We won a total last week - which was cool. We won another upset moneyline bet of the week - which was very cool. However, the spread bets continue to be snake-bitten. From a macro standpoint, the Jets made two offensive plays all game, but the Broncos missed kicks and lost despite a box score that favored them in almost all categories. From a micro standpoint, Jamaal Williams fumbled at the goal line in the fourth quarter on a play that looked to give the Lions a lead in Dallas, and a path to at least cover. We'd make both losing bets again.BET TYPELAST WEEKSEASON (units)ATS trio1-2 (-1.2)9-10-2 (-2)ML upset+25-2 (+7.6)Totals+12-5 (-3.5)Teasers-1.22-5 (-4)TOTAL+0.6-1.9Best bets ATSCowboys -10This sat at -9.5 throughout the week. Hopefully, it goes back there, as this is the highest I'd bet the Cowboys at. However, the matchup is too good to pass up.The Bears put on tape that they're willing to run Justin Fields by design. Now the Cowboys know what to expect, and they have the sideline-to-sideline defensive speed to stop it.Dallas turns quarterback pressure into sacks and turnovers, while Fields and the Bears get sacked and turn it over frequently. For all of the good Chicago vibes from Monday night, the team traded Robert Quinn - who was seeing the most double teams of any defensive end in the league - days later. That will allow opponents to use an extra blocker against the league's 10th-worst run defense. Whether Elliott Ezekiel can go, or it's just Tony Pollard, Dak Prescott's life will be very easy in his second game back.49ers moneyline (-120)The 49ers' defense got worked over last week, but Patrick Mahomes will do that to you. Even though San Francisco isn't fully healthy, neither are the Rams, who lost another offensive tackle before their bye week. We've been backing San Francisco in this matchup for years, and it's been successful as the Jimmy Garoppolo-Kyle Shanahan combo remains undefeated against the spread. Another full week of preparation means that Christian McCaffrey gets that much more involved. Plus, Trent Williams made it through last week healthy, helping an offensive line that did fine against the Rams earlier this season. They don't have the same value as in the past when the Niners were underdogs in Los Angeles, but they're still the better team and worth buying a cheap moneyline of -120.Seahawks -3In Coach of the Year conversations, Pete Carroll gets lumped in with Brian Daboll and other candidates from surprising teams. The difference between the Seahawks and Giants is that the metrics actually back up Seattle being good. Third in offensive DVOA and improving weekly on defense, the Seahawks return home to take on a Giants team that continues a travel schedule of London-New-York-Jacksonville-New York-Seattle. Plus, New York's numbers don't suggest a 6-1 team.Moneyline upset of the weekOur defined parameter for this section is underdogs paying at least +150.Cardinals +160We referenced the Cardinals' defense in the round-robin moneyline parlay, but what makes them worth taking on the moneyline on their own is Arizona's offense when DeAndre Hopkins is available.Hopkins played both outside and in the slot in his return last week, catching 10 passes for 103 yards. Having played Thursday, Arizona had a short week with two fresh pieces but now has had the "mini-bye" to get the combination of Hopkins, Rondale Moore, and Robbie Anderson in the right roles. Meanwhile, the Vikings' defense gave up 385 passing yards to the combination of Skylar Thompson and Teddy Bridgewater before Minnesota's bye week.Best total betSteelers / Eagles under 43 pointsWhether it's the under or the Steelers +10.5, or those hoping for a moneyline payout, our handicap on this game hopes Pittsburgh is prepared for the Eagles' offense in the first half. The Dolphins scored a touchdown on their first drive and never got in the end zone again, so if the Steelers can survive the scripted portion of Philadelphia's game plan with a defense that's gotten healthier and adjusted to life without T.J. Watt, they can battle in the trenches with neither team capable of an offensive explosion.Best 6-point teaserSaints +7.5 / Commanders +9We'll dare the Raiders to win by two scores, trusting a Saints offense that's fourth in yards per play. Last week, Mark Ingram and Taysom Hill were taken out of the game thanks to a trailing game script, but New Orleans can hold up against Josh Jacobs and keep this score close. If you can find the Commanders at +3 (-110), that's good enough for a bet on its own. But if you don't want to pay -120 now, you can bump them up to +9 and dare Sam Ehlinger to beat you by double digits.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Quarterback Tom Brady remained in full uniform following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 27-22 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine. The seven-time Super Bowl winner appeared dejected after the Buccaneers' third straight defeat. Brady is 3-5 as a starter this season, the first time he's ever hit such a mark in his illustrious 23-year career."We gotta go earn it," Brady said postgame when asked how the team can change its fortunes. "I don't think you can erase what happened the last eight weeks."We've gotta dig deep, see what we're all about, come to work, try to improve, and give ourselves a better chance to win."Tampa Bay's offense has struggled with consistency through eight contests. The Bucs managed to score their first opening-drive touchdown of the year on Thursday but did not find the end zone again until the final minute of the fourth quarter.Brady currently leads the league with 2,267 passing yards to go along with nine touchdowns and one interception with a 65.9% completion rate. Despite his promising output, the Bucs are averaging just 18.3 points per game.Wide receiver Mike Evans noted it's not fair to place the club's struggles on Brady's shoulders. "Nobody's pointing the finger at Tom Brady," he said. "It's a whole team. A team game. The ultimate team game. It's not just one player. It never has been."Tampa Bay will have 10 days until its next game on Nov. 6 against the Los Angeles Rams to address its shortcomings, giving Brady extra time to sort out the issues plaguing the offense."I think we're going to try to figure out everything," he said. "We'll have a little extra time to evaluate and see what we're doing and how we can do better moving forward."Meanwhile, head coach Todd Bowles alluded to possibly making coaching staff or play-calling changes."We are going to talk about everything this weekend," Bowles said. "When you are not playing well, everything is on the table for us, and we will discuss it as a staff."Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage, the quarterback announced on Instagram on Friday.Brady said the two "arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude" for the time they spent together."We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration, Brady stated. "Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written."Bundchen added in a statement that the two had "grown apart," but she feels "blessed" for the time they shared. The split between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and the fashion model comes after months of rumors of an impending divorce.Brady married Bundchen in February 2009. The couple has two children, while Brady also parents a child from a previous relationship. The seven-time Super Bowl champion sent shockwaves throughout the NFL this offseason after initially retiring in February before going back on his decision less than two months later.Bundchen previously said she had worries about Brady's return but understands why he came back."Obviously, I have my concerns. This is a very violent sport, and I have my children, and I would like him to be more present," Bundchen told Elle's Chantal Fernandez in September. "I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for (them). He needs to follow his joy, too."Brady told reporters in October there was "no retirement in my future" when pressed about the possibility of retiring midseason.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews and wide receiver Rashod Bateman were both ruled out of Thursday's 27-22 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but neither suffered a long-term injury.Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said postgame that Andrews and Bateman's shoulder and foot injuries, respectively, aren't serious, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.Running back Gus Edwards also left the contest due to a hamstring injury, and Harbaugh said the team will know more about his status tomorrow.Andrews sustained the ailment early in the second quarter and went to the locker room before being ruled out at halftime. Bateman entered the game with his foot issue. The All-Pro tight end, who didn't catch a pass in Sunday's victory over the Cleveland Browns, was heavily involved in Baltimore's game plan early versus Tampa Bay, being targeted five times before going down. He hauled in three passes for 33 yards.Andrews was originally listed as questionable with a knee injury. The 27-year-old is Lamar Jackson's primary weapon in the passing game. The Carolina Panthers continue to receive trade interest for wide receiver D.J. The New England Patriots have received trade calls for wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn, sources told NFL Network's Mike Giardi.Wynn is in the final year of his rookie deal, while Bourne has one more year left on his contract. Despite the Denver Broncos' 2-5 start to the season, and amid intense scrutiny regarding Nathaniel Hackett, general manager George Paton expressed confidence Thursday in the rookie head coach."I believe in Nathaniel," Paton said, according to Troy Renck of Denver7. "I support Nathaniel 100%."Hackett has received criticism for his decision-making, particularly when he decided to settle for a 64-yard game-winning field goal in the season opener.Additionally, much of Denver's struggles have come in prime-time games, where the team is 1-3 and averaging 13.7 points per contest."He's had to learn in front of the entire world," Paton added. "But I really like how he's kept the team together. They're connected, he's kept our building together, and I appreciate how he's fought through (the scrutiny)."The Broncos' disappointing campaign so far comes after their offseason trade for quarterback Russell Wilson, whom they signed to a five-year, $245-million contract extension in September. Although Wilson has played well below expectations, Paton also expressed support for the signal-caller."We're in it for the long haul with Russ, and not the first seven games," per Renck. "We believe in Russ. I believe in Russ."However, Paton identified Denver's need to find an offensive identity as a pressing area of concern. The Broncos rank 23rd in yards per contest and have only eclipsed 20 points in a game once."We just need to play better on offense. ... We really don't have an identity on offense, and I think that comes with time, and I hope it comes soon," Paton said.Denver will look to improve to 3-5 when it takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. It was another 2/5 effort last week, with the Lions and Texans unable to cling to second-half leads. This was the first time three outright underdogs didn't cover the spread after two failed to each previous week this season. At 23-10-2 against the spread, single-spread bets have offset our bonus wager, which hopes to prey on chaos. The worst part about Week 7 was the pair of outrageous upsets just sitting there waiting for us to pick them. The Buccaneers' loss at Carolina and the Bears' upset of New England were reminders that there's no such thing as too crazy of a bet.How it worksWe parlay five underdogs we like ATS together in 10 different three-team parlays. Using every combination of a three-team parlay is called a round robin. We'll use a total of 1.1 units to make 11 different bets: 10 three-team parlays and one five-team parlay, each for .1 units. You'll likely double your money if three teams pull off the upset. If four teams win, you're connecting on four separate parlays and will be very pleased with the return. If all five teams win, as they did for us in Week 1 last season, you'll be diving into a silo of gold doubloons like a young Scrooge McDuck.Who to playCardinals +160The Cardinals have been surprisingly good on the road, going 10-2 outright - along with 10 covers - since the start of last season. Meanwhile, what was your favorite recent Vikings home win? Barely beating the Lions with a miracle comeback, or barely beating the Bears after coughing up a three-score lead? Or maybe it was when they survived a trip to London against the Saints without half of New Orleans' starting offense?Arizona's defense is sneakily underrated, with its metrics lagging due to an outlier season opener when the Cardinals were short-handed against the Chiefs. The Vikings run the same offense as the Rams, who Arizona prepares for in-division.Along with his issues in prime time, Kirk Cousins' less-heralded shortcoming is his 2-5 ATS record coming out of a bye. In this case, Minnesota doesn't have much more of a rest advantage since the Cardinals played last Thursday.Saints +110Two weeks ago, the Bengals were -2 in New Orleans, and now the Raiders are getting the same treatment. The Saints were shorthanded against Cincinnati, but it didn't stop them from taking a nine-point fourth-quarter lead. Last week, a pair of unfortunate pick-6s derailed their chances in Arizona. Even with all of the team's offensive injuries, New Orleans is behind just Buffalo, Kansas City, and Seattle in yards per play.Meanwhile, Las Vegas' margin of victory last week was cosmetically enhanced by Josh Jacobs running through the Texans. Although the Saints' defense has given up 5.7 yards per rush in its last three games, this is the same unit that allowed a league-low 3.7 yards per carry last year. With the same core personnel, New Orleans should be capable of fixing those issues.Steelers +400With no point spreads around a touchdown, we're searching for a team capable of pulling off a big upset, or being the victim of one. Sure, the Eagles are undefeated, but there's nothing in league bylaws saying undefeated teams can never lose.Pittsburgh's got a big upset under its belt and almost nabbed another last week. The Eagles' offense has been impressive in the first halves of games, but a dip in scoring in the second half shows it can be vulnerable to adjustments. With Kenny Pickett already showing improvement, the Steelers could hold down the Eagles just enough to where one strange bounce puts Philadelphia in unfamiliar territory: at a deficit in the fourth quarter.Commanders +130Why not go back to the Commanders? Taylor Heinicke should be more comfortable indoors in his second start of the season after being wild with the football in wet conditions last week. However, this is more about the Colts' quarterback.Sam Ehlinger isn't a supreme athletic project or a late bloomer. A four-year starter at Texas, the Colts wouldn't have acquired both Matt Ryan and Nick Foles if they loved what they saw from Ehlinger. It's possible Ehlinger turns out to be Dak Prescott or Jalen Hurts, but it's more probable we're getting plus-money with a defensive line that torments a bad Colts offensive line and, in turn, an overmatched quarterback.Browns +160Things are derailing in Cleveland, but prime time in the Dawg Pound won't be as easy for Cincinnati as a home game against the Falcons' decimated secondary. The Browns' defensive communication got a boost from adding Deion Jones at middle linebacker last week, and soggy conditions could slow the passing games Monday night. Joe Burrow struggled last season in his one matchup with Cleveland, where the Browns ran for 6.7 yards per carry in a 41-16 win. Here's how the odds look this week:PARLAYODDS (Approx.)ARZ+NO+PIT+2600ARZ+NO+WSH+1200ARZ+NO+CLE+1300ARZ+PIT+WSH+3000ARZ+PIT+CLE+3300ARZ+WSH+CLE+1500NO+PIT+WSH+2300NO+PIT+CLE+2900NO+WSH+CLE+1100PIT+WSH+CLE+2900ARZ+NO+PIT+WSH+CLE+16000Who are your five underdogs for a football betting lottery ticket?Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Last season, we rocked and rolled our way to the Super Bowl with music-themed Thursday Night Football player props, joyfully celebrating the start of a new NFL week. This year, we'll use an episode from "Must See TV" cornerstone "Seinfeld" each week to remind us that betting is supposed to be fun, even when an absurd series of events leads to a losing bet."You walk over to that table. You pick up an egg roll. You don't say anything. You eat it. You say, 'Thank you very much.' Wipe your mouth. Walk away. I give you $50." - Jerry dares a hungry Elaine to take food off a stranger's plate at a Chinese restaurant. If it were that easy to make a few bucks, we'd do it every Thursday in this space. The penultimate episode of season two of "Seinfeld" made an impression because it was set in a single location - a restaurant - that wasn't a main setting of the show. This was unheard of in 1991, but as with most of the show's episodes, the concept was relatable to viewers.'The Chinese Restaurant'After over 20 years of dominance, Tom Brady has become relatable. His struggles are on full display, much like Elaine's struggles to get a table for four were. Another common point: Brady's always been hungry, much like Elaine was at the restaurant. However, unlike her unsuccessful attempt to bribe the maitre d'hotel, I trust the quarterback to get the job done, even while "struggling to compute this unprecedented turn of events."As down as everyone is on the Buccaneers after massive upsets the last two weeks, Brady's still fifth in the league in passing yards per game among qualifying quarterbacks at 277.4. He gets to face a Ravens defense that's 20th in passing yards per attempt against. The Bucs' defense has been relatively disappointing in recent games, even giving up 6.9 yards per play to Carolina last week. The Ravens are a popular pick to win the game, with the line swinging from Bucs -3 on the lookahead line to the Ravens as short favorites early in the week. Lamar Jackson's group tends to score early: They've recorded first-half leads in every game. This would create a negative game state for Tampa.Jerry opens "The Chinese Restaurant" with a throwback stand-up bit about pay phones, leading to George fighting with people just to use the lobby phone. Whether Brady trails early or is able to call up Mike Evans on a first-quarter deep ball this week, look for turn-back-the-clock production from the GOAT.Pick: Tom Brady over 281.5 passing yards (-110)A TD that's definitely going to happenOne relatable moment from this episode is when Jerry can't place how he knows someone he runs into. We've all been there, and watching Jackson elicits a similar feeling. He's clearly talented but only has two rushing touchdowns in seven games this season and had two in 12 games last year. This means the Ravens appear content with handing the ball off near the goal line.Gus Edwards returned last week, playing the most snaps of any Raven tailback, getting 16 carries and two touchdowns. He was +145 to score against the Browns, and he's +160 to score this week. In other words, the Ravens' goal-line runner of choice is lined at less than a 40% implied probability to score. To quote George in this episode, "What kind of a world do we live in?!"Pick: Gus Edwards anytime touchdown (+162)A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it doesIf Jackson won't score near the goal line, the score might come from a big body that's on the field almost all the time. Longtime fullback Patrick Ricard caught two passes and even had a carry last week. He's scored at least once a season since entering the league in 2017 but doesn't have a touchdown yet this year.He played his most snaps of the season last week, and his seven catches in six games put him on pace for the most he's been given the ball in his career. At 15-1 odds to score on theScore Bet, he's worth a bet every game until he gets his due in 2022.If the team can get a goal-line play-action pass for Ricard to "momentarily extricate (himself) from the proceedings" and catch a touchdown, I'll happily "put my face in their soup and blow."Pick: Patrick Ricard anytime touchdown (+1500)How to bet: The first two bets should be single-unit wagers - to win a unit on minus prices and more than a unit on a plus-money bet. The last wager should be smaller, trying to win back your standard unit size.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. If there’s a bad beat to be had, Matt will find it. The Houston Texans are willing to trade wide receiver Brandin Cooks ahead of the Nov. 1 deadline, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.Several teams are reportedly interested in Cooks, and Houston would prefer draft capital in return. The veteran signed a two-year, $39.6-million extension in April after producing back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns and 12 combined touchdowns in his first two seasons with the Texans. The 29-year-old has struggled to replicate that form in 2022. He has 28 catches for 281 yards and one score in seven appearances.Cooks isn't the only receiver apparently receiving interest ahead of the deadline, as teams are also eyeing the Pittsburgh Steelers' Chase Claypool and Denver Broncos' Jerry Jeudy.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Chicago Bears agreed to trade defensive end Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles for a fourth-round pick, the teams announced Wednesday.Chicago will pick up most of Quinn's remaining salary, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The pass-rusher has a salary of $12.8 million this season on a deal with two years remaining beyond 2022, per Spotrac.Quinn has been rumored to be a trade candidate since the rebuilding Bears traded Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers in the offseason. However, the veteran has consistently said he hoped to stay in Chicago. The 32-year-old joins an Eagles team that has yet to lose this season and is among the favorites to win the Super Bowl.Philadelphia's pass rush was already one of the NFL's most potent units, averaging the eighth-most sacks per game (2.8). Quinn will join a formidable rotation that includes Brandon Graham, Haason Reddick, and Josh Sweat.Quinn set the Bears' single-season sack record last season with 18.5. He has just one sack in seven appearances so far this year.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Quarterback Mac Jones will start the New England Patriots' Week 8 matchup against the New York Jets, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.Jones took the bulk of Wednesday's first-team practice reps in preparation, Yates reports. The sophomore passer was benched during Monday's blowout loss to the Chicago Bears in favor of rookie Bailey Zappe. It was Jones' first action since he suffered an ankle injury in Week 3.Zappe started two games while Jones was sidelined and also relieved an injured Brian Hoyer in a Week 3 overtime defeat to the Green Bay Packers. Zappe completed 51 of 70 attempts for 596 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in those three appearances. He then added 14 completions on 22 attempts for 185 yards, a touchdown, and two picks after replacing Jones on Monday night.Jones' numbers this season haven't matched Zappe's, as the 24-year-old completed 67 of 103 passes for 799 yards and two touchdowns against six interceptions in four starts.Despite Zappe's better statistical output, Jones is just one year removed from being drafted in the first round. Jones had a strong rookie campaign in which the team went 10-7 and made the playoffs.Head coach Bill Belichick wouldn't name a starter immediately following the Week 7 loss. He again declined on Wednesday, only saying, "We'll see how it goes."Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The NFL trading season ends Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. ET. With the Bears seemingly unwilling to make Smith one of the league's highest-paid linebackers, trading him is the smartest move for a rebuilding team that could have a top-10 draft pick in 2023. Smith, a second-team All-Pro in each of the last two seasons, has racked up 78 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two interceptions this year.Potential landing spots: Ravens, ChargersChase ClaypoolThe writing might already be on the wall for Claypool. The Steelers gave Diontae Johnson an extension in the offseason and added wideout George Pickens in the draft. Still, the franchise might be hesitant to move a 24-year-old receiver under contract for 2023. However, that might not stop some wide-receiver-needy teams from making the phones in Pittsburgh ring with inquiries. Gifted with a rare combination of size and athleticism, Claypool is the kind of physical specimen that clubs deeply value.Potential landing spots: Giants, TitansBrian BurnsThe Panthers are this year's biggest sellers, and Burns is arguably their most talented young player. Granted, Carolina apparently won't deal the 2019 first-round pick unless it gets a massive haul in return. But Burns is a mouth-watering option for teams looking for a defender who will be one of the NFL's top edge rushers for years to come. He amassed 50-plus pressures and nine sacks in each of the last two campaigns.Potential landing spots: Rams, ChiefsElijah MooreMoore's one of the most surprising names on this year's trade deadline big board. The second-year