NFL upset of the week: Giants will settle the score with Eagles
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. Each week during the NFL season, we'll focus on one underdog with a chance to pull off the outright upset. Last week, the Colts (+105) wilted in a winnable spot against the Ravens, bringing our record to 3-6 on moneyline underdogs with -0.5 units won. This week, we've got our eye on the Giants (+160), who are catching 3.5 points but could arguably be favored against the inconsistent Eagles.Don't sleep on New York's defenseThe Giants sit in last place in the NFL's worst division, so you'd be forgiven for overlooking just how frisky they've been this year. Seven of their nine games have been decided by one score, including each of the last four weeks.Much of the credit belongs to their defense, which is among the top half of the NFL in yards allowed (360.0) and points allowed (24.3). New York has held its last four opponents to 21.5 points per contest on average with nine forced turnovers over that stretch. In fact, the Giants' 15 takeaways rank second thus far, though their 15 giveaways have held them back.Since the middle of 2016, New York is 15-6 when winning the turnover battle and 3-31 when losing it. That's encouraging ahead of this matchup with the Eagles, who rank second-worst in the NFL in turnover differential (-7) and beat the Giants by one point in Week 7 despite forcing three turnovers. It'll bode well for New York's chances if the team can stabilize that number.Philly's roster still in fluxAs much as bettors want to believe in the Eagles, this roster still has major issues. The bye week came at a perfect time, but it still didn't rectify Philadelphia's beleaguered offensive line or erase lingering injuries for nearly every skill-position player. However, Carson Wentz wouldn't be able to connect with a full arsenal of weapons as evidenced by his league-leading 12 interceptions through eight games. That won't fly against an opportunistic Giants defense that picked off three passes and forced three fumbles a week ago against Washington.Believe it or not, Philadelphia ranks lower than New York in DVOA and PFF team grades, yet the Eagles are giving points on the road to a club they narrowly beat at home. There simply isn't value in chasing the perception of a team. Why the Giants will winNew York's offense is still rudderless, and its defense is led by two recent signees - James Bradberry and Blake Martinez - whom most casual NFL fans have never heard of. It still works, though, as this team had the Buccaneers on the ropes just a week after nearly beating the Eagles.Expect the Giants to take better care of the ball in the rematch and continue to force Wentz into uncomfortable throws that he hasn't shown he can make this year. That alone should be enough for New York to pull off the upset this time around.(Odds source: theScore Bet)C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Dolphins place Van Noy, 2 others on COVID-19 list
The Miami Dolphins placed linebacker Kyle Van Noy, defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, and wide receiver Matt Cole on the COVID-19 reserve, the team announced Thursday. The Dolphins removed wide receiver Lynn Bowden from the list following a six-day stint.Miami will look for its fifth straight win when it faces the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.Van Noy, a marquee offseason acquisition from the New England Patriots, has 33 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in seven appearances.Wilkins, a first-round pick from Clemson in 2019, has 28 tackles and a sack over eight contests.Cole, an undrafted rookie, is on the practice squad. The Dolphins have encountered multiple COVID-19 issues over the past week. After an assistant coach tested positive, he and four others on the staff missed Miami's win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Cardinals' Peterson: NFL needs 'more refs on the field'
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson isn't happy with how NFL referees are officiating games this season."What I'm proposing to the league: We need more refs on the field to officiate the game if the back judge can't see the receivers, so now the (defensive back) is at a disadvantage," Peterson told reporters Thursday, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. "I almost think he's not refereeing the game properly. He's just not seeing the whole game, so we need more eyes to help these guys."Peterson's criticism stems from a pass-interference call against him during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. The eight-time Pro Bowler allowed a 17-yard catch to wide receiver DeVante Parker on the play despite the penalty call, which was declined by the Dolphins."I was like, 'I didn't touch him. Like, what do you mean I got a pass interference?'" Peterson said of the play. "He said, 'Well, from my angle, it looked like you was engaged with him.' I'm like, 'What do you mean from your angle? You can't even see the receiver because you're right behind me.'"That was the only pass-interference penalty called against Peterson this season so far. Overall, the 30-year-old has been flagged five times in 2020, including four calls for holding."We need more eyes on the field, Mr. Goodell, to get these games officiated better, because receivers get away with so much. They push off every route," he said.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

NFL Week 10 trend plays: Bridgewater keeps cashing as a 'dog
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. Each week, we'll highlight the best NFL betting trends and angles to consider as you prepare for the weekend's action. The trends were below .500 last week for the first time since Week 2, but we can get back on track with a juicy slate of Week 10 contests. Here are some notable trends to watch for this week.Buccaneers (-5.5, 50.5) at Panthers, 1 p.m. ETSurely you've heard about Teddy Bridgewater's heroics as an underdog, but it bears repeating. The Panthers quarterback is 21-6 against the spread as an underdog, including 13-2 ATS when catching more than a field goal. The Buccaneers are 9-16-1 ATS in their last 26 as road favorites, and the team is 12-24-5 ATS after a loss since late 2015.Trend play: Panthers +5.5Bengals at Steelers (-7.5, 47), 4:25 p.m.It might be time to stop betting against the Bengals as underdogs. They've gone 9-2-2 ATS in their last 13 games as underdogs, and a phenomenal 11-2-1 ATS in their last 14 catching points on the road. The Steelers, meanwhile, are 7-12 ATS in their last 19 contests as home chalk, and the club is 4-9 ATS in its previous 13 games giving a touchdown or more.Trend play: Bengals +7.5Seahawks at Rams (-2, 55), 4:25 p.m.While the Rams have bested the Seahawks overall in recent meetings, it's been a different story against the spread, with Seattle going 5-2 ATS over its last seven against Los Angeles. The Seahawks are also 27-11-3 ATS after a loss since drafting Russell Wilson in 2012. Lastly, road 'dogs catching two or fewer points are a stellar 38-14-3 ATS (73.1%) since 2017.Trend play: Seahawks +2Ravens (-7, 43) at Patriots, 8:20 p.m.Few teams perform better as road chalk than the Ravens, who are 11-4-1 ATS over their last 16 in that spot, and 6-1-1 ATS in the club's last eight giving seven-plus points on the road. Generally, road favorites of at least a touchdown have been quite profitable, going 34-19-2 ATS (64.2%) since 2018 with a 16-9-1 ATS run since mid-2019.Trend play: Ravens -7(Odds source: theScore Bet)C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Ravens OC not worried about defenses calling out plays
Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman doesn't put too much stock into Lamar Jackson's revelation that opposing defenses are calling out their plays before the snap."Calling out plays on the defense is nothing new," Roman said Thursday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "They're going to be right sometimes (and) they're going to be wrong sometimes. I think we know that. But that's definitely an element of the game. It always has been and probably always will be."The reigning NFL MVP hinted Wednesday on "The Rich Eisen Show" that the Ravens' offense may be too predictable. After ranking first in points and second in yards per game in 2019, Baltimore sits eighth in points and 23rd in yards per game in 2020.Jackson and Co. took the league by storm last year with their dynamic rushing attack, but they haven't moved the ball down the field with the same type of ease this year."He definitely gives me feedback on when people are calling something out and whatnot," Roman said of his quarterback. "That's definitely part of what we talk about."Roman also noted that Jackson has the option to change certain plays at the line of scrimmage."There's definitely some plays where these audibles are available and built in," he said. "Some quarterbacks audible or have the freedom to audible every play. Sometimes that works out well for them, sometimes it doesn't. Some people don't do it at all. I would say we're somewhere in between there."Despite their inconsistencies, the Ravens still boast a 6-2 record heading into Week 10, when they'll meet the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Week 10 parlay: Bounce-backs for Browns, Cards, Bears
