The Detroit Lions don't view Jared Goff as a transitional quarterback.Goff is believed to be the team's starting quarterback heading into 2023, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Lions plan to hold on to Goff for the future and don't view him as a bridge quarterback, Rapoport adds. The Lions have been viewed as a potential quarterback landing spot in the 2023 NFL Draft. The franchise owns the Los Angeles Rams' first-round pick, which is currently slotted in the top five.Detroit has the choice to escape Goff's contract in 2023 for the cost of a $10-million dead cap hit, per Spotrac. The 28-year-old carries a $20.65-million salary next season.Goff has led the Lions to a 5-7 record in his second season with the franchise. The signal-caller is in the midst of an impressive four-game stretch in which he's thrown for five touchdowns to zero interceptions. Detroit has also won three of four during that span.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Tom Brady isn't ruling out anything for the 2023 season. All options are on the table for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, who is slated to become a free agent this offseason, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The legendary quarterback briefly retired last offseason before returning to the Buccaneers for a 23rd professional season.Brady has Tampa Bay atop the NFC South at 6-6 entering Week 14. While the club has struggled offensively at times, the veteran quarterback has managed to post 16 touchdowns to three interceptions. He's also completed 66.2% of his passes for 3,332 yards. However, Brady's contract with the Bucs expires following the 2022 campaign. The 45-year-old joined the franchise as a free agent in 2020, leading them to two postseason appearances and a Super Bowl victory thus far.If Brady opts to retire, the decorated signal-caller will head to the booth to join Fox Sports on a reported 10-year contract to be the network's lead NFL analyst.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Baltimore Ravens activated running back J.K. Dobbins and safety Marcus Williams off injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team announced Saturday.Dobbins underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in October and was placed on injured reserve. He missed the last six games. The 23-year-old has battled injuries since being drafted in the second round in 2020.He missed the entirety of the 2021 season with a torn ACL and missed the Ravens' first two games of this season with a knee injury before undergoing surgery.Meanwhile, Williams returns to the active roster for the first time since suffering a broken wrist in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore signed the veteran defensive back to a five-year, $70-million contract during free agency in March.Williams racked up 33 tackles and three interceptions in five games prior to the injury. In a corresponding move, the team waived running back Mike Davis and placed cornerback Daryl Worley on injured reserve. The 29-year-old Davis signed with the Ravens in May. He has eight carries for 18 yards this season.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The New Orleans Saints have been fined $350,000 for Cameron Jordan allegedly faking an injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.Additionally, Jordan and his position coach Ryan Nielsen were each fined $50,000, while head coach Dennis Allen was fined $100,000, per Florio. The Saints released a statement Saturday denying the allegations."Defensive end Cameron Jordan felt foot pain following a third-down play and sought medical attention. He entered the blue medical tent and was examined by the medical staff and, following the examination, he was taped and able to finish the game."He had an MRI performed the following day in New Orleans and was confirmed that he suffered an acute mid-foot sprain in his left foot. He has been at the facility each day receiving treatment for his injury he suffered on the play. The Saints will appeal the fines through the proper channels and believe the allegations will be proved incorrect."The NFL issued a memo Dec. 2 warning teams about potential fines if the league concludes a player faked an injury.Cameras showed Jordan received direction from the Saints' sideline during Monday's contest to go down and fake an ailment, Florio added. The alleged incident occurred in the fourth quarter after a third-and-17 play. Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was lining up for a fourth-down play when Jordan took a knee and pointed at his left leg.Jordan took to social media Saturday to express his frustration with the fine."Are fines made by NFL open to (the) public?" Jordan tweeted. "I just feel like this should be public knowledge. 'Cause some of the fines are silly, but this one (is) ridiculous. ... NFL just wanted a new Patek Aquanaut (watch) or something."The Buccaneers rallied from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Saints.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The player props are supposed to be supplemental bets where we zero in on the main element of your handicap for each game. So, it was a little strange that we hit eight out of our 10 player props in Week 13 on a lackluster Sunday against the spread.Mark Andrews over 4.5 receptionsIn the first nine contests of 2021, Mark Andrews received nine-plus targets from Lamar Jackson just twice and made five catches just twice. In the eight games after Jackson was hurt, the star tight end had nine-plus targets in six of seven contests. Tyler Huntley started all but one of those games. When Jackson went out of the game with the Broncos last week, head coach John Harbaugh said the Ravens would tailor the offense to Huntley's strengths, which will likely mean an even bigger reliance on Andrews.Deshaun Watson under 222.5 passing yardsLet's take our profits from fading Watson last week and roll them over to this week. The Texans quarterback will be better than 12 of 22 for 131 yards and an interception, but don't expect the Browns to have him throw much more in his second game. Instead, they'll continue to use the ground game, especially with Amari Cooper showing up on the injury report mid-week.D'Andre Swift over 63.5 rushing + receiving yardsSpeaking of last week's success, we pinpointed Swift for an uptick in usage from his 8-10 touches after he was removed from the injury report. Swift had 18 against the Jaguars and gained 111 yards. We'll go back to the well here, too.Ezekiel Elliott under 66.5 rushing yardsAlthough the Texans continue to find ways to lose, their defense has improved statistically over the last four games, especially against the run. However, they're vulnerable against the pass without Derek Stingley. The 17-point spread suggests the Cowboys should win comfortably. If they do, it's because they score off turnovers, explosive plays in the passing game, or Tony Pollard runs. There's likely no need to grind Ezekiel Elliott on the ground, especially late.Derrick Henry over 13.5 receiving yardsThe Jaguars give up the third-most receptions (6.25) and second-most receiving yards (47.8) to opposing running backs. The Titans have made a conscious effort to get Derrick Henry the ball in space. He has 27 targets in Ryan Tannehill's last eight starts, going over this number six times.Garrett Wilson over 62.5 receiving yardsThe Jets will throw early and often again this week. While it might not work as well for Mike White versus Buffalo as it did against the poor defenses of Chicago and Minnesota, Garrett Wilson will continue to get a ton of targets. He had 15 balls thrown his way last week and caught eight for 92 yards in his previous meeting against a very good Bills unit.Jalen Hurts over 279.5 passing + rushing yardsJalen Hurts is 4-6 in this market this season, but he was four yards away in one game and six yards away in another. Hurts will beat you with a big game through the air or on the ground, so why try to pick one. When he doesn't, it's because the opposing offense grinds down the game clock. The Giants won't have long drives, and Hurts should have ample opportunity to rack up yardage with his arm and his legs.Greg Dulcich over 40.5 receiving yardsI can't tell you why the Broncos went away from their rookie tight end after he showed he was a legitimate weapon upon his first action midway through the season, but Russell Wilson targeted Greg Dulcich eight times in Baltimore last week. With Courtland Sutton out, Dulcich is the best option for Wilson in a game where he'll likely have to gain first downs through the air.D'Onta Foreman over 63.5 rushing yardsThe Panthers want to run the football almost exclusively, and they want to do it with D'Onta Foreman. He showed up on the injury report early this week but was deemed available Friday against the Seahawks' 28th-ranked run defense by yards per carry. You can count on one hand the number of tailbacks with four 100-plus-yard games in their last six contests. Foreman is one of them.George Kittle over 30.5 receiving yardsThe 49ers have spent the week determining what plays Brock Purdy is most comfortable with. At Iowa State, Purdy's favorite target was All-American tight end Charlie Kolar. One of Purdy's best throws in relief of Jimmy Garoppolo last week went to George Kittle. Look for more of those connections over the middle against Tampa Bay's weakened safety depth.