Trubisky: Comparisons to Mahomes, Watson 'are never going to stop'
Mitchell Trubisky knows full well that he was drafted ahead of star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. It's a fact that Trubisky hears often, and with his Chicago Bears set to face Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the 2017 NFL Draft order is again a conversation."The comparisons are out there and they are never going to stop," Trubisky said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. "It's kind of me, Pat, and Deshaun are kind of all grouped together because we are in the same draft class, drafted in the first round and all that. But there are no do-overs. We are where we are."Mahomes was selected 10th overall in that draft and won the league MVP award in his first full season as the Chiefs' starting quarterback. Watson was selected two picks later and he has played like an MVP contender this season. The Bears traded up to draft Trubisky with the second overall pick, and while he led Chicago to the playoffs with a 12-4 record last season, he's struggled to match the consistency his draft partners have enjoyed."Our careers are going in different paths, and they will for the rest of time, and they'll be compared against each other," Trubisky said. "It's just the nature of the beast, but I'm in competition with myself and just trying to be the best version of me and go out there and win games for the Chicago Bears."It's just something that I can't control. It is what it is. But two good guys to be compared to. Hopefully, we just keep getting better and help the league."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Jaguars fire Tom Coughlin
Tom Coughlin has been relieved of his duties as executive vice president of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced Wednesday night."I determined earlier this fall that making this move at the conclusion of the 2019 season would be in everyone's best interests but, in recent days, I reconsidered and decided to make this change immediately," team owner Shad Khan said in a statement. The National Football League Players Association warned players on Monday about signing with the Jaguars after the union won an arbitration grievance against Jacksonville regarding a violation of the collective bargaining agreement. The NFLPA said one player was fined 25 times for more than $700,000 during the 2018 offseason for skipping team appointments, and former Jaguars linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. later revealed he was the player in question. Players aren't required to be at team facilities during voluntary portions of the offseason.

Prescott dealing with shoulder injury, expected to play vs. Eagles
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott injured his throwing shoulder last week but is expected to be ready for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.Prescott was hurt in the first quarter of the win over the Los Angeles Rams. While he was able to finish the game, the quarterback had a season-low 23 attempts in the 44-21 blowout."We don't anticipate him throwing much in practice today," said Garrett.Dallas was encouraged by the results of Prescott's MRI, but the team wants to protect him in practice ahead of what is essentially a division-deciding game, per Gehlken.Prescott is in the midst of a career year. He is second in the league in passing yards (4,334) and has already thrown for the most touchdowns in his four NFL seasons (26) with two games remaining.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Suggs: Reid quickly convinced me to join Chiefs
After the Arizona Cardinals released linebacker Terrell Suggs on Friday, it was reported the veteran would hold out if claimed by any team besides the Baltimore Ravens. That ended up not being the case when the Kansas City Chiefs picked up Suggs on Monday, as a quick conversation with head coach Andy Reid was all the convincing he needed."I was really uncertain about my future last week, but I talked to Coach, and it was a brief conversation and I was like, 'OK,'" Suggs said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher. "I asked Coach, 'I just learned the hard way that a player like me just (doesn't) fit in anywhere.' He was like, 'Trust me, you'll fit in here.'"Suggs joins a Chiefs team that just lost Alex Okafor and Emmanuel Ogbah to season-ending injuries. The 17-year pro will provide Kansas City with some veteran savvy and pass-rushing ability, but the match was just as much about what the Chiefs can do for Suggs."It's hard to turn down (playing with) the reigning MVP (Patrick Mahomes) and a playoff team and just the exciting things they're doing, this atmosphere," Suggs said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Beckham commits to Browns: 'I'm not going anywhere'
Odell Beckham Jr. put speculation about his future with the Cleveland Browns to bed on Wednesday."I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here," said the star wide receiver, according to ESPN's Jake Trotter. "We'll figure this thing out. It's just too special to leave."Asked if that means he's committing to the AFC North club for 2020, Beckham said he fully expects the team to run it back after falling far short of expectations this season."Yeah, we're going to be here. We're going to do it again," he said. "And we're going to be what we felt like we should’ve been."After entering the season as favorites to win the division, the Browns have gone 6-8 and are nearly eliminated from playoff contention. Moreover, Beckham hasn't looked like himself in his first campaign in Cleveland following a shocking March trade from the New York Giants. He has posted a career-low two touchdowns through 14 games and is averaging only 65 yards per contest (his previous worst mark was 75.5 in an injury-ravaged 2017 season).Beckham's future with the Browns was called into question when it was reported he encouraged opposing players and coaches in October to pry him loose from Cleveland. The three-time Pro Bowler reportedly is still stunned by the trade and unsure of his fit with the Browns.Beckham is signed through the 2023 season.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Power Rankings - Week 16: 1 draft prospect each team should target
The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. With the regular season nearly complete and the 2020 NFL Draft fast approaching, we're identifying one college prospect each team should be targeting.1. Baltimore Ravens (12-2)Ron Jenkins / Getty ImagesPrevious rank: 1Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma: Imagine the Ravens' defense if a stud every-down linebacker gets added to the mix. Murray is a versatile, athletic defender who can fill the void left by C.J. Mosley and profiles as an ideal fit in Baltimore near the end of the first round.2. New Orleans Saints (11-3)Previous rank: 3Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina: New Orleans already features two talented edge rushers in Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport. Pairing them with a first-round tackle would take this defense to the next level. Kinlaw erupted as a senior and could end up a draft-day gem.3. Seattle Seahawks (11-3)Previous rank: 4Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama: Cornerback isn't Seattle's biggest need, but Diggs possesses everything Pete Carroll loves at the position. Long arms, physicality, elite athleticism ... the Crimson Tide defender practically screams Seahawks. We're salivating at the fit.4. San Francisco 49ers (11-3)Previous rank: 2Creed Humphrey, OL, Oklahoma: One of the few weak spots on San Francisco's roster is the interior offensive line. Humphrey has the look of a Day 1 starter and would bolster a 49ers run game that Kyle Shanahan's scheme depends on.5. Kansas City Chiefs (10-4)Carmen Mandato / Getty ImagesPrevious rank: 5D'Andre Swift, RB, Georgia: Close your eyes and picture Kansas