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Nope. Week 9 was flat out disastrous for our parlay, and let's leave it at that.Better results are in store for us starting in Week 10.Browns ML -180 (vs. Texans), Nov. 15 @ 1 p.m. ETBaker Mayfield couldn't have asked for a better opponent coming out of the bye than a Texans defense ranking 27th in efficiency. We've seen time and time again how Mayfield's splits are drastically different based on the quality of the team the Browns are facing. The 25-year-old is completing over 70% of his passes with nine touchdowns and two interceptions against defenses ranking in the bottom 10 in efficiency - disregarding the Raiders game for weather-related reasons - and owns a 63% completion rate with six touchdowns to five interceptions against the rest of his opponents.Houston falls into the former category and while Mayfield could find success here, he might not even need to. The Texans are second-worst in the NFL against running backs, allowing 5.1 yards per rush, while Cleveland is managing 5.0 yards per carry on offense - fourth-best in the NFL. The Browns will have their way on offense, pounding the rock down the heart of this Houston defense and keeping Deshaun Watson on the sideline as they grind out a comfortable win.Cardinals ML -130 (vs. Bills), Nov. 15 @ 1 p.m.Josh Allen returned to form last week and deserves all the credit in the world, as does the coaching staff, for catching the Seahawks completely off guard. But Seattle ranks 24th in defensive efficiency - a common theme among the Bills' opponents this season. The Cardinals rank 10th, by far the best of any defensive unit Buffalo has faced on the road this campaign. Arizona also ranks ninth in offense - one spot ahead of the Bills' pedestrian defense, which allows 4.6 yards per rush and 7.1 yards per pass.Buffalo laying a beating on the Seahawks, a team on a historically bad pace defensively, and the Cardinals losing to the Dolphins, who are drastically improved from their Week 2 meeting with the Bills, are both fresh on everyone's memory. Buffalo won't have an answer for Kyler Murray's antics, and with Patrick Peterson blanketing Stefon Diggs, this will be a much tougher test for Allen as the Bills fall to 7-3.Bears ML +135 (vs. Vikings), Nov. 16 @ 8:15 p.m.I know what you're thinking: The Vikings come into this game as one of the league's hotter teams, while the Bears are slumping to new lows on offense. But don't let recency bias cloud your judgment. Dalvin Cook has run wild for Minnesota the last two weeks and has 499 rushing yards in its three wins. The thing is, each of those opponents are among the worst run defenses in the league while Chicago ranks seventh in efficiency against the rush. Cook has had a miserable time in three career games against a Bears team that's limited him to just 86 yards on 34 carries. Minnesota's inability to get the ground game going against strong defenses puts added pressure on Kirk Cousins, who probably never wants to see this Chicago squad again. Cousins is 0-3, has been sacked 12 times, and has posted QB ratings of 22.9, 23.5, and 67.6 in three games against them as a Viking.Soldier Field is a house of horrors for Minnesota's defense, which - despite improving as of late - is a perfect elixir for a struggling Bears offense. The Vikings' secondary is thin and they have virtually no pass rush to speak of. Nick Foles will have a more comfortable evening in the pocket on what is shaping up to be a big night for Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, and Anthony Miller.Full parlay: Browns ML, Cardinals ML, Bears ML ($100 to win $547)(Odds source: theScore Bet)Alex Moretto is a sports betting writer for theScore. McCaffrey likely out vs. Bucs, reportedly could return in Week 11
The Carolina Panthers do not expect Christian McCaffrey to play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury."Looks like Christian probably won't play," head coach Matt Rhule said Wednesday. "I wouldn't say it's 100 percent, but it looks like he's pretty much out for this week and we'll see how it is next week."Rhule doesn't anticipate a season-ending injury for McCaffrey, characterizing the player's status as "more like day-to-day, week-to-week," according to The Athletic's Joe Person.McCaffrey "has a realistic chance" to return next week against the Detroit Lions after receiving a second opinion on the ailment, sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The star running back injured his shoulder during the Panthers' Week 9 contest against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ravens back in intensive protocol after player tests positive
The Baltimore Ravens are again in the NFL's intensive COVID-19 protocol after a player tested positive Thursday morning, the team announced."There were no high-risk contacts, and no other player or staff member is required to isolate," the Ravens said in a statement. "We will continue to work closely with the NFL, our team doctors, and trainers, and will follow their guidance."Baltimore was in the protocol following cornerback Marlon Humphrey's positive test on Nov. 2, a day after the club lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran missed one game and the Ravens placed a host of fellow defenders on the reserve list after doing contact tracing.Humphrey was cleared to return for Week 10 on Wednesday, and he's expected to play Sunday night against the New England Patriots. The Ravens are 6-2 and currently sit in one of the AFC's wild-card spots.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL MVP rankings: Wilson has no margin for error
Nine weeks of the 2020 NFL campaign are in the books, and the Most Valuable Player award debate is heating up.Quarterbacks continue to dominate the list, but multiple running backs have bolstered their case entering the second half of the schedule.5. Derrick Henry Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyThe 6-2 Tennessee Titans might not even be .500 if they had any other running back. The team's system is made for the power back, and it plays its best football when Henry is running well. There may not be another franchise that depends more on the success of a single player.Tennessee is 13-1 during the regular season when Henry runs for at least 100 yards, with the only loss coming to the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks ago. He leads the league in touches and is second in rushing yards through the first nine weeks.Henry is undisputedly the main reason the Titans - whose defense has been relatively underwhelming in 2020 - sit first in the AFC South. Opposing teams know Tennessee will give the ball to Henry, but there's little they can do to stop the 6-foot-3, 247-pounder.4. Alvin Kamara Mike Ehrmann / Getty Images Sport / GettyThe New Orleans Saints' defense has regressed, wide receiver Michael Thomas barely played during the first half of the season, and Drew Brees is steadily declining at the age of 41. Yet, the team is 6-2 and in the driver's seat for the top seed in the NFC.It's hard to imagine the Saints being in this position without Kamara, who's the driving force behind Sean Payton's offense. The do-it-all back leads the NFL with 1,036 scrimmage yards, and he's flirting with becoming just the fourth player ever to record 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same campaign. The three-time Pro Bowler has also already scored eight times in 2020.New Orleans is allowing 25 points per game (14th-ranked defense in the NFL) even after its impressive showing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but its offense - the league's fourth-best scoring unit - compensates for those struggles with over 30 points per contest.3. Patrick Mahomes David Eulitt / Getty Images Sport / GettyMahomes has been magnificent this season, and his jaw-dropping numbers are diminished only by his already-unprecedented NFL resume. The bar is simply sky-high for Mahomes. The reigning Super Bowl MVP and 2018 regular-season MVP has 25 passing touchdowns to just one interception - a pick in only 0.3% of his attempts - for the best ratio among starting quarterbacks. It's worth noting, however, that Kansas City's offense hasn't fired on all cylinders in every game this season, as there have been weeks when the defense carried the team to relatively unimpressive wins. And though that may seem minor, it's a necessary distinction when trying to separate the MVP front-runners.2. Aaron Rodgers Michael Zagaris / Getty Images Sport / GettyMany wrote off Rodgers as an MVP candidate at this stage in his career, but the star signal-caller is having one of his best campaigns. The veteran is keeping the Green Bay Packers among the NFC's top teams despite an unimpressive defense and injuries to his supporting cast. After tossing 25 and 26 touchdowns in 2018 and 2019, respectively, Rodgers already has 24, the third-most in the NFL, and he leads the league with a 117.5 passer rating. The latter is in line with those of his previous MVP seasons.Year Record Comp. % Yds per game TD INT Rate201114-168.3309.5456122.5201412-465.6273.8385112.22020 (8 games)6-267.5281.6242117.5Even with Rodgers' awful performance against the Buccaneers in Week 6, he still has the second-fewest turnovers among starting quarterbacks, trailing only Mahomes.Rodgers has been phenomenal, but one other player has simply been more impressive.1. Russell WilsonThe Seattle Seahawks have transitioned from defensive stalwarts to high-flying offensive juggernauts, and it's possible only because of Wilson.Opposing quarterbacks are on pace to finish the season with a combined 5,960 passing yards against Seattle, which would be the most in NFL history. Six of the seven clubs with this year's worst scoring defenses have a losing record. The lone other team is Wilson's 6-2 Seahawks, who sit in first in the NFC West. His 28 touchdowns put him on pace to break Peyton Manning's all-time single-season record of 55. The only three quarterbacks to ever toss at least 50 scores in a year all took home the MVP award during those campaigns. Abbie Parr / Getty Images Sport / GettyThe Seahawks own the league's highest-scoring offensive unit and have scored a touchdown in 86.2% of their red-zone opportunities, including a perfect rate at home.Wilson has thrown more interceptions (eight) than Rodgers (two) and Mahomes (one) and turned the ball over seven times in the last three games, but no player has carried his team on his back quite like the Seahawks quarterback has.Honorable mentionJosh Allen: After putting up MVP-caliber performances over the first month of the season, Allen has been inconsistent. But the Buffalo Bills quarterback, who's coming off an impressive signature win over the Seahawks, remains the most valuable player on one of football's most competitive teams.Aaron Donald: Donald may be the league's best player, and his importance to the Los Angeles Rams is constantly on full display. The future Hall of Famer leads the NFL with nine sacks and is one of the Defensive Player of the Year front-runners.Dalvin Cook: Cook leads the NFL in rushing yards, touchdowns, and first downs despite playing in just seven games. Many believed the Minnesota Vikings would collapse after a rough start to the campaign, but the running back's incredible recent performances - 478 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns in the last two games - have the team dreaming of a possible playoff push.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Browns' Chubb 'not sure' he'll be cleared to play vs. Texans