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. If there’s a bad beat to be had, Matt will find it. Warning: Story contains coarse languageCam Newton is confident he could outplay any quarterback in the NFC South this season. While appearing on the "I Am Athlete" tour, the 33-year-old free agent was asked by retired wide receiver Brandon Marshall if he stands by the comment he made earlier this year that there aren't 32 quarterbacks better than him."There ain't a motherfucker really, like, I mean, shit, we can say the whole NFC South goddamn. 'Cause, shit," Newton responded. "Lemme stop."Newton has been out of the NFL this season after appearing in eight games with the Carolina Panthers last year, his second stint with the team. He completed 54.8% of his passes for 684 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions in those eight appearances. The Panthers recently parted ways with quarterback Baker Mayfield after a disappointing stint and have since turned to Sam Darnold as their starter. The Atlanta Falcons are also set to make a change at quarterback, reportedly benching Marcus Mariota after 13 starts and replacing him with rookie Desmond Ridder. The New Orleans Saints have had their share of struggles this season with Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston under center, while Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sitting at 6-6 after tying for a league-best 13-4 record last season.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL's Black Monday is an annual rite of passage, where numerous teams fire their head coaches immediately after the regular season ends. On Jan. 10, 2022, three got the axe: Chicago's Matt Nagy, Minnesota's Mike Zimmer, and Miami's Brian Flores. This season, a whole host of jobs are in jeopardy.Nathaniel Hackett, BroncosThis is already a done deal, as I reported last week. Here's what people have told me about the Broncos boss: Hackett's a nice guy, he's funny, players like him - all that good stuff. But he's not a head coach - not right now, at least. Perhaps the biggest issue has been his partnership with Russell Wilson, who signed one of the largest deals ever but has been one of the league's worst starting quarterbacks. Hackett was seen as a quarterback guru - Aaron Rodgers even publicly lauded him. Wilson's contract isn't one you can move on from, but Hackett's is, which is why he's the unofficial scapegoat. The whole being-well-liked thing is a nice luxury to have, but it's just that - a luxury. If it doesn't translate to winning, it doesn't matter. Do you think everyone in New England over the past two decades has liked Bill Belichick? Absolutely not. But his resume speaks for itself.Keep in mind that the Broncos hired Hackett before the Walton family bought the club in August. It's been intimated to me that the owners won't have an emotional attachment to him. Their highly successful business background at Walmart comes down to producing results. Hackett hasn't produced, and the plan remains to fire him, likely after the season ends.Dennis Allen, SaintsIt's not easy to replace Sean Payton, and Allen has predictably struggled in his first season as the lead man in New Orleans. As a veteran defensive coach, his biggest mistake this season has been sticking with quarterback Andy Dalton after Jameis Winston returned from injury. Winston may not be Joe Montana, but he's only 28 years old and scheduled to make $12.8 million next season. His talent far outweighs the 35-year-old "Red Rifle," and in the moribund NFC South, eight or nine wins is all that's needed to take the division. Sean Gardner / Getty ImagesI thought Monday night's loss to the Buccaneers said a lot about Allen and his lack of feel for the position. After three punts - THREE - in Tampa's territory, not to mention three chip-shot field goals, he told reporters: "When you play Tom Brady and have a chance to put him away, you gotta put him away." Allen's highly conservative approach isn't how you bury Brady.Through 13 games, Allen elected to kick five field goals with one or two yards to go while tied or leading, whereas Payton made that choice only three times in his last three seasons. Moreover, New Orleans is tied for the fewest fourth-down conversion attempts (eight) and has the second-most kicks (field goals and punts combined) inside opposing territory.Brandon Staley, ChargersStaley doesn't seem to realize just how talented a team he has. And despite being one of the league's youngest coaches, he doesn't seem to understand analytics very well, either. "Brandon's done some things that I can't explain because I wouldn't do them," a former NFL head coach told me. "I think his lack of experience has been a problem, and I don't think he's getting the most out of Justin Herbert. The late-game gambles on fourth down are kind of his thing. And it's always good when players trust you and know you believe in them, but I think someone needs to sit down with him and try and help him rein it back 10% to 20% when it comes to the aggressive calls like that."The Chargers are 24th in fourth-down conversion success (45.8%) despite being in the top five in attempts (24). Overall, they seem to suffer from stylistic restrictions and a lack of creativity; only the Brady-led Bucs run the ball less, and both teams throw it almost twice as often as they run it. As things stand, the Chargers are 6-6, coming off a crucial loss to the Raiders, and preparing for a Sunday night matchup against mighty Miami. With little wiggle room, it feels like we're at the end of the line if this team misses the playoffs yet again.Kliff Kingsbury, CardinalsThe Cardinals' disappointing season isn't on Kingsbury. I'm honestly not sure who'd succeed in his position given the slew of issues inside that building.Let's start at the top with owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Steve Keim. The complete absence of accountability - especially from Keim - is appalling. His lack of professionalism permeates the entire franchise. Norm Hall / Getty Images"Keim's a fan. He's been able to keep that job because of his relationship with Bidwill, but he's not a football savant or football mind. He's not a leader," a long-time personnel staffer told me.Kingsbury reports to Keim, who gave quarterback Kyler Murray a $240-million contract extension in July. Murray is enormously talented, but there are clearly growing pains that he - like many young quarterbacks - must overcome. Kingsbury is a good offensive mind stuck in a no-win situation for an owner and GM who haven't a clue how to properly run a professional organization.Lovie Smith, TexansI'm not really sure what Texans GM Nick Caserio expected of Smith this season, but he had to have known 1-10-1 was a distinct possibility. The Texans' roster is the most devoid of talent in football; second-year quarterback Davis Mills played himself out of the starting job but is now starting again.Smith is known as a culture-builder and leader of men. To me, that's precisely what the Texans need, and I'd like to see him get another couple of years to try and establish that culture. We know they're going to take a quarterback in the draft, and we know this is at least a three-year rebuild. Smith is the type of coach who needs time to imprint his values - not only onto the players but throughout the franchise. His seat is warm, but it shouldn't be.These next two guys are probably safe for now, but things could get hot next year:Josh McDaniels, RaidersMcDaniels has been a total disaster in Vegas. His team is consistently unprepared and undisciplined, which explains Thursday night's miserable 17-16 loss to the Rams - a contest for which Baker Mayfield had two days to prepare. It marked the fourth time this season the Raiders lost a game in which they held a double-digit lead."The bottom line is, until we figure out how to stop losing games with mistakes that we do ourselves, then it makes it very difficult to win," McDaniels told reporters. "So, you can't really win until you stop losing."The Elias Sports Bureau reported that the Rams' final series was the first time in 45 seasons that a team had a game-winning touchdown drive start with less than two minutes left and 98 yards to go.Teams are often a reflection of their coach. McDaniels' inability to relate to his players is a glaring issue. Additionally, his refusal to adapt his offense - an example we saw when he lost at home to Jeff Saturday’s lifeless Colts just a few weeks ago - and overall ineptitude as a leader is to blame for the Raiders' disastrous 2022 campaign. The former longtime Belichick assistant endured a wildly unsuccessful first head coaching stint with the Broncos in 2009-10 because he didn't do a good job of delegating responsibility to his staff. One thing I hear over and over from coaches is that the best often win football games because they operate their teams the way CEOs run businesses. Jeff Bottari / Getty Images"You have to balance so much," an NFL executive told me. "The more you're able to trust your staff, you're usually able to find what's really important and focus on that. But you need a great staff, and you need a staff that's in constant communication with each other. You also need the understanding that it's the head coach who everyone needs to respect. There's a lot that goes into winning throughout