wideout had a solid rookie campaign and entered 2022 as one of the Jets' main weapons, but he recently requested a trade following a zero-target outing in Week 6. Coach Robert Saleh said New York doesn't plan to move Moore, but things could change once it has offers on the table. Moore has caught only 16 passes in 2022, but he amassed 538 yards and five touchdowns in just 11 games last year.Potential landing spots: Packers, ChargersD.J. MooreThe Panthers appear to be holding a garage sale as they head for a top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Trading former franchise star Christian McCaffrey might signal that no one is off limits. However, Moore is reportedly considered a foundational piece of the roster and isn't for sale. Whether that's true remains to be seen, but Moore would likely fetch Carolina a large return. Despite some putrid quarterback play, the 25-year-old wideout has exceeded 1,100 receiving yards over the past three seasons.Potential landing spots: Cowboys, RavensBradley ChubbChubb is the most logical option if the Broncos are to move anyone. The pass-rusher is set to be a free agent at the end of the season and would recoup some draft capital for a franchise that appears destined for mediocrity in 2022. Chubb recorded 12 sacks in his rookie year but has compiled just 14 sacks in the four campaigns since. The 26-year-old would still be a great fit for a team looking to make a playoff run.Potential landing spots: Eagles, RavensDavid MontgomeryThe Bears would likely listen to trade calls regarding every player, and other teams should be reaching out about Montgomery. It's unclear if Chicago plans on giving the fourth-year veteran an extension, but it'd be smart to get draft compensation in return for the pending free agent ahead of the 2023 offseason. The Bears will lose one of their most consistent offensive players if they move Montgomery. But they roster emerging running back Khalil Herbert, who deserves a larger role.Potential landing spots: Rams, BroncosJerry JeudyJeudy has reportedly been the subject of trade calls amid the Broncos' disappointing 2022 campaign. The former No. 15 overall pick hasn't played up to expectations through his first three seasons, as he's yet to eclipse even 900 receiving yards in a campaign. However, the 23-year-old is an intriguing bounce-back candidate. Though Jeudy's value isn't what the Broncos imagined when they spent a top pick on him in 2020, it's hard to picture them parting with him for cheap.Potential landing spots: Seahawks, VikingsBrandin CooksCooks is averaging a career-low 10 yards per catch this year, but it's hard to blame the receiver considering the Texans' limitations in the passing game. Cooks has been one of the NFL's best vertical threats for most of his career and topped 1,000 yards in each of the last two years. He should be an attractive trade chip for teams looking for a quality starter.Potential landing spots: Packers, BuccaneersKenny GolladayFew players need a change of scenery as much as Golladay. It's hard to imagine him being dealt by the Giants in the second season of a four-year, $72-million deal with guaranteed money going into 2023. Still, New York should cut its losses if a team makes an offer. The former Pro Bowler only has two catches in 2022, and he clearly isn't part of first-year coach Brian Daboll's plans. Golladay caught 1,190 yards and a league-high 11 touchdowns three years ago.Potential landing spots: Bears, RaidersJessie BatesIt's not often that a team with a winning record ships off one of their best players, but it isn't too far-fetched to imagine the Bengals trading Bates. Friction between the two sides emerged over the offseason after they couldn't agree to an extension for the franchise-tagged safety. Drafting Daxton Hill in the first round might signal the club is grooming Bates' heir, leaving the trade deadline as the last opportunity for Cincinnati to receive anything in return for Bates.Potential landing spots: Cowboys, FalconsKendrick BourneBourne has found himself without a true role in the 2022 edition of the Patriots' offense. After putting up over 925 yards from scrimmage last year, Bourne's 156 receiving yards rank fifth on the team. New England reportedly wants to hang on to him despite receiving calls from interested suitors. Bill Belichick might be better off seeing what he can fetch for the 27-year-old as he's on the path to be a likely cut candidate in the offseason thanks to a $4.75-million base salary in 2023.Potential landing spots: Giants, RaidersWilliam JacksonJackson has reportedly requested a trade, and it's easy to see why. A corner who has built his game on playing man-to-man, Jackson is an awkward fit for a zone-heavy Commanders defense. A potential trade to a team that utilizes a man-coverage philosophy is a move that makes sense for both sides, especially with Washington sitting at 3-4 with its No. 1 quarterback sidelined.Potential landing spots: Lions, ChargersMike GesickiThe Dolphins and Gesicki couldn't agree to a multi-year extension in the offseason, and Miami reportedly fielded trade calls for the franchise-tagged tight end before the regular season began. We usually don't see potential playoff teams selling at the deadline, but Gesicki, who's caught 50-plus yards in just one game this year, likely isn't part of Miami's long-term plans. Other clubs would surely be interested in bringing in a pass-catcher who topped 700 yards in each of the last two campaigns.Potential landing spots: Buccaneers, GiantsRobert QuinnQuinn's production this season (eight tackles and one sack) and his contract (signed a five-year, $70-million deal in 2020) aren't very appealing. But let's not forget that he's just a year removed from an 18.5-sack campaign. Quinn doesn't figure to be part of the Bears' long-term plans but could be a solid short-term option for a playoff contender with pass-rush issues.Potential landing spots: Chiefs, RamsCam AkersAfter two-plus years together, the Rams and Akers are headed for a divorce. Sean McVay has already openly discussed the likelihood of the running back finding a new home, meaning it shouldn't take much to make a deal happen. Akers flashed in his rookie year but has struggled to show the same juice since returning from a torn Achilles at the tail end of last season. The 23-year-old has only averaged more than three yards per carry in one game this campaign.Potential landing spots: Broncos, FalconsDenzel MimsSimilar to Elijah Moore, Mims is a former second-round wideout who's unhappy with the Jets due to his workload. Mims was one of the top prospects of a stacked wide receiver draft class in 2020, so there's still hope he has untapped upside. However, his first three NFL seasons are discouraging. He's played just 24 snaps in 2022, and he caught only 31 passes for 490 yards and no touchdowns over the previous two seasons combined.Potential landing spots: Raiders, BearsSidney JonesAfter drafting a pair of standout corners this year in Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant, the Seahawks have reportedly made Jones available. Jones, who posted one of the best years of his career and started 11 games in 2021, hasn't had many opportunities in 2022. He could definitely use a change of scenery and help a team with cornerback issues.Potential landing spots: Steelers, DolphinsJackson CarmanAfter starting six games as a rookie last season, Carman has fallen mightily in the pecking order of Cincinnati's offensive line. A healthy scratch for most of the year, the Bengals seemingly don't appear thrilled with their second-round investment. While it's never a good sign to be left out on an offensive line that has allowed 25 sacks in 2022, perhaps a scenery change could do Carman some good.Potential landing spots: Rams, BearsMason RudolphRudolph has been the odd man out in a Steelers quarterback room featuring veteran Mitch Trubisky and first-round rookie Kenny Pickett. Pittsburgh has stuck by the Oklahoma State product since drafting him in 2018, but he hasn't even grabbed a jersey on game days this year. Equipped with starting experience, Rudolph could be a good bet for teams looking for a safe backup quarterback option.Potential landing spots: 49ers, Texans(Cap source: Spotrac)Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is expected to miss at least four weeks due to a high ankle sprain, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper.Williams sustained the injury on a fourth-down reception near the sideline during the fourth quarter of last weekend's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Williams appeared to get his cleat stuck in the grass and was tackled awkwardly by Seattle cornerback Michael Jackson. The 28-year-old needed assistance from the team's medical staff to make his way to the sideline and didn't put any weight on his right leg. He was spotted wearing a walking boot following Sunday's contest.Head coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Williams would miss a "matter of weeks, not days" because of the ailment, per ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.Williams leads the Chargers with 495 receiving yards to go along with 37 receptions and three touchdowns. He tallied 1,146 yards and nine scores last season.L.A. has been marred by injuries through the first seven weeks of the season. Tackle Rashawn Slater and cornerback J.C. Jackson have both been lost for the year. Wideout Keenan Allen returned last week after missing five games due to a hamstring injury.Additionally, there's optimism that star pass-rusher Joey Bosa will return to the lineup for multiple games later this season, Popper reports. The Chargers have a bye in Week 8 before playing the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 6.