Despite returning to practice this week, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is uncertain about his availability for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans."I'm not sure," Chubb said Wednesday when asked about the possibility of being active against Houston, according to Grant Gordon of NFL.com. "There is still a lot more to it than me just feeling good. I have to go through doctors, team athletic trainers, and coaches. It is more than just me saying I feel great."Chubb has missed four games with an MCL sprain suffered during Cleveland's Week 4 win against the Dallas Cowboys. The Browns designated him to return from injured reserve Monday, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that day that Cleveland was "very hopeful" Chubb would play in Week 10.The 24-year-old Georgia product has rushed for 335 yards and four touchdowns in four appearances this season. Kareem Hunt has become the focal point of the Browns' run game in Chubb's absence.Chubb tallied 1,494 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging five yards per carry in 2019.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Report: David Johnson unlikely to face Browns
Houston Texans running back David Johnson isn't expected to play against the Cleveland Browns in Week 10, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Johnson was forced out of last Sunday's game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a concussion and didn't practice Wednesday.Texans interim head coach Romeo Crennel said the 28-year-old's status for Sunday remains "up in the air."Johnson currently leads the Texans with 408 yards and three touchdowns on the ground through eight games. He's also caught 16 passes for 161 yards and one score. If Johnson is sidelined Sunday, Duke Johnson would likely carry the load at running back for the 2-6 Texans. He's racked up just 95 rushing yards and one touchdown through six appearances in 2020.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Bengals claim McKinley off waivers
The Cincinnati Bengals claimed defensive end Takk McKinley off waivers, the team announced Wednesday. With a 2-5-1 record, the Bengals were eighth in line to make a claim on any player released Tuesday. The Atlanta Falcons released the 2017 first-round pick after McKinley shared on social media that he had asked the team for a trade and was unhappy when the deadline passed without a deal.Falcons interim head coach Raheem Morris said the club needed to determine whether McKinley could return to the team after his public criticisms. The 25-year-old is in his fourth season and has recorded 17.5 career sacks. The Bengals are tied for 25th in sacks with 11. Defensive end Carl Lawson leads the team with 3.5 sacks, and no other Bengal has notched more than one.Cincinnati traded veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 29 for center B.J. Colts-Titans betting trends and player props
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. Two of the best teams in the league face off Thursday as the Titans (-2, 48.5) host the Colts with first place in the AFC South on the line. Here are our favorite trends, props, and bets for Thursday night.Betting trendsThe Titans are narrow favorites in Thursday's contest, but it's been all Colts in the series between these divisional foes. Indianapolis has gone 12-5 against the spread since late 2011 and 3-1 ATS since the start of 2018.This is also a solid spot for the Colts' coach and quarterback. Frank Reich is 8-5-1 ATS in his career in divisional games, while Philip Rivers is 8-3 ATS in Thursday games with a 7-4 record to the under. Ryan Tannehill is 2-3 ATS on Thursday with a 5-0 under record. One of the best bets for years used to be fading road 'dogs on Thursday night, but oddsmakers have seemingly adjusted. Since 2019, teams in that spot are 10-5 ATS with six outright wins and a four-game ATS win streak. This game also features one of the most profitable spots to bet in the entire NFL. Road underdogs catching two or fewer points are 38-14 ATS since 2017 with a stellar 9-2 ATS record this year. When the market tells you the road team is better on a neutral field, pay attention.Player propsJordan Wilkins over 31.5 rushing yards (-110)Wilkins may not be the most talented player in the Colts' backfield, but he's the one his coaches can trust. After Jonathan Taylor's lethargic first-half showing in Week 8, Wilkins earned 14 carries to Taylor's one in the second half. A week later, Wilkins outsnapped Taylor and nearly doubled his workload, including a 9-1 advantage in carries after the rookie's first-quarter fumble. The third-year back has been productive with those rushes, too, gaining 89 yards against the Lions and 39 yards against a stout Ravens defense. The Titans have been pedestrian against the run this year, so if Wilkins gets another opportunity, he'll seize it.A.J. Brown to score a touchdown (+110)Brown is becoming one of the game's best receivers before our eyes, and opposing defenses can't keep him out of the end zone. The second-year wideout scored six touchdowns in the last five games and has scored at least once in eight of his last 10 games in the regular season. The Colts' defense has been strong across the board this year, but it's had some issues containing top-end physical receivers. If the Titans struggle to get the run game going, expect plenty of opportunities for Brown, who's always a threat to break one loose in open space.Best betColts +2I've been riding the Colts all year long, and this is an ideal bounce-back spot with compelling value as an underdog. Indianapolis' defense has been elite all season, and the offense seemed to be putting things together before it encountered the Ravens' vaunted D. Expect a better showing against the Titans, who could struggle to find their footing against the Colts' rush defense.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Report: Texans fire VP of communications Amy Palcic
The Houston Texans have reportedly fired vice president of communications Amy Palcic for no longer being "a cultural fit," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.Palcic was the first and only woman to have full public relations duties for an NFL team and won the Rozelle Award for best PR staff in 2017.The firing was just the latest in a series of changes in Houston's front office. The Texans fired general manager Brian Gaine in 2019 and then relieved Bill O'Brien - who was serving as head coach and general manager - of his duties earlier this season.Houston's executive vice president Jack Easterby - who also serves as interim general manager - will reportedly play a significant role in filling the front office positions.
NFL approves contingency plan for playoffs, minority hire rewards
NFL owners unanimously approved a proposal to add one playoff team to each conference if meaningful regular-season games are canceled due to COVID-19 issues, commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The arrangement would not involve reseeding teams in the postseason.Under the new CBA signed in the offseason, the league added two teams to its postseason - one per conference - expanding the playoff field from 12 to 14 clubs. The NFL has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases across the league recently and has reportedly discussed expanding the regular season by a week in order to combat the outbreak. On Tuesday, owners also approved a proposal to reward teams for developing minority coaches and front-office executives who become head coaches or general managers elsewhere, according to Pelissero. The proposal now needs to be approved by the NFLPA.Clubs would be awarded third-round compensatory picks in the following two drafts if a minority candidate is hired as a head coach or general manager, per Albert Breer of The MMQB.Earlier this year, the NFL made Rooney Rule enhancements requiring teams to interview at least two external minority candidates for head coaching jobs, one minority candidate for any coordinator vacancies, and one external minority candidate for senior football operations or general manager positions. The Rooney Rule was established in 2003 and originally mandated that every team must interview at least one minority candidate for a head coaching or general manager vacancy before making a hire.As of November 2020, the NFL has five minority head coaches and two minority GMs.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Ravens' Humphrey activated from COVID-19 list ahead of SNF vs. Patriots
The Baltimore Ravens have activated cornerback Marlon Humphrey from the COVID-19 list, the team announced Wednesday.Humphrey missed one game after being placed in the reserve group but the cornerback will be available to play Sunday against the New England Patriots. The defender tested positive following Baltimore's Week 8 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.Humphrey's return is a big boost for an injury-riddled Ravens secondary. Four Baltimore cornerbacks are currently on IR, including Anthony Averett and Tavon Young. The 24-year-old is in the midst of another productive season, tallying one interception and a league-leading four forced fumbles.Humphrey has recorded at least one interception in each season since being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Alabama product signed a five-year, $97.5-million extension with the Ravens earlier this campaign.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL Power Rankings - Week 10: Every team's most important remaining game
The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. With eight weeks left in the season, we identify the biggest game left on every team's schedule.1. Kansas City Chiefs (8-1) David Eulitt / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 2Week 11 at Raiders: The Chiefs have upcoming road games against the Saints and Bucs remaining, but a post-bye meeting with Vegas is their most crucial. Getting revenge over the Raiders is an important step in Kansas City's hunt for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.2. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-0)Previous Rank: 1Week 12 vs. Ravens: It doesn't get any better than Steelers-Ravens. A perfect record, first-round bye, and the division title are among the things potentially on the line in two weeks.3. New Orleans Saints (6-2)Previous Rank: 9Week 14 at Eagles: The most difficult stretch of games on New Orleans' schedule is over, so a late-season victory over an Eagles team with a lot to play for would give Sean Payton's squad the edge in the race for the NFC's top seed.4. Baltimore Ravens (6-2)Previous Rank: 5Week 12 at Steelers: This one's fairly obvious. Baltimore appears locked into a playoff spot regardless, but a rematch with Pittsburgh could also impact the AFC North race. Few remaining games for any franchise have greater postseason ramifications.5. Green Bay Packers (6-2) Stacy Revere / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 6Week 17 at Bears: The battle for the NFC's No. 1 record is likely to come down to the wire, and a victory in the final week over their bitter rivals would put the Packers in a good spot.6. Buffalo Bills (7-2)Previous Rank: 8Week 17 vs. Dolphins: Sorry, Bills Mafia, but your club doesn't appear likely to catch Pittsburgh or Kansas City for the AFC's top two seeds. Fear not, as a win over the streaking Dolphins in the season finale would likely clinch Buffalo's first division title since 1995.7. Seattle Seahawks (6-2)Previous Rank: 3Week 11 vs. Cardinals: Seattle's second-half schedule doesn't appear particularly frightening, so a rebound win over the Cardinals would go a long way in a fight for the NFC West crown and the conference's No. 1 seed.8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3)Previous Rank: 4Week 11 vs. Rams: The NFC's fifth seed is a coveted spot this year, as the holder receives a date with the NFC East champion. It's a winnable playoff game, to say the least, and a victory over the Rams would likely see Tampa emerge as the favorites for the matchup.9. Tennessee Titans (6-2) Frederick Breedon / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 10Week 12 at Colts: It's fairly simple for Mike Vrabel. Only Tennessee and the Colts are in contention for the AFC South crown with eight weeks to go, and a road win over the division rival would go a long way in solidifying its current spot.10. Miami Dolphins (5-3)Previous Rank: 15Week 16 at Raiders: Miami stands a legitimate chance of staying hot with upcoming matchups against the Chargers, Broncos, Jets, and Bengals. However, with a number of clubs in the playoff hunt, more than just playoff seeding could be on the line versus the Raiders.11. Arizona Cardinals (5-3)Previous Rank: 7Week 11 at Seahawks: While a handful of NFC clubs have wild-card aspirations, Kyler Murray and Arizona can dream bigger. A win over Seattle next Thursday - remember, they already have one from Week 7 - would put the Cardinals in excellent position to capture the NFC West title with winnable matchups down the stretch.12. Las Vegas Raiders (5-3)Previous Rank: 12Week 16 vs. Dolphins: The AFC playoff race is as competitive as it's been in recent years, so Vegas' season may be on the line in this pivotal late-season meeting. Jon Gruden versus Brian Flores will be fun to watch, too.13. Indianapolis Colts (5-3) Andy Lyons / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 11Week 12 vs. Titans: Either game against the Titans can be listed here, but the AFC South front-runner will likely be decided in the latter of the two matchups. A pivotal home game in January is up for grabs.14. Los Angeles Rams (5-3)Previous Rank: 13Week 13 at Cardinals: It's no secret the NFC West features three strong teams with playoff aspirations, so the Rams have a tough second half incoming. However, Sean McVay's meeting with Kliff Kingsbury in three weeks has serious postseason ramifications.15. Cleveland Browns (5-3)Previous Rank: 16Week 13 at Titans: Currently sitting just outside the postseason bubble, the Browns' tilt against Tennessee represents both their toughest game outside the division and a meeting with another franchise fighting for its playoff life.16. San Francisco 49ers (4-5)Previous Rank: 14Week 10 at Saints: Plagued with injuries but not quite bad enough to compete for a high draft slot, the Niners have one more matchup before their bye. After that, a handful of players could return for the stretch run.17. Chicago Bears (5-4) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 17Week 12 at Packers: Sure, Chicago's upcoming game against the Vikings feels like a must-win before a Week 11 bye, but this rivalry showdown will be just as crucial. Lose, and Matt Nagy can likely kiss playoff hopes - and his job - goodbye.18. Carolina Panthers (3-6)Previous Rank: 20Week 10 vs. Buccaneers: Sunday represents a crucial day for first-year head coach Matt Rhule. The Panthers have looked solid despite a four-game losing streak, and a contest against a reeling Bucs squad could be just what the doctor ordered to get back on track.19. Minnesota Vikings (3-5)Previous Rank: 22Week 14 at Buccaneers: Don't look now, but the Vikings aren't out of the playoff hunt just yet. Winnable games versus Chicago, Dallas, Carolina, and Jacksonville are up next, leaving the late-season tilt with Tampa Bay an important one.20. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4-1)Previous Rank: 19Week 17 vs. Washington: Philadelphia is currently in first place in the NFC East, but hiccups are sure to come with matchups against the Saints, Seahawks, and Packers remaining. This bizarre division is likely to be decided in the final week.21. New England Patriots (3-5) Boston Globe / Boston Globe / GettyPrevious Rank: 21Week 10 vs. Ravens: Bill Belichick must begin stringing together wins if the Patriots are going to make a run at the postseason. This matchup will determine which direction New England is headed. It's also fitting that Belichick's most important game remaining is his next one.22. Atlanta Falcons (3-6)Previous Rank: 28Week 11 at Saints: Are the Falcons truly gunning for a playoff spot amid a brief winning streak, or should this team focus on earning as high a draft pick as possible? We'll find out after this week's bye.23. Cincinnati Bengals (2-5-1)Previous Rank: 25Week 10 at Steelers: The Bengals are in a good spot coming off a bye and a win over the Titans the week prior. Joe Burrow leads an exciting turnaround in Cincinnati, and his play Sunday against the Steelers may determine how high his ceiling is.24. Denver Broncos (3-5)Previous Rank: 18Week 16 at Chargers: Vic Fangio may be on the hot seat. The Broncos' end-of-season slate looks brutal, and a loss to the Chargers could force John Elway to head in another direction.25. Detroit Lions (3-5) Hannah Foslien / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 23Week 17 vs. Vikings: A season finale against the Vikings will have ramifications impacting Detroit's draft positioning and Matt Patricia's job security.26. Houston Texans (2-6)Previous Rank: 26Week 16 vs. Bengals: Sorry, Texans fans, but your club has very little to play for as 2020 winds down. Without a first- or second-round pick, Houston will try to string together victories to justify its offseason moves. The simplest matchup on paper comes at home to Cincinnati.27. Los Angeles Chargers (2-6)Previous Rank: 27Week 10 at Dolphins: This week's contest is crucial on a number of levels. The Chargers are losers in six of their last seven games, and as a result, Anthony Lynn's fate as head coach could be decided against Miami - even if he isn't immediately fired. We'd also love to see how Justin Herbert fares versus one of the league's premier defenses.28. New York Giants (2-7)Previous Rank: 30Week 10 vs. Eagles: Amazingly, the Giants still have life. Unlike the other teams in the NFL's worst division, we'll know exactly where New York stands after this Sunday. You can all but count out Joe Judge's squad if it suffers a second loss to Philly.29. Washington Football Team (2-6) Greg Fiume / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 24Week 17 at Eagles: Let's be honest - games outside the NFC East matter little for Washington. Philadelphia has a tough remaining schedule, so the division crown will likely be be up for grabs in the season's final week.30. Dallas Cowboys (2-7)Previous Rank: 29Week 16 vs. Eagles: Despite their recent (humiliating) struggles, the Cowboys aren't out of the NFC East race just yet with Andy Dalton set to return sooner rather than later. However, a loss against the rival Eagles would officially close the book on a disastrous campaign.31. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7)Previous Rank: 31Week 17 at Colts: Jacksonville appears to be the only legitimate threat to the Jets for next year's No. 1 overall pick. Even if New York clinches the spot, the Jaguars can lock up the second selection with a road loss to Indy.32. New York Jets (0-9)Previous Rank: 32Week 16 vs. Browns: With the Dolphins, Raiders, Seahawks, and Rams featuring on New York's late-season schedule, Adam Gase's squad (well, until he gets fired) could lock up the first overall pick by Week 16. Trevor Lawrence is within reach, so losing has never been more important.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
49ers' Sherman could return in Week 10 vs. Saints
Cornerback Richard Sherman is close to returning from a calf injury after missing all but one game for the San Francisco 49ers this season. The former All-Pro said he is working hard to potentially return this weekend, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic. The Niners will host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Sherman also indicated the possibility of a "worst-case scenario" that would see him return following San Francisco's Week 11 bye against the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers designated Sherman for return on Monday. San Francisco now has a 21-day window where the corner can practice with the team before deciding to activate him or not.In his absence, cornerback Jason Verrett has stepped up to fill the void.Over the course of 10 seasons in the league, Sherman has compiled 35 interceptions, 114 passes defended, and five forced fumbles.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Belichick: Resigning from Jets is 'one of the great moments of my career'
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has won everything possible as an NFL head coach and coordinator, but the list of his greatest moments isn't limited to just wins and rings.Belichick was set to become head coach of the New York Jets before joining the Patriots in 2000, but he surprisingly resigned from the role. The future Hall of Famer described that decision as one of the top moments of his football journey 20 years later."One of the - not only most defining - but one of the great moments of my career," Belichick said Tuesday of his Jets resignation on WEEI. "That combined with (Patriots owner) Robert (Kraft) giving me the opportunity to come here, I couldn't have asked for anything more. That wasn't a good situation for me, and I didn't want to be part of it, so I wasn't."Belichick left the Jets before coaching a game with the club. He worked as New York's defensive coordinator under Bill Parcells from 1997 to 1999 and was set to replace the head coach after the 1999 campaign. However, Belichick turned his introductory press conference into a goodbye presser. At the time, Belichick said he made his decision "due to the various uncertainties surrounding my position as it relates to the team's new ownership."The Patriots then sent a first-round pick to New York for the right to hire Belichick. In 20-plus seasons in New England, Belichick's team has made nine Super Bowl appearances, winning the title six times. The three-time Coach of the Year ranks third all time with 307 career wins (including playoffs).Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Should bettors buy into Steelers' 8-0 start?
