Brees to miss at least 3 weeks after landing on IR
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will miss a minimum of three weeks after landing on injured reserve Friday.Brees has reportedly been suffering from at least five fractured ribs and a collapsed right lung. The Saints apparently braced for a multi-week absence from Brees, who also missed five games last season with a torn ligament in his thumb.Despite his lack of aggression down the field, Brees has kept the Saints' offense moving in 2020, throwing for 2,196 yards with 18 touchdowns and three interceptions. The Saints plan to give Taysom Hill his first career start at quarterback Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons over Jameis Winston, who relieved Brees in Week 10.New Orleans added a third quarterback to its active roster by signing Trevor Siemian, the signal-caller's agent, Mike McCartney, announced Friday. Siemian was on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad but has not played this season. The Saints lead the NFC South through 10 weeks with a record of 7-2.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Snyder blocking minority owners from $900M sale
The Washington Football Team has received a $900-million offer from a group of investors from California for a 40% stake in the club, according to Will Hobson, Mark Maske, and Liz Clarke of The Washington Post. However, majority owner Daniel Snyder is refusing to accept the deal.Washington's three minority shareholders - FedEx chief executive Fred Smith, real estate magnate Dwight Schar, and investor Robert Rothman - tentatively accepted the offer, per The Washington Post. However, Snyder is blocking the sale by trying to exercise his right of first refusal to buy back the franchise's minority shares before they're sold to other parties.Snyder's refusal to accept the deal is part of a feud with one of the minority owners, notes The Washington Post. The majority owner has offered to acquire the 25% held by Smith and Rothman, but not the 15% held by Schar. The interested buyers are Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, co-founders of private equity firm Clearlake Capital, as well as Feliciano's wife, Kwanza Jones. The minority owners reportedly sued Snyder on Nov. 13 in U.S. District Court in Maryland as an attempt to move the sale forward. The group previously pressured Snyder to sell the franchise following a controversial offseason, which included the team's name change after corporate sponsors threatened to cut ties with the organization.Washington is currently worth $3.5 billion, according to Forbes.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Seahawks' Olsen out 2 months with ruptured plantar fascia
Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen ruptured his plantar fascia Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals and will be sidelined for roughly two months, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said following the win that he didn't know whether Olsen would be able to return this season, and Rapoport confirms it would likely take a deep playoff run in order for the veteran to do so.The 35-year-old went down in obvious pain with the noncontact injury early in the fourth quarter. He was unable to put weight on the foot and had to be helped off the field.Olsen, a three-time Pro Bowler, signed a one-year deal with Seattle in February after spending the last nine campaigns as a member of the Carolina Panthers. He spent his first four with the Chicago Bears. The 14-year pro considered retirement in favor of a broadcasting career before joining the Seahawks. Seahawks get back on track with TNF win over Cardinals
SEATTLE (AP) — Russell Wilson rebounded from his worst performance of the season to throw for two touchdowns, and the Seattle Seahawks moved back on top of the NFC West with a 28-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night.Wilson was flawless, erasing the mistakes from the past four weeks when Seattle dropped three of four, including losses in the past two weeks to Buffalo and the Los Angeles Rams. The skid left Seattle in a tie on top of the NFC West with the Rams and Cardinals. For a few days, Seattle (7-3) will be back on top alone until the Rams play on Monday night against Tampa Bay. It was an important victory for the Seahawks heading into the softest part of their schedule, with four upcoming games against teams with a combined 8-28-1 record.Wilson was 23 of 28 for 197 yards and TD passes of 25 yards to DK Metcalf and 11 yards to Tyler Lockett in the first half. Wilson had committed 10 turnovers in the previous four games combined, a stretch that started with Seattle’s 37-34 overtime loss to Arizona in Week 7.Lockett, who had 15 catches for 200 yards and three TDs in the first meeting with Arizona, had another nine catches for 67 yards. But the biggest boost for Seattle was the return of its run game. Carlos Hyde rushed for 79 yards and a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter, and Seattle finished with 165 yards rushing.Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins couldn’t rekindle the magic from their last-second touchdown to beat Buffalo last Sunday. Murray was 29 of 42 for 269 yards and two TDs, but Seattle was able to get the kind of pressure on the QB that was missing from the first meeting. And that pressure came through in the closing seconds. On fourth-and-10 at the Seattle 27 with 38 seconds left, Carlos Dunlap got around the edge and tackled Murray for his second sack of the night. Seattle finished with three sacks and seven QB hits after not touching Murray in the first meeting.Arizona (6-4) closed to 23-21 with 13:19 left when Murray capped a 15-play, 90-yard drive with a 3-yard TD pass to Chase Edmonds. The Cardinals defense held, but backed up near their goal line, J.R. Sweezy was called for holding on L.J. Collier in the end zone, giving Seattle a safety with 9:12 left.Arizona almost didn’t get the ball back. Seattle ran nearly seven minutes off the clock and Jason Myers’ 41-yard field goal gave the Seahawks a 28-21 lead with 2:19 to go.INJURIESArizona lost starting safety Jalen Thompson in the closing seconds of the first half with a right leg injury. Thompson had to be helped off the field and onto a cart, putting no weight on the leg.Seattle TE Greg Olsen tumbled to the ground early in the fourth quarter with a left foot injury. Olsen went down before contact and was helped off the field without putting weight on the leg. Seattle also lost right tackle Brandon Shell in the fourth quarter.700 CLUBHopkins became the youngest player in league history to reach 700 career receptions with his lone catch in the first half. Hopkins, 28, bettered the previous record held by his teammate, Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was just past his 29th birthday when he reached 700 catches. But Hopkins was limited to five catches for 51 yards. Fitzgerald led Arizona with eight receptions.UP NEXTCardinals: At New England on Sunday, Nov. 29.Seahawks: At Philadelphia on Monday, Nov. 30.___More AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL and https://twitter.com/AP_NFLCopyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Raiders DC: Preparing for Chiefs with COVID-19 absences is 'daunting task'