City's current offense, but with a potential All-Pro running back added to the mix. It's a pretty scary thought, isn't it?6. Green Bay Packers (11-3)Previous rank: 6Henry Ruggs, WR, Alabama: While a handful of receivers attempted to emerge opposite Davante Adams in 2019, none truly succeeded. Coach Matt LaFleur needs a speedy wideout, and Ruggs fits the bill (and then some). This is a Round 1 match made in heaven.7. Minnesota Vikings (10-4)Previous rank: 8Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU: Reagor profiles as more of a Day 2 luxury pick than a first-round target, but the wideout could still take Minnesota's offense to the next level with his explosiveness after the catch. General manager Rick Spielman has yet to find a reliable third receiver to play behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.8. New England Patriots (11-3)Previous rank: 7Hunter Bryant, TE, Washington: The 2020 tight end class isn't deep, but Bryant's the cream of the crop. New England struggled to replace Rob Gronkowski this season, and its offense sputtered as a result. Bryant would give Tom Brady an athletic option at the position.9. Buffalo Bills (10-4)Previous rank: 9Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado: Buffalo should continue to give Josh Allen more weapons, and Shenault is the perfect talent to pair with deep threat John Brown and slot wizard Cole Beasley. The Colorado product boasts a well-rounded skill set and playmaking ability.10. Houston Texans (9-5)Brian Bahr / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious rank: 10Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State: Houston doesn't own a first-round pick in 2020, but Hubbard appears to be an intriguing Day 2 match. The NCAA's leading rusher would be a perfect complement to Duke Johnson and make the Texans' offense more dynamic. Meanwhile, fellow rushers Lamar Miller and Carlos Hyde are set to hit free agency.11. Tennessee Titans (8-6)Previous rank: 11A.J. Epenesa, Edge, Iowa: Mike Vrabel should be targeting a long-term pass-rusher to play alongside Harold Landry. Epenesa possesses the size, length, and college production that Vrabel desires in defensive prospects.12. Dallas Cowboys (7-7)Previous rank: 16Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU: Byron Jones is heading for free agency and Dallas may not be able to afford him. Translation: The Cowboys need a cornerback. Luckily for Jerry Jones and whoever is coaching the Cowboys in 2020, Fulton is an excellent target in the middle of the first round after a stellar career at LSU. He would have been in the Day 1 conversation last year, too.13. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6)Previous rank: 13Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge, Penn State: Bud Dupree has likely played his way into a big-money contract in free agency, and Pittsburgh should add his replacement via the draft if he signs elsewhere. Gross-Matos is a talented run defender and pass-rusher who would provide incredible value for a Steelers team without a first-round selection.14. Los Angeles Rams (8-6)Previous rank: 12Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin: Sean McVay's offense took a step back in 2019 thanks in large part to poor offensive-line play. Biadasz is one of the top center prospects in his class and would immediately upgrade the Rams' blocking unit as a rookie starter. He's an ideal target in Round 2.15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7)Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious rank: 17Jacob Eason, QB, Washington: Why not replace Jameis with a younger, more athletic Jameis? Jokes aside, Eason is exactly what Bruce Arians looks for at quarterback - he possesses a strong arm, ideal size, and poise under pressure. The former five-star recruit may not step in and start immediately, but he'd make for an intriguing Day 2 target as the Bucs attempt to secure a franchise passer.16. Chicago Bears (7-7)Previous rank: 14Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue: While many will scream for a quarterback in April, Chicago is tied to Mitchell Trubisky for at least one more year. For a team without a first-round pick in April, Hopkins would present a new weapon for Matt Nagy to utilize. The athletic tight end will get plenty of looks on Day 2.17. Philadelphia Eagles (7-7)Previous rank: 20CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma: At this point, "desperate" doesn't properly describe how much Philly needs to add a top-tier receiver in 2020. Luckily for Doug Pederson and Co., Lamb may end up being the best of a star-studded class. The Biletnikoff Award finalist is a unique prospect who offers an incredible combination of body control, hands, and game-breaking ability.18. Atlanta Falcons (5-9)Previous rank: 24Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson: After ranking as one of the league's top rushing teams not long ago, Atlanta sits 30th in that category this season. Etienne's elite speed and explosiveness would add a much-needed dimension to the Falcons' offense. Devonta Freeman is averaging just 3.6 yards per carry in 2019.19. Indianapolis Colts (6-8)Previous rank: 19Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama: Jacoby Brissett simply isn't going to cut it as Andrew Luck's long-term replacement. Indianapolis could realistically find itself picking somewhere between No. 11 and No. 14 - a range where Tua could slide to based on his hip injury. GM Chris Ballard should also explore a trade up if Tagovailoa remains a projected top-ten pick. It's now or never.20. Cleveland Browns (6-8)Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious rank: 15Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama: The Greg Robinson experiment lasted far too long in Cleveland. Instead of taking another crack at acquiring Trent Williams, John Dorsey should eye a long-term answer at the position. Willis is a stud pass-blocker and a road-grader in the run game. Baker Mayfield would surely be thankful for him.21. Oakland Raiders (6-8)Previous rank: 18Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson: Despite repeated attempts to uncover a starting-caliber linebacker this year, Jon Gruden failed to do so. Look no further, Jon. Simmons is a versatile defensive weapon, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and played for powerhouse Clemson. This pick practically writes itself.22. Denver Broncos (5-9)Previous rank: 21Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas: Whether or not John Elway selects a quarterback in Round 1, Duvernay will be an ideal target at some point during Day 2. While Courtland Sutton feasts on the perimeter, the Texas product thrives in the slot - a position Denver got little production from this year.23. Los Angeles Chargers (5-9)Previous rank: 22Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin: Let's swap one Wisconsin running back for another, shall we? With Melvin Gordon surely set to move on in free agency, Taylor profiles as a high-upside replacement. The two-time Doak Walker Award winner is a workhorse back who would pair well with the speedy Austin Ekeler.24. Arizona Cardinals (4-9-1)Previous rank: 27Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn: Ranking 25th in run defense and struggling to create pressure on the interior, Arizona is determined to add talent along its defensive line. Enter Brown, whom the Cardinals will surely consider drafting early in Round 1. The SEC Defensive Player of the Year would be the perfect inside complement to Chandler Jones.25. Carolina Panthers (5-9)Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious rank: 23Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama: A fascinating top-50 prospect, McKinney would fill arguably the weakest spot on Carolina's roster. The talented safety is an ideal second-round target for any future coaching staff while the front office sorts out the quarterback conundrum.26. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-9)Previous rank: 26Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State: Okudah is the latest cornerback prospect to receive top-10 projections and Jacksonville will certainly be picking in that range. The Buckeyes standout is as close to a Jalen Ramsey replacement as the Jaguars are going to find. Yes, Okudah is that good.27. New York Jets (5-9)Previous rank: 25Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama: We aren't certain whether Adam Gase will be retained in 2020, but we know the Jets must add receiving weapons for Sam Darnold this offseason. Jeudy reminds many evaluators of former Alabama receivers Amari Cooper and Calvin Ridley. That would be a good place to start.28. New York Giants (3-11)Previous rank: 31Chase Young, Edge, Ohio State: The Giants already have their quarterback, and they should be in a position to select a generational defensive prospect this time around. Young is the premier player in this year's class and New York would be foolish not to select him if it secures the No. 2 overall pick.29. Detroit Lions (3-10-1)Previous rank: 30Grant Delpit, S, LSU: A Bill Belichick disciple, Matt Patricia loves defensive chess pieces who impact the game in various ways. Delpit is exactly that, as his extremely well-rounded skill set combines awareness, athleticism, and ball skills. He's the game-changer Detroit's 31st-ranked defense desperately needs.30. Miami Dolphins (3-11)Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious rank: 28Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon: Miami has shockingly won its way out of the No. 1 overall pick and the right to select Joe Burrow. Fear not, Fins, as the team can still secure its first franchise quarterback since ... Dan Marino? With Tagovailoa's status up in the air, the Dolphins may opt for the safer option in Herbert. The senior passer is talented in his own right and will be highly coveted on draft day.31. Washington Redskins (3-11)Previous rank: 29Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia: Trent Williams will likely never play another snap for Washington, but the team is in a great spot to draft his replacement. Thomas is an elite pass-protector and a likely top-five selection. It doesn't get any easier.32. Cincinnati Bengals (1-13)Previous rank: 32Joe Burrow, QB, LSU: You're in luck, Bengals fans! The 2019 campaign is nearly over and your team is in position to earn next year's first overall pick. Much like the franchise was with Carson Palmer in 2003, Cincinnati is set up to draft its franchise quarterback in Burrow. The sorrow may not last much longer.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Report: Bengals prepared to use franchise tag on Green
The Cincinnati Bengals plan to use the franchise tag on wide receiver A.J. Green unless they strike a deal with the pending free agent, a source told Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer.Green has missed the entire season with an ankle injury and told team writer Geoff Hobson on Tuesday that he doesn't expect to return for either of the final two games of the campaign. While Green has expressed a desire to remain in Cincinnati, he and the Bengals are far apart in negotiations, Dragon added. The 31-year-old has been with the Bengals since they drafted him fourth overall in 2011. The seven-time Pro Bowler has struggled to stay healthy in recent years but has been productive when on the field. In the first eight seasons of his career, Green posted six 1,000-yard campaigns. He missed six-plus games in the two years he fell shy of the benchmark.Green is in the final season of a four-year, $60-million contract.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Lions place Stafford on IR
The Detroit Lions have placed quarterback Matthew Stafford on injured reserve, ending any chance of a return before the end of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.Stafford hasn't played since Nov. 3 because of tiny fractures in his back. Baltimore Ravens (at Cleveland Browns)If the Ravens want to beat the Browns on Sunday to lock up the top seed in the AFC with a game to spare, they will. It's that simple.2. San Francisco 49ers (vs. Los Angeles Rams)Top seed in the NFC is there for the 49ers if they win out, while the Rams are basically looking ahead to next season after losing last week. Only one team will get up for this game, and it's not Los Angeles.3. Denver Broncos (vs. Detroit Lions)If David Blough completed just 55% of his passes with two interceptions at home to Tampa Bay, I'm terrified to imagine how he'll manage on the road, outdoors, in the cold, against a superior Broncos defense. The Lions are a mess and need to be faded wherever possible.4. Kansas City Chiefs (at Chicago Bears)The Bears were officially eliminated from playoff contention last week, which is especially deflating given the high expectations for Chicago coming into the year. Now they face a Chiefs team that's trying to get a first-round bye. Kansas City, please, and it's not even close.5. Seattle Seahawks (vs. Arizona Cardinals)It's the Seahawks at home in December, gunning for the top seed in the NFC. This should be straightforward. However, the Cardinals have won four of their last six trips to Seattle, all of them as underdogs, getting at least eight points in three of those wins. Oh, and three of them came in December, with two in Week 16. That's straight-up creepy. Maybe the Seahawks aren't as safe as they appear?6. New England Patriots (vs. Buffalo Bills)This is a really tough spot for the Bills coming off the high of clinching a playoff berth with a victory in Pittsburgh last week. It's also back-to-back road games for Josh Allen against two of the best defenses in the NFL. Look for the Patriots' defense to get the best of Buffalo's offense as New England clinches an 11th consecutive AFC East title.7. Minnesota Vikings (vs. Green Bay Packers)Even without Dalvin Cook, the Vikings are the better team. The Packers have lost three straight in Minnesota and if they lose here, they'll still win the division by beating the Lions next week. This line is indicative of what should happen on Monday night at U.S. Bank Stadium.8. Houston Texans (at Tampa Bay Buccaneers)The Texans might be a public play this week, but it's for a good reason. Jameis Winston isn't the type of quarterback who can overcome the loss of two star wide receivers to beat a good team. Without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, and with no running game to speak of, this feels like an ugly Winston performance.9. Pittsburgh Steelers (at New York Jets)Devlin Hodges is 3-0 on the road, while the Steelers' defensive front should wreak havoc on the Jets' miserable pass blocking. When Sam Darnold isn't kept clean, the Jets' offense tends to capitulate. That should be the case here.10. Atlanta Falcons (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars)There's nothing safe about picking between a pair of teams counting down to the offseason. Both showed good compete in wins on the road last week. If they both come to play, the Falcons should have enough to win - but that's a big "if."11. Indianapolis Colts (vs. Carolina Panthers)This is probably a little lower on the board than it should be. I expect Frank Reich to get a good response from the Colts after Monday's disastrous effort in New Orleans, but I'm a bit uneasy about Will Grier making his first start for the Panthers. It's hard to be certain about what to expect from the rookie quarterback, and it's possible his first start gives a boost to a Carolina team that has been a disaster of late.12. Washington Redskins (vs. New York Giants)I'm impressed by the progress Dwayne Haskins has made this season. Suggs claimed by Chiefs, plans to report