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Through the first half of the NFL season, only one team is still undefeated, and that club is starting to draw some serious respect in the Super Bowl market. The Steelers are 8-0 for the first time in franchise history, besting undefeated starts from Pittsburgh's Super Bowl-winning teams in 1978 and 1979. After Sunday's narrow win over the Cowboys, Pittsburgh is +600 to win the Super Bowl and +300 to take the AFC - trailing only the Chiefs (+350, +175) in both markets. However, last week's sloppy showing highlighted some potential concerns for those backing Pittsburgh in the futures market. Should bettors buy into this team's undefeated start, even at short odds?Don't inflate an undefeated startAnyone betting on a team that starts 8-0 should feel good about that squad's long-term outlook, and the Steelers are no exception. They've already earned impressive wins over the Titans (6-2) and Ravens (6-2), and their schedule is relatively light over the next eight weeks. Still, a hot start doesn't always portend a profitable finish.Over the last 30 years, 20 teams have begun a season with an 8-0 record, with five winning the Super Bowl, while another five were the runner-up. But of the last nine teams to start 8-0, none won it all, and three lost in the Super Bowl. Those numbers can inspire optimism from an implied odds perspective, but the outcomes are far from an endorsement for blindly backing 8-0 clubs.Things get even shakier when betting on the last undefeated team in any season. Since the Colts won the Super Bowl in 2006 following a 9-0 start, the last 18 teams to start the hottest in a campaign failed to secure a championship. In fact, Indianapolis is the only team this century to win the title as the last undefeated squad. The other teams failed over 25 attempts, logging an 0-9 Super Bowl record.Since the merger, 12 of 74 teams (16.2%) to open with the league's best record ended the year hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. As impressive as Pittsburgh's start has been, it doesn't increase the chances of a Super Bowl victory.Offense wins championshipsFor years, defense was the calling card for eventual Super Bowl champions. That simply isn't true anymore, and the data paints a grim picture for this year's early front-runner.In 2008, the Steelers won the Super Bowl with the top-ranked defense and 21st-ranked offense by DVOA. Since then, 20 of the last 22 Super Bowl participants have fielded a top-seven offense in DVOA. As for the outliers, the 2015 Broncos (24th in offensive DVOA) boasted one of the best defenses ever, and the 2012 Ravens (13th) rode Joe Flacco's playoff performance that was among the best in NFL history, rivaling Joe Montana's 1990 postseason. The average offensive DVOA rank for those teams was 5.7, and the average defensive DVOA rank was 11.9. Only nine of those 22 clubs benefitted from a top-10 defense, while two (the 2011 Patriots and 2017 Patriots) finished with a defense in the bottom three. Defense simply doesn't matter as much as offense in the modern NFL when it comes to title contention. The Steelers have put together the league's fifth-best scoring offense (29.4 points per game) through nine weeks, though they're 25th in yards per play (5.2) and 24th in first downs per game (21). Their defense is among the NFL's best, while their offense ranks 15th in DVOA and 25th in PFF team grades, sporting a below-average offensive grade in all nine weeks thus far. That suggests a capped ceiling for Pittsburgh's offense, which would be a death knell for its title hopes.Questions remain with SteelersPittsburgh isn't necessarily a bad bet in the futures market. Its defense is a key reason for the team's early-season success, and there are weapons available to improve the Steelers' offense. But there's still work for them to do on that side of the ball to justify their short title price, and history doesn't give the Steelers the benefit of the doubt just because of their 8-0 start.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Fantasy: Waiver Wire - Week 10
Find positional rankings, additional analysis, and subscribe to push notifications in the NFL Fantasy News section.Every Monday during the season, theScore's Justin Boone runs down the recommended waiver wire pickups.Rostered percentages are based on Yahoo leagues. Free Agent Budget (FAB) amounts are set off a $100 salary cap. Only players rostered in less than 60% of leagues are considered.Quarterbacks Harry How / Getty Images Sport / GettyDerek Carr, RaidersNext UpRosteredFABvs. DEN42%$1Carr has been a solid fantasy producer this season, with four top-16 fantasy finishes over his last seven outings.Week 10 offers a chance at a ceiling game for the Raiders' QB as he takes on a Broncos defense that allowed 278 yards and three touchdowns to Justin Herbert and 284 yards and three scores to Matt Ryan over the past two games.Carr, who racked up 650 total passing yards in his two meetings with the Broncos last season, is a strong streaming option this week.Drew Lock, BroncosNext UpRosteredFABat LV20%$1Carr's opponent is also worth a look as a potential bye-week replacement. After throwing for 248 yards and three touchdowns against the Chargers in Week 8, Lock delivered his best performance of the season in Week 9 with 313 passing yards, two scores through the air, 47 rushing yards, and another trip to the end zone with his legs. The Raiders are one of the 10 best matchups for opposing passers and have given up multiple passing touchdowns in four of their last five contests. You can feel confident using Lock for one more week.Streamer options: Baker Mayfield vs. HOU (33% rostered), Tua Tagovailoa vs. LAC (24% rostered), Philip Rivers at TEN (21% rostered), Teddy Bridgewater vs. TB (41% rostered), Daniel Jones vs. PHI (30% rostered), Nick Foles vs. MIN (10% rostered), Kirk Cousins at CHI (31% rostered)Running backs Tim Warner / Getty Images Sport / GettyDuke Johnson, TexansNext UpRosteredFABat CLE16%$14David Johnson is in the concussion protocol, putting his status for Week 10 in doubt. With David leaving early on Sunday, Duke stepped into a workhorse role, playing over 81% of snaps while amassing 73 yards from scrimmage and a score against the Jaguars.Though the Browns aren't the easiest front to run on, Duke can be treated like a low-end RB2 in fantasy if David remains sidelined.Ryan Nall, BearsNext UpRosteredFABvs. MIN0%$12Nall could find himself in a similar position to Duke Johnson this week, with starter David Montgomery also in the concussion protocol. After Montgomery's departure, the 6-foot-2, 239-pound Nall didn't get a carry but caught four passes for 35 yards and a touchdown with the Bears in comeback mode. The only danger here is that Chicago has Lamar Miller (0% rostered) on its practice squad and if he's activated, it's possible the team works the veteran into the mix. Cordarrelle Patterson will also factor in with a few touches of his own.If Nall does get the start, he'll be a high-end RB3 with RB2 upside. But Miller could complicate things, turning them both into risky flex plays.Cam Akers/Malcolm Brown, RamsNext UpRosteredFABvs. SEA30%/24%$9/$7Though the reports about Darrell Henderson have been optimistic about his chances of playing in Week 10, it's worth noting he was forced from the Rams' last game after reaggravating his thigh injury. As we saw with Mark Ingram and the Ravens, the running back's injury was downplayed heading into their bye week, but when the team returned to practice, Ingram wasn't able to take the field. He's now missed two straight games. While it's not the same situation, the possibility Henderson is more hurt than we realize gives us enough reason to scoop up Akers and Brown. If Week 8 was any indication, the Rams would use Akers as the lead ball carrier with Brown being the more trusted option on passing downs. That would make Akers a potential low-end RB2 if Henderson misses time, while Brown continues in his role as an RB3/flex.Mike Davis, Giovani Bernard, DeeJay Dallas, Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray, and Jamaal Williams are around the 60% rostered mark and should be rostered in almost all leagues.High-upside backups Tony Pollard (34% rostered), Alexander Mattison (37% rostered), Boston Scott (44% rostered), and Brian Hill (13% rostered) should be rostered in most leagues.Flex options: Matt Breida vs. LAC (25% rostered), DeAndre Washington vs. LAC (2% rostered), Gus Edwards at NE (37% rostered), Jordan Wilkins at TEN (25% rostered), La'Mical Perine on Bye (36% rostered), J.D. Even with Adams commanding a massive target share, Lazard could still emerge as a WR3 in fantasy down the stretch.Tim Patrick, BroncosNext UpRosteredFABat LV21%$14Patrick makes yet another appearance on this list because he's still available in 79% of leagues.Perhaps that's due to the recent injury that kept him out of Week 8, but Patrick returned on Sunday. He may have only come away with 29 yards in the game, but his peripheral numbers are much more encouraging. The 26-year-old played 60 snaps - just one less than Jerry Jeudy, who led the Broncos' receiving corps. Patrick also saw nine targets on the day. And he now has over 100 yards and/or a touchdown in four of his last five contests.Though the public hasn't recognized it yet, Patrick is a player who deserves to be in fantasy lineups as a WR3/WR4.Jalen Reagor, EaglesNext UpRosteredFABat NYG24%$14Reagor is flying under the radar after spending most of the season on injured reserve. NFL Week 10 survivor picks: Jags, Luton to lose at Lambeau