The Las Vegas Raiders already beat the Kansas City Chiefs this season, but defensive coordinator Paul Guenther is unsure if they’ll be able to sweep their division rival with a COVID-19 outbreak keeping multiple starting defenders from practice this week."I don't know how we can beat these guys with a full lineup at practice, let alone three-fourths of your lineup not here all week," Guenther told reporters Thursday ahead of Sunday's game, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN."What don't they have? We're playing the world champs," he continued. "What don't they have? They have a great quarterback, great receivers, great tight ends, line is physical. And they're coming off a bye, so it's a daunting task."There are currently 10 Raiders defenders on the reserve/COVID-19 list, including linebacker Cory Littleton, defensive end Clelin Ferrell, and defensive backs Johnathan Abram and Lamarcus Joyner.Littleton and Ferrell recently tested positive for the virus, and some of their teammates were placed on the reserve group after being deemed high-risk close contacts. They now all need to register consecutive negative test results for the rest of the week to be eligible to play Sunday night."I know one thing, we're going to show up at 5:20 (PT) and we're going to give 100%, because that's what we do," Guenther added. "We'll get these guys ready to play. Whoever is out there at 5:20, they'll be ready to go."The 6-3 Raiders - the only team to defeat Kansas City this year - will try to extend their three-game winning streak against the 8-1 Chiefs, who have won their last four matchups.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Cam Newton admits to feeling 'stagnant' after testing positive for COVID-19
New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton admitted testing positive for COVID-19 in Week 4 led to a “stagnant” feeling upon his return."Ever since coming back from corona, to be honest with you, I felt stagnant in my thought process," Newton said Thursday, according to NFL.com's Grant Gordon.Newton and the Patriots had a 2-1 record before his positive test. The veteran passer racked up 714 yards through his first three contests, recording two touchdowns and two interceptions. The 31-year-old struggled in his first start after he tested negative for COVID-19 in Week 6. Newton explained falling behind in Josh McDaniel’s evolving offense was a bigger hurdle for him than recovering from the virus."When I did come back, I just felt behind. The production here of late is nothing to blame more or less than me just taking ownership and responsibility that I just have to be better."New England has strung together consecutive wins following a four-game losing streak. Newton has four total touchdowns (one passing, three rushing) in both wins. The Patriots (4-5) will attempt to extend their win streak to three games - and climb to .500 - when they take on the (2-7) Houston Texans.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Leonard hoping to change Rodgers' mind about who NFL's top LB is
Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard is used to being overlooked and doubted.Leonard flew under the radar at South Carolina State, and the Colts were widely panned for selecting him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The linebacker quickly showed his talent, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year and making the All-Pro team. But he still failed to make the Pro Bowl.Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers - who's set to take on Leonard's Colts on Sunday - added more fuel to his incoming opponent's fire by recently calling the San Francisco 49ers' Fred Warner the best linebacker in the NFL."I seen it as soon as he said it," Leonard said Thursday, per ESPN's Mike Wells. "You hear things like that and it gives you extra motivation going to play. (Rodgers has) been in the league for a long time. For him to say that about Fred Warner, they play sometimes twice a year, so my first time, I want to leave a mark. Hopefully change his mind on what he said about that."Leonard has been one of the driving forces of Indy's ascending defense, which is coming off a dominant performance in a win over the Tennessee Titans. The unit ranks fourth in scoring defense (19.7 points per game), second against the pass (198.7 yards per game), and third in run defense (91.8 yards per game). But Leonard knows Rodgers, along with star receiver Davante Adams and running back Aaron Jones, will provide the Colts' toughest test of the season so far."Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback," Leonard said. "That's a bucket list check. Once you're in the league, you want to play against the best, and he's one of the best to do it. I'm pumped for it. It's definitely challenging. They have some great skill guys."Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Dalton: Bout with COVID-19 'hit me hard'
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton opened up about his experience with COVID-19 on Thursday as he prepares to make his return Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings."The COVID, it hit me hard the first day I had it, then it gradually started feeling better," said Dalton, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "By the end of it, I was ready to get out of quarantine and get back up here."Dalton also revealed he hasn't regained his sense of smell or taste. The ex-Cincinnati Bengals standout has endured a tough stretch. Dalton's COVID-19 diagnosis came directly after he suffered the first concussion of his career on a late shot to the head by Washington linebacker Jon Bostic in Week 8.Dalton missed the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9 due to his concussion and then was sidelined for the defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers while on the reserve/COVID-19 list."It was a little frustrating," Dalton said. "You miss the one game because of the concussion, first time dealing with that, and then the COVID. It's like, it all kind of hit at once. I wish I could have been out there. I wish I could have played in the two games that I missed."Despite dropping to 2-7 amid a four-game losing streak, Dallas is still in the running for the NFC East title. The 3-5-1 Eagles lead the division, and Dalton is focused on chasing them down and securing a playoff berth."Everything is out in front of us," Dalton said. "That's the crazy thing with how this season has gone. Some games we feel like we have had chances in. All of that stuff doesn't matter at this point. Now we have to move forward. We have to think about these next seven games, and that is all our focus is - what we have in front of us."Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Lions' Swift misses practice with concussion
Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift missed practice Thursday with a concussion, the injury report revealed. It's unclear when Swift suffered the injury, but he was a full participant in practice Wednesday and spoke to reporters afterward, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.Swift has seemingly taken over the featured role in the Lions' backfield in recent weeks after beginning the year in a less prominent spot. The rookie manufactured 149 yards and a touchdown on a career-high 21 touches in the Lions' Week 10 victory over the Washington Football Team.Detroit would turn to Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson at running back if he's unable to play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Lions selected Swift in the second round of the 2020 draft following his brilliant college career at Georgia.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Washington Football Team may not adopt new name
The Washington Football Team could remain without a name permanently, president Jason Wright said."It's definitely in the running," Wright told ESPN's John Keim. "I don't think anything is off the table … With this one, people are excited about the idea of a club has an identity rooted solely in the area it represents. Maybe it's Football Team or it's Football Club. We need to get underneath the why, so no matter what direction we go, we can pull on the heartstrings of folks."Washington retired the Redskins name before the season amid pressure from many of its marquee sponsors. First Nations groups had long decried the name for its racial connotation.Wright previously suggested a rebrand featuring a new name may not be feasible by 2021 because of logistical challenges involving jerseys, apparel, and merchandise.Whatever the franchise settles on for a name in the future, Washington plans to keep its color scheme intact."It would take a lot to change the burgundy and gold," Wright said. "You can put that one in pen. I don't see us moving off that at any point. That's not actively being considered … I'll revise that if it happens, but I don't see that happening."Washington is the only franchise in the NFL that doesn't have a team name.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Mahomes hoping to avoid Raiders sweep: 'We don't like losing to teams twice'