The Kansas City Chiefs claimed veteran pass-rusher Terrell Suggs off waivers, the team announced Tuesday. While reports had suggested Suggs would consider holding out if claimed by any franchise other than the Baltimore Ravens, the seven-time Pro Bowler will report to the Chiefs in hopes of earning another Super Bowl ring, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.To make room for Suggs, Kansas City placed defensive end Alex Okafor on injured reserve, ESPN's Field Yates reports.Four teams placed waiver claims on Suggs, including the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Chiefs own the worst record among the group and therefore won the claim.Suggs was released by the Cardinals on Dec. 13, hours before the club's Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The 37-year-old has played in 13 games this season, amassing 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. The Chiefs will be Suggs' third team in his 17-year career.Suggs was selected in the first round of the 2003 draft by the Ravens. The 2011 Defensive Player of the Year spent 16 years in Baltimore, winning one Super Bowl. The 10-4 Chiefs have already clinched the AFC West. Their defensive unit has posted 39 sacks this season, which ranks 11th in the NFL.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Cowboys' Prescott still dealing with unspecified finger injury
Dak Prescott's right index finger still doesn't have a confirmed diagnosis. After Fox NFL analyst Troy Aikman said Sunday that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback had a "hairline fracture on the top of his index finger," sources told ESPN's Todd Archer that the signal-caller doesn't have a fracture on his finger. On Monday, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett didn't confirm whether or not Prescott broke his finger."I don't want to get into the medical part of it," Garrett said, according to Archer. "I do know he has a little injury to his index finger. Again, he works through it and does what he needs to do."The 26-year-old pivot suffered the injury against the Chicago Bears on Dec. 5 after hitting his index finger on a helmet after a pass attempt. He didn't miss any practices following the ailment and tossed 15 completions for 212 yards with two touchdowns in Dallas' 44-21 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday."Dak's a physically tough guy. Dak's a mentally tough guy, so whatever he's dealing with, (he) hasn't let a lot of people know about it," Garrett added. "He goes out and does his job, and he was able to do that again (Sunday)."The 7-7 Cowboys snapped their three-game losing streak with the win over the Rams in Week 15. Dallas can clinch the NFC East title for the second straight season with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Rams' Goff dealing with thumb injury on throwing hand
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff suffered a thumb bruise on his throwing hand against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15, head coach Sean McVay said Monday, according to ESPN's Lindsey Thiry. However, McVay added that Goff's thumb had already gotten better."He was feeling good. Came in, checked out today," the coach said. "That's a positive for him."Goff injured his thumb in the second quarter of the matchup with Dallas. The 25-year-old played through the ailment and finished with 284 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in Los Angeles' 44-21 defeat. While there's no indication the Rams won't have Goff for their crucial divisional clash against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16, a couple of other starters could miss the contest.Cornerback Troy Hill injured his right thumb in the first quarter against Dallas and underwent surgery Monday, while kicker Greg Zuerlein suffered a "low strain quad." McVay said he feels good about Zuerlein playing in Week 16.At 8-6, L.A. is still hoping to make the playoffs by earning a wild-card spot. The Rams are two games behind the Minnesota Vikings with two weeks remaining, so they must win out and the Vikings must lose back-to-back contests.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon is suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL's policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse, the team announced Monday. This is the fifth time the NFL has suspended the 28-year-old for substance abuse.Gordon was first disciplined in 2013 when he missed two games of his breakout year with the Cleveland Browns. The wideout played in only five contests during the following season due to another ban.His longest suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy came in 2015 when he was sidelined for a year. The pass-catcher stepped away from football during the Browns' 2016 campaign to seek rehabilitation.Gordon made his return in Week 13 of the 2017 season. He was traded the following year to the New England Patriots, for whom he played 11 games that campaign before facing another indefinite suspension on Dec. 20, 2018.The Patriots waived Gordon from injured reserve this October, after which the Seahawks added the veteran playmaker.Gordon amassed seven catches for 139 yards through five games with Seattle.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFLPA warns players against Jaguars after winning CBA grievance
The National Football League Players Association said Monday it won an arbitration grievance against the Jacksonville Jaguars over a violation of Collective Bargaining Agreement rules and also warned players about signing with the club. The grievance stated that Jacksonville had required its players to receive all offseason medical treatments at team facilities, which is against CBA regulations. When players failed to attend rehab sessions, they were disciplined by the club.In one of the "many" grievances filed against the Jaguars, the NFLPA said an unnamed Jacksonville player was fined 25 times - for a total exceeding $700,000 - during the 2018 offseason due to missing "mandatory" appointments. However, the arbitrator found that no team can require players to receive medical treatment at a team facility during voluntary portions of the offseason program."The decision puts a stop to the blatant overreach by the Jaguars and emphasizes the voluntary nature of almost all football activities during the offseason," the NFLPA said in a statement. "It should be noted that Jaguars players continue to be at odds with Jaguars management over their rights under the CBA far more than players on other clubs."In the last two years, more than 25% of the grievances filed by players in the entire league have been filed against the Jaguars. You as players may want to consider this when you have a chance to select your next club."Jacksonville has yet to comment on the ruling.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Report: Landry, other Browns asked Cardinals to 'come get' them
Multiple Cleveland Browns players yelled "come get me" toward the Arizona Cardinals' sideline before the end of the teams' Week 15 matchup, Michael Silver of NFL.com reports.Star wide receiver Jarvis Landry was reportedly among those who asked to switch allegiances.Landry, who hauled in five of his eight targets for 23 yards Sunday, was also spotted voicing his disappointment to head coach Freddie Kitchens in the fourth quarter of the 38-24 loss, which dropped the Browns' record to 6-8."I just went and asked for the ball to try to get involved in the game to help," Landry said postgame, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. That's pretty much it."Kitchens touched on the exchange Monday, insisting he appreciates Jarvis for his winning mentality."I wouldn't change Jarvis for anything," Kitchens said, according to Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram. "Jarvis plays the game with passion, which I love. He's tough, he's physical, he wants to win. When you want to win as badly as Jarvis does, sometimes emotions get the best of you."The news comes a week after a report surfaced stating receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has told opposing players and coaches throughout the season that he wants out of Cleveland. Report: Panthers expected to start Grier at QB vs. Colts