the week. … Josh is still learning how to do those things, because for so long it was Bill's show."Matt LaFleur, PackersIt's been a rough season for LaFleur and the 5-8 Packers. The Davante Adams trade set the offense back considerably, and reigning back-to-back MVP Rodgers has battled injuries and inconsistency. Green Bay ranks 15th in total offense, 23rd in scoring, and 14th in third-down efficiency. Oh, and the Pack is 31st on fourth down, converting just six of 21 attempts. Those are all sizable problems for LaFleur, who's built his reputation as an offensive whiz kid with innovative ideas that mesh well with modern football. Just how patient the front office will be with him after a losing season remains to be seen, but make no mistake: He's going to keep starting Rodgers over Jordan Love because he wants to salvage as many wins as possible. (Also, I'm not really sure he has a choice.)This is why having someone coaching for his job can be tricky. It'd behoove the organization to start the 24-year-old Love, either to cement his status as the team's long-term answer at QB or to increase his potential trade value. LaFleur is balancing life between hot water and the frozen tundra."We were certainly expected to be competing for a championship - and we are still in it, if we're able to dig our way back into this thing," GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters Monday. "We still kind of feel like we have the ability to do that. But this season has not gone as we expected."Jordan Schultz is theScore's NFL insider and senior NBA reporter. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a knee injury, head coach John Harbaugh announced Friday."It looks like it's going to be Tyler Huntley on Sunday," Harbaugh told reporters.Jackson - who was officially listed as doubtful - is reportedly dealing with a sprained PCL and the Ravens said Wednesday that they consider him week-to-week. He missed all three practice sessions ahead of the AFC North clash.Huntley led a game-winning drive last week against the Denver Broncos, pushing Baltimore to 8-4 and maintaining its spot atop the division thanks to a head-to-head win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The backup quarterback started four games for the Ravens in 2021, including a Week 17 loss to the Steelers in which he completed just 52% of his passes and threw two interceptions. In 11 career appearances, Huntley has thrown for 1,284 yards and three touchdowns against five interceptions while adding 358 yards and three scores on the ground.Meanwhile, Jackson has put together another solid season despite Baltimore's injury woes, throwing for 2,241 yards and 17 touchdowns against seven interceptions in 12 starts. He's also on pace for a third career 1,000-yard rushing campaign after putting up 764 yards.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

We learned a lesson about overleveraging on one game the hard way in Week 13. Both the spread and the teaser in Ravens-Broncos were lost early when Lamar Jackson was injured in the first half. Denver's nine points wouldn't have been a high bar to clear for a healthy Jackson. Meanwhile, the Jets (+3) dragged out a non-cover in the slowest, most absurd way possible, repeatedly flailing at the goal line.Even weirder Sunday - we actually won on a total, as Chiefs-Bengals ducked under 53 points.BET TYPELAST WEEKSEASON (units)ATS trio1-2 (-1.2)20-14-5 (+4.6)ML upset-16-7 (+4.2)Totals+14-9 (-5.9)Teasers-1.26-7 (-2.4)TOTAL-2.4+0.5Best bets ATSBills -10 (+100)Five weeks ago, the Bills built an early 11-point lead at New York after closing -10.5. Four weeks ago, they amassed a 17-point lead over the Vikings. Since those eventual losses, Buffalo has been strong away from home while the Jets have moved to Mike White at quarterback. He's been productive against two of the league's worst defenses but now has to go to Buffalo and cover a number lower than the teams' last meeting. I'll bet that the Bills, on extra rest, will be prepared to handle the Jets' defense and torment White as they did last season when they intercepted him four times.49ers -3 (-120)Bettors are cannonballing off of the 49ers' ship with Jimmy Garoppolo out for the regular season. My calculations would expect San Francisco to be -6.5 or -7 with its starter healthy, so there's a downgrade with Brock Purdy taking over. But I think this is too much of an adjustment. Purdy took Iowa State to heights the program had never seen. A year after he left, the Cyclones won one conference game. Purdy's measurables hurt his draft stock, but he played well with no notice against the Dolphins, executing in the red zone. He's surrounded by elite talent on the field and in his headset, so a full week of preparation should have him even more comfortable filling Garoppolo's shoes.Panthers +4The Seahawks' four-game win streak earlier this season is starting to fade in the rearview mirror. Their recent performances against the Buccaneers, Raiders, and Rams weren't inspiring, and their defense is still subpar. The Panthers should be able to execute their run-heavy approach to keep this game close, and if Sam Darnold can find a couple of key connections with DJ Moore, Carolina can win this game outright.Moneyline upset of the weekOur defined parameter for this section is underdogs paying at least +150.Browns +200It's hard to pick an upset on a week when there wasn't one. Underdogs went 1-13-1, with the Bengals' mini-upset over Kansas City the lone winner. We'll take a shot that Cincinnati is the victim of a surprise this week. The Browns' defensive line has tormented Cincinnati's offense in the teams' last five meetings. Four of those contests involved Joe Burrow playing some of the worst games of his career, while all of them saw Cincinnati's run game stall. Deshaun Watson's bad game in his return was predictable, but he should be better this week. If he can play to the level of Jacoby Brissett or Baker Mayfield in years past, the Browns can win their third straight game.Best total betVikings/Lions over 52In the teams' first matchup - a 28-24 Vikings win - Justin Jefferson had just 14 yards receiving, while an injury limited D'Andre Swift to 46 yards on 10 touches. Amon-Ra St. Brown had a modest 73 yards. As a result, the Vikings and Lions only combined for six red-zone trips, though they converted all of them into touchdowns.Detroit's 73.9% red-zone conversion rate is the best in the league, and the team has an even higher clip over its last three games. Minnesota is ninth with a 66.6% conversion rate in its last three games. Meanwhile, both defenses are in the bottom third of red-zone conversions. So with the stars likely to augment the yardage, red-zone trips should increase and points should come with it.Best 6-point teaserRavens +8 / Eagles -1The Giants have come back down to earth, while the Eagles continue to mostly win games with ease. So, we'll trust them to get another victory, even on the road against a division rival. In Pittsburgh, we have a backup quarterback taking on a rookie in December conditions, so the total is appropriately low. Since the Ravens can score reliably from distance even after modest drives thanks to Justin Tucker, we'll back them to keep it within one score.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Although the 10-2 Minnesota Vikings enter Week 14 as the NFC's No. 2 seed, it's the 5-7 Detroit Lions who are favored in Sunday's matchup between the two division rivals.Even Lions head coach Dan Campbell was surprised by Minnesota's underdog status."I really don't even know how to respond to that," Campbell said Friday, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive. "I'm shocked by that."Detroit, which will host the Vikings, is in red-hot form. The Lions have won four of their last five games to return to the fringes of playoff contention, with their one slip-up being a last-second defeat to the AFC-leading Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving.Only the Dallas Cowboys are averaging more points per game (40) than the Lions (32) over their last three games.Meanwhile, the Vikings bounced back from a 40-3 loss to Dallas on Nov. 20, winning back-to-back games over the New England Patriots and New York Jets. However, Minnesota's defensive vulnerabilities continued to be exposed during those contests. Kevin O'Connell's squad has allowed an NFL-high 451 yards per game over the last three weeks. The Vikings, who beat the Lions 28-24 in Week 3, can clinch their first NFC North title since 2017 with a win or a tie Sunday.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett announced Thursday that he plans to stay at NBC despite being a finalist for Stanford's head coaching search."Thanks so much to (athletic director) Bernard Muir and everyone at Stanford," Garrett tweeted. "While I enjoyed exploring a great opportunity at such a special place, I'm so excited to continue my work at NBC on Football Night in America and with Notre Dame Football."The announcement comes hours after Stewart Mandel of The Athletic reported that Garrett emerged as a finalist for the Cardinal coaching job. Sacramento State coach Troy Taylor is reportedly one of the other finalists.Former BYU and Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman, and former Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio are no longer in the running after speaking to Stanford about the role, adds Mandel.Garrett took over the Cowboys on an interim basis in 2010 and was given the full-time role after the season. He recorded an 85-67 record in Dallas but struggled to lead the team to postseason success, with just two wins in five playoff games.Dallas fired the 56-year-old Garrett after the 2019 campaign. He was hired as the New York Giants' offensive coordinator ahead of the 2020 season but was fired 10 games into 2021. Garrett took a TV analyst job with NBC Sports in April. He joined the network's coverage of the Fighting Irish in August.David Shaw, the Cardinal's all-time leader in wins, stepped down after 12 years in charge following a 3-9 finish.