Patrick Mahomes has an extra motivation ahead of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders: He wants to avoid the first divisional sweep of his career."Any time you lose to anyone, the next time you play them you want to win the football game," the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback said Wednesday, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN. "We'll be ready to go, I promise you that. ... We don't like losing to teams twice, so we'll have the right mindset."Mahomes has lost to an opponent multiple times in the same season just once, against the New England Patriots in 2018. The Patriots won the teams' regular-season matchup before eliminating Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game. The Raiders handed the Chiefs a 40-32 loss in Week 5, Kansas City's only defeat this season. Mahomes threw his only interception of the year during that contest while completing a single-game career-low 51.2% of his pass attempts."If you're not ready to go in this game, playing a divisional opponent, playing against a good football team, and you know it's going to mean a lot going toward the AFC West standings, then you're not in the right sport," Mahomes added.Mahomes has completed 66.9% of his passes this season while throwing for 2,687 yards and 25 touchdowns. All NFL teams ordered into intensive protocols starting Saturday
The NFL sent a memo Wednesday stating that all 32 teams must go into intensive protocols for the remainder of the season beginning Saturday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Under intensive protocols, all meetings will be held virtually or in large spaces, while masks and/or mouth shields are mandatory during on-field practices."As we continue through the season, it will likely be necessary to take further steps to address broader conditions," commissioner Roger Goodell said in the memo, per Pelissero.Previously, intensive protocols were only designated for organizations that had a positive COVID-19 test or recently played against a team with one. The league noted that 28 clubs have used intensive protocols at least once during the campaign, with 16 having done so multiple times. The NFL's reasons for imposing harsher rules include the rise of coronavirus cases in communities around the United States and a review of contact tracing data that determined teams in intensive protocols yield a 50% reduction in the number of close contacts. The league's ultimate goal is to reduce the number of close contacts and further mitigate the risks of spreading COVID-19.Last week, NFL owners unanimously approved a proposal to add one playoff team to each conference if meaningful regular-season games are canceled due to the virus.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Cardinals-Seahawks betting trends and player props
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. The NFC West hangs in the balance, as the reeling Seahawks (-3, 57.5) play host to the red-hot Cardinals with the winner seizing first place in the division. Here are our favorite trends, props, and bets for Thursday night.Betting trendsAs is the case any time Russell Wilson plays in prime time, it's worth revisiting his stellar 21-11-3 record against the spread in late-night games and 14-5-2 ATS record as a favorite in that spot. He's also a sparkling 8-0-1 ATS on Thursday nights, though he can thank a defense allowing an average of 14.3 points across those nine contests.Despite his career success in prime time, Wilson is just 1-5 ATS in his last five in that spot, including a Week 7 loss to Arizona as a 3.5-point favorite. That was the Cardinals' third straight win ATS in prime time and 13th ATS win in their last 18 tries as an underdog dating back to a 2018 cover against the Seahawks. In fact, Seattle has long had issues with its division foe, carrying a 1-6-1 ATS record in its last eight against Arizona. The Seahawks have covered 17 of their last 26 as favorites when giving three or fewer points, while the Cardinals have covered 15 of their last 19 when catching three or fewer points as 'dogs. As for the total? Fasten your seatbelts ahead of this one. Seattle is 6-2 to the over this year and 24-11-1 to the over in its last 36 contests, including 7-2-1 with a total of at least 51. Arizona is riding a three-game over streak and has scored at least 30 points in each of its last five games.Whenever the total gets this high, the over should be on high alert. Since 2016, the over is 24-13-2 with a total of at least 55, including 9-3 with a total of at least 57.5.Player propsChase Edmonds over 19.5 receiving yards (-110)Kenyan Drake's return last week expectedly cut Edmonds' workload in the Cardinals' rushing game, but he's still a solid bet to produce as a receiver out of the backfield. The third-year back caught three passes for 21 yards Sunday and has earned at least 20 yards receiving in five of his last seven contests, averaging 33.3 yards over that stretch.Seattle's defense has been stout against the run this year, though it's allowed opposing running backs to record 47.8 yards per game through the air, seventh-most by any defense. Edmonds gashed the Seahawks for 87 receiving yards in Week 7 and should get the lion's share of receiving work out of the backfield Thursday, too.Russell Wilson over 0.5 interceptions (-130)This feels gift-wrapped, doesn't it? Wilson has been a turnover machine as of late, throwing seven interceptions in his last four games. It's not just isolated to those weeks, though. Wilson has thrown a pick in six of nine games this year and is tied for the third-most interceptions (10) on the season.Arizona's defense is tied for the ninth-most picks (8) this year and has seven over its last four games. In a potential shootout, this is a small price to pay for something that seems incredibly likely.Best betCardinals over 27.5 points (-103)While this game profiles as high-scoring, we really only know two things for certain: The Cardinals' offense is good, and the Seahawks' defense is really, really bad. Seattle's offense has shown flashes of brilliance but is also mired in a turnover spiral, while Arizona's defense has been hit-and-miss all year.As we saw the last time these two teams played, either side could easily steal this game late, but it's hard to imagine Thursday night passing without a strong offensive showing from the Cardinals. Take the over or the points if you're feeling conventional, but this is likely the safest play on the night.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Giants fire OL coach after reported confrontation with Judge
The New York Giants announced they fired offensive line coach Marc Colombo on Wednesday, but it apparently wasn't merely due to the blocking unit's struggles.Colombo was relieved of his duties after a nasty verbal confrontation with head coach Joe Judge, sources told ESPN's Jordan Raanan. The argument reportedly stemmed from New York's decision to hire longtime assistant and offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo as a consultant last week. Colombo disagreed with the move and felt he was being undermined, according to Raanan."We appreciate what Marc has done, but I felt like this move is in the best interest of the team," Judge said in the team's statement.DeGuglielmo, who worked with Judge on the New England Patriots' coaching staff from 2014-15, will now replace Colombo. The Giants interviewed him for the then-vacant offensive line job in the offseason.New York has allowed 31 sacks in 10 games this season, which ranks 30th in the NFL.The 3-7 Giants are currently second in the NFC East behind the 3-5-1 Philadelphia Eagles.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Raiders' Ferrell tested positive for COVID-19, likely out vs. Chiefs