The Carolina Panthers are expected to start rookie quarterback Will Grier versus the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Kyle Allen had started each of the Panthers' last 12 games since Cam Newton aggravated his foot injury. Allen won his first four outings but has registered just one victory in his last eight games.Carolina has yet to make the switch official, but the team will likely prioritize evaluating its young passer during the team's final two games. MNF player props: Best bets for Colts-Saints
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. The New Orleans Saints host the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football to close out Week 15. Here are the best player props to consider for the prime-time clash.Michael Thomas over 8.5 catches and 105.5 receiving yardsI really don't want to overthink this one. Thomas has a great matchup against a Colts pass defense that's trending the wrong way. Indianapolis was once inside the top 10 in both pass defense DVOA and explosive pass rate allowed but is now No. 14 and 19 in those respective categories. Thomas should see plenty of Pierre Desir, who grades out as the No. 106 cornerback in the league, according to PFF. The Saints receiver has been on a tear at home of late, catching double-digit passes and surpassing the century mark in receiving yards in each of the last four games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.Zach Pascal under 4.5 receptionsPascal's taken on a larger role with starting wide receiver T.Y. Hilton banged up. He's delivered at times, but the only problem is he's played several weak opposing defenses of late. The Colts' last five opponents - Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Houston, Jacksonville, and Miami - all rank in the bottom half of the league in pass defense DVOA. New Orleans has had issues covering WR1s this season, but Pascal is a far cry from Mike Evans, Michael Thomas, and D.J. Moore, who the Saints see twice a year. Marshon Lattimore is currently the No. 15 corner, per PFF, and should be able to keep Pascal quiet for most of the evening.Alvin Kamara over 5.5 receptionsAlthough he hasn't recorded more than 75 yards on the ground since Week 1, Kamara is still making his presence felt in the passing game. He's hauled in at least four receptions in each of New Orleans' last seven contests and has seen at least six targets in each one. The Colts have no answer for opposing rushers in the passing game. Indianapolis has allowed a catch on 53 of its opponents' last 56 targets to running backs. If Kamara continues to see a high volume of targets Monday, he should go over this total with ease.Alex Kolodziej is a betting writer for theScore. Gruden laments Raiders' season after final home game in Oakland
It wasn't the final chapter Jon Gruden wanted the Raiders to write.Gruden's club squandered a 13-point halftime lead Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars in its final home game in Oakland. The team will relocate to Las Vegas next year. The Raiders were up 16-3, but 17 unanswered points from the Jags - including the go-ahead touchdown with 31 seconds remaining - gave the hometown crown one final heartbreaking defeat. After the game, Gruden lamented one more stunning loss at the Coliseum and thanked fans for their support."I'd like to say we could have sent the Raiders fans off with a lot better finish than that," Gruden said, according to Josh Schrock of NBC Sports. "I think, most importantly, before we talk about the game, I'd like to thank the fans. I'd like to thank the city of Oakland for supporting the Raiders and being faithful in all kinds of seasons. I'll miss them. I love them and I'm sorry about the outcome today, but I think that's something that needs to be said. An exclamation point."I really apologize that we weren't able to deliver a victory."The 6-8 Raiders finished the home portion of their season 5-3.Despite carrying playoff aspirations, Oakland's likely out of the postseason hunt, as the club needs to win its final two contests and get help from multiple teams.Oakland has made the playoffs only once since 2003, but despite the struggles, Gruden said the relationship between the city and its football team is forever."It's not really the result today, it's the results of the Raiders over the years," Gruden added. "It's the Raiders, it's the appreciation, the loyalty that these fans I think have had for the Raiders. We're going to miss them. Rivers unsure if he'll return to Chargers next year
Philip Rivers has played all 16 of his NFL campaigns with the Los Angeles Chargers franchise, but he's now facing an uncertain future for the first time.Rivers, 38, will hit free agency after this season, meaning his time with the team could be coming to an end."I mean, they could be (my last games with the Chargers)," Rivers said of the next two weeks, according to Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. "I don't necessarily expect that it is or I don't necessarily think it's a crazy thought that it will be. I think you just don't know."Los Angeles has already been eliminated from playoff contention this year and dropped to 5-9 with a 39-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15.For his part, Rivers hasn't been at his best this year. There have been rumors that the Chargers could begin a rebuild and move on from the veteran, although both sides remain interested in sticking together through 2020, Miller noted."It's not solely going to be my decision," the pivot said. "That's where I think that uncertainty lies. We will just kind of have to see. ... I think with that uncertainty it does add some emotion (to the upcoming games)."Rivers tossed three interceptions in Sunday's defeat to Minnesota, but head coach Anthony Lynn refused to blame his pivot."I didn't think the quarterback was the reason why we were turning the football over," Lynn said. "The seven turnovers (as a team), that wasn't on him."The Bolts have failed to qualify for the postseason in five of their last six seasons.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is likely to miss his team's Week 16 tilt versus the Houston Texans with the hamstring injury he suffered Sunday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.Godwin's injury is similar to that of teammate Mike Evans, according to Rapoport, who added that he could also miss Tampa Bay's meaningless season finale. Evans is reportedly ruled out for Week 17 already. The 23-year-old Godwin hurt his hamstring late in the third quarter of the Bucs' Week 15 win over the Detroit Lions. He was leading the team with five catches for 121 yards before being carted to the locker room. It's been a breakout campaign for the third-year wideout. Sunday Rundown recaps the most important developments from the day's action and examines the significance of those events moving forward.Oakland will be missedBlowing a comfortable second-half lead and losing to the Jaguars in spectacularly embarrassing fashion certainly wasn't the way the Raiders wanted to go out in their Oakland finale. Sunday's disappointment aside, it's worth acknowledging just how different the league and the Raiders organization will be without the East Bay.At a time when several other NFL teams are struggling with attendance - or at least maintaining a distinct home-field advantage - endlessly passionate fans continued to pack that stadium, to watch that team, for all these years.Next season's move to Las Vegas, and the brand new stadium that comes with it, marks an exciting time for a team that's played in what's probably the worst facility in professional sports for so long. However, there was always something special about football games at the Coliseum, even if the place was flawed. It was all