaguars played in the AFC title game five years ago but posted a 15-50 record in the following four seasons combined."It's taken a while, but I'm glad it's happening," Khan said. "I'm glad for me. I'm glad for all the fans."Jacksonville drafted first overall in each of the last two years. The team currently rosters nine former first-round picks, including Lawrence, who earned his first career Pro Bowl nod in 2022.The Jaguars haven't had back-to-back winning seasons since 2004-05.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. A new playing surface has been installed at MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and New York Jets, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. The new playing surface is believed to be an improved synthetic turf that will decrease the number of injuries, notes Raanan. The Giants and Jets will now play on an updated version of FieldTurf, which is the first multilayer dual-polymer monofilament fiber. The stadium's previous turf was widely criticized by players. Multiple players suffered torn ACL injuries at MetLife Stadium in recent years, including Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard and former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Kyle Fuller in 2022. In 2020, five San Francisco 49ers players sustained lower-body injuries in a road game against the Jets, including Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas, who suffered a torn ACL.Julian Love, a Giants captain in 2022 who signed with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, said last year that, "the stats have shown we are on one of the worst fields in the league."MetLife Stadium was one of six NFL stadiums that used slit film turf last season.Giants owner John Mara told reporters earlier this week that the team's practice facility is also getting the new turf.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc. New York Giants owner John Mara knows how quickly things can change in the NFL, and he offered some advice to head coach Brian Daboll, who overachieved in his first season as the team's head coach last year."We kid him," Mara said, according to ESPN. "I mean, right now he's Bono walking around New York City. But I've told him, I've said: 'In this business, it doesn't take long to go from Bono to Bozo. So don't get your head too big right now.' But he has been great."Daboll, the Buffalo Bills' offensive coordinator from 2018-21, is the reigning Coach of the Year.He joined a Giants team that won four games in 2021 and helped New York finish the 2022 campaign with a 9-7-1 record, good for the No. 6 seed in the NFC. In their first playoff appearance since the 2016 season, the Giants beat the Minnesota Vikings on the road before suffering a divisional-round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles."He likes to go to Rangers games at the Garden, and they put his picture up there, and he gets these standing ovations week after week," Mara added. "So it's a pretty cool thing to see."New York hasn't recorded back-to-back winning seasons since 2011-12.The Giants gave quarterback Daniel Jones a four-year extension and placed the franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley this offseason. The club also bolstered its roster by adding tight end Darren Waller, wide receiver Parris Campbell, and linebacker Bobby Okereke, among others.Copyright © 2023 Score Media Ventures Inc.