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Clelin Ferrell recently tested positive for COVID-19, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. The Raiders placed Ferrell and defensive back Lamarcus Joyner on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, though the team did not disclose whether either player contracted the virus.Ferrell, the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is now unlikely to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, Rapoport adds. Joyner was reportedly deemed a close contact of Ferrell's and must test negative before being cleared to play. After amassing 4.5 sacks during his rookie campaign, Ferrell has yet to record a quarterback takedown in 2020. Joyner has started four games this season and is Las Vegas' primary nickel cornerback. The Raiders have dealt with a number of COVID-19 issues this season. Right tackle Trent Brown will reportedly be sidelined until December due to virus complications, and linebacker Cory Littleton was also placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list last week.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Wilson 'going to keep swinging' amid turnover struggles
Russell Wilson isn't letting recent on-field struggles shake his confidence. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback is currently mired in a slump, as his 13 turnovers are his most through the first 10 games of any season in his NFL career. His team has also lost three of its last four games. But the Pro Bowl passer insists mistakes will be corrected."You may slip and fall a little bit," Wilson said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. "You've got to just keep climbing. I think Vince Lombardi said something about that one time. I think he talked about the man who's on top of the mountain didn't just get there. It's so true. I think that as a team, there's always challenges."The 31-year-old continued: "The guys that can keep getting up and keep swinging, those are the players and those are the teams that keep overcoming. What I do know about myself is I'm an overcomer. I've been doubted before. One thing about me is I'm going to keep swinging."After emerging as an early-season MVP favorite, Wilson has thrown nine touchdowns to seven interceptions and three fumbles over Seattle's last four contests."The turnovers, he knows he has to be better with that," Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. "He knows that. We coach him no different than everybody else. It's nonnegotiable ... We always want to be one of the top teams in the league at taking care of the football. He's always going to be a guy that's been that way. He's normally a single-digit interception guy. He understands that."Schottenheimer added: "We completely trust Russ. Russ will get through this. I really believe that."Wilson and the Seahawks will attempt to get back on track on Thursday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona earned an overtime win over Seattle in the teams' first meeting in Week 7.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
NFL Power Rankings - Week 11: One unheralded Pro Bowl nominee for each team
The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. With 10 weeks in the books, we identify one unheralded player on each team that is deserving of Pro Bowl consideration.1. Kansas City Chiefs (8-1) Rob Carr / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 1Kansas City has allowed the eighth-fewest passing yards, and the surprisingly solid play of second-year cornerback Rashad Fenton is a big reason why. Fenton is allowing just 57.1% of his targets in coverage to be completed, despite opponents routinely being in catch-up mode because of Patrick Mahomes and Co.2. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-0)Previous Rank: 2The Steelers' front seven is stacked with elite players such as T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Stephon Tuitt. So it's easy to forget Bud Dupree, even when the 2015 first-rounder is tied for eighth in the league in sacks with seven, and he's forced two fumbles.3. New Orleans Saints (7-2)Previous Rank: 3Who knew Trey Hendrickson would be the answer to the Saints' pass-rush questions opposite Cameron Jordan. The 2017 third-round pick has come into his own, logging a team-leading 7.5 sacks through nine games.4. Green Bay Packers (7-2)Previous Rank: 5Corey Linsley's presence and steady performance is a welcome sight along an offensive line that's needed to overcome the offseason departure of Bryan Bulaga, and David Bakhtiari being out due to injury. He's the top-ranked center in football, according to PFF.5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-3) Mike Ehrmann / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 8Ali Marpet has missed the past two games due to a concussion, but the left guard is the Buccaneers' best offensive lineman when healthy. He has yet to allow a sack this season, and Marpet deserves the first Pro Bowl nod of his six-year career.6. Arizona Cardinals (6-3)Previous Rank: 11DeAndre Hopkins draws all the attention and praise, and rightfully so after hauling in Kyler Murray's Hail Mary. But some may be surprised to learn Christian Kirk leads the Cardinals with six receiving touchdowns.7. Buffalo Bills (7-3)Previous Rank: 6Few players have performed at a high level for as long as Jerry Hughes without getting national attention. The pass-rusher hasn't made the Pro Bowl in 10 seasons. But with four sacks and two forced fumbles this campaign, and the Bills looking like a force in the AFC, it could be the year for Hughes' Pro Bowl debut.8. Indianapolis Colts (6-3)Previous Rank: 13DeForest Buckner and Darius Leonard garner most of the plaudits on Indy's emerging defense, but Grover Stewart's standout play makes their work much easier. He's among the league's most athletic nose tackles, and his breakout year is helping the Colts' run defense reach a new level.9. Seattle Seahawks (6-3)Previous Rank: 7The Seahawks' defense has been historically bad, and it's currently the league's worst. But Poona Ford is a bright light in the middle of the defensive line. The 300-pound nose tackle has been stuffing plays in the backfield and getting to the quarterback for a team bereft of quality pass-rushers.10. Baltimore Ravens (6-3) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 4Baltimore sorely misses All-Pro Ronnie Stanley, but few teams enjoy the luxury of an alternative on Orlando Brown Jr.'s level. The veteran seamlessly shifted from right tackle to left tackle after Stanley's injury, a feat far harder than most assume.11. Miami Dolphins (6-3)Previous Rank: 10Kicker Jason Sanders has been nearly perfect through nine games, making all 23 of his extra-point attempts and going 20-of-21 kicking field goals. Sanders has also nailed all five of his 50-plus yard attempts.12. Los Angeles Rams (6-3)Previous Rank: 14Leonard Floyd is enjoying a resurgence with the Rams. On the league's second-ranked defense, he trails only Aaron Donald with 15 quarterback hits, and his seven sacks already match a single-season career high.13. Las Vegas Raiders (6-3)Previous Rank: 12Linebacker Cory Littleton was the Raiders' prized free-agent addition this past offseason, but new signing Nick Kwiatkoski has stood out in the center of their defense. The veteran is excelling in coverage, with his one-handed interception of Drew Lock last week the latest in a long line of standout plays.14. Tennessee Titans (6-3)Previous Rank: 9Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown are the key cogs that keep the Titans rolling. But their offense wouldn't be nearly as potent without tight end and red-zone monster Jonnu Smith. Adam Thielen (eight) and Mike Evans (seven) are the only players with more red-zone receiving touchdowns than Smith (six).15. Cleveland Browns (6-3) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 15Wyatt Teller has been a rock in front of Baker Mayfield, allowing just four pressures over 167 pass-blocking snaps. But the guard really shines as a run-blocker while regularly annihilating defensive lines to create holes for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Teller's return from injury in Week 10, along with Chubb, sparked a 231-yard