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson knows he has plenty to work on after a rough first outing with his new side against the Houston Texans."Just being out there playing football, doing what I'm doing, and finding myself - all that stuff's gotta come back," Watson said.Watson threw for 131 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception in the Browns' 27-14 win over the Texans. Cleveland did not score an offensive touchdown."I don't know when it's gonna come back. I don't know if it's last week or this week. My job is to keep getting better, and when it clicks, it clicks," Watson added. This was Watson's first game back after serving an 11-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.Watson spent five seasons in Houston, throwing for 14,359 yards and 104 touchdowns. He didn't play in 2021 after requesting a trade the preceding offseason, and his first game in over 700 days ultimately came against his former team."Last week was a lot," Watson said when asked if playing against his former team affected his play. "The anticipation of being back on the field, the anticipation of going back to my former team, the anticipation of playing against former teammates and being back in front of a crowd that used to cheer for me. All that stuff was definitely a lot."Watson added that most of his issues were due to "mechanics" and "fundamentals."The 27-year-old will look to bounce back on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Underdog bettors' greatest fear was realized in Week 13 - no 'dogs won.The Bengals were the only team with a "plus" in front of their odds to win, but the defending AFC champions at home hardly qualifies. A 1-4 record against the spread drops us to 38-24-3 this season. The Jets might have averaged 10 inches on three quarterback sneaks to take a lead late, while the Texans' offense outscored the Browns' offense 14-6, but neither covered. Welcome to the razor's edge of the NFL.How it worksWe parlay five underdogs we like against the spread in 10 different three-team parlays. Using every combination of a three-team parlay is called a round robin. We'll use a total of 1.1 units to make 11 different bets: 10 three-team parlays and one five-team parlay, each for .1 units. You'll likely double your money if three teams pull off the upset. If four teams win, you're connecting on four separate parlays and will be very pleased with the return. If all five teams win, you'll be diving into a silo of gold doubloons like a young Scrooge McDuck.Who to playBrowns +210They are few and far between, but sometimes particular matchups do matter in the NFL. Cleveland has won five straight over the Bengals. The Browns are being downgraded for Deshaun Watson's terrible play in Houston, but given how predictable that was, his second game should involve fewer jitters.Ja'Marr Chase was missing from the last matchup, as he and Joe Burrow skipped last season's finale, but it's possible the Browns' defensive line is a bad matchup for the Bengals' offensive line, having sacked Burrow 17 times in the teams' last four meetings and allowed just over 3 yards per carry to Cincinnati tailbacks in those games.Broncos +360I like the number more than I like the Broncos, but that's always the case with a big underdog. The illustrious combo of Vic Fangio and Drew Lock nearly shocked the Chiefs in a standalone Week 18 game last season, and while Russell Wilson looks more like Lock than we ever imagined, it's the Broncos' defense that's made Denver the best under bet this season. A low-scoring game usually means a close one, and if the Broncos' offense can catch Kansas City - 31st in opponent's passer rating - on something of a letdown after last week's loss in Cincinnati, we might see another surprisingly close contest.Panthers +170The Panthers are 3-3 in their last six games. They're a chip-shot field-goal miss in overtime away from flipping one of those losses, and another came with the since-released Baker Mayfield at quarterback. No one is dying to make a case for a Sam Darnold resurgence, but the same could have been said of Geno Smith. The Panthers want to run the football, doing so 46 times in a win over Denver before their bye week. Only four teams give up more yards per carry than the Seahawks.Carolina is not great against the run either, but can banged-up Seattle tailbacks take advantage? The Panthers, meanwhile, are top 10 in yards per pass attempt (YPA) allowed. Smith's last six victories have come against teams that are 30th, 16th, 18th, 24th, and 23rd in YPA.Chargers +150The respective injury reports are going to be key, particularly on the offensive line. The Chargers' offense becomes considerably less efficient when center Corey Linsley is out, as he was last week. He's progressing through concussion protocol. Meanwhile, Derwin James and Mike Williams need to be green-lit for the Chargers to be live in this one.On the flip side, with right tackle Austin Jackson already on IR, the Dolphins' really need Terron Armstead to keep Tua Tagovailoa comfortable. All the moving parts provide uncertainty to a game with two high-variance teams, so +150 on the moneyline is worth a shot on the home underdog in a game that it needs badly for its playoff chances.Cardinals +105If we can catch two of the above, it should create a moneyline bet on the Cardinals that's better than the singular price above, and maybe we get lucky and three (or four!?) win.Of course, that means we're relying on Kliff Kingsbury to beat Bill Belichick and win a game late in the season. However, Kingsbury does get something of a bad rap. Last year, the Cardinals were without Deandre Hopkins and had a banged-up Kyler Murray. With last week's late bye week, Arizona has a fresh Hopkins, the return of Marquise Brown, and Murray healthy enough to run for 56 yards against the Chargers last week. The Cardinals have seen their red-zone efficiency rise in recent games, whereas the Patriots are the league's worst team at converting those trips into touchdowns. Here's how the odds look this week:PARLAYODDS (Approx.)CLE+DEN+CAR+3700CLE+DEN+LAC+3500CLE+DEN+ARZ+2850CLE+CAR+LAC+2100CLE+CAR+ARZ+1600CLE+LAC+ARZ+1500DEN+CAR+LAC+3000DEN+CAR+ARZ+2400DEN+LAC+ARZ+2250CAR+LAC+ARZ+1300CLE+DEN+CAR+LAC+ARZ+20000Who are your five underdogs for a football betting lottery ticket?Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. The Atlanta Falcons are turning to rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder as their starter, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Marcus Mariota started the first 13 games of the season for the 5-8 Falcons. However, Mariota has thrown for less than 200 yards in each of his last five contests while tossing five touchdowns to three interceptions. Atlanta has gone 1-4 during that span.Head coach Arthur Smith left open the possibility of a quarterback change following the team's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13, telling reporters "every job is open."With the Falcons on a bye, Ridder is slated to make his first career start in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints.Drafted in the third round in 2022, Ridder flashed glimpses of promise during preseason action before taking the No. 2 job behind Mariota to open the campaign. In three preseason contests, the rookie signal-caller threw for three touchdowns, including a game-winning score in a win over the Detroit Lions.Atlanta currently trails the 6-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the NFC South lead.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is "leaning toward" quarterback Baker Mayfield being active for Thursday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.McVay acknowledged Wednesday it'd be unprecedented for Mayfield, whom the Rams claimed off waivers Tuesday following his release from the Carolina Panthers, to be ready to play so soon.John Wolford, who started last Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, is questionable after aggravating a neck injury, added McVay, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. The Rams want to test Wolford in pregame workouts before deciding who will play against the Raiders, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. If Wolford can't go, Mayfield reportedly would be in line to start.Bryce Perkins started in Week 11 with Wolford sidelined and Matthew Stafford likely out for the season with a neck injury.Additionally, the reigning Super Bowl champions won't have star defensive tackle Aaron Donald for a second straight week due to an ankle injury.