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section.Nothing came easy in Week 9 after a few straightforward weeks. All three of my suggested picks induced more than a mild sweat - the Texans denied a late, game-tying two-point conversion to survive while the Steelers and Patriots both erased double-digit fourth-quarter deficits.I conceded defeat at multiple points over the last few days - things were bleak and I had little faith in a Pittsburgh or New England comeback. But I lived to tell the tale and, assuming you followed this column's advice, you did too.It wasn't a big week for eliminations with only the Cardinals, and perhaps Washington, helping our cause. In all likelihood, you are into the final 15-20% of your pool like I am, but as magical as this season has been for us, it's hardly the time for celebration. There's a long way to go and the closer we get, the more we want it.Week 10 confidence rankingConfidence rankings (CR) are out of 10 based on the author's picks:AWAYHOME (SPREAD)PICK (CR)JacksonvilleGreen Bay (-14)GB (9)BaltimoreNew England (+7)BAL (6)Tampa BayCarolina (+5.5)TB (5)CincinnatiPittsburgh (-8)PIT (5)San FranciscoNew Orleans (-9)NO (5)HoustonCleveland (-3)CLE (4)LA ChargersMiami (-3)MIA (4)BuffaloArizona (-1)ARI (4)IndianapolisTennessee (-2.5)TEN (3)DenverLas Vegas (-5)LV (2)SeattleLA Rams (-2)SEA (1)WashingtonDetroit (N/A)DET (1)PhiladelphiaNY Giants (+3.5)NYG (1)MinnesotaChicago (+3)CHI (1)(Odds source: theScore Bet)Author's pick: Green Bay PackersIf you've been following along every week you still have the Packers available for selection, which is proving quite clutch in a tricky Week 10 slate. Green Bay is one of the only picks on the slate truly inspiring a bit of confidence as the squad returns to Lambeau for a few extra days to prepare for rookie quarterback Jake Luton.Luton was a cover machine during his final season at Oregon State and led the Beavers to an 8-3 record against the spread, with two of those losses coming by a single point. He conjured up more magic to produce a backdoor cover against Houston in his debut but came up short in the win department, which has been a common theme for the Washington native. Despite his heroics against the spread, Luton was just 7-14 straight up as a starter in three years with the Beavers. The 24-year-old flashed potential in his first NFL start and while it is possible to cover the large 14-point spread in Week 10, it'd be shocking if he left Lambeau with an outright win. It's one thing to find success at home against a miserable Texans defense, but another to do it in your first-ever road start while at Lambeau Field against a much stronger opponent. The Packers forced Nick Mullens into a pair of turnovers on Thursday night and you can expect defensive coordinator Mike Pettine to get creative with his looks in what will be a learning experience for Luton. The offense is expected to endure some growing pains, adding pressure to a Jaguars defense that's simply incapable of carrying the load. Jacksonville has allowed the second-most yards per play in the NFL this season and the second-most through the air, with the unit also ranking 31st in sack percentage and scoring. Aaron Rodgers has the chance to feast with Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and Davante Adams all healthy for the first time since Week 6.The Packers have been favored by at least a touchdown on five separate occasions under Matt LaFleur. They're 5-0 straight up in those games with an average margin of victory of 10.8 points. If you're still unsure, Rodgers has never lost a start in his NFL career when the Packers are favored by at least two touchdowns.Avoid: Pittsburgh SteelersIt feels more and more like the Steelers are due for a bad loss with each passing week. Full credit goes to Mike Tomlin and this team for knowing how to win football games, but there have been plenty of unconvincing results throughout this impressive 8-0 start.Pittsburgh required late comebacks to beat the lowly Cowboys and Texans. The club barely survived against the Broncos. A last-second missed field goal helped them get past the Titans. And Lamar Jackson's careless football-handling gifted them a win against the Ravens. This doesn't mean the Steelers are simply lucky - this squad is very strong - but they're far from the invincibility their record indicates and at one point the other shoe is going to drop.Whether or not this is the week remains to be seen, but these Bengals are live 'dogs with Joe Burrow under center. Burrow and the Bengals sit at 2-5-1 through the first half of his rookie season, but they're an impressive 6-1-1 against the spread. They put up a fight week in, week out. Four of their five losses this season have been by five points or less and they match up well against this Pittsburgh defense, which Cincinnati has had an extra week to prepare for coming out of the bye.The way to beat the Steelers is through the air. Daniel Jones, Jeff Driskel, and Garrett Gilbert all threw for at least 240 yards against this defensive unit with five total touchdowns. Similarly, Deshaun Watson, Carson Wentz, and Ryan Tannehill each threw for a pair of scores against this defense. Offenses can attack Pittsburgh's secondary and Burrow has both the weapons and the swagger required to do so.Add in the fact that Ben Roethlisberger - who the team just placed on the COVID-19 list, along with three other teammates - is hobbled after suffering a knee injury against the Cowboys and this game is rife with upset potential. Steelers place Roethlisberger, 3 others on COVID-19 list
The Pittsburgh Steelers placed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on the COVID-19 list, the team announced Tuesday.Jaylen Samuels, Jerald Hawkins, and Vince Williams were also added to the reserve group.Roethlisberger has reportedly been deemed a high-risk close contact, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The signal-caller can't practice and has to isolate for five days, but he can play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals if he tests negative throughout the week.Head coach Mike Tomlin isn't worried about the prospect of Roethlisberger starting without any practice reps due to the quarterback's experience."I'm not overly concerned about it. This guy has been doing his job for 17 years," Tomlin told the media Tuesday, according to Chris Adamski of the Tribune-Review.Pittsburgh will likely turn to Mason Rudolph to fill in under center if Roethlisberger can't play Sunday. The team also has Josh Dobbs and Devlin Hodges as backup options.Roethlisberger, who's reportedly dealing with injuries to both his knees, is permitted to go to the team facility for rehab, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. He must wear appropriate PPE and can only show up to rehabilitate his ailments when there aren't many team personnel members around. The 38-year-old has thrown for 18 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season while leading the Steelers to an undefeated 8-0 start.Pittsburgh also placed Vance McDonald on the COVID-19 list Monday after announcing a player tested positive.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Newton battling neck soreness after punishing hit on MNF
New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton woke up Tuesday with a sore neck after New York Jets safety Ashtyn Davis steamrolled him on Monday Night Football."My neck is only working on a degree angle that shuts off the degrees to one side," he said on WEEI. "My eye muscles are getting a lot of work in today."Newton absorbed the hit in the second quarter, Davis was flagged for unnecessary roughness, and the 15-yard penalty helped the Patriots get a field goal later in the drive. The veteran signal-caller blamed himself for the punishment, saying he held the football for too long."I told Josh (McDaniels) on the sideline like, 'Bro, that's my fault and I deserved it.' But, it got us 15 yards, so it's the price you have to pay," he said.Newton didn't miss a snap and later rallied the Patriots from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to their first victory since Week 3. However, the 31-year-old appeared to take another hard hit while he plunged into the end zone for the game-tying touchdown late in the final frame. The 3-5 Patriots will meet the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 10.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Jones rules out QB from Cowboys' draft plans: 'Dak is our quarterback'
Jerry Jones all but eliminated the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys selecting a quarterback in the first round of the 2021 draft, calling the idea crazy."Yes. You asked me if it's crazy to bring that idea up, and I'm answering you yes," the club's owner said on 105.3 The Fan. "We're playing games here, guys, but it's not the thing to be talking about at all. You know, Dak (Prescott) is our quarterback."Jones received the query in light of the fact his team is off to a 2-7 start and would be in a position to draft third overall if the season ended after Week 9. The 2021 draft is expected to feature two blue-chip quarterback prospects in Clemson's Trevor Lawrence and Ohio State's Justin Fields.Prescott, who's on the franchise tag in 2020, is a free agent at the end of the year. He and the Cowboys failed to strike a long-term agreement before the campaign, and he wound up suffering a season-ending compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in Week 5.Prescott sat second on the passing yards leaderboard last season and led the Cowboys to the league's top-ranked offense. He ranked first in passing this season through the first quarter of the campaign.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Report: Roethlisberger dealing with injuries to both knees
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sustained injuries to both knees during Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.Despite his injuries, there is cautious optimism Roethlisberger will be healthy enough to suit up in Week 10 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. The 38-year-old was visibly in pain after taking a sack late in the second quarter. He was seen limping afterward and exited to the locker room prior to halftime. Mason Rudolph entered the game but Roethlisberger took over at the start of the third quarter. Both of the veteran's knees got trapped on the play, though his feet weren't stuck in the turf, which saved him from a major injury, per Rapoport.Roethlisberger completed 29 of 42 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's victory, helping Pittsburgh move to 8-0.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Steelers place Vance McDonald on reserve/COVID-19 list
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday that an unnamed player has tested positive for COVID-19.The player in question immediately entered self-quarantine, and the team remains in the NFL's intensive protocol, according to the club's release.Pittsburgh placed tight end Vance McDonald on the reserve/COVID-19 list later Monday, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer. The 30-year-old played 24 snaps for the Steelers in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys, catching one pass for 2 yards.