rushing day for Cleveland.16. Minnesota Vikings (4-5)Previous Rank: 19With much more well-known names surrounding him on the Vikings' defense, linebacker Eric Wilson has been stuffing the stat sheet, recording 3.5 sacks, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, 61 tackles, and seven quarterback hits.17. New England Patriots (4-5)Previous Rank: 21Stephon Gilmore's Defensive Player of the Year campaign last season was so good that J.C. Jackson's five interceptions flew under the radar. So to make sure he gets his deserved attention now, the third-year cornerback has already racked up six picks in nine games.18. San Francisco 49ers (4-6)Previous Rank: 16This is Fred Warner's best chance for his first Pro Bowl selection. With much of the 49ers' roster on the injured reserve, he's taken command of the team's defense while ranking as the league's fourth-best linebacker, according to PFF.19. Detroit Lions (4-5)Previous Rank: 25T.J. Hockenson trails only Travis Kelce and Jonnu Smith among tight ends for the most touchdown catches, with five on the season. In just his second campaign, he leads all Lions pass-catchers in targets, receptions, and scores, and Hockenson has been a red-zone favorite.20. Chicago Bears (5-5) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 17Jimmy Graham is one of the three tight ends who have matched Hockenson's scoring output. Cast aside after a forgettable two-year stint with the Packers, Graham is one of a select few doing anything of note on the Bears' offense.21. Carolina Panthers (3-7)Previous Rank: 18The free-agent market wasn't as robust as Robby Anderson would have liked, but he landed in an ideal situation. Playing in Matt Rhule's offense, he ranks fifth in the league in catches and yards, and sixth in targets.22. Atlanta Falcons (3-6)Previous Rank: 22The Falcons cut ties with Desmond Trufant in the offseason before making rookie first-round pick A.J. Terrell their new No. 1 corner, and he's performed admirably. Terrell missed one game earlier in the season due to COVID-19, but he's since recorded his first career pick.23. Cincinnati Bengals (2-6-1)Previous Rank: 23Joe Burrow's protection is leaving a lot to be desired, but left tackle Jonah Williams is doing all he can to keep the No. 1 pick clean. The sophomore has allowed just one sack while drawing only one flag, which is even more impressive after missing his rookie season due to injury.24. Denver Broncos (3-6)Previous Rank: 24Penalty problems plagued Garett Bolles during his first three seasons, and it seemed likely the Broncos would soon tire of the left tackle's poor discipline. While Bolles hasn't eliminated his issues, he's made a huge leap as a pass-protector. The lineman is PFF's top-ranked tackle after giving up zero sacks and eight pressures.25. New York Giants (3-7) Patrick McDermott / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 28Inside linebacker Blake Martinez has regained his form in his first year with the Giants. The 26-year-old leads the league with 96 tackles while logging two sacks and being strong in coverage.26. Philadelphia Eagles (3-5-1)Previous Rank: 20For a three-game stretch, little-known Travis Fulgham carried the Eagles' passing offense with 284 receiving yards and touchdowns in each contest. Though he's played in just six games, Fulgham still paces the team in yards (443) and touchdowns (four).27. Los Angeles Chargers (2-7)Previous Rank: 27Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram have missed time with injuries, so the Chargers needed a defensive lineman to step up. Uchenna Nwosu has done just that, tying his career-high with 3.5 sacks.28. Dallas Cowboys (2-7)Previous Rank: 30One of the Cowboys' few bright spots, Aldon Smith is enjoying a career resurrection. He leads the team with five sacks, even after spending the previous four years away from football due to suspensions.29. Houston Texans (2-7)Previous Rank: 26The Texans would, of course, likely want a do-over on the DeAndre Hopkins trade. But Brandin Cooks, the man brought in to replace the departed star, is producing a good first season in Houston, racking up 549 yards and three scores while also seemingly putting his injury woes behind him.30. Washington Football Team (2-7) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 29The rival Eagles discarded Ronald Darby after he was burned for six touchdowns in 2019, and now he's thriving in Washington. He's allowed just one score and is capably shutting things down from the left corner position.31. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8)Previous Rank: 31Undrafted rookie running back James Robinson has been a fantasy darling. But while playing for one of the league's worst teams, Robinson still isn't getting near the national praise he deserves for being fifth in rushing with 689 yards.32. New York Jets (0-9)Previous Rank: 32Jamison Crowder has missed four games due to injury, so his overall stats don't stand out. But the receiver is 10th in the league in receiving yards per game (81.8), a near-miraculous feat in Adam Gase's offense.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Report: Chiefs to sign DeAndre Baker to practice squad
The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to sign cornerback DeAndre Baker to their practice squad, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports. The former New York Giants defender is scheduled to meet with the Chiefs on Wednesday morning, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.Baker was placed on the commissioner's exempt list in July after he was accused of armed robbery in May, and the Giants waived him. All the charges against him were dropped on Monday.Though Baker is now free to sign with any club, he may still face league discipline for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.New York selected the defensive back 30th in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in all 16 games last year with the Giants, recording eight passes defensed.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Report: Stafford has partially torn thumb ligament in throwing hand
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has a partially torn thumb ligament in his throwing hand, reports NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Lions will take the week to determine the veteran passer's availability for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, though he's expected to start.X-rays on the thumb came back negative on Monday and cleared Stafford of a major injury, but further tests determined the tear.Stafford has played through multiple injuries throughout his 12-year career. He suited up for all 16 games for eight consecutive years before he was limited to just eight last season due to a back injury.Stafford played through the thumb ailment on Sunday and posted 276 passing yards and three touchdowns against the Washington Football Team.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL MVP odds: Wilson surpassed by Mahomes as betting favorite