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy joined the NFL this season as "Mr. Irrelevant" and has yet to make his first career start - but that doesn't mean he hasn't done enough to impress his teammates."You would think he's been in the league 15 years," All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams said Wednesday, according to Bridget Condon of NFL.com. "If you're talking, he'll say, 'Shut your ass up.' He ain't no timid rookie feeling his way around. He'll get on your ass. You would think he's like Peyton Manning or something. Wide receivers not running, you'll hear him cussing a wide receiver out."Purdy is set to start for San Francisco after Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a broken foot in Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Garoppolo will likely miss the remainder of the season, but there's an "outside chance" the veteran passer returns in the playoffs. Garoppolo began the year as the 49ers' No. 2 signal-caller behind Trey Lance, who sustained a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2.The 22-year-old completed 25 of 37 pass attempts for 210 yards and two touchdowns against one interception in his relief appearance versus Miami after Garoppolo went down."When you see him and his makeup and you look at him, an undersized quarterback, 'Mr. Irrelevant,' how many 'Mr. Irrelevants' make the active roster?" Williams said. "That's the only way he could get here. It has to be his attitude, his makeup, his mentality because it's not his size. He's undersized, not a prototypical type of quarterback."San Francisco picked Purdy with the 262nd overall pick, the final selection in 2022's draft. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Purdy joined San Francisco after playing four seasons at Iowa State. It's been a special season for Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff."I feel like I am playing the best football of my career right now," Goff said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.Goff entered the NFL as the first overall pick in the 2016 draft and played his first five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. He earned two Pro Bowl berths in his first three pro years and set career highs with 4,688 yards and 32 touchdowns while helping the Rams reach the Super Bowl in 2018."I've played a lot of good football in my career, but I feel as comfortable as I've ever felt," he added. "I'm getting older, I'm understanding the game more, and it's just everything coming together a little bit."The 28-year-old joined Detroit via trade during the 2021 offseason, passing for only 3,245 yards and 19 touchdowns against eight interceptions through 14 games in his first year with the team. This year, however, the Goff-led Lions' offense ranks sixth in points per game. The veteran signal-caller has amassed 3,022 yards and 19 touchdowns to seven interceptions, good for a passer rating of 95.7 - his highest since 2018.The 5-7 Lions, who've won four of their last five games, currently sit second in the NFC North."We're still not there," Goff said. "We're 5-7, but a lot of positivity going on right now and things moving in the right direction. We're playing really good football, regardless of who we're playing or what the score has been, it's been really good football the last five weeks, and can we continue that for another five weeks would be the goal and to finish the season strong."Detroit hosts the 10-2 Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The team hasn't made the playoffs since the 2016 season and has an 8% chance of reaching the postseason in 2022, according to FiveThirtyEight.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons said Wednesday that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. told him he could be ready to play in five weeks, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.Beckham is the league's top available free agent but hasn't played since tearing his ACL while playing for the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI. The 30-year-old has generated interest from multiple teams, including the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Cowboys, who've all hosted him for visits.Parsons and teammate Trevon Diggs also attended a Dallas Mavericks game with Beckham on Monday."Obviously, he knows we want him, but really just wanted to make him feel at home," Parsons said Wednesday. "There's only so much you can say. ... I'm pretty sure he knows what we got here."Following a physical with Beckham, the Cowboys are reportedly concerned that the star receiver won't be able to play before mid-January. Some inside the organization apparently fear Beckham won't return until next season. The wild-card round of the playoffs takes place Jan. 14-16, while the divisional round starts Jan. 21.Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday that the team is "still working on" signing the three-time Pro Bowler, according to Machota. The 9-3 Cowboys have won three straight. Don't rule Jimmy Garoppolo out for the season just yet.Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Wednesday that the San Francisco 49ers quarterback doesn't have ligament damage in his foot, giving him a slim chance of returning in the postseason."Still going to be a big recovery," Shanahan said, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. "There's that way outside chance (of a return) late in the playoffs, but just an outside chance. Not real optimistic about it, but never rule it out."Doctors concluded Tuesday that Garoppolo doesn't need foot surgery after suffering an injury in Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Garoppolo broke his foot against the Dolphins, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said the signal-caller was expected to undergo season-ending surgery. However, the veteran passer now has a chance to return in seven-to-eight weeks, according to Schefter. The wild-card round of the postseason takes place Jan. 14-16. The 49ers lead the NFC West with an 8-4 record, good for the No. 3 seed in the NFC at the moment. The 7-5 Seattle Seahawks rank second in the division.Garoppolo completed 67.2% of his passes for 2,437 yards and 16 touchdowns against four interceptions through 11 appearances this season. He began the campaign as the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Trey Lance, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2.Injuries have been an issue for the 31-year-old Garoppolo, who missed most of 2018 after tearing his ACL and suffered a season-ending ankle injury midway through the 2020 season.Rookie Brock Purdy - who was selected with the final pick in the 2022 draft - is in line to start at quarterback for the 49ers. San Francisco recently signed veteran Josh Johnson to serve as his backup. The 49ers were also linked to quarterback Baker Mayfield, who was claimed by the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday after being released by the Carolina Panthers. Last season, we rocked and rolled our way to the Super Bowl with music-themed Thursday Night Football player props, joyfully celebrating the start of a new NFL week. This year, we'll use an episode from "Must See TV" cornerstone "Seinfeld" each week to remind us that betting is supposed to be fun, even when an absurd series of events leads to a losing bet."Do you have a job? No. You got money? No. Do you have a woman? No. Do you have any prospects? No. Do you got anything on the horizon? Uh, no. Do you have any action at all? No. Do you have any conceivable reason for even getting up in the morning? ... I'm going to California, I've got the bug." - Kramer trying to convince George to come to Los Angeles with him.In the third season finale of "Seinfeld," the group argues about their spare keys because Kramer misused the power of access to Jerry's apartment. As a result of the conflict, Kramer takes off for Los Angeles, yearning for more out of life."The Keys"The Rams are all employed, they're probably good for money, and their relationships are probably fine. However, without three stars and with a dearth of draft picks, they don't have any prospects or anything on the horizon, and their games involve very little action. Meanwhile, the Raiders have the playoff bug after three straight wins.Josh Jacobs looked ready to pack his bags after falling down the depth chart in the preseason. In Week 4, though, the Raiders gave Derek Carr's spare keys to the offense to Jacobs. They ramped up his snap count from 65% to 80%, and they handed him the ball more than 20 times for the first time all season.Jacobs has cashed the over in six of nine games since, and he now leads the league in rushing. However, those teams rank 20th, 27th, 13th, 28th, and 32nd in yards per carry (YPC) allowed. Meanwhile, he's been held under 80 yards against the Colts (7th), Jaguars (8th), and Saints (18th, but best run defense last season).Jacobs' yardage total for this game is the highest of the season despite the Rams ranking fourth in opponents' YPC. Plus, the Rams are fourth worst in opponents' passer rating. After seeing Geno Smith throw for 367 yards with a 71.7% pass completion, Carr should be excited to drop back without the threat of Aaron Donald swallowing him whole. He'll chop up the Rams' defense like a Ginsu knife, limiting Jacobs.Pick: Josh Jacobs under 87.5 rush yardsA TD that's definitely going to happenIn his quest to become an actor in Hollywood, Kramer wasted no time in getting a guest role on the 90's sitcom "Murphy Brown." One of the running gags on that show was how quickly Murphy disposed of her assistants. The Rams are running through quarterbacks in a similarly expeditious fashion, so it's nearly impossible to make a case for a valuable bet on anyone to score for Los Angeles at short odds. It's the Raiders that have one of the league's go-to scorers.Davante Adams is tied for first in receiving touchdowns. With the Rams' pass defense vulnerable, we shouldn't be as coy as Newman was in breaking Kramer's departure to Jerry. Adams has 12 touchdowns in 12 games, scoring in eight of those (66%). That small sample size suggests this line should be around -200. While that's an exaggeration, the matchup sets up well for Adams to add to his count.Pick: Davante Adams anytime touchdown (bet up to -115)A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it doesThe group's argument over the spare keys is just as much of a head-shaker as the Rams' personnel usage on offense.L.A. did move the ball at times against the Seahawks, and the Raiders' defense is dead last in the league in opponents' passer rating. Whether it's John Wolford, Bryce Perkins, or Baker Mayfield, there should be some room in Vegas' secondary. L.A.'s second tight end, Brycen Hopkins, has had anywhere from six to 22 snaps since the Rams' Week 8 bye. He has just two catches on only five targets in that time, but that's why he's 12-1 at theScore Bet. So, even though we'd be as surprised to see him score as Jerry is to find Kramer in his bathtub, we'll take a shot that he's something of a secret weapon in the red zone.Pick: Brycen Hopkins anytime touchdown (+1200)How to bet: The first two bets should be single-unit wagers to win a unit on minus prices and more than a unit on a plus-money bet. The last wager should be smaller, trying to win back your standard unit size.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. If there’s a bad beat to be had, Matt will find it. The main idea of teasing a team from a point spread of over a touchdown down to under a field goal is that even the most hotly-contested NFL games are won by three points. The rarity of a one- or two-point game should offset the advantage of capturing the key numbers of -7 and -8.Then come the Ravens and a first-quarter injury to Lamar Jackson. The Ravens did what they were supposed to do on defense - holding Russell Wilson and the Broncos to just nine points. Whether you had Baltimore against the spread or in a tease, you were planning on them at least flirting with 20 points. Unfortunately, their needs didn't match ours, as they pulled off a forgettable 10-9 game that fell in the dangerous sour spot of just enough for a win but without covering a 6-point tease. Some games don't have a teaser-worthy point spread. For example, Week 14's Thursday nighter seems like it would be teaser-worthy as the Raiders are six-point favorites, but Las Vegas's moneyline is available anywhere from -260 to -240, which is a better price than the -270 to -275 price a teaser leg goes for these days.Teasing the Rams to +12 gets the key numbers through a touchdown, but there's value lost in capturing potential winning margins of nine, 11, and a push on 12 since they aren't common enough results.Let's look at a team that's won 11 of 12 games this season - the Eagles and their trip to MetLife Stadium - to exemplify the value of teasing a favorite down.ALT. SPREADODDSEagles -6-138Eagles -5-157Eagles -4-175Eagles -3-240Eagles -2-275Eagles -1-305As always, the pricing significantly jumps once you move across the key number of -3. In this case, a full dollar shows the importance of capturing that number in NFL betting. More importantly, the Eagles' alternative spread (-1) is priced at -305. That's much higher than getting the team at -1 with a teaser leg at -270 or betting the moneyline at -310.To get a good deal on the Eagles -1, we must pair them with another bet and win both to cash the ticket. Fortunately, we can choose that other leg from our weekly "teaser basket" using what we know about key numbers.Teaser basketLet's look at the mathematically optimal plays available for Week 14:TEAMSPREADTEASER LEGEagles-7-1Ravens+2.5+8.5Vikings+2.5+8.5Cardinals+1.5+7.5Options are limited this week. The Ravens would be roughly field-goal favorites if Jackson were to play, but this line has flipped with the probability of Tyler Huntley getting the start on Sunday. That comes with some uncertainty that doesn't usually support a highly-priced teaser leg. However, Huntley played five games last season, and every game was decided by a field goal or less. The Vikings have won one fewer game than Philadelphia this season but are 2.5-point underdogs at the Lions. That begs the question about Minnesota: Can you be overrated if no one rates you highly? Moreover, are the Lions in the category of the Eagles and Cowboys, which are the two teams to not only beat Minnesota but do so handily? Finally, the Cardinals are available to be teased on Monday Night Football, but is finishing your week with the walking variables of Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray something you're really all that interested in?Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. This week, we highlight one player for every team who must step up in the season's final stretch.1. Philadelphia Eagles (11-1) Mitchell Leff / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 1Undrafted rookie safety Reed Blankenship made his first career start Sunday and didn't disappoint. The Eagles need more solid performances from him moving forward as he tries to replace an injured C.J. Gardner-Johnson.2. Dallas Cowboys (9-3)Previous Rank: 3The Cowboys' secondary took a hit after losing starting corner Anthony Brown for the season. Despite his struggles and having mostly played on special teams, it's now up to Kelvin Joseph to slide into the starting rotation to replace Brown.3. Cincinnati Bengals (8-4)Previous Rank: 7Jonah Williams is having an up-and-down season. The left tackle has improved in pass protection lately but still had costly penalties in Week 13.4. Kansas City Chiefs (9-3)Previous Rank: 2With Kadarius Toney and Mecole Hardman battling injuries, the Chiefs need more from leading receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. He hasn't topped 40 receiving yards or scored a touchdown in his last three games.5. Buffalo Bills (9-3) Cooper Neill / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 6Buffalo will need its entire group of young pass-rushers - including A.J. Epenesa - to deliver with Von Miller sidelined for at least three more games. Epenesa registered the team's only sack in Thursday's win over New England.6. San Francisco 49ers (8-4)Previous Rank: 5Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending injury means seventh-round rookie Brock Purdy is in line to start for San Francisco at quarterback moving forward. Purdy looked good with 210 yards and two touchdowns in his relief appearance in Week 13.7. Miami Dolphins (8-4)Previous Rank: 4Injuries forced Miami to start offensive tackles Greg Little and Brandon Shell on Sunday. The duo needs to step up in the coming weeks as the Dolphins navigate through the toughest part of their schedule.8. Minnesota Vikings (10-2)Previous Rank: 8Kicker Greg Joseph didn't miss any attempts in Week 13, but his accuracy has been an issue all season. Joseph has already missed five extra points and five field goals in 2022.9. Washington Commanders (7-5-1)Previous Rank: 9The Commanders will likely turn to Nick Martin at center in the final stretch of the year after starter Tyler Larsen suffered a potential season-ending injury. It's a second chance for Martin, who struggled in two starts early this campaign.10. Tennessee Titans (7-5) Cooper Neill / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 10Left tackle Dennis Daley is coming off one of his worst performances of the season, but Tennessee doesn't have many options at the position at this point. Daley could lose the starting role to Le'Raven Clark if he doesn't step up in the coming weeks.11. Seattle Seahawks (7-5)Previous Rank: 14Kenneth Walker is one of the campaign's best rookies, but the running back has been cold lately. He amassed only 79 yards on the ground over his last three games.12. New York Jets (7-5)Previous Rank: 12The Jets saw Corey Davis catch five passes for 85 yards Sunday and need the wideout to keep his momentum in the season's final weeks. Davis, who missed three games due to injury, has only 25 receptions, 445 yards, and two touchdowns in 2022.13. Baltimore Ravens (8-4)Previous Rank: 11Lamar Jackson is week-to-week with a knee injury, so the Ravens will likely turn to Tyler Huntley at quarterback. Huntley takes over an offense that's scored 13 or fewer points in two of its last three games.14. Detroit Lions (5-7)Previous Rank: 18The Lions, winners of four of their last five, need more from running back D'Andre Swift if they want to make a playoff push. He's rushed for only 123 yards (3.3 per carry) over his last six appearances.15. New York Giants (7-4-1) Jim McIsaac / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 16Unless the Giants beat the Cowboys and Bills to signing Odell Beckham Jr., they'll need another productive pass-catcher in the building. Can Kenny Golladay finally contribute and give New York another weapon alongside Darius Slayton? Other in-house options would be Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James.16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6)Previous Rank: 17The Bucs will have to find a way to get their best receiver more involved in the offense if they're going to have any chance of getting hot and making some noise in the playoffs. Mike Evans hasn't produced at the level we've come to expect.17. Los Angeles Chargers (6-6)Previous Rank: 13Justin Herbert is one of the best quarterbacks in the league - it's unfair to expect him to do more than he already has. But he may well have to drag the Chargers to the playoffs by himself at this point.18. New England Patriots (6-6)Previous Rank: 15Mac Jones has taken a step back after an impressive rookie year. A strong finish to this season would help his chances of keeping the Patriots from looking elsewhere for next year's starting quarterback.19. Green Bay Packers (5-8)Previous Rank: 21A.J. Dillon had his best game of the campaign in a win over Chicago. The Packers need more of that from the second member of a dynamic running back duo if they have any chance of running the table and saving their season.20. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8) David Eulitt / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 20Travis Etienne has been a breakout star for the Jaguars, but there's still some untapped potential as a receiver. Taking advantage of his skill set in that regard could help this offense reach another level.21. Las Vegas Raiders (5-7)Previous Rank: 26Chandler Jones finally got on the board with three sacks in a massive win over the Chargers. The Raiders will need more of that from their veteran pass-rusher to keep things trending in the right direction down the stretch.22. Arizona Cardinals (4-8)Previous Rank: 22We can, and should, spend all the time we want blaming Kliff Kingsbury for the mess this Cardinals team has become. But it's also fair to expect more from Kyler Murray, especially after his $230.5-million extension.23. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-7)Previous Rank: 24There's been some growth lately, but Kenny Pickett still doesn't have a game with multiple touchdown passes through nine starts. The rookie quarterback getting hot down the stretch would be a promising sign for the future.24. Atlanta Falcons (5-8)Previous Rank: 19It seems likely that Desmond Ridder will get a chance to prove what he can do down the stretch. He needs to capitalize on the opportunity and show the Falcons they already have their quarterback of the future.25. Cleveland Browns (5-7) Logan Riely / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 23The Browns' offense was a mess with Deshaun Watson making his debut last week. Shaking off the rust and finding some sort of rhythm is imperative in building some momentum for next season.26. Chicago Bears (3-10)Previous Rank: 27Chase Claypool has just 111 receiving yards since being acquired at the trade deadline. Considering the Bears gave up what is going to be an extremely early second-round pick, he needs to start making an impact.27. Indianapolis Colts (4-8-1)Previous Rank: 25Jonathan Taylor hasn't produced anywhere close to the level he did last year. No matter who's playing quarterback, that's a major setback for the offense.28. Carolina Panthers (4-8)Previous Rank: 28After a disappointing rookie year and a slow start to 2022, Terrace Marshall is beginning to emerge as a playmaker for Carolina. Continuing that trend to close out the season could help the former second-round pick establish himself as the long-term WR2 alongside D.J. Moore.29. New Orleans Saints (4-9)Previous Rank: 29Alvin Kamara had a spectacular three-touchdown performance earlier this season, but those are still his only scores this year. The star running back has to recapture his Pro Bowl form if this Saints offense is going to improve.30. Los Angeles Rams (3-9) Mike Christy / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 30The Rams' offense has to lean on the run game in Matthew Stafford's absence. That makes it all the more important for Cam Akers to turn his disappointing season around.31. Denver Broncos (3-9)Previous Rank: 31It's not going to make a difference where the Broncos finish this campaign. But Russell Wilson showing some signs of his previous form would go a long way toward the team feeling better about being committed to him for the foreseeable future.32. Houston Texans (1-10-1)Previous Rank: 32Nico Collins is on his way to establishing himself as a top playmaker for the Texans' offense. He can parlay his increased opportunities into more production down the stretch.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson sprained his PCL in Sunday's win against the Denver Broncos, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.The Ravens previously labeled Jackson week-to-week with a knee injury.Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Jackson wasn't likely to be ready for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers."It's going to be a weekly thing," Harbaugh said. "As the week goes on, we'll see for this week. He's probably less likely for this week, but it's not impossible, and then after that, it will become more and more likely."Quarterback Tyler Huntley will get most of the reps in practice this week, Harbaugh said.Huntley led the Ravens on a game-winning drive in their victory over the Broncos. The 24-year-old Huntley started four games for the Ravens last season, totaling 1,375 yards and five touchdowns.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bill Belichick offered high praise of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins ahead of their Monday Night Football matchup.Speaking to reporters Tuesday, the New England Patriots head coach said he would rank Hopkins among the top players he has ever faced and went into detail about what makes him an elite wideout."He's got tremendous ball skills," Belichick said, according to Chris Mason of MassLive. "He catches everything. Has great hands. He's long, so he's never covered, even if he's covered, there's a place where the ball can be that he can get it and still make the catch. Great coordination on the sidelines. And he doesn't really look it, but he's a strong kid. You see him break tackles. He's a strong kid in terms of creating separation on routes, yards after contact, tough yards like around the goal line, or that extra yard for a first down type of thing."He's a smart football player. Very savvy. I'd say his ball skills are at the very elite level of guys that I've seen in this league. He's up there with whoever the top guys are. The Cris Carters of the world. Guys like that. I think he's every bit as good as anybody I've ever coached against."Hopkins has caught 49 passes for 574 yards and three touchdowns so far this season since returning from a six-game suspension.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Tennessee Titans fired general manager Jon Robinson, the team announced Tuesday.Robinson's dismissal comes with the Titans leading the AFC South after recording a 7-5 record through the first 13 weeks of the campaign. It also is just 10 months after the club gave contract extensions to him and head coach Mike Vrabel."Since becoming controlling owner in 2015, my goal has been to raise the standard for what is expected in all facets of our organization," owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement. "I believe we have made significant progress both on and off the field through investments in leadership, personnel, and new ideas."This progress includes the core of our business, the football team itself, which is regularly evaluated both by results (wins and losses) and team construction/roster building. I am proud of what we have accomplished in my eight seasons of ownership, but I believe there is more to be done and higher aspirations to be met."I want to thank Jon for his dedicated work to set this organization on an upward trajectory, and I wish him and his family the best."Vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden will lead player personnel for the remainder of the season. Tennessee will begin preliminary work on hiring its new general manager shortly and start a full search once the season ends. The 46-year-old Robinson was hired in 2016 and given the additional title of executive vice president in 2017. The Titans have made the playoffs in four of Robinson's six seasons at the helm and have never finished with a losing record.Tennessee has become a consistent playoff contender following the arrival of Vrabel in 2018, winning the division the last two seasons and securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC in 2021.However, the team has struggled to push to the next level. The top-seeded Titans were one-and-done in the playoffs last season after being upset by the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round. Moreover, Robinson has been criticized for some recent personnel moves, most notably trading star receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles for a first-round pick on draft night in April. The Eagles blew out the Titans 35-10 last Sunday, with Brown going off for 118 yards and two touchdowns.Robinson has also struggled to hit on first-round picks in recent years. Offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, who was cut after one season, and cornerback Caleb Farley, who has struggled with injuries to start his career, are among his most prominent misses.Overall, the Titans went 66-43 in the regular season and 3-4 in the playoffs during Robinson's tenure.