Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry suffered a potentially season-ending foot injury in Sunday's 34-31 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Mike Vrabel announced Monday that Henry will undergo foot surgery Tuesday morning. The head coach didn't provide a specific timeline on a possible return but noted there's "absolutely" a chance that Henry plays again this year, according to Adam Beasley of Pro Football Network.Henry is likely facing a timetable of six-to-10 weeks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The 27-year-old broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports. The star rusher appeared to suffer the injury early in Sunday's game. He was seen having his foot taped and testing it out on the sideline before returning and finishing the contest with 68 yards on 28 carries.Tennessee is reportedly already looking to add reinforcements, with former MVP Adrian Peterson set to work out for the team this week.Henry missed only one game over the previous two seasons despite taking on 681 carries, a mark that easily led the NFL. He is again pacing the league in rushing attempts in 2021, with his 219 carries 82 more than the nearest player. The 2016 second-rounder has turned his immense workload into historic production. He rushed for 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2019 before becoming the eighth running back in NFL history to crack 2,000 yards in 2020.With 937 yards in eight appearances, Henry was on pace to become the first-ever player to produce two 2,000-yard campaigns. If Henry is done for the season, Tennessee could be forced to rely on the inexperienced trio of Jeremy McNichols, Dontrell Hilliard, and Mekhi Sargent. It's possible the Titans, who sit atop the AFC at 6-2, will look to explore trade options ahead of Tuesday's deadline.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The New Orleans Saints aren't thinking about turning to an old foe to save their season.New Orleans won't pursue free-agent quarterback Cam Newton immediately after Jameis Winston reportedly suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a source told Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. The Saints reportedly intend to first give backups Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian the chance to replace Winston.Siemian led the Saints to a shocking 36-27 win over the reigning Super Bowl champions, throwing for 159 yards and one touchdown.Meanwhile, Hill - who started five games last season when Drew Brees was sidelined - has been out since suffering a concussion on Oct. 10.The New England Patriots released Newton prior to the start of the campaign after he appeared to be the favorite for the AFC East club's starting job throughout the offseason. The 2015 MVP struggled in his lone campaign under center for the Patriots last season. He threw for a career-low 2,657 yards and eight touchdowns against 10 interceptions, adding 592 yards and 12 scores on the ground.Newton recently said he's received offers from unspecified teams and that he wants to continue his NFL career.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Running back James Robinson is expected to be day-to-day with a foot injury, and his status for the Jacksonville Jaguars' Week 9 meeting against the Buffalo Bills is in question, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Robinson suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He exited after recording just four carries for 22 yards and did not return.Head coach Urban Meyer described the ailment as a bruised heel postgame, according to team reporter Ashlyn Sullivan, but did not know any further details.Robinson has continued to carry the load for the Jaguars' rushing attack in his second season. Sunday Rundown recaps the most important developments from the day's action and examines their significance moving forward.Saints should make a move at QB Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyThe Saints improved 5-2 with an incredible win over the Buccaneers despite losing Jameis Winston in the 2nd quarter to a knee injury. Unfortunately, as Sean Payton revealed postgame, the injury appears to be a significant one.Knocking off the defending champs with Trevor Siemian under center showed just how much talent this team has all over the field. If Winston remains out long-term, simply turning to Siemian as the starter - or Taysom Hill when he returns from a concussion - feels like wasting the club's potential.New Orleans should be looking outside the organization for a quarterback who can help them get to and compete in the playoffs. Maybe that's Cam Newton - he could run all the plays this offense has designed for Hill, but also brings far more ability as a passer. Drew Brees seems committed to retirement, but is Philip Rivers?Or if the Dolphins end up trading for Deshaun Watson before Tuesday's deadline, which has been an on-and-off rumor for weeks, perhaps the Saints could get really creative and trade for Tua Tagovailoa. Who's to say he wouldn't make good on his first-round draft status playing under Payton?Either way, New Orleans can't afford to sit back. The overall quality of the roster and coaching staff gives them a solid floor no matter who is leading the offense. If the Saints want to compete in January, they'll need to go find a signal-caller who gives them a higher ceiling.Big night for CowboysThere couldn't have been many people betting on the Cowboys to win Sunday night after it became clear that Dak Prescott wouldn't be available against the Vikings. And yet, Dallas has continued to roll to 6-1.Dropping this game was a huge letdown from Minnesota, for sure, but it's also a statement from Dallas. No longer a one-dimensional team carried solely by the quarterback, the defense's offseason makeover has ensured that the unit does its part, too.Beating the Vikings with Cooper Rush under center is further proof - if you needed any - that this Cowboys squad is a legitimate Super Bowl contender. The NFC has its fair share of powerhouses, but this is a team that, when Dak gets healthy, nobody will want to come up against in January.Fields thrives without Nagy Jonathan Daniel / Getty Images Sport / GettySunday's game against the 49ers was far and away Justin Fields' best performance as a pro. Not only was he in control as a passer, completing 70.4% of his attempts on the day, but he also finally started to make big plays on the ground, racking up 103 rushing yards and one truly ridiculous touchdown scamper.Credit for this performance, of course, goes to Fields himself. His underwhelming overall productivity overshadowed his early flashes, but this performance demonstrated why he was such a highly-touted prospect coming out of Ohio State. The coaching factor is also worth noting here. After Matt Nagy's frustrating usage of Fields early on - most notably, not taking advantage of his athleticism - the head coach's absence left Bill Lazor in full control of the offense this week. Is it a coincidence that this game was when the Bears finally utilized their rookie quarterback in the best way suited for his skill set?Fields' development is the top priority - he's the reason Chicago has such a bright future. If Nagy's offense has been holding him back to this point, that tells you everything you need to know about the direction the Bears should be going this offseason.Titans are for realRemember when the Titans looked like they had forgotten how to play football as the Cardinals ran them off the field in Week 1? What about when the lowly Jets celebrated their first win at the hands of Tennessee in Week 4? Give Mike Vrabel and Co. a heap of credit because those same Titans dispatched the Colts for their fourth straight win and now hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC.Plenty of factors have contributed to Tennessee's turnaround, none more significant than turnover differential. The Titans had two takeaways with seven giveaways over their 2-2 start and have nine takeaways and four giveaways through their four-game win streak - a stretch that includes victories over the Chiefs and Bills.Tennessee was particularly opportunistic in Week 8, forcing Carson Wentz into a pick-6 in the fourth quarter and another interception in overtime to set up Randy Bullock's game-winning field goal.Derrick Henry is undeniably the Titans' most valuable player, but Indianapolis limited him to 2.4 yards per carry. But it didn't even matter - Tennessee once again found a way to win, and this time, it was A.J. Brown dominating to the tune of 10 catches for 155 yards. This team can win in all different kinds of ways. It's time to start believing.Bengals' D a concern? Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyThe Bengals hype train hit a major roadblock this week with an embarrassing loss to the one-win Jets.Any good squad can have a bad game, and that may well prove to be what this was. But Cincinnati's defense allowing Mike White to join Cam Newton as only the second quarterback in NFL history to throw for 400-plus yards in his first start is a major red flag. With Joe Burrow coming along as expected and Ja'Marr Chase putting together one of the best rookie wideout campaigns we've ever seen, there's little doubt that the Bengals can score with everyone. But if the defense exceeding expectations to this point was just an early-season mirage, the chances this team has of competing in a loaded AFC would plummet. Is the defense most like the one we saw in a Week 7 blowout win over the Ravens? Or is it the unit that looked lost against one of the NFL's worst offenses and a passer making his first start? The future is bright regardless, but the answer to that question will probably determine how far Cincinnati can go this year.Lions on 0-17 watchDan Campbell's Lions have at times been far more competitive than many expected. Detroit hung in there against Baltimore in Week 3, ultimately losing on a record-long field goal from Justin Tucker, and even gave the Rams a game last week in the first matchup against Matthew Stafford. But after a disastrous performance in a 44-6 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, the Lions are now eight contests into the season without a win, and things don't get any easier with the Steelers and Browns up next after their bye.Admirable as Detroit's initial efforts may have been, getting throttled at home by a bad Philadelphia squad highlighted all the concerns that created such low expectations for this team in the first place. The talent just isn't there, on either side of the ball, at this very early stage of a full-scale rebuild. The Lions are already one of just two NFL franchises to finish a campaign 0-16. Priority No. 1 for the second half of the season is to make sure they don't become the first-ever 0-17 club.Carson giveth, Carson taketh Justin Casterline / Getty Images Sport / GettyCarson Wentz has done some good things in his first campaign with the Colts. In many ways, he's a much better field general than we saw toward the end of his stay with the Eagles.Decision-making is still an issue, however - that's been the case even if his 14-1 TD-INT ratio coming into this week gave the impression that he was taking better care of the ball. Raw interception numbers don't account for risky passes that should have been picked off but weren't.Wentz just didn't get away with those ill-advised throws against the Titans, and it probably cost his side a crucial divisional win. An all-time bad blunder from his own end-zone gave Tennessee a walk-in pick-6 late in the fourth quarter. And even after Indianapolis fought back to force overtime, a terrible interception in the extra frame set the Titans up for the game-winning field goal. The Colts are still alive at 3-5, but they need more from Wentz. And if they don't get it soon, it'll be time to start discussing whether to even let him reach the snap count condition that would convert the draft pick traded to Philly from a second-round selection to a first.Belichick has the Chargers' numberDean Spanos presides over the Chargers, but Bill Belichick reminded the SoFi Stadium crowd that he owns their team. The 69-year-old picked up his 11th win in 14 meetings with the franchise as the Patriots' head coach - including postseason results - and moved to 7-0 since 2008.Belichick has gotten the better of four different sideline bosses - Norv Turner, Mike McCoy, Anthony Lynn, and Brandon Staley - and two star quarterbacks in Philip Rivers and Justin Herbert throughout the streak. He's used three different quarterbacks - Tom Brady, Cam Newton, and Mac Jones - to get those seven victories.Last year, New England capitalized on special-teams gaffes and shut out Los Angeles 45-0. The Bolts weren't as self-destructive this year, but Belichick got what he wanted nonetheless.Young's sophomore slump John Fisher / Getty Images Sport / GettyHeralded edge rusher Chase Young, the runaway winner of the 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year award, is on pace to finish his sophomore campaign with a mere three sacks. It's been a far less fruitful second season for Young, who has only 1.5 sacks through eight contests in 2021.There is still time for Young to snap out of his sophomore slump. After all, he only had two more sacks last year at the same point of the campaign. But last year, Young was dominating opponents even when he wasn't collecting sacks. The 22-year-old's consistency had us touting Young as the NFL's next great pass-rusher, following in the footsteps of Von Miller, Khalil Mack, Myles Garrett, and most recently, T.J. Watt. While he did force a fumble against the Broncos, Young went another week without a sack and was held without a single QB hit. Washington has been one of the most disappointing teams in the league, and Young has been a big part of the letdown.Eagles finally run the ballIt only took the Eagles seven games of inexcusably treating the offense like it was a high-powered passing attack to realize that running the ball might actually be a good idea. Better late than never?Don't get us wrong - nobody is calling for an old-school mentality of establishing the run no matter what. But when you constantly put games squarely on the shoulders of a young passer - mostly with poor results - and essentially abandon what has been a quietly efficient ground game, you're doing it wrong. Here's hoping Philly's 44-6 win over Detroit - in which Jalen Hurts and a committee of running backs combined for 46 carries, 236 yards, and four touchdowns - opened the club's eyes to this reality. The Eagles' offensive line can dominate opponents on the ground, and keeping the team out of third-and-long situations is only going to help Hurts as a quarterback.Next up for Philly is a home matchup against the Chargers, and L.A. may have the worst run defense in the NFL. Let's see if the Birds can stick to what worked so well this week and take advantage.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

After arguably the most embarrassing loss of the Patrick Mahomes era, the Kansas City Chiefs will attempt to rebound at Arrowhead on Monday night against the New York Giants and Daniel Jones, who seems to thrive as an underdog. Here's how we're betting Giants-Chiefs:C Jackson Cowart: Giants +10I was happy to play the Giants at +9.5, so I'll gladly play them at a key number against a Chiefs team that seemingly can't stop anyone.Entering Week 8, Kansas City ranks dead last in yards allowed per drive (41.3), points allowed per drive (2.93), and drive success rate (79.3%), and it's turned it over a league-leading 17 times. That wouldn't be such an issue if the club still had the NFL's best offense, but this group is still reeling from a 3-point dud a week ago.The Chiefs' injuries are catching up to them on offense, and Mahomes' oft-heroic efforts simply haven't unfolded - three of his worst nine games by passer rating have all come in the last month. New York is a mediocre squad, but at this point, so is Kansas City. Give me the points.Alex Moretto: Over 52I still refuse to believe the Chiefs' offense is a problem despite its brutal showing against the Titans. One week of dysfunction is simply too small a sample for a unit that's been dominant in this league for years and was the runaway leader in EPA per play through the first six weeks. Turnovers have been Kansas City's uncharacteristic downfall, and the offensive line has struggled, but this offense's talent will win out.The bounce-back - if you even want to call it that after one bad game - will happen on home turf against a Giants defense that ranks 31st in pass rush win rate. It also helps to finally have Tyreek Hill healthy and coming off a full week of practice. While I'm bullish about the Chiefs' offense returning to form, I don't feel at all the same way about the defense. There's just no quick fix here in terms of scheme or personnel for a unit giving up an NFL-worst 6.6 yards per play.Kansas City ranks an equally poor 28th in pass rush win rate and will face a test against New York's underrated offense, which gets Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney back. With neither side likely to generate much pressure, both quarterbacks will have their way with secondaries that hardly offer much resistance. It's going to be a fun one at Arrowhead.Matt Russell: Giants +10Maybe the Chiefs flip the switch on Monday night, and everything is fine with the offense. That would seem odd, given Kansas City mustered three measly points against a weak Tennessee secondary and wasn't all that explosive before that. If there was a flip to switch, the team would have done it by now.Simply put, if you can score just three points against the Titans, you can do that against anyone - meaning anyone can beat you.Even if the offense gets back to its familiar ways, the defense is still giving up 6.6 yards per play, which means the opposing side performs like the best offense in the league in every game the Chiefs play. While Jones and the Giants are not that, if they can be efficient enough at around 6.0 yards per play, then they can stay within this number.