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Four weeks ago, Russell Wilson looked like a near lock to win his first NFL MVP award. Now, he's not even the favorite. That honor goes to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (+175), who leads the NFL in QBR (87.0) and ranks second in passer rating (115.9) through 10 weeks. Wilson (+280) ranks second weeks after being priced shorter than even money, while Aaron Rodgers (+300) and Kyler Murray (+800) are the only other options shorter than 10-1.Kansas City was on a bye this past week, though Mahomes was electric in his last start, torching the Panthers secondary for four touchdowns a week after tossing five scores against the Jets. Still, the fact Wilson lost his lead to an idle competitor speaks to how poorly he's played lately. The Seahawks quarterback threw for two interceptions and zero touchdowns in Sunday's loss to the Rams, only the fourth time he's done that in his career and the first time since 2016. It was his third multi-interception game in his last four, with Seattle going 1-3 since its torrid 5-0 start.Quarterbacks have won this award in 12 of the last 13 seasons, with Adrian Peterson's stellar 2012 run the lone outlier. Among those 12 QBs, all of them led their team to at least 11 wins, and they averaged only 2.6 losses among them. Wilson's team has already lost three games and is currently clinging to the final spot in the NFC playoffs; no MVP winner has missed the postseason since 1973.Even more concerning for Wilson's chances to win the award are his turnover woes, which might be disqualifying for his candidacy. His 10 interceptions are tied for third-most in the NFL behind Carson Wentz (12) and Kirk Cousins (11), and he's on pace to finish with 18 picks. Since 2002, no MVP winner's finished with more than 16 interceptions, and none ranked in the top five in the league. In fact, only three winners ranked worse than 19th in interceptions among that group. This isn't to say Wilson can't win the award. Each of the last 14 quarterbacks to win MVP finished in the top five in passing touchdowns; Wilson currently leads the league (28). He's also second in passing yards (2,789) and has chipped in 325 yards on the ground. Yet if he can't quit turning it over - tanking the Seahawks' chances of winning in the process - he'll be a hard bet to justify at such short odds. The race isn't just between Mahomes and Wilson, either. Here are the updated odds to win the award with three names to watch over the final seven weeks:PLAYERODDSPatrick Mahomes+175Russell Wilson+280Aaron Rodgers+300Kyler Murray+800Tom Brady+2000Josh Allen+2300Ben Roethlisberger+3000Alvin Kamara+5000Dalvin Cook+5000Philip Rivers+5000Derek Carr+8000Kyler Murray (+800)Murray was a trendy candidate among public bettors at roughly 25-1, but the Cardinals' slim playoff hopes seemingly doomed his candidacy. Who's laughing now? After Sunday's wild win against the Bills, Murray and co. are tied atop the NFC West with a 6-3 record and have the inside track for the No. 3 seed in the conference.Murray ranks outside the top 10 in passing yards (2,375) and touchdowns (17), but he leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards (604) and is second among all players in rushing touchdowns (10). He's also engineered three fourth-quarter comebacks, which helps his narrative as an emerging superstar in the league. If he outduels Wilson on Thursday, this number will only get shorter.Josh Allen (+2300)Allen was on the other side of Murray's miracle Sunday, yet he still padded his stats with 322 total yards and three scores, including one as a receiver. His statistical resume is certainly deserving of hardware - he leads the league in passing yards (2,871) and is tied with Rodgers, Mahomes, and Murray for the second-most total touchdowns (27).The Bills' record over the final seven weeks will be crucial. Buffalo plays just two teams with a winning record in that stretch, so it's conceivable for the Bills to finish with 11 or 12 wins and snap the Patriots' 11-year AFC East winning streak. That could be enough to bolster Allen's strong statistical case.Dalvin Cook (+5000)Yes, running backs rarely win this award anymore. And, yes, the Vikings are only 4-5 after Monday's win over the Bears. But what more is a man to do? Cook currently leads all players in rushing yards (954) and rushing touchdowns (12) despite playing one game fewer than most, and he's currently on pace for 2,143 scrimmage yards and 24 total touchdowns. That yardage total would be the most since ... Christian McCaffrey in 2019, which is another reason why he's unlikely to win the award. Still, at 50-1, there's value here on Cook ripping off a historic run over the final seven weeks and emerging from a mostly uninspiring field.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. 49ers' Shanahan: I expect Garoppolo 'to be our starter next year'
The San Francisco 49ers don't appear to be in the market for a new franchise quarterback.Despite rumors suggesting the Niners could be ready to part with injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, head coach Kyle Shanahan foresees a continued partnership."I expect Jimmy to be our starter next year," Shanahan said on Tuesday.Garoppolo has posted a sparkling 22-8 record as the Niners' starter, and he contributed to their run to the Super Bowl last season. However, he's often cited as the weak link on a team built around a strong defense and dependable running game. The signal-caller is expected to be sidelined until mid-December with a high ankle sprain, and returning this season hasn't been ruled out."I mean, I expect him to come and play with us this year. We have six games left. We are not out of the playoffs yet," Shanahan said.Injuries have decimated the 49ers' roster this season, but they own a 4-6 record and aren't entirely out of the postseason picture."I've been on a team that was 3-6 going into a bye week that ended up winning their division. I think we have guys on this team capable of finishing this the right way," Shanahan said. "We've gotta do it one game at a time and I hope Jimmy can come back and be a part of that but to think that we've made any decisions on anybody going into the future isn't the case."Jimmy has won a lot of games for us this year. It's a lot harder to win games when he's not here. Just hoping we can get him back."Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

NFL Week 11 survivor picks: Trust the Cowboys' collapse to continue
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.A less-than-convincing Packers win - but a win nonetheless - sent us through to Week 11. Ten down, seven to go.I'm changing things up a bit in this column. There's no point in telling you all why the Steelers, Chiefs, or some other team is the pick of the week when you - and I - have already picked that team. This whole thing would become an exercise in futility.Instead, I'll go over each of my top 10 picks each week and rank them from strongest to weakest, and you can decide from there. If by some miracle you happen to have used all 10 teams already, refer to the confidence rankings. That's what they're there for.Week 11 confidence rankingConfidence rankings (CR) are out of 10 based on the author's picks:AWAYHOME (SPREAD)PICK (CR)DallasMinnesota (-7.5)MIN (8)PittsburghJacksonville (+10)PIT (7)Kansas CityLas Vegas (+7)KC (6)NY JetsLA Chargers (-7.5)LAC (6)AtlantaNew Orleans (N/A)NO (5)ArizonaSeattle (-3)SEA (4)TennesseeBaltimore (-6)BAL (4)MiamiDenver (+3)MIA (4)DetroitCarolina (N/A)CAR (3)PhiladelphiaCleveland (N/A)CLE (3)LA RamsTampa Bay (-3)TB (2)New EnglandHouston (+1.5)NE (1)CincinnatiWashington (-2)CIN (1)Green BayIndianapolis (-2.5)GB (1)(Odds source: theScore Bet)1. Minnesota Vikings (vs. Dallas Cowboys)As the Cowboys come out of their bye, the rest of their season can go one of two ways: They either rally in a still-open NFC East, or they completely capitulate. When a team comes into the season with Super Bowl aspirations and the first half of the campaign goes as poorly as it has for Dallas, it's usually the latter. We still don't know if Garrett Gilbert or Andy Dalton will be starting for the Cowboys this week, but it won't matter much against a rapidly improving Vikings defense. Mike Zimmer's creative blitz schemes will overwhelm the Cowboys' ravaged offensive line, while Minnesota's winning formula on offense - running Dalvin Cook early and often - will face little resistance; Dallas' defense ranks 29th against the run, according to PFF, and 30th in yards allowed per rush.2. Pittsburgh Steelers (@ Jacksonville Jaguars)Cover machine Jake Luton was at it again over the weekend, giving the Packers - and those of us who picked them - a legitimate scare. But the Jaguars are better constructed to attack Green Bay than they are Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville won't have anywhere near the same success running against the Steelers. That puts Luton under increased pressure as Pittsburgh's ferocious pass rush goes up against a Jaguars team that struggles in pass protection.3. Kansas City Chiefs (@ Las Vegas Raiders)Together, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have never lost a game when they have