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL fans would say Tom Brady did it again after a comeback win Monday night. Bettors would say Todd Bowles did it again, allowing the Buccaneers to reach the point of desperation while seemingly remaining unaware of who his quarterback is, just as we hypothesized ahead of Tampa Bay's clash with the Saints.Opting for a pair of punts while trailing by two scores in the fourth quarter, Bowles remains risk-averse at every turn. That can keep a team alive when it's trailing, but it will do the same for an opponent battling a deficit of its own. It's an example of nuance beyond pure reliance on power ratings; a team's strategy must be evaluated independent of ability. Brady will bring a team back from the brink, but he can't be solely responsible for ensuring a favorite covers the spread. This is our last regular-season look at the betting market's take on each NFL team, and the hierarchy remains influenced by the weekly flow of quarterbacks in and out of the lineup. Lamar Jackson and Jimmy Garoppolo are the latest signal-callers in need of replacement. Spoiler alert: The Ravens and 49ers will see a drop in bookmakers' power ratings next week. How ratings workWe look at the betting market's assessment of each team based on the closing lines from the previous week's games, and then we estimate what each club is capable of going forward. The "rating" column is an educated guess at the oddsmakers' rating to create a point spread before their most recent game. The number itself represents the percentage chance that a team beats an average opponent on a neutral field. The range column is my evaluation of each team's potential after seeing them play this season. Obviously, clubs don't perform at the same level every week; they play within a range. It's our job as handicappers to predict how they'll perform based on things like the situation, on-field matchups, and roster/injury issues.Rating before Week 13 kickoffTEAMRATINGRANGEChiefs7465-8049ers7460-75Bills7360-85Cowboys7040-70Eagles6350-75Dolphins6150-70Ravens6055-70Bengals5850-70Buccaneers5350-80Patriots5240-55Titans5140-60Raiders5035-55Commanders5030-50Chargers4945-65Vikings4945-65Jets4835-50Packers4840-55Seahawks4735-50Jaguars4635-50Browns4640-65Saints4540-60Steelers4435-50Lions4330-50Cardinals4235-55Broncos3930-50Colts3835-55Falcons3830-50Giants3730-50Panthers3220-40Bears2820-45Rams2020-60Texans1515-35The Bills fell from the top spot before last Thursday's game against the Patriots, as the spread went from -5.5 down to -3.5. That was quickly deemed a mistake as Buffalo manhandled New England, a team that rose for reasons that are something of a mystery. The 49ers looked the part of the NFL's top team, even though most of that came after they lost Garoppolo for the season due to a foot injury. What the market does with San Francisco's rating will determine a lot over the final few weeks. The Ravens dropped from the mid-50s to the mid-30s in last year's ratings after Jackson got hurt, and while they were competitive, they didn't win another game. From what we've seen of Baltimore this season, 60/100 seems too high.Elsewhere in the AFC North, the Bengals beat the top-rated Chiefs. That begs the question - from someone with a Patrick Mahomes MVP bet: Should Mahomes be the favorite for Most Valuable Player after losing to both Josh Allen and Joe Burrow? Burrow is 10-1 and has a path to a division title, and perhaps the top seed in the AFC. If you're looking to defend a 9-1 bet on Mahomes, Burrow is worth a wager; that's probably true even if you have no position in the market. The Eagles saw their lowest rating of the season last week, as they were just 4.5-point favorites against the Titans. That should have been a signal to back Philadelphia. The Eagles will return to at least the high 60s next week. The Browns moved up with the return of Deshaun Watson, but he was predictably bad. If Cleveland had faced any team other than the Texans, it likely would have been blown out. Consider that in any short-term valuation of this team. The Bears' rating didn't climb all the way back to where it was before Justin Fields got hurt, and for 58 minutes, that looked like a mistake. But the Packers somehow covered anyway. We raise an eyebrow any time a team bursts through the artificial ceiling of 80 or falls through the floor below 20/100. The Texans, however, might be worth such a low rating after being blown out by an opponent that lacked a functional offense.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is intent on coaching again."I think sooner than later," Payton told Tom Brady's "Let's Go!" podcast when asked when people might see him on the sideline again. Payton added: "I know that I want to coach again."Payton announced he was stepping down as head coach of the Saints after the 2021 season. He spent 15 years in the position, finishing with a 161-97 record. The 58-year-old won a Super Bowl at the end of the 2009 season and led the team to nine playoff appearances."I want to find the right spot. ... It's still about the people. Because when it's all done and it's quiet, I don't think it's the money or the crowd cheers or the trophies or any of that other stuff. I think it's about the journey with the people that you really enjoy," Payton said. The NFL currently has two head coaching vacancies after the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts fired their coaches earlier this season.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is considered week-to-week after suffering a knee injury against the Denver Broncos, head coach John Harbaugh announced Monday.Harbaugh added that it's "less likely" that Jackson will play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers."It's going to be a weekly thing," Harbaugh said. "As the week goes on, we'll see for this week. He's probably less likely for this week, but it's not impossible, and then after that, it will become more and more likely."Jackson appeared to sustain the injury on a sack by Broncos defensive end Jonathan Cooper late in the first quarter. He was examined in the medical tent before heading to the locker room and did not return to the game.Tyler Huntley stepped in at quarterback, leading the team on a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter. He ran in the final touchdown with 28 seconds left.Harbaugh expressed faith in Huntley on Monday."The players have a lot of confidence in him," Harbaugh said. He added, "He's probably going to take most of the reps this week. ... He's a player that's got a lot of dynamics to his game."Huntley, 24, started four games for the Ravens last year. The Carolina Panthers released quarterback Baker Mayfield on Monday.Interim head coach Steve Wilks told reporters that due to the passer's professionalism, the team honored Mayfield's request for a release, according to Steve Reed of The Associated Press. Wilks said the request came after the coach informed the team that Mayfield would drop to third on the depth chart.Mayfield will be subject to waivers once the transaction is finalized. Any team that claims him would be responsible for the remaining $1.35 million guaranteed on his contract, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Several teams are looking into claiming the quarterback, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider. The 27-year-old has endured a bumpy ride in his first and only season in Carolina. Mayfield opened the year as the team's starting quarterback before an ankle injury sidelined him after five games. He returned as the backup to P.J. Walker once healthy before making his final start in a Week 11 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Panthers gave Sam Darnold the starting nod in Week 12, a victory over the Denver Broncos. Darnold had missed most of the campaign due to an ankle injury suffered prior to the start of the 2022 season.Mayfield struggled to maintain his grasp on the starting job with the Panthers. The Oklahoma product appeared in seven games for the club with six starts, compiling a 1-5 record while completing a career-low 57.8% of his passes for six touchdowns and six interceptions. His 74.4 passer rating also stands as a personal worst over his five-year career. He was looking for a fresh start in Carolina after being acquired in an offseason trade with the Cleveland Browns. The former first overall pick spent the first four years of his career in Cleveland but was shipped out after the team landed Deshaun Watson.Mayfield has been unable to build on his impressive 2020 showing in Cleveland. The signal-caller led the Browns to their first playoff appearance since the 2002 campaign after racking up 11 wins and 26 touchdowns to eight picks. He posted a 6-8 record as a starter in his final year with the organization. The transaction is the latest shakeup the Panthers have facilitated during their disappointing 4-8 campaign. The franchise fired former head coach Matt Rhule earlier this year and also shipped out star running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers in a midseason trade.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc.