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The line movement for this game has been wild. It opened Sunday night around pick'em and was bet all the way to Cowboys -3 Tuesday. There was some quick buy-back on the Vikings, but it's moved to Minnesota -2.5 since then with the growing possibility that Dak Prescott doesn't play due to a calf injury. One thing we know for sure is this will not close at Minnesota -2.5. It'll move further in favor of the Vikings if the Cowboys rule Prescott out. However, we'll see Dallas close as favorites if the quarterback does play. So how do you bet this game right now?Well, we have to do our best to avoid as many variables as possible, and all three of us took to the player prop market to do so. Here's how we're betting Cowboys-Vikings:C Jackson Cowart: Tony Pollard over 38.5 rushing yardsThe more I stare at this line, the less it makes sense. Pollard has had a consistent role in Dallas' offense all season, averaging 70.4 rushing yards over the last five games. He's also recorded at least 10 carries and 40 yards in each of those five contests. So why is he priced so low here?Expect the Cowboys to lean on the run game with Prescott's injury hanging over this contest, which should mean a heavy dose of Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott. Both should feast against a Vikings defense allowing the third-most yards per carry (4.8), though Pollard comes at a much cheaper price.Alex Moretto: Ezekiel Elliott over 75.5 receiving yardsTrying to handicap this game without definitive news on Prescott is foolish. You can't justify a bet on the side or total at the current market price without knowing who will be starting under center for the Cowboys. I took the Vikings during the brief window they moved to +3 Tuesday, but it's unlikely the line swings that far back in Dallas' direction even if Dak is active tonight. If it does, take the +3.So how do we bet this amidst the uncertainty? Well, whether it's the inexperienced Cooper Rush under center or a banged-up Prescott, the Cowboys can be expected to lean heavily on the ground game, and I like the look here with Zeke's rushing yards over. Minnesota ranks 31st in run stop win rate and will be without big nose tackle Michael Pierce again tonight - a big blow against a Dallas line that ranks sixth in run block win rate.Matt Russell: Adam Thielen anytime touchdown (+110)I'll look for the most reliable player prop if forced to make a bet before knowing whether Prescott is good to go. Who won't see their probability altered much following late lineup news?Adam Thielen is Kirk Cousins' go-to in the red zone, and the Vikings still need to score points whether the Cowboys' offense is at full health or not. If Trevon Diggs is responsible for Justin Jefferson, then Thielen might end up being Cousins' focal point.Thielen has five touchdowns over six games this season, so there's certainly reason to believe there's some value here on a night that could go either way.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Teams have contacted the Philadelphia Eagles to inquire about Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox's availability, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Cox has publicly criticized the Eagles' new defensive scheme and his role within it, reportedly causing teams to see if Philadelphia has any interest in trading him ahead of the Nov. 2 deadline. However, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman reportedly views Cox as one of the team's "core veterans" and is unlikely to move the 30-year-old for anything less than a high draft pick.Philadelphia restructured Cox's contract in September to free up cap space, further complicating any potential trade. The defensive tackle now has dead-money hits of $11.84 million in 2021, $12.83 million in 2022, and $11.18 million in 2023, with little cap savings if traded or cut before 2024, per Over The Cap.Cox has struggled to replicate his All-Pro form this season for the Eagles, who sit at 2-5 entering Week 8. The Houston Texans are prepared to keep Deshaun Watson past Tuesday's deadline and resume trade discussions centered around the quarterback after the season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Many in the Texans organization reportedly want to trade Watson before the Nov. 2 trade deadline - including team owner Cal McNair - but general manager Nick Caserio will have the final say.Despite Watson's off-field issues, Caserio has been adamant about not moving the 26-year-old for anything less than what he believes the quarterback is worth. Houston apparently asked for a six-piece package of players and draft picks in exchange for Watson before the regular season.Watson, who's been a healthy scratch for the first seven weeks of the season amid police and NFL investigations, is facing lawsuits from 22 women who say he sexually assaulted them or committed sexual misconduct during massage sessions. It turns out it wasn't "broke" last week, as we rolled to an 8-2 record. That takes our player prop record to 40-19 (+21.1 units) since the uncertainty of Week 1.Sam Darnold over 240.5 passing yardsWe set out this season looking to back Kyle Pitts any time his yardage was lined at less than 50. He's 3-2 in such instances, but word is out on our hero, and the market has adjusted. So we turn our support in this game toward ... Sam Darnold. Wait, what?Darnold was benched last week but now goes up against the Falcons' defense, which has been more comfortable for opposing quarterbacks, getting pressure at the third-lowest rate in the league. The market is low on Darnold, which means it's time to buy at the relatively short number of 240.5 yards in a game that should go back and forth late.Robert Woods over 65.5 receiving yardsFantasy managers know all too well that Woods isn't producing the way they, or he, would have hoped. Never fear, the Texans' secondary is here. Whether or not Cooper Kupp does his usual thing, Woods has a chance to break out Sunday as the Rams build a big lead and spread the wealth around.Stefon Diggs anytime touchdown (-110)Diggs is another receiver whose been a step behind his past production. Like Woods, he should be more of a focal point this week. The Bills live for blowing out the Dolphins. One of Diggs' two touchdowns this season came in the first meeting, and after a bye week allowed the Bills to self-scout, look for them to take out their frustrations from a Monday night loss.D'Andre Swift over 46.5 receiving yardsThe Eagles are top 10 in defensive yards per carry but give up the fifth-most targets and receptions to opposing running backs. Swift nearly went for 100 yards last week, and the Philadelphia native will have plenty of opportunities to show out for the folks back home, especially if the Lions are in their usual position of trailing big in the second half.Baker Mayfield under 29.5 pass attemptsOur favorite prop bets are the ones with multiple ways to win. The pessimist in me wonders how long Mayfield might last in this game, as the Steelers' defense will look to test his ailing left shoulder. The optimist in me sees the sloppy weather report in Cleveland veering this game into a ground battle. The Browns are content with that matchup; their run defense ranks second in yards per carry against, while the offense gets Nick Chubb back to pair with last week's breakout star, D'Ernest Johnson.Elijah Mitchell over 71.5 yards rushingRunning back production relies on opportunity. Mitchell took the reins as the 49ers' main man last week. This week, he gets the carries against the Bears' depleted defense, which may again be without Akiem Hicks. The Buccaneers ran for 5.9 yards per carry