more than nine days to prepare. The Raiders came into Arrowhead Stadium and won in impressive fashion earlier this season, and they're playing great football right now. But they still own one of the league's worst secondaries. The Chiefs won't take anything lightly here, as another Las Vegas win will blow open the AFC West. With Mahomes and Co. getting an extra week to prepare, it's hard not to feel confident about Kansas City's chances.4. Los Angeles Chargers (vs. New York Jets)This might be the only matchup this season in which the Jets aren't at a significant coaching disadvantage. Anthony Lynn has had a disastrous season in charge, and his clock management and decision-making skills have cost the Chargers on a weekly basis. New York showed signs of life before the bye, and with Lynn constantly getting in his team's way, not even Justin Herbert's sensational rookie tour can push the Chargers higher up this list.5. New Orleans Saints (vs. Atlanta Falcons)I can't in good faith endorse the Saints over the Falcons with Jameis Winston starting his first game for New Orleans. With all due respect to Drew Brees, Winston's arm is almost certainly an upgrade. But he can't come close to matching Brees' poise and command of the Saints' offense. There will be an adjustment period, and Winston's penchant for turning the ball over portends more volatility than I'd like in a do-or-die survivor setting.6. Seattle Seahawks (vs. Arizona Cardinals)This Seahawks defense might be bad enough to keep Seattle out of my top five all season. But the Cardinals - their electrifying offense notwithstanding - have now allowed at least 30 points in three straight games. This is a prime revenge spot for the Seahawks and a letdown one for Arizona after its last-second win over the Bills. Coming off his worst game of the season, Russell Wilson might explode Thursday night.7. Baltimore Ravens (vs. Tennessee Titans)Lamar Jackson's critics have been out in full force after his horror show against a Patriots defense that made Joe Flacco look like Joe Namath. But the weather was working against Jackson, and the young Ravens quarterback has done enough to earn the benefit of the doubt. Mike Vrabel got the better of John Harbaugh in their January playoff meeting, but the Titans' defense just doesn't have the horses to keep up this time around.8. Miami Dolphins (@ Denver Broncos)The Dolphins may never lose again. Forget what Tua Tagovailoa has done in just three career starts - though his poise, accuracy, and ability have all been as good as advertised. No, it's Miami's defense that has me jumping aboard the bandwagon. The Broncos have been totally unable to run the ball lately, and I can't see Drew Lock finding success against the formidable duo of Byron Jones and Xavien Howard in the Dolphins' secondary.9. Carolina Panthers (vs. Detroit Lions)Teddy Bridgewater's health is my only concern here. Otherwise, I'd be bumping this well-coached Panthers team into the top five for a home tilt against a Lions unit that's anything but. The quit-on-Matt-Patricia era is well and truly underway, and I'll be looking to fade Detroit often over the final seven weeks of the season.10. Cleveland Browns (vs. Philadelphia Eagles)Weather looks like it's going to be an issue again in Cleveland, which plays into the hands of the Browns and their relentless rushing attack. Getting key offensive weapons back still couldn't make the Eagles resemble anything close to a competent unit against the Giants, and there's little evidence to suggest a turnaround is imminent.Alex Moretto is a sports betting writer for theScore. NFL's 1st all-Black officiating crew to work Bucs-Rams game
Monday night's matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams will mark a historic milestone for the NFL, as the league has assembled an all-Black officiating crew for the first time."This historic Week 11 crew is a testament to the countless and immeasurable contributions of Black officials to the game, their exemplary performance, and to the power of inclusion that is the hallmark of this great game," NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent said in a statement, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. The crew will be led by referee Jerome Boger, who's in his 17th year as an official. He'll be joined by umpire Barry Anderson, down judge Julian Mapp, line judge Carl Johnson, side judge Dale Shaw, field judge Anthony Jeffries, and back judge Greg Steed.Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NFL assembled its officiating crews this season based on home geography to give officials the option of driving to games rather than flying. Johnson and Steed were pulled from other crews to work Monday's game.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Tomlin respects Jaguars: 'We're not a Big Ten team playing a MAC opponent'
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin brushed aside all discussion of Sunday's contest against the 1-8 Jacksonville Jaguars being a possible trap game for his undefeated squad."We are not a Big Ten team playing a MAC opponent this week. Every time we step into a stadium, we're playing professionals, players, and coaches. We've got a ridiculous level of respect for that," Tomlin said, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor. The Steelers are the NFL's only undefeated team and have won convincingly against the likes of the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns this season. Some of the club's other victories haven't followed suit, with a late come-from-behind effort needed against the Dallas Cowboys."Write your story, follow your storylines about trap games and things of that nature. We understand what we're going into in Jacksonville, that that's a group that's trying to kick our butt," Tomlin said. While the Jaguars have lost eight in a row, the Steelers head coach pointed to the history between the two teams as a major reason Pittsburgh is cautious heading into Jacksonville."We always have rough and tumble games with those guys down there," Tomlin said. The Steelers have won each of their previous three road contests against the Jaguars but only by a combined 17 points.Jacksonville will look to knock off Pittsburgh with a youthful and energetic offense. The team may turn to quarterback Jake Luton again as Gardner Minshew works his way back from injury. Rookie running back James Robinson is having an impressive campaign, rushing for 689 yards and seven total touchdowns."We understand we have a bull's-eye on our back," Tomlin said, per Joe Rutter of Trib Live.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. McKinley waived by Bengals after failing physical
Six days after claiming Takk McKinley off waivers, the Cincinnati Bengals waived the 2017 first-round pick after a failed physical, the team announced. The Atlanta Falcons released McKinley after he had asked the team for a trade and was unhappy when the deadline passed without a deal. The pass-rusher started his NFL career off fairly well with 13 sacks over his first two campaigns, but he registered only 3.5 in 2019 and one in four games this season. His playing time had also decreased toward the end of his Falcons tenure. The move leaves Cincinnati somewhat thin at defensive end. The team traded Carlos Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks at the deadline, leaving Carl Lawson, Sam Hubbard, and Amani Bledsoe atop the depth chart.Zac Taylor's squad is currently in a tie for 31st league-wide with just 11 sacks in 2020.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: NFL reviewing Antonio Brown's off-field incident