Falcons waive former 1st-round pick McKinley
The Atlanta Falcons waived disgruntled pass-rusher Takk McKinley, the team announced Monday.McKinley, the 26th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, recently said he asked for a trade the past two seasons and took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with the Falcons' failure to find a trade partner at this year's deadline. After McKinley's public criticism, interim head coach Raheem Morris said the Falcons had to figure out "if he can even be on this team."McKinley has appeared in four games this season and missed time with a groin injury. He has just one sack this campaign after racking up 16.5 total sacks in his first three seasons. The 25-year-old was playing in the final year of his rookie contract. The Falcons declined the fifth-year option in his deal prior to the season.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

5 betting takeaways from NFL Week 9
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. If you thought you had a firm idea of the NFL hierarchy after the first half of the season, you may want to take another look following a wild week that saw two top teams lose and an undefeated squad hold on for dear life. Here are five betting takeaways from Week 9.Bills earn statement win over SeahawksDid you forget about the Bills? You'd be forgiven if you did after an uninspiring four-week stretch that included two big losses and a pair of unconvincing wins against weak competition. But all that was in the rearview mirror Sunday, as Josh Allen totaled 429 yards and four touchdowns in his team's 44-34 upset win over the Seahawks (-3), who allowed the most points in the Pete Carroll era.Buffalo's offense has been on fire for a while - the Bills are only the 13th team in NFL history to record at least 20 first downs in each of their first nine games, according to analyst Warren Sharp. The last two teams to do that went to the Super Bowl. We've long said this Buffalo team is the best value in the Super Bowl market, and that remains true at its current price of +2000. Buy, buy, buy.As for the Seahawks? We've been concerned for weeks that their defense would hold them back in their title quest, and it doesn't look like that'll change anytime soon. Seattle's pass defense is simply inept, which is a major problem against teams like the Chiefs and Packers - and, yes, the Bills.Saints embarrass Buccaneers in prime timeIt seemed the Buccaneers (-3) were entering this game with a perfect opportunity to prove themselves better on offense and defense compared to the Saints, who have looked lethargic all season. So much for that. New Orleans poured it on early and often in its 38-3 win over its division rival, reasserting itself as one of the best teams in the NFC.That's been a hard case to make over the last six weeks, a stretch in which the Saints went 1-5 against the spread with two outright losses as favorites and four near-losses. Sunday was different. Michael Thomas was back, but he only caught five passes for 51 yards. Instead, New Orleans showed off its deadly versatility: Three players rushed for at least 35 yards, and 10 players had at least 10 yards receiving. This game likely said more about the Saints' upside than anything about the Buccaneers, who are still 6-3 with four blowout wins and a clear title profile. Their sluggish offense has come back to bite them four times this year, though, and with a narrow path to a divisional crown, their short Super Bowl price (+1000) isn't looking so hot right now.Dolphins continue stellar ATS runJust one week ago, I wrote that the Dolphins were "quickly becoming one of my favorite teams to bet each week." Sure enough, they were one of my best bets this week against the Cardinals (-6). Much of that was because of their defense, which has now forced five fumbles and returned two of them for touchdowns over the last two weeks. This week, though, was mostly about the offense, which teased its potential in Sunday's 34-31 win over Arizona. Tua Tagovailoa bounced back from a shaky debut to post 248 yards and two touchdowns, while the rushing game did just enough in Myles Gaskin's absence to keep the offense on schedule.Don't worry about the Cardinals, who were in this game until the end and were probably a bit overvalued after a flashy win over Seattle. No, this game was about the Dolphins, who are now 6-2 ATS on the year and again undervalued this week against the Chargers (+2.5).Steelers survive scare to stay perfectA win is a win, right? After rolling through their first seven games with relative ease, the Steelers (-14) survived a dart into the end zone as time expired to beat the lowly Cowboys. Pittsburgh is now 8-0 for the first time in franchise history. It wasn't the prettiest performance for the Steelers, who were simply inefficient against a very weak Dallas team. The defense held Garrett Gilbert and Co. to 19 points, which was to be expected. The problem for bettors is that the offense hasn't shown the elite ceiling to justify Pittsburgh's short title price (+550), and Sunday's 24-point showing was more of the same.Offense is still an issue for the Cowboys, though their inspired effort on both sides of the ball helped snap their 0-8 ATS start to the year. Gilbert looked like the team's most competent quarterback since Dak Prescott went down, so perhaps he can breathe some life into Dallas' quest to win the NFC East (+850).Chargers foil bettors once againEven when everything aligns for the Chargers, they still find a way to disappoint. It was a familiar story Sunday when their last-second touchdown was overturned in a 31-26 loss to the Raiders (-1).This came a week after a booth review confirmed a Broncos touchdown as time expired, sealing Los Angeles' third loss this year when leading by at least 17 points. The Chargers never led by that margin this week, but the result was still frustrating for a team that could easily be riding a five-game ATS win streak.Instead, the Bolts are 2-2-1 ATS in that span and 3-3-2 ATS on the year. Next week's tough test against the red-hot Dolphins isn't an ideal matchup, but I'm still generally a buyer on this team's week-to-week price. Luck surely has to swing in their favor eventually ... right?C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Report: McCaffrey facing another absence due to shoulder injury
Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey, who returned from an ankle ailment in Week 9, could miss more time after suffering a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.McCaffrey will undergo tests Monday, but his status for Week 10 "is very much in doubt," added Rapoport. The veteran seemingly suffered the injury late in the 33-31 defeat.
Arians: Buccaneers' confidence not 'shaken one bit' by blowout
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were on the receiving end of a humbling loss on Sunday Night Football, but head coach Bruce Arians doesn't expect it to be too deflating."I don't think our confidence is shaken one bit," Arians said Monday, per The Athletic's Greg Auman.Tampa Bay lost 38-3 to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night, continuing a trend of inconsistent performances in prime time. The Buccaneers lost a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Bears in Week 5 and barely defeated the Giants on Monday night last week.Arians admitted that he will examine the team's preparation after the string of poor showings, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.Sunday night's 35-point loss marked the biggest margin of defeat in Tom Brady's career. He struggled to get anything going against the Saints, finishing with three interceptions, and his connection with receivers Mike Evans and Antonio Brown was also notably faulty. The duo combined for just seven catches and under 100 yards.Arians said Evans is not struggling even though his targets are far below expectations."Mike was open a bunch in that ballgame. He didn't get targeted. That's all. Mike was open," the head coach said. The Buccaneers coach didn't fault Brown for an intercepted pass that was headed in his direction, calling it "just a poor throw," according to Auman. The loss moved Tampa Bay to second in the NFC South with the Saints overtaking the Bucs for the top spot in the division.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. NFL bad line of the week: Fade Cousins, Vikings on MNF
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. Our bad line of the week last Sunday was so close to coming through, but the Houston Texans coughed up a late, double-digit lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Here are the spreads for Week 10, as well as the one we think bettors can exploit.Matchup SpreadIND @ TENTitans -1PHI @ NYGEagles -3.5WFT @ DETLions -3.5JAX @ GBPackers -14HOU @ CLEBrowns -3TB @ CARBuccaneers -6.5DEN @ LVRaiders -5BUF @ ARICardinals -1.5LAC @ MIADolphins -2.5SF @ NOSaints -9SEA @ LARRams -1.5CIN @ PITSteelers -8.5BAL @ NERavens -7MIN @ CHIVikings -2.5Bad line of the week: Vikings (-2.5 @ Bears)The Minnesota Vikings are gaining traction for the first time all season. They've won back-to-back games and scored 26-plus points in five of the last six. The Vikings are looking to complete a three-week sweep over the NFC North when they travel to take on the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, but bettors should pump the brakes a bit.Minnesota is quietly the league leader in yards per play (6.6), but it's had an easy path, playing units that currently rank No. 17 (twice), 20, 21, 22, and 29 (twice) in DVOA defense. The only team the Vikings played inside the top half of the league in that category was the Indianapolis Colts (No. 3), and Minnesota lost by 17.The Bears are No. 6 in DVOA defense and have given the Vikings fits lately, particularly running back Dalvin Cook. Chicago dominated the 2020 rushing leader in three previous matchups, holding him to a combined 86 yards on 34 career carries (2.52 yards per carry). On the flip side, Chicago's offense finally has a chance to do something this weekend. Since Nick Foles was thrust into the starting role, the Bears have played three top-10 DVOA defenses, plus another game against the division-leading Tennessee Titans on the road. Minnesota's No. 16-ranked DVOA defense at Soldier Field will be one of the most favorable matchups of the entire year.If that's not enough, all the trends point to one side. This is a nice spot to fade Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, who still doesn't have a win on Monday Night Football (0-9). The veteran is just 8-32 straight-up against winning teams in his career, a trend that applies Monday against the 5-4 Bears. The Vikings have also struggled mightily in this series, going 1-5 against the spread the last six and 3-14 ATS the last 17 at Soldier Field.Chicago, meanwhile, is 13-4-1 ATS the last 18 games as a home underdog and 10-4 ATS the last 14 versus divisional opponents.Play the home team in this prime-time tilt.(Odds source: theScore Bet)Alex Kolodziej is a betting writer for theScore. Report: Washington's Allen set to undergo season-ending ankle surgery
Washington Football Team quarterback Kyle Allen is set to undergo season-ending surgery after suffering an ankle dislocation and fracture Sunday against the New York Giants, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Allen suffered the injury on a hit by Giants safety Jabrill Peppers and was carted off the field.Washington head coach Ron Rivera said Alex Smith will start next week against the Detroit Lions, according to NBC Sports' JP Finlay. The veteran quarterback threw for over 300 yards in relief in Sunday's loss to the Giants but was intercepted three times. Smith has appeared in two games this season and has taken eight sacks.Washington's Week 10 contest will be Smith's first start since he suffered his own serious leg injury in 2018.Dwayne Haskins is expected to be Smith's backup moving forward. A first-round pick in last year's draft, Haskins was benched after just four starts this season. The 23-year-old has tossed four touchdowns to three interceptions in 2020.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Chargers' Lynn: 'We've been kicked in the gut six times'
Anthony Lynn struggled to stomach another crushing defeat Sunday after a replay reversal wiped away a potential victory for his Los Angeles Chargers over the Las Vegas Raiders."We've been kicked in the gut six times," the head coach said following the 31-26 loss, according to Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register. "That's six times too many for me."In Week 8, the Chargers squandered a 21-point lead against the Denver Broncos.Blown leads have plagued the Bolts throughout the first half of the season, with four of their first five losses featuring double-digit meltdowns. All six of their defeats in 2020 have been decided by one possession. In Week 9, Los Angeles found itself with two chances to score a game-winning touchdown from the Raiders' 4-yard line. On the first attempt, Mike Williams couldn't hang on to Justin Herbert's fade in the corner of the end zone. On the second try, Donald Parham initially appeared to come down with the catch. But after a review, officials determined the ball came loose and hit the ground.