about the fans and the environment they created. The Raiders will attempt to replicate that raucous atmosphere in Las Vegas, and perhaps they'll experience some level of success. Nevada has taken to the NHL's Golden Knights in a way few could have expected. The proximity to California should help too, and there are few fan bases that travel as well as Raider Nation. But in such a prime tourist destination, where fans of opposing teams will turn out in droves for a weekend of football, the Raiders can probably say goodbye to the days when a sea of only Silver and Black gives them an extra push at home.Oakland may miss the Raiders. But Eli Manning getting to make one last start at home for the Giants was just perfect.Manning's career will forever incite great debate. His pair of magical playoff runs put him in the exclusive club of 12 quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl titles, without question securing his place in Canton. But his overall numbers aren't exactly befitting of a Hall of Famer. However you feel about his legacy, Manning deserved this send-off. Giving way to a rookie quarterback early in the season, and spending the rest of what may be his last NFL campaign sitting on the bench, just wouldn't have been right for a consummate professional who's done so much for his franchise.Manning deserved to hear the home crowd cheering his name one last time, and he deserved to go out with an exciting win. Giants fans can only hope Jones puts together half the career Manning did in East Rutherford. It was a pretty solid run for Peyton's little brother. No closer to solving Jameis riddleHow is it possible we're 15 games into Jameis Winston's fifth pro season and it remains unclear if he's a viable franchise quarterback?Winston began Sunday's game against the Lions with an interception on the opening drive, his NFL-leading 24th of the season and the fifth time this year he's thrown a pick on the Bucs' first possession. The 2015 first overall pick overcame the error, going on to throw for 308 yards and three touchdowns before halftime. Winston finished the blowout win with 458 yards and four touchdowns despite losing his top two starting receivers to hamstring injuries in consecutive weeks. That's who Winston has become. Half the time he's maddeningly erratic, and the other half he's wildly productive. It's the Favre-esque gunslinger experience, but with both sides of the dial maxed out.As Winston wraps up the third so-called "make or break" season of his young career, the Buccaneers must again decide whether to offer their passing enigma a long-term deal, ask the pivot to prove himself yet again under the franchise tag, or finally let him walk.It might be the most difficult decision any team faces this winter. No Eagles magic on the wayCorey Perrine / Getty Images Sport / GettyWinners of two straight with their backs against the wall, the Eagles are hanging around and keeping their playoff hopes alive. And with a victory over the Cowboys at home next week and a Week 17 win against the Giants, Philadelphia can back into the playoffs as the NFC East champs. And once a team gets in, you never know, right? No. With these Eagles, you do know. And it's not going to end well.Philly has saved its season in consecutive weeks with tightly contested wins over the Giants and Redskins, and bad offenses continued to torch the Eagles' secondary.Even if the Eagles can knock off the Cowboys and then wrap up the division the following week, there are far too many potent passing attacks waiting in the playoffs that would pick their defense apart. And Philadelphia's offense isn't doing enough to keep up in a shootout. It's nice to get behind the idea of a team sneaking into the postseason and going on an unlikely run. The Eagles have been that team before, but there are just too many factors against them this time.Gilmore and White lock up All-Pro selectionsThe 2019 All-Pro teams won't be announced for another few weeks, so there's time for players at several spots to separate themselves from the competition. However, cornerback likely isn't one of the positions still up for debate.Without question, the cornerbacks on this year's roster should be Stephon Gilmore and Tre'Davious White.Gilmore and White have been phenomenal throughout the season, with the former further solidifying his status as a true shutdown cover man, and the latter taking steps toward a similar standing. Sunday featured some of their best work yet, with each corner tallying two interceptions to help their respective teams secure playoff berths.Fielding even one elite defensive back can transform a secondary, and it's no coincidence that the Patriots and Bills are among the NFL's leaders in pass defense.Lions need more than another tuneupRey Del Rio / Getty Images Sport / GettyWhat's the case for Lions general manager Bob Quinn to keep his job this offseason? The Lions are no better now than when the former Patriots director of scouting joined Detroit four seasons ago. Their roster lacks talent at all positions, and the talent that's there consistently underachieves. And, if the GM goes, what's the case for keeping head coach Matt Patricia, the former Patriots coordinator who Quinn hand-picked for the job? The pair are attached at the hip and responsible for the mess this Lions team has become. The excuse we'll probably hear is that injuries derailed Detroit's season, and that's true to an extent. Losing Matthew Stafford was enormous, as was Kerryon Johnson going down. But this team was headed in the wrong direction well before players like T.J. Hockenson and Marvin Jones joined their offensive teammates on the shelf.Even if we grant that the Lions' offensive struggles can be excused, the defensive failures aren't easy to toss aside. That area was supposed to be Patricia's specialty, and the $90 million handed to Trey Flowers in free agency should have provided a major boost. Now, instead of bolstering the defense, Quinn and Patricia have weakened it by shipping Quandre Diggs out of town and failing to find impact players in the draft. The Lions will pick early in next spring's draft, and someone new should make that selection.Kyle Allen experiment is overRemember when there was a debate about who the Panthers should play at quarterback when Cam Newton gets healthy? That was ridiculous enough at the time, and it seems downright hilarious now.Kyle Allen enjoyed a surprisingly productive early run while stepping in for an injured Newton. But he's since come crashing down worse than feared, even among those who weren't buying the hype. With 15 interceptions in his last eight games - including three during Sunday's maddening loss to the Seahawks - there's no longer a way to justify him becoming Carolina's long-term starter.Barring an offseason trade with a team willing to overpay, Newton should return as the Panthers' unquestioned starter in 2020. While he's struggled at times over the last few seasons, much of that can be attributed to injury. When healthy, Carolina should be confident that his MVP-caliber talent is still there. A Newton-Christian McCaffrey backfield is still something no opponent wants to see.Now that the team knows what it has in Allen, the Panthers should be turning to Will Grier for the final two games of their season. Getting the third-round rookie some all-important game reps can only help the club's future, and that needs to be the focus in what's turned out to be another lost season.Video evidence doesn't look good for PatriotsScott Taetsch / Getty Images Sport / GettyIt's impossible to view the video of a Bengals security team member confronting a Patriots staffer he found videotaping Cincinnati's sideline last week and not conclude New England is guilty of something.Caught red-handed filming the Bengals' sideline, the videographer almost immediately offers to delete all the footage, practically begging the security guard to forget he saw anything.