on the Bears, who were missing their stout defensive tackle in Week 7.Ryan Tannehill under 244.5 yards passingHere's Tannehill's yardage against the Colts in his last five games against them: 197, 221, 147, 182, 204. Whether in a big win or big loss, with either the Titans or the Dolphins, it hasn't mattered; Tannehill has stayed under this number. It doesn't help that one of his big-name receivers will be out, as Julio Jones is sidelined yet again.Geno Smith under 218.5 passing yardsIs there a reason not to fade Geno Smith at this point? While it's possible he gets another big catch-and-run from DK Metcalf, but despite an 84-yard touchdown last week, Smith only had 83 yards the rest of the way. While the Jaguars' defense isn't nearly as good as the Saints', this is more about the Seahawks' conservative game plan for Smith.Damien Harris over 71.5 rushing yardsMy respect for Justin Herbert is the reason I'm not fading the Chargers star a season after he was baffled by Bill Belichick. Instead, I'll look to Harris who should be able to take advantage of Los Angeles' defensive game plan. The Chargers are content on getting gashed on the ground if it takes away explosive plays through the air. The Patriots will take that, and Harris can get more than a few 9-yard runs that may not add up to a win but will add up to over 71.5.Tom Brady under 305.5 passing yardsWe conclude with the easiest bet to make, even if it means fading the GOAT. Brady didn't crack 239 yards in three separate matchups with the Saints last season.New Orleans primarily plays a man-to-man style, which has proved successful against the Buccaneers in the past thanks to Marshon Lattimore's ability to handle Mike Evans. Meanwhile, Antonio Brown's best function is as a man-to-man defense-beater with his ability to shake defenders and ability to work crossing routes. He's out again for this potentially low-scoring game, at least relative to what Tom and Co. are used to.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Some Kansas City Chiefs players apparently aren't happy with fans' reactions to the team's struggles this season.Kansas City All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu and linebacker Anthony Hitchens both posted comments on an Instagram post from a Chiefs fan account expressing disappointment at criticisms leveled at the team in recent weeks."This might be one of the most toxic fan bases in all of sports," Mathieu wrote.Hitchens pointed out what Kansas City, the reigning back-to-back AFC champion, has achieved in recent years."All we did was go to three AFC (championship) games and two Super Bowls and one (Super Bowl) win ... in my first three years here so far," he wrote. "Y'all fans will never be satisfied, it's sad!"

Stephon Gilmore is ready to make his Carolina Panthers debut Sunday. The Panthers have activated the veteran cornerback from the physically unable to perform list ahead of their Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Saturday.Gilmore, who hasn't played this year due to a quad injury, was traded from the New England Patriots earlier this month in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2023. The Panthers pursued Gilmore after losing first-round rookie corner Jaycee Horn to a foot ailment. The 31-year-old Gilmore also missed five games in 2020 and couldn't replicate his success from 2019 when he was named Defensive Player of the Year. The four-time Pro Bowler is joining a cornerback depth chart in Carolina that also features Donte Jackson, rookie Keith Taylor, and CJ Henderson, among others.Gilmore will have a chance to face his former team in Week 9 when the Panthers take on the Patriots.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray "should be fine moving forward" after twisting his ankle on the final play of Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.Murray limped off the field after throwing an end-zone interception that sealed the 24-21 defeat. He wore a walking boot as a precautionary measure when he left the stadium, added Pelissero.Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters on Friday that Murray was feeling sore, but he's hopeful the extra time off will help the quarterback get healthier before the next game, according to ESPN's Josh Weinstein. The MVP candidate will have an additional three days to recover before attempting to bounce back from Arizona's first loss this season in a matchup with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9.Murray told reporters postgame that he wasn't seriously hurt."Yeah, I'm good. Guy rolled up on me, but other than that it's just unfortunate to lose like that," Murray said, according to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith. The 24-year-old is in the midst of his best pro season. He has completed 72.7% of his passes for 2,276 yards and 17 touchdowns against seven interceptions while adding 147 yards and three scores on the ground.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim believes the NFL may not have seen the last of J.J. Watt this season.Keim said Friday he's not ruling out Watt for the year. The defensive lineman was reportedly set for season-ending surgery after tearing his labrum, bicep, and rotator cuff in addition to dislocating his shoulder."I know surgery is an option, but at the same time I think there are some things that are possibly put in place where we want to play this thing out with a little bit more time and see how he responds," Keim said on the "Burns and Gambo" show, according to team reporter Darren Urban. "To me, if there is anybody who can bounce back and can do it, it's J.J. Watt."As far as I know, there is a possibility (of a return)," Keim added. "I don't want to rule that out yet."Watt was in the midst of his first campaign with the Cardinals after inking a two-year, $28-million contract last offseason. He recorded just one sack through seven games, though he also accumulated 10 quarterback hits. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year has been limited by injuries in recent years, playing in just 48 out of a possible 80 games from 2016-20.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. DeSean Jackson is looking for another team amid his slow start with the Los Angeles Rams.Head coach Sean McVay announced Friday he's granted Jackson permission to seek a trade, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 34-year-old, who joined L.A. as a free agent in the offseason, has amassed only eight catches for 221 yards and one touchdown on 15 targets through seven appearances in 2021.McVay said the three-time Pro Bowl pass-catcher won't play in Week 8 and "deserves the opportunity to see if there are better options out there for him," according to Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network. The Rams are the fourth different team of Jackson's career. He's enjoyed time with the Philadelphia Eagles on two different stints (2008-13, 2019-20), Washington Football Team (2014-16), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2017-18).Jackson is most known for his speed and big-play potential. The former second-round pick, who's scored a 75-yard touchdown this year, has led the NFL in yards per catch on four occasions and averages 17.5 per reception throughout his career.Any team trading for Jackson would acquire a player who has struggled to stay healthy, missing 24 regular-season games since 2019.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Green Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan suffered a torn ACL in Thursday's win against the Arizona Cardinals and won't return this season, his agent announced Friday.Tonyan sustained the ailment in the third quarter versus the Cardinals on a 32-yard reception, the Packers' longest play of the night. The injury is a significant hit to Green Bay's receiving corps, which faced Arizona without wide receivers Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.Tonyan, who broke out last year with 586 yards and 11 touchdowns on 52 receptions, ranks third on the team in targets (29), catches (18), and yards (204) this season behind Adams and running back Aaron Jones. The 27-year-old has also racked up two scores. With veteran Marcedes Lewis and Josiah Deguara the only tight ends left on the depth chart, the Packers may add another player at the position to the active roster before their Week 9 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.Lewis and Deguara have 13 receptions and 136 yards combined this year.