Watson: 'It would have been hell' if Texans traded Fuller
Quarterback Deshaun Watson is relieved the Houston Texans didn't trade Will Fuller. After the wideout posted another impressive outing to help Houston snap its two-game losing streak Sunday - just days after his name stole the headlines as a potential trade candidate at the NFL's Tuesday deadline - Watson said it would've been a nightmare if he didn't have his top pass-catcher moving forward."It would have been hell if they would have did that, for sure," Watson said Sunday, according to Sarah Barshop of ESPN. "I'm glad to continue to play with Will. We've been making a lot of big, big plays since I came into this league, (and we're) going to continue to do that as we continue to go the rest of this year and hopefully the rest of our careers."Fuller, Houston's leading receiver this season, racked up his fourth 100-yard performance of the year during his team's 27-25 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.Overall, the wideout caught five passes for 100 yards and one touchdown in Week 9.The Texans were expected to be sellers at last Tuesday's deadline after starting the season 1-6 and not having any first- or second-round picks in the 2021 draft. Fuller reportedly generated interest from multiple teams. The 26-year-old, who's playing the fifth year of his rookie contract and could become a free agent next offseason, said "it really sucked" to be shopped by Houston.Fuller has amassed 36 receptions for 590 yards and six touchdowns in 2020.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Stafford clears concussion protocol after late exit vs. Vikings
The Detroit Lions removed Matthew Stafford from Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings after the quarterback took a hit in the fourth quarter.Stafford was evaluated for a concussion but said after the game he cleared the protocol, according to Lions senior writer Tim Twentyman.Chase Daniel entered the game in his place and threw for 94 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The veteran passer was injured when a sack from two Vikings defenders caused him to hit his head on the ground at the end of the play.Stafford completed 23-of-32 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions before he left the contest. The 32-year-old was unable to practice all week due to being in close contact with someone who had COVID-19. The team removed him from the reserve list on Saturday.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
Rivers blasts NFL after controversial INT: No one thought that was a catch
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers didn't hold his thoughts on the NFL's catch rule back after officials awarded a controversial interception to Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters."It's gotten so jacked up, how the catch rule is. No one who has been around football or watched football thought that was a catch, including the guy who caught it," Rivers said following the game, according to The Athletic's Stephen Holder. The referees initially ruled the pass incomplete after Peters lost control of the ball heading to the ground but the call was changed to an interception after review.
Patriots-Jets betting trends and player props
Find line reports, best bets, and subscribe to push notifications in the Betting News section. If anything can help turn things around for the Patriots (-9.5, 41), it's a meeting with the hapless Jets, who will likely be without Sam Darnold on Monday as he recovers from a shoulder injury. Still, with the way these teams are playing, it's hard to have faith in either side. Here are our favorite trends, props, and bets for Monday night.Betting trendsThis has been a nightmarish season for the Jets - who are 0-8 straight up with seven losses against the spread - but they've been a bad bet in this spot for a while. They're 7-13 ATS at home since 2018, 3-13 ATS when getting at least 9.5 points since 2016, and 8-18-1 ATS in their last 27 prime-time games, including 0-5 ATS in their last five tries. They're even worse without Darnold. Since drafting him in 2018, New York is 2-6 ATS / 0-8 SU with an abysmal 9.8 points per game in eight contests without their young quarterback. Expected starter Joe Flacco is 3-9-1 ATS in his last 11 starts, leading his teams to 15 points per game in that span. It's not like the Patriots have been much better. Since Cam Newton was sidelined with COVID-19 in Week 4, his team is 1-3 ATS and 3-1 to the under behind 12.2 points per game. The Jets are 5-2-1 to the under in those eight games without Darnold, while Flacco's teams are 10-2-1 to the under in his last 11 starts.A line this high should catch under bettors' attention, too. Games involving a favorite of at least 9.5 points have gone 106-63-4 (62.7%) to the under since 2015, including 8-3-1 this season. The Patriots are 8-3-1 to the under in their last 12 when giving this many points, while the Jets are 22-9-1 to the under in their last 32 games catching at least 9.5 points.Player propsDamien Harris over 51.5 yards (-110)Harris was expected to be the starting back for the Patriots after an impressive offseason, and he's shown that promise since returning from injury. The second-year rusher is averaging 69.8 yards per game with two 100-yard outings and ranks sixth among RBs with 5.7 yards per carry (minimum 40 attempts). The Jets' run defense stepped up against the Chiefs a week ago, but they'll have a tougher time against a Patriots offense built around its ground game. If New England trusts Harris with his usual workload, he shouldn't have any issue hitting the over.Denzel Mims to score a touchdown (+400)Mims has only played two games in his NFL career, and the rookie has led the Jets in receiving yards in both contests. He's also had his fair share of scoring opportunities - he's been targeted in the red zone twice and had an easy touchdown that Darnold simply didn't see in Week 7.Can he get into the end zone this week? Patriots' Stephon Gilmore is expected to miss Sunday's game, while fellow corner J.C. Jackson was listed on this week's injury report, too. At these odds, Mims is a great value to take advantage of.Best betUnder 41This profiles as one of the strongest under plays of the season. The Jets have the worst offense in the league, and the Patriots' offense hasn't looked much better in recent weeks. If either side does come alive, it'll likely be on the back of their rushing attack, which only helps the under.C Jackson Cowart is a betting writer for theScore. Smith named starter after Allen carted off with gruesome ankle injury
Washington Football Team quarterback Kyle Allen was carted off in the first quarter Sunday against the New York Giants after suffering a gruesome ankle injury.Allen took a hit to his lower leg while dropping back to pass. Trainers placed an air cast on him before exiting. The initial diagnosis on the quarterback is a dislocated ankle, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. It's a small fracture but still considered a significant injury.Alex Smith replaced Allen at quarterback. It was Smith's second game of the year, as he played his first snap since his own gruesome leg injury in 2018 during a Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.Following the game, head coach Ron Rivera confirmed that Smith would start next week versus the Detroit Lions, according to NBC Sports' JP Finlay.Allen started Washington's last four games after 2019 first-rounder Dwayne Haskins was demoted to third-string early in the campaign.Copyright © 2020 Score Media Ventures Inc. Ezekiel Elliott active vs. Steelers
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is officially active for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Elliott has been battling hamstring troubles and his workload remains unclear.Elliott suffered the injury last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles and was a limited participant in practice all week. Head coach Mike McCarthy alluded to making the rusher go through a pregame workout to ensure his availability.