The NFL is reviewing an incident involving Antonio Brown after the receiver was accused of property damage last month, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The review is standard procedure as the league wasn't aware of the incident prior to Brown's reinstatement, Pelissero adds.A police report alleges the Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver destroyed a surveillance camera, berated a security guard, and threw his bicycle at the security gate. The incident took place two weeks before Brown signed with the Bucs, and police didn't charge him.The veteran receiver said Monday he "regrets that he lost his cool that day and he has made amends with the HOA," according to a statement released. The league also continues to monitor Brown's other off-field incidents, including a civil case scheduled for a hearing in January, Pelissero notes. The wide receiver could face discipline if the NFL discovers violations of the personal conduct policy.Brown recently signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay after serving an eight-game suspension for unrelated personal conduct violations.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Jimmy Fallon had Metcalf, Gronk, more drop phrases into interviews
It turns out Jimmy Fallon was behind some of the recent noteworthy quotes from NFL players. The late-night talk show host revealed Monday he tasked several players with dropping weird phrases into interviews, which he shared in a compilation video. The challenge included Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf comparing touchdowns to catching Pokemon and a bizarre maple syrup metaphor from Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski that left many people confused.Fallon has pulled similar stunts with MLB All-Stars and PGA Tour golfers.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: Foles avoids major injury after being carted off on MNF
Chicago Bears quarterback Nick Foles didn't suffer a major injury after being carted off the field late on Monday Night Football, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.Initial tests didn't reveal a fracture in Foles' hip, Garafolo adds. The Bears are hopeful he'll be back following their Week 11 bye.Head coach Matt Nagy said Tuesday that Foles will be "day-to-day" due to a right hip/glute ailment, according to Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune.Foles replaced an ineffective Mitch Trubisky in Week 3 but threw for just 106 yards and an interception against the Vikings.Trubisky is also on the shelf with a shoulder injury he suffered on a running play in Week 9. However, Chicago is hopeful Trubisky will be available after the team's bye, Garafolo notes. The Bears will next take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 12.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Derek Carr likely could have hit that mark, too, but the Las Vegas Raiders leaned on their rushing attack to pummel Denver.Tua is set up to be a solid fantasy streamer over the next three weeks with a stretch that features the Broncos, New York Jets, and Cincinnati Bengals.Jameis Winston, SaintsNext UpRosteredFABvs. ATL1%$1Drew Brees is dealing with multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung, and he's expected to be sidelined for at least two-to-three weeks and possibly longer.Enter Jameis Winston.Sean Payton hasn't yet named the starter for this week's game against the Atlanta Falcons, but it was Winston and not Taysom Hill who immediately stepped in when Brees went out on Sunday. And now Winston could get an opportunity to take advantage of one of the softest schedules over the next three weeks with a pair of games versus the Falcons sandwiching a meeting with the Broncos. Both clubs are among the top 10 most favorable matchups for fantasy quarterbacks, with the Falcons being the easiest. Atlanta has given up over 300 passing yards in eight of its nine outings this year, and at least three total touchdowns to six different passers.Remember, Teddy Bridgewater was a top-12 fantasy quarterback during the five-game stretch when Brees was sidelined last year. We could see something very similar play out with Winston over the next few weeks.Cam Newton (62% rostered) is the top add if he's still available in your league.Streamer options: Kirk Cousins vs. DAL (29% rostered), Baker Mayfield vs. PHI (34% rostered), Daniel Jones on Bye (30% rostered), Alex Smith vs. CIN (5% rostered), Philip Rivers vs. GB (22% rostered)Running backs Mark Brown / Getty Images Sport / GettyKalen Ballage, ChargersNext UpRosteredFABvs. NYJ19%$14With Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson likely a few weeks away from returning, the Los Angeles Chargers turned to Ballage as their lead back on Sunday.Ballage followed up his 18-touch, 84-yard, one-touchdown performance in Week 9 with 102 yards from scrimmage against a depleted Dolphins run defense. Either way, it was an impressive stat line from a player many viewed as a pedestrian runner.Until Ekeler returns to the lineup, Ballage is the favorite to handle lead back duties ahead of Joshua Kelley and Troymaine Pope. He'll get another positive game script in Week 11 with the Bolts hosting the winless Jets, making him a borderline RB2 in fantasy.Salvon Ahmed, DolphinsNext UpRosteredFABat DEN6%$14With Jordan Howard a healthy scratch, Ahmed dominated the Dolphins' backfield snaps and turned in 90 yards and a score on 22 touches. It was reminiscent of when Myles Gaskin emerged as a difference-maker earlier this year, but, this time, Miami's front office went ahead and released Howard after the game.Perhaps that means Matt Breida (23% rostered) is close to returning from his hamstring injury, which could complicate the touch distribution. However, it seems likely the Dolphins will give Ahmed a chance to lead the way again. If he does get another start, he'll face that Broncos defense that just got steamrolled by Josh Jacobs and Devontae Booker. Consider Ahmed an upside RB3/flex in a great matchup.Damien Harris, Latavius Murray, and Wayne Gallman are around the 60% rostered mark and should be rostered in almost all leagues.High-upside backups Alexander Mattison (35% rostered), Boston Scott (31% rostered), Tony Pollard (19% rostered), and Brian Hill (8% rostered) should be rostered in most leagues.Flex options: Carlos Hyde vs. ARI (10% rostered), Nyheim Hines vs. GB (41% rostered), Rex Burkhead at HOU (24% rostered), Alex Collins vs. ARI (0% rostered), Jordan Wilkins vs. GB (18% rostered)Risky flex options: La'Mical Perine at LAC (25% rostered), Malcolm Brown vs. TB (25% rostered), DeeJay Dallas vs. ARI (37% rostered), Devontae Booker vs. KC (3% rostered), Gus Edwards vs. TEN (36% rostered), Josh Kelley vs. NYG (36% rostered)Other backups to roster: Cam Akers vs. TB (26% rostered), D'Onta Foreman at BAL (0% rostered), Benny Snell at JAX (5% rostered)Injury stashes: Sony Michel at HOU (24% rostered), Rashaad Penny vs. ARI (4% rostered)Deeper stashes: Anthony McFarland Jr. at JAX (1% rostered), Corey Clement at CLE (0% rostered), Royce Freeman vs. MIA (1% rostered), Jeremy McNichols at BAL (1% rostered), DeAndre Washington at DEN (2% rostered)Wide receivers Elsa / Getty Images Sport / GettyJakobi Meyers, PatriotsNext UpRosteredFABat HOU48%$19Meyers has been the Patriots' only reliable receiver over the last month, and it's helped him become a WR3 in fantasy - albeit one with a slightly lower ceiling due to the lack of touchdown passes being thrown by New England this year.Even without any trips to the end zone, Meyers has scored the 10th-most PPR fantasy points among wideouts during the last four weeks thanks to stat lines of 4-60, 6-58, 12-169, and 5-59.His target volume may take a hit if Julian Edelman is able to return in the coming weeks, but Meyers is New England's No. 1 option and a worthy starter in fantasy leagues until then.Allen Lazard/Marquez Valdes-Scantling, PackersNext UpRosteredFABat IND42%/17%$14/$9Lazard experienced soreness in practice last week, causing the Green Bay Packers' conservative medical staff to hold him out in Week 10. As long as he didn't have a setback, Lazard appears close to returning to one of the league's best passing attacks. In his absence, Valdes-Scantling has come on with back-to-back quality performances, resulting in 202 yards and three touchdowns. With everyone healthy, Lazard would be a WR3 and MVS a high-upside WR4, though consistency will always be an issue with Davante Adams soaking up such a massive target share.Tim Patrick, BroncosNext UpRosteredFABvs. MIA24%$14Do we really have to talk about Patrick again?