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Jameis Winston has special feelings for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the New Orleans Saints quarterback will treat his former team just like any other club when they line up against each other Sunday."Obviously, I want to beat 'em, I want to beat 'em bad," Winston said Thursday, according to The Athletic's Katherine Terrell. "And in my heart, I'm ready to rock. But at the end of the day, they're another opponent, another opponent that we got to beat that's in this division."Tampa Bay drafted Winston first overall in 2015, and he started 70 games for the team over five years. The club opted not to re-sign him after a 2019 campaign in which he became the first quarterback ever to toss 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season. The Buccaneers added Tom Brady in free agency that offseason. The 27-year-old then agreed to join the Saints as a backup for a fresh start to his career."Everything happens for a reason, and I'm very grateful for that organization and the Glazer family for giving me the opportunity to be drafted No. 1 overall to that city," Winston said. "(Tampa) has done a lot for me, and I know I've done a lot for that city ... I definitely love that city, and now we get to play them. So this week, it's time to play. All the lovey-dovey stuff is behind."Winston, who sat behind Drew Brees and Taysom Hill on the depth chart in 2020, watched the Saints win the NFC South and sweep their regular-season series against the Buccaneers last year. However, Tampa Bay went on to defeat New Orleans in the postseason en route to winning the Super Bowl."That was tough," Winston said of last season's playoff loss, according to Rick Stroud of Tampa Bay Times. "That was my first time in the playoffs, so I definitely wanted to win that one. It was fun. But this is this year, and we get them twice and maybe three times this year, so let's start with this one."The 4-2 Saints currently sit second in the NFC South behind the 6-1 Buccaneers.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Ever since Patrick Mahomes took over as Kansas City's starting quarterback in 2018, the Chiefs have had an air of inevitability about them.Mahomes' first three seasons as the starter ended with an overtime loss in the AFC Championship Game, a Super Bowl title, and another Super Bowl appearance. The Chiefs could seemingly always count on Mahomes to find the quarter behind the ear, to put the body back together after it'd been sawed in half. Any deficit seemed surmountable. That hasn't been the case this season. The Chiefs are 3-4 and coming off the worst loss of the Mahomes era - a thrashing at the hands of the Tennessee Titans that was as thorough as its 27-3 score indicates. Kansas City has one of the league's worst defenses, and it's also tied for last in turnover differential. If the regular season ended today, the Chiefs would have to leapfrog three other clubs just to be the AFC's final playoff qualifier.According to Stathead, just 17.9% of the teams that started a season 3-4 since 1990 made the playoffs. The NFL added a seventh postseason spot in each conference last year, but the odds are still stacked against the Chiefs. Is Kansas City really this bad, or is this just a speed bump en route to another deep playoff run? Let's explore. So, what's the problem here?It starts with the defense, which is genuinely terrible. The Chiefs' D ranks 31st in DVOA and EPA per play, and it ranks dead last in drive success rate allowed, yards per drive, and points per drive. It doesn't matter if teams are rushing or passing, either: KC's defense is 31st in both rush and pass DVOA, while its EPA per dropback is 29th and its EPA per rush is 30th. Any way you look at it, this defense stinks. Wesley Hitt / Getty ImagesWhat about the offense? The offense has been much better, but it's had its share of problems. It's ranked fifth in DVOA and EPA per play, and it leads the league in drive success rate and yards per drive - an indication that Mahomes and the gang are still capable of motoring up and down the field. They just can't finish, in large part because of turnovers. The Chiefs have 17 giveaways, five more than any other team. And Mahomes is tied for the league lead with nine interceptions. For context, he tossed just 11 picks in the previous two seasons combined.Woah.Yeah. The offense has struggled in its last three games. After leading the league in DVOA from Weeks 1 to 4, Kansas City's offense ranked just 24th from Weeks 5 to 7, with a net yards per play mark of only 5.5, according to Football Outsiders' Aaron Schatz. The struggle is real.Is the offensive line still a problem? It's not great, but it's not a disaster, either: The Chiefs' O-line ranks 13th in pass-block win rate. The bigger trend is the way teams are plotting to stop Mahomes. Per Next Gen Stats, he's been blitzed on just 10.7% of his dropbacks, the lowest total in the league by more than six percentage points. And he's also faced the highest percentage of two-deep safety coverages, which are deployed to prevent big plays.Teams are essentially forcing the Chiefs to be patient and drive the field steadily instead of hitting on explosive plays - gains of at least 20 yards - and it's working:

He had an 11-yard reception shortly after returning in the third quarter but didn't make another catch the rest of the night. He tried to return late in the fourth quarter after missing another chunk of action as the Cardinals attempted to scrape out a late comeback.Kingsbury said the star wideout ran onto the field on his own a couple of times, adding that he wants Hopkins to be more cautious given the number of games remaining in the season, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.Hopkins entered Week 8 with a hamstring injury and was listed as questionable to face the Packers leading up to the affair.Despite his limited snaps, the five-time Pro Bowler led the Cardinals in receiving yards in the 24-21 loss. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was paid nearly $128 million over the last two fiscal years, according to Ken Belson of The New York Times.Goodell's pay, which was revealed during a meeting between team owners on Wednesday in Manhattan, was reportedly boosted by bonuses for closing media contracts and the new 10-year collective bargaining agreement between players and team owners. The commissioner's income makes him one of the highest-paid executives in the United States, according to Belson.Owners saw during a slideshow that Goodell averaged $63,900,050 per year over the course of the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns. They were told that Goodell's pay was due to him aiding the league in locking down favorable labor and media deals, attendees told Belson.Goodell is under contract through 2024. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is confident he'll play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, but he's still waiting on a green light from his club."I want to play just because I want to be out there and help my team," Prescott said Thursday, according to USA Today's Jori Epstein. "Obviously, missing the time that I did last year was no fun. But knowing we're a contender (and) can grow, I can understand the big picture."Prescott is dealing with a calf strain that has limited his participation at practice over the last two weeks. The ailment reportedly won't cause Prescott to miss any games, but the Cowboys have yet to confirm the signal-caller's status for Sunday Night Football following their bye week."It's not fully my decision because there is a bigger picture," the two-time Pro Bowler said, according to the Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken."I don't want this to linger past this week," added Prescott, who also believes his calf issue has something to do with the season-ending ankle injury he suffered in 2020."We're trying to push it as far as we can right now," head coach Mike McCarthy said of Prescott's rehab.Dallas entered its bye last week as one of the NFL's hottest teams after winning five straight, and the offense currently ranks first in points and yards per game.Prescott, 28, has put himself in early MVP conversations and is on pace for a career year. Patrick Mahomes let his teammates know that he's got to improve for the Kansas City Chiefs to climb out of their 3-4 start."I've said something to them, that I've got to be better," Mahomes said, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher. "At the same time, they have that mindset that they're going to try to build me up. It's a thing where you're not going to play your best game every single game, and that's when you have to rely on