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Indianapolis Colts decided to bench quarterback Matt Ryan for Sam Ehlinger on Monday, leaving the longtime veteran displeased with how things have played out through seven games."Obviously disappointed personally, but I'm here for the team," Ryan said when asked about being benched, 1075 The Fan's Kevin Bowne reports. "Life in this league is week-to-week, and the production has to be there."Ryan led the Colts to a 3-3-1 start while throwing for 2,008 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions, ranking 30th in points per game. The 37-year-old has garnered respect in the Colts' locker room since arriving in Indianapolis, including from center Ryan Kelly."Love the guy. I’ve said this shit eight times now: I get close with all these guys. Sucks man. It is what it is," Kelly said, according to The Athletic's Zak Keefer."I think everybody’s got their own opinions about it," Kelly added about the benching. "I’m not gonna get into mine, but yeah, certainly, I think there's a little bit of surprise."Head coach Frank Reich said the team plans to start Ehlinger for the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter."I love Sam. He’s been awesome since the day I got here. My job shifts now. I gotta do everything I can to help him. He’s gonna do great for us," Ryan said on Ehlinger, according to Keefer.Reich said choosing to go with Ehlinger over Nick Foles was best for the team, reports Fox59's Mike Chappell.Ehlinger was the Colts' sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The world of teasers started Week 7 with an epic backdoor cover for Saints (+8.5) legs and ended with the destruction of what seemed like the best option of them all: the Patriots (-2.5). In between, the Ravens, Cowboys, Raiders, and Bengals all seemed tough to trust in avoiding an upset, but each won outright, though not without their moments of doubt. The highlight of the week was the opportunity in the Jets-Broncos game. Early in the week, the Jets were a viable teaser leg when Denver was a favorite of under a touchdown. After Russell Wilson was gradually ruled out, and the Jets became the road favorite, Broncos teaser legs of +7.5 or better became available. Both sides of those optimal numbers cashed. Some games don't have a teaser-worthy point spread. For example, the Bengals have moved to 3.5-point favorites at the Browns on Monday Night Football. Teasing Cincinnati would bring the spread through zero, wasting valuable price points around an improbable tie.Teasing the Browns up to +9.5 seems appealing, as it would get the key numbers through a touchdown, but you're already winning on a 3-point margin at a -110 price. Getting +6, +7, or +8 over a long sample size isn't worth the price hike to -270.Let's use the short point spread in the NFL's return to London on Sunday morning, where we can use the Broncos and Jaguars (-2.5) as an example of the value of teasing a short underdog up.ALT. SPREADODDSBroncos +3.5-175Broncos +4.5-200Broncos +5.5-210Broncos +6.5-260Broncos +7.5-334Broncos +8.5-375The pricing significantly jumps once you move across the key number of -3, showing the importance of capturing that number in NFL betting. More importantly, the Broncos' alternative spread (+8.5) is priced at -375, which is obviously a much larger price than getting them at +8.5 with our teaser leg at -270.To get a good deal on the Broncos (+8.5), we must pair them with another game and win both to cash the ticket. Fortunately, we can choose that other leg from our weekly "teaser basket" using what we know about key numbers.Teaser basketLet's look at the mathematically optimal plays available for Week 8:TEAMSPREADTEASER LEGBroncos+2.5+8.5Saints+2+8Jets+1.5+7.5Texans+2+8Rams+1.5+7.5The ebbs and flows of the NFL schedule are amazing. Last week, we had a loaded list of touchdown favorites ripe for a tease down, and just a week later, there are no such options to be found. The Cowboys are -9.5, and if bettors back the Bears to the point where sportsbooks drop the line to -8.5, Dallas becomes the only option to tease down. The good news is that there are at least five options to tease up over a touchdown. Four of the five teams listed above are home underdogs, with the aforementioned Broncos being a neutral site option.Teaser players will have to ask themselves: Who are the most likely teams to give up that extra possession that stretches a one-score game to two-scores? The Colts were a prime teaser leg last week, as the Titans' offense only mustered 12 points. But a Matt Ryan pick-6 turned the game and was the difference between a nine-point Titans win and something in the area of a one-score finish.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. After missing last week's game with a hamstring injury, Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is preparing to return against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week in London."I feel great. I'm ready to rock," Wilson said Wednesday when asked if he could play without any limitations, per Mike Klis of Denver 9news.Head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Wilson is trending in the right direction to play on Sunday, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports, adding that the quarterback was limited in practice on Wednesday.Wilson worked out and stretched for four hours of the eight-hour flight to London, doing high knees in the aisle while the rest of the team was sleeping, he told Stevens."It's cool to play back in London again," Wilson told reporters, including Klis. "I remember the last time I got to play here, it was pretty special. The environment is amazing; it's world-class. I'm excited to get rolling again."The Broncos are off to a 2-5 start, sitting in last place in the AFC West with the 32nd-ranked offense in points per game."Storms don't always last, and this one's not going to last because we're going to work our tails off to work through it," Wilson said, according to Andrew Mason of 104.3 TheFan.Brett Rypien filled in for Wilson last week, completing 24 passes for 225 yards in the Broncos' loss to the New York Jets.

Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner thinks it could be time for Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers to give serious consideration to retirement. In an interview with Lanae Brody of People, Warner suggested the quarterbacks' long careers may be finally catching up with them."I think both of those guys look like they're exhausted," Warner said. "It's OK to go, 'You know what? It's not how it used to be. I may not be who I used to be, or it's just too hard overall to get everybody up to the standard. Maybe it is time to walk away.'"Brady, 45, and Rodgers, 38, have both had their share of struggles this season. Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 3-4 with a loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, while Rodgers' Green Bay Packers sit at 3-4 and have lost three straight.Warner acknowledged that the decision to retire isn't easy but said there's no shame in admitting it's time to walk away."It's not being defeated," he said. "That's not saying you can't do it anymore. I just think sometimes that stuff outweighs the joy of the game, which is what it looks like is happening for those two guys, and I feel for them."Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors. With Halloween right around the corner, we're uncovering a scary trend for each team that will leave fans trembling in fear.1. Philadelphia Eagles (6-0) Mitchell Leff / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 1Scariest trend: Jalen Hurts averaged 305 passing yards per game over the season's first three weeks. In the three games since, that number is below 200 yards. Wins are wins, so it's tough to be too concerned. But Hurts needs to be a big-time passer for the Eagles to be at their best in the playoffs.2. Buffalo Bills (5-1)Previous Rank: 2Scariest trend: The Bills sit alone atop the division, but every other team in the AFC East is also above .500 outside the Patriots. That kind of competition significantly increases the risk of one or two losses down the stretch that could swing the race for home-field advantage.3. Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)Previous Rank: 3Scariest trend: Capable as the Chiefs may be in shootouts, that's not the most comfortable way to play games deep into the postseason. Kansas City's defense has to be better than its current No. 30 ranking against the pass.4. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)Previous Rank: 4Scariest trend: The Cowboys' defense is outstanding against the pass. However, it's been another story defending the run, as Dallas is giving up over 120 rushing yards per game. That could be an issue against a few NFC playoff teams with strong ground attacks.5. New York Giants (6-1) Stu Forster / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 5Scariest trend: The record speaks for itself. But each of the Giants' six wins came down to the wire, with the final results within a single possession. That's not sustainable in any situation, particularly when looking ahead to a potential playoff run.6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-3)Previous Rank: 11Scariest trend: Joe Mixon is averaging 3.3 yards per carry due largely to some continued adventures on the offensive line. The Bengals will never be a run-dominant team. But they'd have an easier time getting opponents out of those challenging two-high looks if their rushing game posed even a small threat.7. Minnesota Vikings (5-1)Previous Rank: 6Scariest trend: Kevin O'Connell was supposed to take the Vikings' passing attack to another level. Instead, Kirk Cousins has thrown for 6.5 yards per attempt, by far the lowest mark of his career as a full-time starter. Minnesota's record is nice, but the club needs more from its offense if it wants to continue winning when the schedule gets tougher.8. Baltimore Ravens (4-3)Previous Rank: 7Scariest trend: Baltimore has blown a lead in the second half in each of its three losses this season. It nearly happened again last weekend against Cleveland before the defense came through to close things out. The talent is there, but the Ravens have to finish games.9. Miami Dolphins (4-3)Previous Rank: 13Scariest trend: Injuries are starting to pile up in Miami's secondary, including Brandon Jones now heading to IR. That's a major concern for a Dolphins defense that ranks 24th against the pass this season. Don't rule out a trade to bolster the defensive backfield.10. San Francisco 49ers (3-4) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 9Scariest trend: The 49ers have turned the ball over three times in each of the last two weeks and in three different games this season. It's no coincidence they lost each of those contests. Giving the opponent extra possessions is a surefire way to waste the efforts of an outstanding defense.11. Seattle Seahawks (4-3)Previous Rank: 18Scariest trend: Seattle's offense has been one of the campaign's biggest surprises, but the Seahawks still turn the ball over too much. They're one of only four teams with at least one giveaway in every game, and Seattle's 10 total turnovers are tied for the eighth most in the NFL this year.12. Tennessee Titans (4-2)Previous Rank: 16Scariest trend: Tennessee has won four in a row, but its offense remains a concern after not scoring a single touchdown in Week 7. The Titans, who have yet to put up 25 or more points in a game this year, rank 31st in yards per play and big-play passes (25-plus-yard completions).13. Los Angeles Rams (3-3)Previous Rank: 12Scariest trend: The Rams' defense misses Von Miller. Los Angeles has pressured opposing quarterbacks in just 12.9% of their dropbacks - the second-worst rate in the league - while ranking in the bottom 10 with only 12 sacks in 2022.14. Los Angeles Chargers (4-3)Previous Rank: 8Scariest trend: Injuries have been the biggest concern for the Chargers, who've played multiple games without crucial starters. The list includes receiver Keenan Allen, left tackle Rashawn Slater, center Corey Linsley, and defensive end Joey Bosa. Things got worse for L.A. in Week 7 as wideout Mike Williams suffered a high ankle sprain and corner J.C. Jackson sustained a season-ending knee ailment.15. New York Jets (5-2) AAron Ontiveroz/MediaNews Group/The Denver Post via Getty Images / Denver Post / GettyPrevious Rank: 15Scariest trend: Zach Wilson has struggled since returning from injury in Week 4. He hasn't tossed more than 210 yards or a touchdown in each of the last three contests. It'll be tough for him to get his game back on track after standout running back Breece Hall and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker both suffered season-ending injuries Sunday.16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)Previous Rank: 10Scariest trend: What happened to the Bucs' run game? Tampa Bay's rushing attack has been far from perfect in recent years, but it often provided stability and balance to Tom Brady when the quarterback needed it most. However, the Buccaneers rank dead last in rushing yards and yards per attempt this year.17. Atlanta Falcons (3-4)Previous Rank: 14Scariest trend: Does Arthur Smith believe in Marcus Mariota? The quarterback attempted just 13 passes despite the Falcons trailing by at least two possessions for most of Sunday's loss. Mariota also hasn't recorded 20-plus pass attempts in three of his last four games. Joe Flacco, who started only the first three weeks for the Jets, has thrown the ball more times (155) than Mariota has in seven starts (150).18. Arizona Cardinals (3-4)Previous Rank: 22Scariest trend: Since Kliff Kingsbury became the coach in 2018, the Cardinals have struggled to sustain success in the second half of their schedules. Arizona has posted a combined 9-19 post-Week 7 record in three years under Kingsbury. Plus, the team has yet to win in Week 8 over that span (two losses and one bye).19. Green Bay Packers (3-4)Previous Rank: 17Scariest trend: There are too many issues in Green Bay right now amid the team's three-game losing streak. Perhaps the Packers' biggest concern is their third-down offense. The club's converted just eight of 32 third-down attempts since Week 5. Sunday's loss to Washington was the first time since 1999 (370 games) that Green Bay didn't convert a third down in a game (0-for-6).20. Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) Ethan Miller / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 24Scariest trend: The Raiders need to start making things more difficult for opposing quarterbacks if they want to turn their season around. Las Vegas' defense is allowing a 104.7 average passer rating, the worst mark in the league.21. Indianapolis Colts (3-3-1)Previous Rank: 19Scariest trend: Matt Ryan played poorly, but the Colts - as head coach Frank Reich admitted - failed to provide him the protection they promised. Even a change to a more mobile Sam Ehlinger won't fix an expensive line that's allowed the fourth-most sacks per game.22. Washington Commanders (3-4)Previous Rank: 30Scariest trend: The Commanders' offense has struggled this season, especially early in games. They've averaged just 6.3 points in the first half of contests, the second-worst mark. Perhaps Washington's offense can find its groove faster with Taylor Heinicke now under center for the injured Carson Wentz.23. Chicago Bears (3-4)Previous Rank: 31Scariest trend: Justin Fields had one of his better passing performances of the season on Monday Night Football, but his unwillingness to challenge tight coverage continues to be a concern. Although a lack of pass-catching talent doesn't help, Fields ranks last in Next Gen Stats' aggressiveness metric, which tracks pass attempts with a defender within one yard of the receiver.24. New England Patriots (3-4)Previous Rank: 20Scariest trend: With only two games left against teams currently below .500, the Patriots have the highest strength of schedule remaining in the NFL. Even those "easy" matchups aren't as easy as they may sound, as New England will visit the Cardinals and Raiders, two clubs that made the playoffs last year.25. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) Courtney Culbreath / Getty Images Sport / GettyPrevious Rank: 23Scariest trend: The Jaguars are certainly better under head coach Doug Pederson than Urban Meyer. But their inability to come through in the clutch is concerning. Jacksonville is now 0-5 in one-score games this campaign after losing to the Giants in Week 7.26. New Orleans Saints (2-5)Previous Rank: 21Scariest trend: If the Saints had one strength entering the season, it was their pass defense. However, the unit has fallen off over the last three weeks, with opposing quarterbacks averaging 7.8 yards per attempt (27th) and completing 70.33% of their passes (28th).27. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-5)Previous Rank: 25Scariest trend: Kenny Pickett's had more mistakes and fewer splash plays than the Steelers likely hoped, but blaming a rookie quarterback over his inept offensive coordinator is unfair. Only the Broncos have scored fewer offensive touchdowns through the last three games than Matt Canada's unit.28. Cleveland Browns (2-5)Previous Rank: 28Scariest trend: Cleveland likely knew it would punt on the 2022 campaign, and now it's official. The already free-falling AFC North club faces the third-hardest schedule by the average DVOA of its remaining opponents.29. Denver Broncos (2-5)Previous Rank: 27Scariest trend: In his prime, Russell Wilson routinely killed defenses that got too aggressive with blitzes. But after seeing a decline in his final years in Seattle, Wilson is now completing just 45.9% of his passes (ahead of only Fields) against additional pressure.30. Carolina Panthers (2-5) Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyPrevious Rank: 32Scariest trend: All the upheaval on Carolina's offense likely explains its third-down struggles. However, the Panthers haven't just been bad; they're in historically awful territory. The club has converted just 25% of their third-down attempts. No other team is below 30%, and no team has finished a season with a 25% conversion rate since the Rams in 2015.31. Detroit Lions (1-5)Previous Rank: 26Scariest trend: The Lions' offense was their lone bright spark through the season's first four weeks, averaging an eye-popping 35 points per game. While the unit has been dealing with injuries, producing zero touchdowns and six total points over the last two weeks is inexcusable.32. Houston Texans (1-4-1)Previous Rank: 29Scariest trend: Although winning games might not be in the Texans' best long-term interests, fans would likely feel better about the team heading into 2023 if it consistently fought for an entire game. Houston's defense isn't great, but it really falls apart in the fourth quarter, averaging the fourth-most points allowed in the league (9.7).Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL suspended Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark for two games for violating the league's personal conduct policy, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.Clark pleaded no contest last month in Los Angeles to two counts of misdemeanor charges for possession of an assault weapon. He was charged in July 2021.The three-time Pro Bowler was arrested in California in March 2021 after police found two loaded guns in his vehicle during a traffic stop. The 29-year-old, who was a key member of the Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning team in 2019, has 56.5 career sacks in seven-plus seasons split between the Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. He'll be eligible to return to the Chiefs' active roster on Nov. 14 before Kansas City's game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11. The 30-year-old recorded 10 tackles and one QB hit in five contests. The addition of the 6-foot-3, 340-pound Hankins is expected to help improve Dallas' run defense, which is surrendering 120.1 rushing yards per game through seven weeks. The former second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft had stints with the New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, and Raiders. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is calling out his teammates following a 3-4 start to the season."We had so many mental errors and mistakes," Rodgers said Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show" regarding the Packers' defeat to the Washington Commanders last weekend. "It's not the kind of football that we're used to playing over the years.""Guys who are making too many mistakes shouldn't be playing," Rodgers added. "Got to start cutting some reps."The four-time MVP noted the team is making double-digit errors this season compared to past years when it averaged at most seven mental lapses per game.Green Bay dropped below .500 after losing to Washington in Week 7. The Packers incurred nine penalties for a total of 69 yards. While Rodgers complimented the Commanders' defensive personnel, he doesn't believe they did anything schematically that should have caused the Packers to struggle. The 10-time Pro Bowler explained that players need to "take ownership of what we're putting on the field," which includes better game-planning and habits throughout the week."I think when the players really take over then you're going to see the possibility of us making a run," he said.Rodgers insists he's optimistic about playing with a young receiving corps after Davante Adams' departure and Randall Cobb's injury. He believes better results will come once the youngsters gain some confidence.Rodgers hasn't neared his MVP form so far this season. He's completed 66.8% of his pass attempts for 1,597 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions.Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded running back James Robinson to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional draft pick Tuesday.Jacksonville will receive a sixth-round selection that can become a fifth-rounder if Robinson rushes for 600 yards this season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's 260 yards shy of that mark. The move comes after Jets standout running back Breece Hall suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's win against the Denver Broncos, leaving New York short at running back. The second-round rookie was a key contributor to New York's four-game win streak, racking up 468 scrimmage yards and four total touchdowns in that span. The Jets also roster running backs Michael Carter and Ty Johnson.Robinson leads the Jaguars with 81 carries this year, though he played a season-low 12 snaps in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. He's rushed for 340 yards (4.2 per carry) and three touchdowns. The 24-year-old amassed 1,070 rushing yards (4.5 per carry) and seven touchdowns as an undrafted rookie in 2020. He then put up 767 yards and eight scores in 14 games last year before suffering a torn Achilles.Travis Etienne is now set to carry the load at running back for the Jaguars after collecting 114 rushing yards and one touchdown versus the Giants. The 2021 first-round pick, who didn't play last year due to injury, notched 415 yards (6.1 per carry) and one TD on the ground to go along with 151 yards on 14 receptions in 2022.Jacksonville ranks third in the AFC South with a 2-5 record, while New York is second in the AFC East at 5-2. Based on team power ratings, no one had a better week than the Bills and Eagles, and neither even played. That's where we're at with the rest of the NFL. Last week, we jokingly suggested flipping the teams upside down and betting them off an inverted rating, and that likely would have been profitable again.Fresh off getting beaten at home by the Bills, the Chiefs grabbed a stranglehold as the second-best team in the NFL. But for everyone else in the upper half of the league? Yikes. How ratings workWe look at the betting market's assessment of each team based on the closing lines from the previous week's games and then we estimate what each club is capable of going forward. The "rating" column is an educated guess at the oddsmakers' rating to create a point spread before their most recent game. The number itself represents the percentage chance that a team beats an average opponent on a neutral field. The range column is my evaluation of each team's