49ers, Seahawks, Packers clinch playoff spot after Rams' Week 15 loss
The Dallas Cowboys' win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15 helped more than just the NFC East club's playoff chances. The San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers all clinched a playoff spot after the Rams' defeat Sunday.Despite losing at home following the Atlanta Falcons' late comeback, San Francisco is returning to the postseason for the first time since 2013. The 49ers currently hold an 11-3 record.Seattle, which beat the Carolina Panthers in Week 15 while improving to 11-3 this season, secured a playoff spot for the second consecutive year. The Seahawks have now made the postseason in seven of the past eight campaigns. After Week 15, the Seahawks retook the NFC West lead because of their head-to-head matchup advantage over the 49ers. The division rivals will face off again in the final week of the regular season.Green Bay jumped to 11-3 this season with its third straight victory, this time beating the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Packers are returning to the playoffs following two years away from the postseason.Seven teams have now officially clinched playoff spots in 2019.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Cowboys receive 2nd-half kickoff after NFL fixes coin-toss miscue
The Dallas Cowboys received the second-half kickoff on Sunday versus the Los Angeles Rams after they were set to start both halves on defense following some initial confusion.Upon winning the opening coin toss, Cowboys quarterback and captain Dak Prescott first told officials that his team wanted to "kick" to start the game. He later used the word "defer."Under NFL rules, electing to "kick" means a team exercises its right to choose in the first half, rather than deferring its decision to the second half.Video of the exchange shows Prescott declaring Dallas wants to kick before clarifying he meant defer, but the correction evidently either wasn't heard or wasn't accepted by referee Walt Anderson. Therefore, the Rams were given their choice to start the second half. They, of course, opted to receive, and were thus set to take possession at the start of both halves.
Vikings' Cook ruled out vs. Chargers with shoulder injury
Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was ruled out Sunday after suffering a shoulder injury early in the third quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers.Cook injured the same shoulder in Week 13, though he returned the following week.Cook was helped to the sideline versus the Chargers before being examined in the medical tent. The Vikings declared him unavailable for the rest of the afternoon shortly thereafter. The Florida State product entered Week 15 ranked fourth in rushing with 1,018 yards, and he's scored 13 touchdowns. The Vikings replaced Cook with Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah, as top backup Alexander Matison is inactive.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Bucs' Arians on Barrett's pending free agency: 'He ain't going anywhere'
Linebacker Shaq Barrett is a standout name among the NFL's potential free agents next offseason. But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't want to lose their breakout defender. After the Bucs' Week 15 matchup against the Detroit Lions, head coach Bruce Arians told reporters that the 27-year-old would stay in Tampa Bay."He ain't going anywhere," Arians said Sunday, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.Barrett expressed confidence that he would remain a member of the Bucs."I think I will be here for sure. ... I like it here. They like me here," he said, per Auman.Barrett signed a one-year, $4-million contract with Tampa Bay in March. He previously spent five campaigns with the Broncos after being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014.The pass rusher entered Week 15 leading the NFL in sacks (15.5). He added another sack, along with five tackles and two quarterback hits, in the Buccaneers' 38-17 victory over the Lions on Sunday.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Seahawks' Carroll says Wagner sprained ankle vs. Panthers
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said linebacker Bobby Wagner suffered a sprained ankle against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, according to Seahawks reporter John Boyle. The star defender left his club's Week 15 tilt with seven minutes remaining and didn't return.Carroll added that Wagner wasn't cleared to return and that he doesn't know the severity of the injury yet, per ESPN's Jessamyn McIntyre. The Seahawks' leading tackler this season said he was fine in his postgame press conference, according to Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. The 29-year-old Wagner posted 10 tackles, one interception, and two passes defended in his team's 30-24 victory over Carolina.Fellow safety Quandre Diggs also suffered a sprained ankle against the Panthers. Carroll said Diggs' injury looked more serious than Wagner's, according to Boyle.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Peterson cracks top 5 on all-time rushing list, ties Payton for 4th in TDs
Adrian Peterson surpassed another NFL legend on his climb up the all-time rushing list.By exceeding 65 yards on Sunday, the Washington Redskins running back passed Curtis Martin to sit alone with the fifth-most rushing yards in NFL history.Peterson entered the day with 14,036 career rushing yards. He topped Martin's career mark of 14,101 in the fourth quarter of Sunday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. The 12th-year pro also tied Walter Payton for fourth all time in rushing touchdowns. He scored the 110th rushing score of his career on a 10-yard scamper in the third quarter.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Buccaneers lose Godwin to hamstring injury
Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions due to a hamstring injury.Godwin picked up the injury late in the third quarter with the Buccaneers ahead 24-10. He was leading the team with five catches for 121 yards before being carted to the locker room. It's the second straight week in which Tampa Bay has lost a star wideout to a hamstring injury. Mike Evans exited Week 14's game after scoring a long touchdown and was held out of Sunday's contest against Detroit.Fellow receiver Scott Miller also went down with a hamstring ailment against Detroit, leaving Breshad Perriman, Justin Watson, and Ishmael Hyman as the only healthy wideouts for Tampa Bay.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Patriots suspend videographer who recorded Bengals' sideline
The New England Patriots suspended the videographer who filmed the Cincinnati Bengals' sideline during last week's game against the Cleveland Browns, the Boston Globe's Ben Volin and Katie McInerney report. Some of the footage shot by Dave Mondillo, a longtime employee of Kraft Sports and Entertainment, was obtained and released by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports on Sunday just before the Patriots' game against the Bengals.
Monday Night Football betting preview: Colts at Saints
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. How will the Saints respond after dropping the game of the year as home favorites? It's the question hanging over Monday night's game, in which New Orleans is again laying points at home against a desperate Colts team just one loss away from watching its playoff hopes slip away. The Saints have had Indianapolis' number this decade, winning three straight dating back to their 2009 Super Bowl clash, but all occurred before coach Frank Reich came to Indy. Can he engineer a stunning upset as a sizable road underdog? Here's everything you need to know about the matchup from a betting perspective:(Trends source: Sports Database unless noted otherwise)Line movementThe Saints opened just below two-score favorites at -9.5, and bettors have mostly left that number alone as of early Sunday. It's only the fourth time that New Orleans has given more than a touchdown and the second time that Indianapolis has gotten that many points - the other came in its outright upset of the Chiefs (-10). The total has seen some slight movement from 46 to 46.5.Betting trendsThe Saints entered this week tied for the most wins against the spread (ATS) in the NFL with eight. Sean Payton, meanwhile, is 45-28 ATS (61.6%) in his career after a loss, behind only the Vikings' Mike Zimmer for the best mark among active head coaches with at least one full season. He's also won nine consecutive games after a loss by an average of 10.4 points dating back to 2017, giving 9.5 or more just twice during that span.Teams in a similar spot to New Orleans have performed admirably in their next game. In the last 30 years, teams coming off a loss in which both teams scored more than 40 points are 13-4 ATS (76.5%), with a 5-1 ATS record since 2013. Home favorites of more than a touchdown are also 11-4 ATS (73.3%) in their last 15 following an outright home loss. The Colts are in a somewhat similar spot, having dropped a wild 38-35 final to Tampa Bay a week ago. It's also hard to doubt Frank Reich, who's 7-3-2 ATS (70%) as a road underdog in his career. But he's just 1-1 ATS getting more than a touchdown in that spot. His squad has also struggled lately, going 2-4-1 ATS since Week 8 - one week before T.Y. Hilton's latest injury. The star receiver has missed five of six games since and is questionable for Monday, which could prove fatal for an Indianapolis team that is 1-9 straight up without Hilton since drafting him in 2012.Even with Hilton, the Colts are averaging 22.8 points this year, which might not be enough to outlast the Saints' high-flying offense. New Orleans is 7-0 ATS this year when holding its opponent to 25 points or fewer and 1-5 ATS when allowing more than 25 points. The X-factorThe injuries on offense are piling up for the Colts, who now have five receivers on injured reserve after shelving Parris Campbell this week, and that doesn't even include pass-catching tight end Eric Ebron. Hilton will be a game-time decision, and if he sits, it'll be a heavy dose of Marlon Mack against the Saints' fourth-ranked run defense, per PFF.The Saints have their own fair share of injuries, mostly on defense, though it might not matter much against Indianapolis. New Orleans will be without starting defensive linemen Marcus Davenport and Sheldon Rankins as well as safety Vonn Bell. Indy's talented offensive line was already going to be a mismatch on paper, but its third-rate receivers will be hard-pressed to take advantage of that extra time or any potential weakness over the middle.Saints star back Alvin Kamara hasn't been the same since suffering an injury earlier this year, but he's in a solid get-right spot against the Colts' poorly rated run defense.PickIf Hilton misses this game, it's hard to see the Colts scoring three touchdowns, which is likely what it would take to cover on Monday. It also leaves some solid under value on Indy's team total, which should settle right around 18-20 points.Even if he does play, the Colts' defense has put forth three of its worst efforts in the last three weeks and faces the Saints' mostly healthy offense that just dropped 46 points on the Niners' elite defense. Lay the points if Hilton's out or consider going over on New Orleans' team total as a consolation if the Colts receiver plays.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Report: Kittle, Ertz, Hooper could reset TE market in offseason
The 2020 offseason could belong to the NFL's best tight ends.George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers, Zach Ertz of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Austin Hooper of the Atlanta Falcons could redefine the position's value after this season with huge bumps in their respective salaries, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Kittle and Ertz both have one season remaining on their contracts, with the former set to make just $735,000 in the final year of his rookie deal. Few around the league expect Kittle to play under those terms in 2020, Schefter added.Meanwhile, Hooper is set to become a free agent along with the likes of Indianapolis Colts tight end Eric Ebron and Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry. The Falcons are currently set to have the least amount of cap space for next season, so it could be a challenge to re-sign Hooper, who's been one of the team's few bright spots with a 640-yard, six-touchdown breakout campaign.Kittle racked up 1,377 yards last season, and despite missing two games due to injury in 2019, he ranks fifth in receiving yards among tight ends. Ertz tops the position with 79 catches.Currently, Jimmy Graham's annual average salary of $10 million paces the position around the league, and only three other tight ends (Travis Kelce, Jordan Reed, and Kyle Rudolph) earn at least $9 million.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Janoris Jenkins expected to land with playoff contender
When the New York Giants released Janoris Jenkins on Friday, the cornerback tweeted that it was the "best news ever." The good news keeps coming then, as Jenkins is expected to land with a playoff contender, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The AFC West champion Kansas City Chiefs and AFC South-leading Houston Texans are likely landing spots for the eight-year veteran, sources told Schefter.Jenkins can be claimed off waivers Monday. If he clears as an injured player, he'll revert back to the Giants' injured reserve, but the team is expected to waive him from IR and send the player back on waivers for a second time from Monday to Tuesday, Schefter adds.If claimed, Jenkins would be owed nearly $1.2 million for the remainder of the season. He's also signed for 2020 at $11.25 million.Nevertheless, the 31-year-old is expected to be on a new team by Week 16.The Giants released Jenkins after he refused to apologize for calling a fan a "retard" in a tweet.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Browns want to keep Kitchens as HC long term

Report: Steelers' Conner expected to return vs. Bills
Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is expected to play on Sunday Night Football versus the Buffalo Bills after missing three games with a shoulder injury, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Conner has been sidelined for five of Pittsburgh's last six contests because of his troublesome shoulder. He was limited to five carries in the one game he did play during that stretch. The likely return of Conner comes as pleasant news to a Steelers team that will once again be without top receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury during practice.Conner has 390 yards and four touchdowns on the ground across eight appearances in 2019.The Steelers hold the second AFC wild-card spot entering Week 15, while the Bills sit with the first wild card.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc.