your other guys to kind of step up and make plays for you."The star quarterback's shaky 2021 campaign seemingly hit rock bottom Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Mahomes completed just over 57% of his passes for 206 yards with zero touchdowns to one interception. His 62.3 passer rating was also the lowest regular-season mark of his career."You can just watch the tape and know that I need to play better in order to have success,'' Mahomes said. "There were plays where guys were open. There were plays where we had matchups down the field that I didn't hit that I usually would give those guys opportunities to make plays."The 26-year-old finds himself in unchartered waters due to his struggles. He's thrown an interception in six straight games, while his nine picks are tied for most in the NFL.However, Mahomes believes minor adjustments on his technique could help aid his issues."It's just stuff that I've always got to work on, and I kind of lose sometimes during the season and have to get better with,'' Mahomes explained. "It's hanging in the pocket, working on my footwork, staying on time, all that stuff like that."The Chiefs sit at the bottom of the AFC West alongside the Denver Broncos. We're starting to see a theme here. While two out of five ain't bad, it doesn't get us back into the doubloon silo we were at the start of the season, even if the sweat alone is worth the -1.1 units per week.Whether it's overtime or a late missed field goal, we've certainly been on the right track each week in a season where underdog winners are hard to come by. Four out of our five plays covered last week, a consistent theme that's been our silver lining. How it worksWe parlay five underdogs together in 10 different three-team parlays. Using every combination of a three-team parlay is called a round robin, so we're going to use a total of 1.1 units to make 11 different bets: 10 three-team parlays and one five-team parlay, each for .1 units. If three teams pull off the upset, you'll likely double your money. If four teams win, as they did in Week 3, you're connecting on four separate parlays and will be very pleased with the return. If all five teams win, like they did in Week 1, then it's back into the pool, swimming in gold doubloons like heirs to the McDuck fortune.Who to playPanthers +140A hearty congratulations to the Atlanta Falcons for their back-to-back wins. We're collectively impressed with victories over the *check notes* Jets and Dolphins. Now they're back to three-point favorites over a team they aren't better than.Sam Darnold's stock may somehow be at an all-time low, but the Falcons' defense has made Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson look like All-Pros in those two wins. While Christian McCaffrey isn't ready to return, the Panthers' defense gets a jolt with Shaq Thompson back, plus Matt Rhule is hopeful Stephon Gilmore will make his Carolina debut.Even with 1.5 points for home-field advantage, I still only have Atlanta as a half-point better than the Panthers, so with the moneyline at +140, we're paying Darnold-induced bargain prices for a team with a defense that will be the best unit on the field.Jaguars +150Maybe it's a massive mistake or maybe a chance for personal growth. No, I'm not talking about the last month in the life of Urban Meyer. I'm referring to having the Bears in this slot until injuries to the defense soured me on a play that in past years I might stubbornly stick to (and still might ATS).Instead, the Jacksonville Jaguars find their way into the RR MLP. Can they win consecutive games? With Geno Smith under center for the opponents, anything is possible. This is more of a Seahawks fade than support for Meyer's ability to prepare off a bye week.Getting 13 days of preparation to face a team with just five days to recover from a season-crushing loss means we have to ignore the branding and reputation of both teams, especially given what we've seen from Pete Carroll lately. Look for Trevor Lawrence to pick apart the thinnest secondary the Seahawks have employed this millennium.Patriots +200I'm not smart enough to know what Bill Belichick did to force Justin Herbert into a 26-for-53, 209-yard, two-interception performance in their meeting last season, but I know it did, in fact, happen in the 45-0 Patriots win. Now we add in the entire transplant Patriots-fan population of California - a group known to make some noise. The Chargers are getting beat up on the ground, so a big game is on the horizon for Damien Harris, and Mac Jones will have opportunities to keep this game close. With the Chargers' history of special teams woes and Belichick's ability to find the hidden advantages, we'll take our chances on the Pats.Saints +200Our upset of the week elaborately explains why there's some value in the Saints here, so we won't belabor the point. We did so without mentioning Alvin Kamara or the Saints special teams, who each could crack a game-changing play at any time.Giants +350This is what the round-robin moneyline parlay is for - taking shots on big underdogs that can make your season instead of just your week. You may not want to put a full unit down on the 'dog to win outright, so you include it here, and it's only responsible for .7 units. The handicap isn't that complicated. If the Chiefs can play 60 minutes against the Titans' defense and only score three points, then they're capable of anything against anyone. And if that's the case, then they can be beaten by anyone. In the Daniel Jones era, the Giants are much better against the spread on the road than at home, so +10 is certainly a play. If we expect a game inside of that number, getting a +350 price on the Giants being able to outscore the Chiefs is certainly valuable, especially with them poised to get reinforcements back on offense. Here's how the odds shake down this week.PARLAYODDS (Approx.)CAR+JAX+NE+1600CAR+JAX+NO+1700CAR+JAX+NYG+2500CAR+NE+NO+2100CAR+NE+NYG+3200CAR+NO+NYG+3200JAX+NE+NO+3300JAX+NE+NYG+3200JAX+NO+NYG+3300NE+NO+NYG+4000CAR+JAX+NE+NO+NYG+24100Who are your five underdogs for a football betting lottery ticket?Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman J.J. Watt will undergo shoulder surgery, likely ending his season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Watt dislocated his shoulder in the second quarter Sunday versus his former team, the Houston Texans, but finished the contest. In addition to the dislocation, the veteran defender also tore his labrum, biceps, and rotator cuff, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Should he fail to return in 2021, Watt will play no more than half the regular season for the fourth time in the last six years. Back surgery, a broken leg, and a torn pectoral forced him to miss major chunks of the 2016, 2017, and 2019 campaigns.Watt notched his first sack for the Cardinals in Week 6, bringing down Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns. Despite the underwhelming sack total, Watt's 28 quarterback pressures rank 14th among NFL defenders through seven weeks.A three-time Defensive Player of the Year with the Texans, Watt signed a two-year, $28-million contract with the Cardinals last offseason.Arizona hoped he and Chandler Jones would serve as one of the top edge tandems in the NFL. Watt and Jones both have 102 career sacks, tying them with each other for 31st on the NFL's official all-time leaderboard.Markus Golden actually leads the club in sacks with six. Jones, who has five - but collected all of them in Week 1 - is expected to return from a two-game absence when the Cardinals face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football in Week 8.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. As expected, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to add to their defense ahead of the Nov. 2 trade deadline. The Chiefs have made an offer to the Pittsburgh Steelers for disgruntled pass-rusher Melvin Ingram, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network.Pittsburgh is reportedly open to moving the three-time Pro Bowler, but the Steelers ideally want to send him to an NFC team, Kinkhabwala adds.Ingram wants out of Pittsburgh due to reduced playing time, according to reports. The 32-year-old was on the field for the majority of his team's snaps through the first month but has played fewer than 50% in two of the last three games, including a season-low 26% in Week 6.The veteran defensive end has racked up just 10 tackles and one sack in 2021.Meanwhile, Kansas City has one of the NFL's worst defenses, ranking 27th in points allowed and 32nd in sacks. Ingram visited the Chiefs during the offseason before signing a one-year deal with Pittsburgh. The Steelers are coming off a bye and will face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Yardbirds were a band in the 1960s, who at various times featured guitarists Jimmy Plant, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck. That's quite a trio. They had a hit song entitled "Over Under Sideways Down," which included the lyric "Laughing, joking, drinking, smoking, Till I've spent my wage."That's a perfect summation of the Thursday Night Football betting experience, so we'll honor the trio of music legends with a trio of over/under and (touch)down bets to spend our wage on ... and hope they don't go sideways. The yards birdIt was nice of the NFL to get the wrench-throwing portion of the Thursday night program out of the way early. Last week, we patiently waited a while to find out who would be available for the Browns and Broncos. This week, we know what to expect with Davante Adams and Allen Lazard both on the reserve/COVID-19 list. While that's a big void to fill for the Packers, it does open up some possibilities for prop bets in their game away to the Cardinals.Adams missed two-and-a-half games last season, and while the first instinct is to assume another wide receiver replaced Adams' production, it's Robert Tonyan who was a big-time target for Aaron Rodgers.GAMESTATS@ NO5 targets / 5 recs / 50 yardsvs ATL6 targets / 6 recs / 98 yards / 3 TDOpportunity dipped for Tonyan once Adams came back, but look for the tight end to get back in Rodgers' view Thursday. The issue for this bet might be that the Cardinals are the best team in the league against tight end production this season - they haven't given up a touchdown to one yet. But with apologies to Anthony Firkser, the best tight end they've seen all year is Tyler Higbee (four catches, 36 yards).Pick: Robert Tonyan over 38.5 receiving yardsA TD that's definitely going to happenIn a game featuring two high-octane offenses, there are plenty of touchdown options to choose from. Picking one to hit is the hard part.Someone has to take over those goal-line, or near-goal line, plays that Rodgers likes to run with Adams. The guy who Rodgers trusts to make the catch in tight quarters is Randall Cobb. Available at +175, Cobb's likelihood of scoring can't be accurately assessed by sportsbooks given how his role may change, especially in the red zone. So, we may be getting some value with Cobb's implied probability at 34.8%. If he assumes Adams' role, his chances of scoring should be closer to 50-50.Pick: Cobb anytime touchdown (+175)A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it doesMany Packers and Cardinals players are considered somewhat likely to score a touchdown, but we'll use this space each week to go deep down the depth chart to find someone at a relatively high price.I didn't think AJ Dillon at +333 was deep enough down the board for this category, so here's a more suitable one: If Cobb can't get open on the designed plays, and everyone else gets locked up, you know Rodgers is fine with scooting into the end zone on a scramble.Pick: Rodgers anytime touchdown (+600)Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. The Houston Texans are trading running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints, head coach Sean Payton confirmed Thursday, according to Amie Just of NOLA.com.Payton said Ingram will begin practicing with the Saints on Friday and is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran running back began his career in New Orleans.Ingram rushed for 294 yards and a touchdown across seven outings in Houston. He joined the Texans on a one-year, $2.5-million contract in the offseason. The 31-year-old will return to New Orleans, where he played from 2011-18. He eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark with the Saints in 2016 and 2017, sharing carries with Alvin Kamara in the latter campaign.Ingram left the Saints in 2019 to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he spent two seasons.New Orleans sought a backfield boost to ease the load on Kamara, who's on pace to shatter his career high for carries in one season. Though Ingram is averaging only 3.2 yards per carry this year, he's run against a loaded box on a league-high 62% of his rush attempts, per Aaron Reiss of The Athletic. The Texans still have David Johnson and Phillip Lindsay in their backfield.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Until last season, the quarterback with the most wins at Cleveland's FirstEnergy Stadium wasn't a member of the Browns, but Ben Roethlisberger.Baker Mayfield surpassed Roethlisberger's mark of 11 victories in November 2020, and the Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller joked Wednesday that he's happy his record no longer stands."AFC North football's always going to be rivals and it's gonna be great games," Roethlisberger said, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "I'm glad that I'm not the most winning quarterback in their stadium history anymore."The Steelers will travel to Cleveland on Sunday for the first of two matchups between the division rivals this season. The Browns could be without Mayfield, who's dealing with a torn labrum.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

A once mouthwatering Thursday night showdown has since been downgraded a bit due to the Packers' COVID-19 issues, but it's still a big step up from what we've been treated to the past couple of Thursdays.Green Bay will be shorthanded as it attempts to knock off the league's lone remaining undefeated team, while the Cardinals will aim to move to 8-0 and keep setting the pace in the NFC.Here's how we're betting Packers-Cardinals:C Jackson Cowart: Rodgers over 254.5 passing yardsWhen news broke that Davante Adams will likely miss Thursday's contest, it felt like the entire betting market shifted as far as it could against this Packers offense. Are we sure that's the right play?Over the last two seasons, Aaron Rodgers has averaged nearly 65 more passing yards without Adams and posted a 6-0 record. The reigning MVP has thrown for at least 283 yards in each of his last five games without Adams and is in a favorable spot against a Cardinals secondary that's benefitted from a mostly pedestrian slate of quarterbacks. The Packers are also hopeful Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who's missed the last four games with a hamstring injury, will return Thursday. Rodgers threw for 255 and 261 yards, respectively, in his last two games when MVS was active. Even with Adams shelved, this number is too low to ignore.Alex Moretto: Cardinals over 29.5 points (-115)Your first thought may be why I elected to go with the Cardinals' team total, as opposed to betting Arizona -6.5 or over 50.5. Well, I like to eliminate as many variables as possible when betting, and I'm not entirely sure what to expect of this depleted Green Bay offense with Rodgers under center.Adams is a huge loss - assuming he's officially ruled out before kickoff - and it amplifies the absence of Allen Lazard, but we've seen Rodgers do a lot more with a lot less. A depleted receiving core is enough to push me away from the Packers, but it's not enough for me to fade them entirely. Rodgers pulled James Jones off the street in 2015 - hoodie and all - and turned him into the team's leading receiver. I'm not willing to bet he can't do the same with MVS, Randall Cobb, and Robert Tonyan. What I am willing to bet on is the Cardinals' offense winning their matchup against Green Bay's defense. This is by far the Packers' toughest test of the season, having faced just one offense inside the top half of the league in yards per play thus far and only two inside the top 20. Despite the cake schedule, Green Bay's defensive metrics are uninspiring. The Packers have been gashed by the run and are dealing with a barrage of injuries as they get set to face a fully healthy Cardinals offense that ranks near the top of the league in every important metric.I wouldn't be surprised if the Packers finished with 31 points or 13, but what would surprise me is if they managed to hold the Cardinals under 30.Matt Russell: Packers +6.5Does Rodgers seem like a guy who's just going to curl up without his binky? While Adams is the definition of reliable, his absence has created an overreaction to the point spread that we've seen over and over elsewhere this season, including three times in the last week alone. The Browns, Giants, and Raiders all got sold at a discount when injury information sent the market into a tizzy. The Cardinals might be able to rack up the points against the Packers, but they didn't do so against the Texans last week or the 49ers in their previous home game. Arizona lit up the scoreboard in Cleveland, but it was thanks to a combination of Baker Mayfield panic turnovers, dubious drive-extending penalties, and a touchdown on a third-and-21.We're not asking Rodgers to win this game single-handedly, only to execute enough to keep this game close. That's a good bet on any day, especially considering he's undefeated in his career with Adams out.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Only six cornerbacks have ever won NFL Defensive Player of the Year in the 50-year history of the award. After a historic start to the season, could Trevon Diggs be the seventh? The Cowboys cornerback - who fittingly wears No. 7 - has intercepted seven passes through his team's first six games and has at least one pick in each contest, both tying NFL records. Despite playing one fewer contest than most defenders, he currently leads the league in interceptions (7), interception yards (142), passes defended (11), and defensive touchdowns (2), and he's on pace to break or match NFL records in all four categories.Still, oddsmakers remain skeptical of his chances to win DPOY. Diggs is currently priced at +500 to win the award behind Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett (+350) and just ahead of Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt (+600) and Rams lineman Aaron Donald (+800) - the three players who entered the year as the favorites to win the award.PLAYERODDSMyles Garrett+350Trevon Diggs+500T.J. Watt+600Aaron Donald+800Derwin James+2500Jalen Ramsey+2500Maxx Crosby+2500Joey Bosa+3000Devin White+3500Nick Bosa+3500Chandler Jones+4000Matt Judon+4000Danielle Hunter+5000Brian Burns+5000Darius Leonard+6500Jessie Bates+6500Chase Young+6500Conversely, it's been a meteoric rise for Diggs, who was dealing as high as 150-1 before the year prior to his ball-hawking start to the season. And while this pace surely isn't sustainable across 17 games, it doesn't need to be: The last player to intercept seven passes through six games was Hall of Fame cornerback Rod Woodson, who ran away with DPOY honors in 1993 despite recording just one more interception over his final 10 games. It's not just the interceptions, either. Diggs' expected points added (EPA) when targeted is a ridiculous -37.7 - by far the best by any defender - and his passer rating allowed (53.5) ranks ninth among players with at least 100 coverage snaps. That comes despite him allowing the fourth-most receiving yards (419) in the league, which is easily one of the two biggest factors working against him.The other factor? His competition is on a record pace, too. Garrett currently leads the NFL in sacks (9.5) and is on pace to barely eclipse Michael Strahan's official record of 22.5 set in 2001, with an assist from the 17-game schedule. Garrett already set the Browns' franchise record for sacks in a game (4.5) and also ranks in the top two in the league in quarterback hits (18) and tackles for loss (9).He's unlikely to sustain that record sack pace, just like Diggs likely won't intercept a pass in each of the next 11 games. Close competitions like this tend to favor linemen and pass-rushers, who have won this award in six of the last seven years. The one exception was Stephon Gilmore, whose final stat line was arguably less impressive than what we've seen from Diggs thus far.The Cowboys star has benefitted from some luck along the way, but it's hard to deny the magnitude of his interception streak, which feels like a rarity compared to the gaudy sack totals that come along seemingly every few seasons. Even if he doesn't sustain his interception totals, his overall value on defense is being shorted by the market thus far. And if he does threaten the NFL record for interceptions in a season? This award will be Diggs' to lose.C Jackson Cowart is a sports betting writer at theScore. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa isn't paying attention to the grapevine ahead of what could be a career-altering trade deadline."Honestly, I'm not even worried about that," he told reporters Wednesday. "I don't even know when the trade deadline is."The Dolphins are rumored to be pursuing a trade for Deshaun Watson. The Houston Texans star faces 22 lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints from women who are accusing him of sexual assault or misconduct, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday the league doesn't have enough information to remove Watson's eligibility.Miami drafted Tagovailoa fifth overall in 2020 but is still waiting for the former Alabama star to deliver on his potential. The 23-year-old could be shipped to another team if the Dolphins pull the trigger on a Watson deal.Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has repeatedly backed Tagovailoa publicly, though he hasn't said the franchise isn't interested in Watson."Honestly, I don't base my emotions off of who says anything about me or who is saying what," Tagovailoa said. "All I can do is my job and do it to the best of my capabilities. Everything else, I mean it's out of my control. But I have the utmost confidence and trust that I am the quarterback of this team, just off of conversations that I've had with Flo and whatnot. That obviously stays between us. But yeah, I feel very confident that I'm the person."The Dolphins have lost three of the four games Tagovailoa has started this season and are 1-6 overall. He's thrown for 835 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions over his four appearances. The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 2.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. He's recorded 16 tackles, five tackles for loss, and a sack through seven contests.Meanwhile, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is listed as questionable for Thursday with a hamstring injury. However, Arizona will likely see the return of pass-rusher Chandler Jones, who was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after he'd missed two games.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Baker Mayfield isn't ruling out playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cleveland Browns quarterback said Wednesday that it's "absolutely" possible he could return for Sunday's game after sitting out Week 7 to rest his injured non-throwing shoulder."It definitely (helped). A noticeable difference in range of motion and strength," Mayfield said, according to ESPN's Jake Trotter. "Trying to get that strength back and be able to go as close to 100 percent as possible. But if that's not the case, then we trust the guys we have out there."Mayfield is dealing with a torn labrum and a tuberosity fracture. The signal-caller had played through the labrum injury since Week 2 but was forced to the sidelines after aggravating the ailment and sustaining the fracture in an Oct. 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.Backup Case Keenum replaced Mayfield last week and led Cleveland to a 17-14 win over the Denver Broncos to snap a two-game losing streak. While Mayfield is pushing to return, he reiterated that he won't play until he's ready to perform up to his standards."I said it last week, if I feel like I'm not able to be close to 100 percent and be able to help this team - if I'm in a situation where I'm going to hurt the team - I'm not going to go," Mayfield said. The former No. 1 overall pick has completed 67.1% of his passes for 1,474 yards and six touchdowns against three interceptions this season.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown has an ankle sprain that could force him to miss an extended period of time, coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday, according to Pewter Report's Jon Ledyard."Shoot, with that injury, who knows?" Arians said. "It could be (after the Week 9 bye), it could be a long time. It's just wait and see how the foot (heals)."Arians described the ailment as a sprain near the wideout's heel. Brown was spotted using a crutch during Wednesday's practice. If Brown is inactive for this Sunday's clash against the New Orleans Saints, it would mark his third missed contest of the season, including last week's 38-3 win over the Chicago Bears. He was placed on the COVID-19 list prior to Tampa Bay's Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams before missing time due to the ankle injury. The four-time All-Pro has 29 receptions for 418 yards and four touchdowns in five games this season.Copyright © 2021 Score Media Ventures Inc.