potential after seeing them play this past week. Obviously, clubs don't perform at the same level every week; they play within a range. It's our job as handicappers to predict how they'll perform based on things like the situation, on-field matchups, and roster/injury issues. The earlier it is in the season, the wider a team's range may be.Rating before Week 7 kickoffTEAMRATINGRANGEBills8570-85Chiefs7065-80Buccaneers6950-80Eagles6550-75Ravens6255-7049ers6150-70Rams5950-70Bengals5950-70Cowboys5940-70Chargers5645-65Vikings5645-65Patriots5640-60Packers5550-65Dolphins5545-70Raiders5440-60Jets4830-50Titans4740-60Browns4640-65Cardinals4540-60Colts4545-65Jaguars4430-50Falcons4330-50Saints4140-60Seahawks4130-45Lions4030-50Commanders3930-50Steelers3835-50Giants3725-50Broncos3230-60Bears3230-45Texans2925-40Panthers2020-45Notable Week 7 resultsA subtitle for this column every week should just be: "Be wary of the big move." If you think a team is overrated in the chart above, ask yourself if they covered last week - they probably didn't. If you think a team is underrated above, they probably covered last week.Rather than flip the ratings, maybe just make everyone other than the Bills, Chiefs, and Eagles a "50" while moving the bottom teams up closer to that number as well. When it comes to the Buccaneers, they'll plummet this week. Being 13-point road favorites in Carolina was only so much about the market selling the Panthers. Tampa still had some credit in the marketplace, but not anymore. A look at Thursday's home game against the Ravens (another team headed for a downgrade) shows the Bucs as a home underdog, which would suggest a massive plummet. However, beware of the plummet. The 49ers got healthier last week and added Christian McCaffrey, so their power rating went up, as evidenced by the line dropping against the Chiefs on Sunday. That was a mistake. They'll have to dip back below 60.The Patriots took a surprising loss when the Bears finally figured out that Justin Fields is really good at running the ball. While that wasn't expected, had you blindly faded the big boost the Pats were getting in the market's rating of them, you'd have found a winner. The Packers and Chargers join the Patriots on the way back to mediocrity, and had Jamaal Williams not fumbled on the 1-yard line, maybe the Cowboys would be headed that way, too, after they got a boost from Dak Prescott's return.Buying the plummet and selling the boost isn't foolproof, though. The Jets got a huge boost after beating Green Bay, and the Broncos plummeted when Russell Wilson was ruled out. That should trigger a bet on Denver, and if I told you they'd dominate the boxscore, you'd have been delighted by getting points or a plus-priced moneyline. However, the Jets somehow pulled off a win.The Colts and Titans come out of their matchup with issues at quarterback. Both teams will see their rating crash through their prescribed range, which usually means a betting opportunity is lurking. How are the 6-1 Giants still rated so poorly? They opened as 3-point dogs at the Jaguars, and the line wasn't bet down. But another upset suggests that the market is wrong in judging them off of their 20th-ranked offense in yards per play and 25th-ranked defense in yards per play against. If they're underrated, that just means an opportunity to keep backing them. The Panthers won't be rated as poorly as they were last week, but how much higher can the market boost them? Will that create a bet on the Falcons this week? Especially since Atlanta is likely to see its rating fall after getting blown out by the Bengals.Matt Russell is a betting writer for theScore. Not only did Mac Jones' benching Monday against the Chicago Bears take Jakobi Meyers by surprise, but it also rubbed the New England Patriots receiver the wrong way."It's tough as a man to see somebody who worked so hard get that kind of treatment," Meyers said, per NBC Sports Boston. After Jones completed 3 of 6 passes for 13 yards and one interception through three series, New England pulled him for rookie passer Bailey Zappe. Meyers attempted to encourage Jones in a one-on-one conversation later in the game. The fourth-year wideout also faulted Patriots fans for being part of an "ugly situation" after they greeted Zappe with cheers."Not even the coaches, just everybody. The crowd, all of it," Meyers said, per The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan. "It was an ugly situation, in my opinion."Meyers confirmed Jones took most of New England's first-team reps in the week's final practice Saturday. The Patriots passer was making his return after missing three weeks due to a high ankle sprain. But despite all of Meyers' misgivings about Jones' benching, the receiver said he understands the decision is part of life at the pro level."That's the NFL for you," he said, according to Nick Goss of NBC Sports Boston. "It's a fast-changing business."Zappe completed 14 of 22 passes for 185 yards and two interceptions Monday. He also threw a 30-yard touchdown to Meyers while leading New England on consecutive end-zone trips following his insertion into the game. After the 33-14 loss, head coach Bill Belichick said the team planned to play both quarterbacks, partly due to Jones' injury. He declined to name a starting passer moving forward.Regardless of who's under center, running back Rhamondre Stevenson doesn't believe there'll be any offensive drop-off for the Patriots."We all practice the same plays the same week," he said. "So, no drop-off or anything."Copyright © 2022 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

New York Jets rookie running back Breece Hall is out for the season after tests confirmed he tore his ACL in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Denver Broncos, head coach Robert Saleh announced Monday.Hall also suffered damage to his meniscus, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Saleh told reporters after the Week 7 contest that the team feared the running back had injured his ACL, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Saleh said Hall's initial diagnosis was "not good."The No. 36 overall pick was carted to the locker room from the sideline after being tackled awkwardly in the second quarter and was quickly ruled out. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf suffered a patellar tendon injury in his team's Week 7 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Pete Carroll said Monday on Seattle Sports radio.Metcalf will not require surgery, but his status for Sunday's Week 8 game against the New York Giants is currently unknown."We got a really good report," Carroll said, according to team reporter John Boyle. Each Monday we'll finish off the week that was in the NFL with a look at value spots in the remaining game - under one condition: you promise not to chase. Whether Sunday provided a boost to the accounts or left a little to be desired, Monday Night Football provides an opportunity to show responsibility in your betting, as there will always be another wild Sunday to get lost in.The football world gets its first prime-time look at the Patriots this season, and it might be in for a surprise. Both Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe are top six in the NFL in yards per pass attempt. Calling New England's offense explosive might be an exaggeration without a star receiver stretching the field in the traditional fashion, but the team has frequently schemed up modest chunk plays through the air.Stand-alone game scrutinizers have potentially had their fill of the Bears, having seen Justin Fields struggle against the Packers in Week 2 and the Commanders in Week 6. With that in mind, we'll opt not to overcomplicate things in the handicap for Monday night's matchup.Bears @ Patriots (-8.5, 40.5)Bill Belichick's Patriots have never lost at home to a rookie quarterback. While Fields isn't a rookie, he's in his first year with an offensive system, and Monday marks just his 17th career start. It won't help that Chicago has a true rookie head coach as well. The Patriots boast a top-10 pass defense so far this season, but it's their plan for keeping Fields from getting loose outside of the pocket that will be paramount to their success. It will have to be better than what they brought against the Ravens earlier this season when Lamar Jackson ran for 107 yards. Those watching last Thursday saw the Commanders deploy a spy at the linebacker level. Though Fields' 12 carries for 88 yards make it seem like that didn't work, his primary damage came in three situations:
